The room was beautiful and the breakfast was incredible. The location is perfect for walking around downtown Taos. Be forewarned parking is tight so go slow driving in. The only two downsides were they internet is dreadful and the checkin staff are never at the counter and you have to go hunt them down. When I went back to ask about the internet they said well you have an iPhone and it doesn't work with iPhones.....and that was it..... So I mean the staff could have been nicer. Perhaps the owners should reassess the internet issue. Our tv in our room also STRUGGLED to stay connected to the wifi....the staff again just said gee I am not sure our phones are working.

This is the second time we've been here over the past 4 years and we will ALWAYS try to stay here when we come to Taos we stayed two nights this time. First, the front desk people are great, not only in checking in but answering any questions we had about where to go or eat or shop or just hang around town. The Inn is located within easy walking distance to the plaza and other places, a perfect location to say the least. The breakfast was delicious and they allowed us to add and subtract items from our order as needed. I had the waffles and they were delicious. The room was nice and the bed very comfortable. The only tough thing about our room was that there wasn't a convenient desk for me to work on my laptop, but the ironing board made for a perfect "desk" so no harm, no foul. We had the opportunity to be waited on and schmooze with Ruthann, the daughter of Tom, the owner, and heard all about their story and how this Inn came to be. The price of the room was very fair and we'd recommend the Inn to one and all who want nice and comfy and good service and breakfast.

We stopped in for breakfast at the invitation of Ruthann. We dined on the lovely patio on a perfect Taos morning. The servers here could not be more personable and professional, not to mention cute. The breakfast was excellent. Between the three of us, we had a variety and it all was presented on beautiful southwestern dishes and tasted great. I recommend the house favorite, and add an egg or two in your favorite style. The quiche was also dynamite. While we didn't stay here, next time we need a place we will for sure stay here. I know of no one who is more hospitable than Ruthann and her father Tom.

This is a beautiful old school charming bed and breakfast !loved the breakfast and service from Addie at check in . I left my water bottle in the room and they were so nice to send it to me! Beautiful New Mexico decor and furnishings. Walking distance to town for shopping and restaurants. A must stay in Taos! Loved every min! Make note : the lobby closes about 7:30pm and many restaurants close at 8:00pm. So one night we went to Cids ( gourmet supermarket) picked up burritos, guacamole and chips and had a great dinner in outdoor seating area. A must stay in Taos.

