Coffee was great, actually better than several of the cafes in the surrounding area. Room was comfortable. We were fortunate to have gotten an upgrade which included a small refrigerator which was great for the multi day stay. We hung out in lobby and enjoyed the nightly live music. Staff was great, both at desk, in adobe bar and housekeeping/maintenance. Only bummer was that Doc Martin, the onsite restaurant was only open days we already had plans. Note for weekday stays, check that restaurants are actually open before heading out on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, even if recommended by front desk.

I wanted to enjoy my stay at Historic Taos Inn given its reputation and location, but the room fell…read moreshort in several important areas--especially considering the price. There were multiple maintenance and functionality issues. The ductless mini-split system was not working properly, and the wall-mounted thermostat did not control the heat or A/C. The ceiling vent appeared obstructed and poorly maintained, raising concerns about airflow and ventilation. I also noted that the smoke detector showed no visible indicator light at the time, making it unclear whether it was operational, which raised a safety concern. The room itself felt dated and not well maintained. There was a visible spiderweb and debris buildup on the window sill, and the window area overall showed a lack of cleaning and upkeep. Additionally, the wooden window blinds were damaged--specifically, the upper right blind is missing the center wooden control rod, so each slat had to be adjusted by hand. The blinds also catch on the window frame/sill, preventing smooth operation and full closure. Because the room was on the ground level with people walking by, this resulted in a lack of privacy that would reasonably be expected. The bathroom also showed wear, with deteriorating caulking and grout around the tub/shower. Basic amenities were lacking--there was no clock, mini fridge, or microwave, which made the stay less convenient than expected. Additionally, there was a mouse trap placed under the bed. While I understand pest control is sometimes necessary, its visible presence in the guest room raises concerns about cleanliness and overall room readiness. Most importantly, the condition of the room and lack of amenities did not align with the price paid. For the rate charged, I expected a higher standard of maintenance, cleanliness, and functionality. The experience felt significantly overpriced relative to what was provided. The property has charm and a strong location, but without better upkeep and attention to detail, it does not currently deliver value for the cost.

The house is gorgeous with two tiny salons, a dining area and kitchen. You can feel the history. There are coffee table books documenting Mabel and Tony's life and their influences on the area. Georgia O'Keefe, Ansel Adams, DH Lawrence and Martha Graham graced these rooms in Mabel's day. Dennis and his friends brought a livlier set no doubt! Here, there are separate entrances to the rooms and a common space. I am 6'8" so I need some space. LeAn and Charles were wonderful. It was fun to eat breakfast with the other guests and then head out for the day. Since I love to walk, I must have hiked down to Taos proper about ten times. The sidewalk aren't great and there is a lot of traffic out on the main drag. So, most visitors will need to drive to town unless you are a little nuts like me. Taos is a cool town and a great place to land. This B & B was a cool nest to rest my bones, eat a lovely breakfast, and then to do my thing. There are supermarkets in a walkable distance. Just have to get across the very busy highway.

It is picturesque and quiet. The B&B offers a small little cottage called the Garden Gallery that happened to also be the cheapest so we went with that. Small indeed, but it did the job. We were out an about most of the time anyway, so who needs a whole lot of space? There was a small queen bed pushed against the wall. There was a traditional kiva fire that you can burn wood in seasonally. The shower was pretty big and open. There was no tub however. I liked that there were a few windows that could be opened and allowed for fresh air. The TV worked and there was also a coffee maker and mini fridge in the cottage. Other rooms are larger and have more impressive amenities if that's your thing. They all have private outdoor entrances. There is a relaxing common area with a computer, TV, and a large selection of books and readings on local happenings. There was always fresh lemonade and ice tea avaliable as well as cookies in the common kitchen area. Outside of the large dining area is a small hot tub that wreaked of chemicals, we did not venture in! Our experience was great. The owner was so kind to us, he knew we had never done the B&B thing before. We had also never been to Taos. His knowledge of this town and surrounding areas was impressive. He helped us choose a dinner destination and also a few galleries to hit up. He also gave us some tips on things to do outside of town. He also introduced us to the resident peacock, dogs, and cats that wander on and off the grounds. The breakfast was delish! We had peach stuffed french toast that was to die for. The peaches tasted as thought they were just picked off the tree. We also had fresh squeezed juice and a variety of sides. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the B&B and will return for sure. I am curious to try more B&B's after this experience but fear that it won't compare to this. Perhaps if I could compare this to other B&B's I could give it 5 stars. You might see an update in the future! (I hope anyway)

