Went today for the beginning of Restaurant week Lexington. Zucchini fries, steak frites and brownie sundae. Sat at the bar and had a great meal and bar tenders were friendly and engaging. We will definitely come back. Wouldn't be complete without mentioning Lori the owner who was a blast to meet.

In a single word....incredible! Post 1917 opened its second location in the heart of Lexington. Service can sometimes be a foot note in a review but I'm starting with it. Service here is top notch. From the minute you enter until the moment you leave. Stellar. Our waiter, Luis, was among the top 5 servers I've had in my life. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and had the long list of delicious sounding specials memorized. He walked me through the entire menu and recommended the items he thought I might like. And he nailed it. The guy was phenomenal. Clone this man and sell him to other restaurants. Wow. Flawless service from this gentleman. This kind of service is rare. He's the guy you expect at a high end establishment. I can't say enough about him. I promise I'm not related to him, he was just so good I needed to call it out. Post does so many things so well. Steaks! Perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The Long Bone (as they call it) came out cooked to the ideal color at the requested temp. Spot on. It had a side of 4 sauces to sample, each one unique and bursting with flavor. The steak was so juicy, it didn't need sauce, but you will need to try them anyway. Blue cheese butter? Yes please. Chef Jason knows steaks and it's a fact that cannot be denied. This is his second Post 1917 restaurant. The staff is well trained and it shows. Everyone seems so passionate about their job here. It shows in the food and the experience. The crab cakes, suggested by Luis, we're so good. More crab than cake, which meant you get alot of crab in every bite. Another perfect execution. Moist and flavorful. It's a must try. The wedge salad is a steakhouse staple and Post 1917 nails it. High quality blue cheese and fresh lettuce with bacon and tomato. Simple but awesome. Dessert was a key lime cheesecake. You can see and taste the key lime zest. I could have eaten 2 of these if I hadn't filled up on steak. The menu has steaks and seafood mainly, but they seem to do it all to perfection. I saw other dishes leave the kitchen and they all made me wish I ordered the whole menu. There was a seafood paella which looked like something I must try. The interior is huge and very well decorated. It feels so open and inviting. Overall... an easy 5 star restaurant. You need to go here. Take your friends. Take your family. Take your date. Post 1917 is what Lexington has been missing. Service is a shining star here.

I was so excited to come here for dinner after having been for cocktails a few weeks ago. The atmosphere in the bar/lounge area is perfect - extra comfy bar seats and big booths that are equally as comfy. The bartenders and wait staff are all very friendly and informative. The cocktails are elegant and tasty, my favorite being the cucumber martini. Dinner was awesome - the waygu dumplings were tasty and you get 5 of them so perfect for sharing. The soup and salad were not overly huge, so there was still plenty of room for dinner. The steaks were seasoned perfectly and temperature was just what we asked for. For sides we got the street corn with bacon (amazing) and the mashed potatoes (good but nothing special). For dessert, both the butter cake and cheesecake were delicious. Will definitely be coming back for dinner again soon!

Everything here was super yummy!! Service was a little slow but I think they're just getting into the groove of things since they just opened. Our waiters Luis and Sebastian were super sweet and awesome and the drinks are so delicious I highly recommend the cucumber martini. The filet was super great too I got the Kona rub but I still felt like it could use some more flavor. The Brussel sprouts and au gratin potatoes were sooo yummy I would definitely order them again and look forward to trying some of their other side dishes. The stuffed peppers tasted super fresh as well and so did the salads we ordered. The halibut was also tasty and a great choice for pescatarians. The d The desserts were delicious too. Overall super happy Lexington has such a nice and beautiful restaurant like this now and I hope they do well!!

    Delicious mushrooms!

The best steak filet I've ever had! Excellent service as well. My only complaint would be the cost of the drinks $$$$. I will go back for the steak though!

This is our 2nd anniversary coming by and they just make you feel like royalty. There is plenty of free self parking available. The inside is more masculine but beautiful. I've never been to a place that makes me feel like I am important like they do. We got the fried clams to start. They were sweet and well fried. Tender and paired with a nice sauce. We shared the 48oz cowboy ribeye. It was massive and presented so nicely. Last year I had the regular ribeye and prefer it but there was nothing wrong with this. You get to choose sauce or salt. We love the smoked salt and also went with a horseradish cream. We got fries on the side which were good but nothing compared to this massive meat.

I made a reservation for a Saturday night at 7:00 for two. Note: I originally went to make the reservation online from their website but the availability was not good, so I called instead. Online it pretty much looked booked between 4:30 and 8:00 - I called and was able to get 7:00 without hesitation. So, make note to call if you don't see the time or range listed online. We were greeted as we entered and checked in with the host/hostess. They were friendly and polite and told us it would just be a few minutes. They brought us back to our table and had us seated shortly there after. Our waitress was great; she told us about the specials, checked in on us, and made sure everything was as expected. We ordered some bevs that were very tasty and had great presentations. Speaking of presentation, let's get on to the food. We ordered the Tomahawk, which if you don't know, is a MASSIVE piece of meat. It's a steak meant to serve two people - in reality, it serves way more than two. The presentation of the tomahawk steak plate alone was beautiful! It had a whole bunch of stuff (see pic). They bring it out for you to see, and then they take it back to the kitchen to slice. We ordered medium rare, and probably should have gone more medium but it was not too rare so it was fine. Now, at The Bancroft, it is an à la carte style meal, meaning you order sides separately and usually a few for the table. We had the carrots (one of the specials), roasted potatoes, and creamed spinach. Forgot to say when you order meat, you also get to pick two sauces - and before anything while you wait they bring you some rolls and butter. The rolls started us off on the right foot knowing the meal was going to be phenomenal. They were warm with some sea salt on top and baked to perfection. The steak was mouth watering, juicy, and flavorful. The sauces added a great touch, and the sides were wonderful. It is safe to say, we did not leave hungry! As mentioned, while tomahawk is said to serve two, we had a lot of leftovers so of course we got those packed up to go. They were very considerate with the packaging, putting items in different boxes that made sense. We unfortunately did not have room for dessert but I'm sure it would've been awesome. The Bancroft is definitely a higher scale restaurant so it is on the pricer side, but it is justified. The food tastes great, presentation is there, and service is excellent. It's a great place for special occasions, celebrations, or just because as long as you know what to expect... but with prices today, I'd rather pay this and have it be worth it than what a crappy meal is costing today!