My friend and I visited Taos last month and chose Casa Benavides for our stay. It's located very close to the town plaza and is within easy walking distance of many tourist sites and shops. The layout of the building proved to be a bit of a puzzle for us; we parked in the back parking lot (there is no street parking in front or on the side) and it took us a few failed attempts to find our way around to the front door and main building. Many thanks to Tessie, who checked us in on our arrival. She was the soul of hospitality, greeting us with a warm welcome and a quick tour of the property. We booked the Georgia O'Keeffe suite of two separate bedrooms, each with a queen bed. The artistic bent of the owners is evident in the little touches; Tessie noted that one of the owners had painted the lampshades earlier that day, to harmonize with the O'Keeffe paintings in the rooms. The breakfasts each day were delicious, and we appreciated the kindness and efficiency of the breakfast room staff. The menu tended to be fairly similar each day (yogurt, granola and peaches were always the first course during our stay). Our suite was of ample size for two people, with plenty of room to spread out. There were some unusual features which were a bit discomforting but might be easily remedied: * One room is larger than the other, and this room has built-in shelves and small table and chairs--and was, therefore, where we gathered to play board games and to plan our daily adventures. However, the lighting in this room was quite poor. There was a ceiling fan but no overhead light; only three table lamps which did not sufficiently illuminate the sitting area. The window in the room faced the courtyard and did not receive a great deal of sunlight. The other, smaller room had a ceiling fan with a light fixture, and it was excellent for lighting the room. But there was no place to sit, other than a small straight-backed chair, or on the bed. It would make good sense to add a light fixture to the ceiling fan in the larger room so that guests could easily sit at the table and see what they were doing. * The larger room was also the only room with a closet. It was big enough for both of us to hang up our clothes, but it would be nice to have at least a hook or small rack in the smaller room for a guest to place articles of clothing, so they would not have to wake up their roommate just to get their clothes in the morning. * The table and all the chairs were clearly vintage antiques and very pretty, but they were not very comfortable. They were crafted for people much shorter than us; we used pillows on the seats to create a standard height to sit on. It might be useful to have at least one chair that would accommodate someone taller than 5 feet. * The bathroom was well-placed in between the two bedrooms. It was lovely but, again, not very useful for two guests. There was a thin wooden shelf on the wall above the toilet and another shelf on the wall by the sink, but it would be helpful to have a standard-sized medicine cabinet in lieu of the thin wooden shelf. The sink was a pedestal variety and so did not have any vanity space, nor was there space elsewhere to place our toiletries. A major improvement for the property would be the installation of sufficient and clear signage. Again, directions from the parking lot to the main building and reception would be very much appreciated; artful signs could be attached to or painted on the adobe walls without disturbing the ambience of the Casa. Signage that directed guests through each of the courtyards (there are three) and through the main building would also be helpful. Even signs that lead to the ice machine would be appreciated. A small frustration was the inaccessibility of the main building when staff were not present. The notice in our room stated that the main building is open until a particular time in the evening, but this is not correct. We were told by the older gentleman at the front desk that the main building is locked up after the last guest has checked in and is not opened again until breakfast is served. On one evening, the doors were locked by 4:30 pm. And on the day we checked out, all the doors to the main building except the front entrance were locked as soon as breakfast service was finished. The difficulty with this arrangement is that, whenever the main building is locked, guests do not have access to the ice machine, public restroom, or the main sitting area with books and comfortable furniture. A notice to this effect in the guest rooms would at least forewarn guests that they need to take care of getting ice, etc., during the time that staff is present. Our stay at Casa Benavides was pleasant, but it could have been even more memorable if these small considerations could have been attended to. We look forward to returning to the Casa on our next visit to Taos to see the improvements that are made.

There's no way I could ever say enough about Casa Benavides. It's an amazing place to stay. Close to the Plaza and numerous galleries and restaurants. I have stayed there for years and have never been disappointed in any way. The individual rooms are tastefully decorated in southwest themes with wonderful antiques. There are patios all over the property made for relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. Breakfast is a real treat. The yogurt, fruit and granola is wonderful!!! Their homemade to order breakfast will start your day on the right foot. After you've walked all over Taos and enjoyed your day, be sure to stop into the breakfast area between 3p and 5p for lemonade, hot and cold teas and delicious baked treats of cookies, bars and cakes. You won't be disappointed.

Just freaking awesome! When I booked my first trip ever to Taos, I had no idea what to expect. Looking for lodging I, by accident, ran into Casa Benavides Bed & Breakfast Inn and with some hesitation I thought I give it a try. That turned out to be one of the best decisions I made o this trip. The place is very classy, well run and extremely well organized. It is located right at the center of things and only a block away from the Plaza. All you have to do is roll out of your very cozy bed, grab your delicious cup of coffee and breakfast in their dinning room and stroll down the street to the plaza where you can spend a good hour or more window shopping. Then grab a map and treat yourself to a walking tour of the historic Taos. I loved my stay at Casa Benavides Bed & Breakfast Inn and will certainly stay there again when I return to Taos for my second visit.

Great bed & breakfast. Room is huge and has an authentic NM vibe. The staff here is extremely friendly and thoughtful. This place is family owned and the family makes you breakfast and serves you each morning. They are great! Truly don't have anything to complain about.

Clean, quiet, and walking distance to the best part of Taos. Stayed here on our New Mexico road trip; was our best stop. Comfy, air conditioned rooms (WiFi only in common building), a delicious breakfast each morning (beginning at 7:30am) and afternoon tea (3-5pm). The ladies who prep and serve are dynamos in the kitchen (everything was delicious...hot egg dish, fresh muffins...YUMMMM) and make sure each guest is well-cared for! Book early and get a better deal.