Situated just a mile north of the Taos "hub" Hacienda del Sol is an oasis of tranquility, luxury, and hospitality. The rooms are immaculate (complete with a wood burning fireplace begging to be lit and enjoyed). The grounds are beautifully manicured with local garden decorations and plenty of Adirondack chairs for basking in the sun under Taos Mountain's shadow. You can't paint a better view. Mark and Gerd serve the most delicious of breakfasts each morning. I enjoyed the fruit cup starter with only the freshest fruits, followed by options including French toast, pancakes, biscuits and green chili gravy, cheese omelette, skillet potatoes and eggs, eggs any style, and, of course, bacon. I looked forward to waking up and joining other guests each morning to see what new delicious options we would be offered. I enjoyed the privacy of the individual hot tub times. You can sign up for 30 minute slots throughout the day, 7 days a week, to enjoy an intimate hot tub time with your party. There are some dog-friendly rooms, so bring Fido! They do have some ground rules with the dogs (cannot be left alone in rooms and no sleeping on the bed). Please be respectful guests so that they may continue their hospitality towards canine guests as well. Be sure to bring a crate if you do intend to leave for any amount of time. There are many restaurants just steps from Hacienda del Sol and the staff will be happy to make recommendations or reservations at your request. Within 30 minutes you can be at Taos Ski Valley, Rio Grande Gorge Trails (25 min drive), the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge (12 min drive), downtown (5 min drive), a grocery and liquor store (6 min walk), wine country (40 min drive), and Santa Fe (1hr30 drive). Simply put, we had the most magical experience and cannot wait to make Taos and Hacienda Del Sol an annual vacation spot.

What a quaint bed & breakfast. The grounds and setting are beautiful…read more We arrived in Taos when it was dark. The B&B is directly off the busy main road of Taos. We did not see the Hacienda Del Sol sign the first time and drove past it. We had to turn around. The second time we tried to get to the B&B we turned before the sign and realized we missed it again. Finally on the 3rd try we got to the B&B. The driveway is shared by a restaurant and another B&B. The innkeepers do not live on-site so they left late arrival directions for us. Each unit has its own designated parking space. We were assigned to the El Pueblo unit. It was a room that had a kiva fireplace (which we couldn't use because of the room above us), club chair, small table that contained cups, Keurig maker, ice bucket, coffee, tea and condiments. The bed was comfy with luxury linens, a dresser and two bathrobes. The bathroom was small. Instead of travel size bath products they had full size bottles of bath products. The best part was there are french doors leading to the shared garden/lawn area where you can see the mountains. They have a good sized hot tub for your use. You have to sign up for a private one hour soak. The sign up sheet is located in the kitchen by the coffee makers. Breakfast is served in the dining area right off of the kitchen. There was a lot to choose from. There was a meat & cheese plate, rosemary bread, prosciutto egg cups, chile egg cups, fruit, bacon, baked goods, fresh squeezed OJ, coffee, assorted teas, other things of which I can't remember. There weren't too many people in the dining room so we ate in there. The second morning it was too crowded in the dining room so we ate outside even though it was chilly. We got to talk to the innkeepers Blair and Mike. We found out they had bought the inn only five months ago. They are lovely people. I wish them success with the inn. We didn't have any lodging plans for the next night so we stayed another night at Hacienda Del Sol. The El Pueblo was booked so we moved to the Rio Grande, which was only two doors away. It was more money per night than the El Pueblo but it was worth it. The Rio Grande was much bigger than El Pueblo. Even the bathroom was much bigger. The one drawback of the B&B was how dark the grounds were at night. Some of the stones in the pathway were broken or missing. All in all we enjoyed this B&B.

New Mexican design details throughout with flames in the fireplace. Got my key and placed my breakfast order. I booked the "Romantic" room (unit 1) because I'm dating myself and I deserve it. I took full advantage of the dual shower heads in the spacious shower designed for two. I loved snuggling up in one of the big lounge chairs by the fireplace. I called Aji (local Peruvian restaurant) and they delivered paella, empanadas, and the most delightful passion fruit cheesecake. My lounge chair doubled as a dining chair with the little table. Dinner by the fire was just what the doctor ordered. Comfy king size bed and lots of pillows just for me, the prettiest heated marble floors in the bathroom, a ceiling fan for white noise, and then right on time: a light knock on the door. Time for breakfast! Breakfast was divine. A beautiful frittata with wild mushrooms, spinach, and feta. What a lovely end to my stay. Thank you Zachary for making my stay a perfect, safe getaway. Notes about COVID safety: Thumbs up. Zachary sent me a text guiding me with an optional contact-free checkin. It was simple and he still found ways to make me feel welcome and taken care of. In the morning my breakfast was placed at my front door in a basket and I didn't need to sign anything. I left cash in the room for a tip.