Crab stuffed shrimp and an entree is plenty for 1 person. Rib eye was phenomenal. Sauce wasn't needed. Crab cakes were just ok. I didn't understand the chip like flakes that were added on top. Our server Nick was a very friendly and charming person. He earned his tip at the end. Place has an elegant vibe that would be good for a special occasion. I started with the Wollensky Salad. I found the potato croutons to be interesting and the bacon lardons somewhat tough. My filet mignon should have been the highlight and ended up being a total disappointment. I ordered it medium but was instead served almost rare. Nick asked me to cut into it and he himself said that it was somewhat rare so he took it back. Someone else brought the same steak back a few minutes later and parts were overcooked and parts were still medium rare. I also noticed that the table next to me sent one of their steaks back and also leaving it on their plates after it was brought back. For dessert, I had the coconut creme cake that was really good. I'm unlikely to go back to this restaurant even with a $55 promotion before taxes and tip. I guess that I should feel lucky that is all I paid.

We went in the front door and asked where the restaurant was and had the pleasure of being lead to the back of the building through colorful rooms with vintage inspired wall paper. The green cameos on the front halls wallpaper were fuzzy!! The bathrooms were also a freaking delight. Great wall paper everywhere. The dining room was very beautiful with high back chairs and a fire place. They also offered dining on the porch which was really beautiful too - the inn is not secluded by any means, but there wasn't an overbearing amount of traffic, so the porch would probably be lovely. We ate inside though. My husband tried to go light and healthy with claim chowder and the seasonal vegetable. He also got an espresso. I just went ahead and got the burger with the salad. The burger came with homemade pickles which were pretty tasty. The salad had green tomatoes which were very interesting. All around I had a great meal. When we walked into the hotel, there was no one at the check stand, and we eventually made our way through the bar to the restaurant's host stand. When you step into the main dining room, everything is awash with muted blues and grays--my scarf matched the color scheme pretty well, ha! We both ordered the kobacha (squash) soup, which was really quite delicious. It would've benefited from some sort of dippable bread or carb item, but it was very flavorful. The curry was definitely present without being overpronounced. I had the braised lamb neck, which came with glazed carrots and couscous. I order lamb all the time but had never ordered lamb neck specifically--I was pleased to find that it was tender and they gave a very generous portion! It tasted rather like a home-cooked meal. The harissa couscous was a nice complement. This dish just worked really well. For dessert, we shared the lemon posset, which is sort of like pot de creme. The lavender shortbread was really nice; I actually could've just had more of the shortbread by itself. The negative comes on the service front. We waited 35 minutes after being seated for our server to take our meal order and bring bread (their house bread is Parker House rolls, which were pretty standard Parker House rolls). After a while, we genuinely thought we had been forgotten about because it took over half an hour for our cocktails to arrive, and the restaurant was not full. However, I did enjoy The Ellen, a blackberry liquor-based cocktail, although the apple cidery "The Temptation" drink was too sweet for me. It was sort of strange because our server came to drop the menus and take our drink order and we didn't see her over a half hour. This was really the only negative of the meal, although since it was inching toward the hour mark before we received our appetizers, it was a pretty big ding. All that said, we'd certainly come back here.

Atmosphere/Decor: Really interesting and unique interior formerly a Post Office (hence the name) with exposed brick, a tall windows, and a very long three-sided bar that makes up most of the restaurant. Very happening and social scene. Most folks dressed business casual and to impress. Lots of birthdays, regulars, and lookers. Big glam meets classic steakhouse hybrid vibes. We sat at a booth behind the bar and were initially concerned about placement but glad for the happening scene afterwards. The legroom was fairly tight for the taller folks. The booth was a little tight with space for all our food and drinks (e.g., four people, four cocktails, four waters, three appetizers was tight). Service: Very attentive. We had great servers, very attentive, fun, offered helpful insights and thoughts, and took great care of us ala traditional steakhouse norms. No delays. No complaints. Food: We really enjoyed our meal. The appetizers were fun. The restaurant is gluten free in homage to one of the owners(?) kids who's found it hard to eat out. You probably wouldn't notice that it's gluten free, as whatever almond/corn/rice flour they're using closely mimics mouth feel and taste. We were a little surprised the lamb app was (gluten-free) breaded but very moist and flavorful. Our steaks were all very good. I had the ribeye and it was a nice cut, aged (23-30 days?), and cooked exactly as desired. Cauliflower was decent and voluminous but not amazing. Wedge decent. Filets good. The chicken parm sounded very intriguing -- different than the usual fare and apparently one of their most popular dishes and huge but we will save it for next time. Fun desert options. Drinks: Great dirty martini. Fun cocktails for the table -- some great some just good. All boozy. The Whistle Pig tasting desert option was a a great value even if just for the 12 year XII at that price. They have a few rare allocated bourbons and whiskeys. Price: A much better deal than Boston steakhouses in general. This would have been twice the price if downtown there, and they're clearly enticing folks to make the drive. I think it's well worth it.