Has a real south west vibe going on which continued into our room. The rustic charm is everywhere from the Spanish tile bathroom to the spacious bedroom. There are chair on the front porch to sit and enjoy the court yard. Our room had an open but private back porch with more chairs. We enjoyed some coffee here before heading to breakfast, Breakfast was delicious and the staff was friendly and helpful. Nga was amazing. Wished we were able to stay longer. I would give this place 7 stars ( 2 bonus stars)

I really wanted to leave a glowing 5-star review because, when we first arrived I was obsessed with…read morethis place. My boyfriend, our dog, and I ended up booking this B&B last minute after leaving another accommodation early because it had bugs (including a camel spider in our bed ). We found this place online at resnexus.com as well Yelp and stalked their website, loved the photos, read the reviews, and immediately felt relieved when we arrived. The Piñon Casita was adorable, the property itself is beautiful, breakfast was delicious, and the hosts seemed friendly. For the first hour or so I was thinking, Thank goodness, we finally found the place. Unfortunately, things slowly started going downhill from there. The first night, the fireplace wouldn't work. We messaged the hosts, sent photos, tried troubleshooting it ourselves, and eventually just gave up and accepted we'd be having a fireplace-free evening. It wasn't the end of the world, and we figured hey, stuff happens. The next day they came and fixed it, which we appreciated. Then came the washer. One of the reasons we were excited about this casita was because it included a washer and dryer. Earlier in the week we'd already spent time at a laundromat, so we were looking forward to doing laundry before our 8-hour drive home. We started a load and got a 4E error less than halfway through the wash. We looked it up ourselves, we tried troubleshooting, we messaged the hosts, we followed their suggestions, and we tried different cycles. At this point I felt less like a guest and more like the on-call appliance technician. They eventually told us the washer had been fixed while we were out hiking, so we were excited to finally do laundry. Spoiler alert it wasn't fixed. Same error. We tried again later that evening. Same issue. Then around 11 PM the washer completely shut off and locked our wet laundry inside. We messaged the hosts again because we were supposed to leave the next morning after breakfast and start an 8-hour drive home. The response that frustrated us most wasn't even the broken washer, it was being told that because we hadn't specifically mentioned on the phone that we intended to use the washer and dryer, (And she said that they don't accept same day bookings, but made an exception for us, though that was never communicated nor was this a policy written anywhere on their website) compensation wouldn't be considered. Respectfully, if an amenity is advertised, guests shouldn't have to announce ahead of time that they plan on using it. That's like asking if the shower works before booking because you intend to shower. We weren't asking for a huge refund. We weren't asking for hundreds of dollars back. Even a small gesture of goodwill $50 to $100 off the stay would have gone a long way and would have shown that they understood the inconvenience. Instead, we paid full price despite having a fireplace that didn't work the first night and a washer/dryer that never functioned properly during our stay. To add to that, there were also multiple spiders and bugs inside the casita. I understand this is the countryside and bugs exist. Trust me, I get it. But after literally leaving our previous accommodation because of bugs, it wasn't exactly what we hoped to deal with again. The next morning our laundry was still trapped in the washer. Eventually my boyfriend ended up figuring out the breaker issue himself after staff told us where the breaker panel was located. We rushed to get our laundry spun and dried before checkout, but they still weren't completely dry. So instead of leaving relaxed after a nice getaway, we ended up starting our 8-hour drive home later than planned with damp laundry shoved into a trash bag. The frustrating part is that this review could have been completely different. The property is beautiful, the breakfast was genuinely fantastic, the casita itself is cute and cozy. And honestly, if the hosts had simply acknowledged the inconvenience and offered even a small amount of compensation, I probably would've happily overlooked most of this. Instead, we left feeling like the burden of fixing the problems fell on us while still paying full price for amenities we couldn't properly use. It's a lovely property, but unfortunately the way these issues were handled means we won't be returning.
