I made a reservation on open table for a Saturday night to celebrate my birthday. I wrote in the comments that it was a birthday celebration. No staff acknowledged my birthday. We got a table next to the piano so we could watch the singer who took the stage at 7:45PM. He sings and plays the piano and a sound track plays for backup music. The piano is in the lounge. The restaurant also offers tables outside of the lounge and also on an outdoor balcony overlooking the pool. A server brought us warm bread with a marinara sauce. I preferred to dip my bread in the olive oil. When it was time to place our order, the server asked what we wanted. He didn't welcome us to the restaurant or offer suggestions. At this price point, I expected better hospitality from the server. We started with roasted veggies for an appetizer. For our entrees, we had chicken parmesan and the pappardelle mushroom pasta. The chicken parmesan is huge and served with penne pasta. It was good, but there was nothing unique about it. The pappardelle pasta was rich and delicious. A little goes a long way. Pasta is made inhouse. The staff checked on us frequently. Overall, the food was good and entertainment ok. For the price point, I expect more personality from the server. Our server Mauro was wonderful as well as the whole team there, very attentive & just overall great service & atmosphere! The food came out relatively fast, and was excellent! Must valet. This is in a hotel. We started at the bar with an appetizer and wine/espresso Martini. The wine was 1/2 off bc of HH. The appetizer Bruschetta was unbelievably good. Onto dinner..we sat overlooking the pool and beyond that, the ocean which was nicer. It was also nicer when a storm came and we were left with a cool view of the now empty area and totally grey sky against the ocean. I decided on the Dine out Fort Lauderdale Prix fixe meal $75 which included calamari (meh), a glass of house wine, dinner - I chose the salmon which was good and had a variety of unexpected vegetables like asparagus and broccoli and green beans all mixed- pretty good. The music scene at the bar with the Sicilian piano man is very entertaining! It is loud in this area but full of energy. Service started off great and quickly went down hill as we waited and kept asking for a check for more than 20 minutes. Not sure how Casa Calabria landed on my bookmarks list, but I came to Fort Lauderdale last year and didn't get a chance to stop by. Well, this year I had an opportunity to come and didn't want to pass it up. Ordered the Polpette as an appetizer and the Calabria Meat Sauce with Pasta as the entrée. The meatballs were absolutely top-notch. It was presented with a lot of marinara sauce and ricotta on the side. Went super well with the bread that they gave me beforehand. And that pasta...wow! Rigatoni with that sauce plus all the beef that it came with. One of the best pastas I've ever had. I actually wish I had someone to share this with, because on its own it was just SO MUCH FOOD. In fact, I had to pass on dessert. Otherwise I would have had many regrets. Staff here are really friendly and welcoming. He had a great personality and matched our energy. The atmosphere of the restaurant was perfect for a birthday dinner or a date night. I recommend parking on the street in order to avoid valet parking, it may take some patience, however, I found a close spot The beachfront tables at the tiki bar are lovely; however, the umbrellas are taken down when it gets windy. Our server said she'd take it off the table since we had trouble seeing all of us across the table; and she never did, so the four of us had to scoot close together to see each other during the conversations. The food was excellent tasting and happy hour prices are the best in town! The service is honestly sub par; I understand it isn't easy working outside in the heat, however, any time we asked for anything beyond a basic cocktail, it took a minimum of 20 minutes or more. There were times she'd bring a requested item swiftly to the table and then quickly depart without checking to see if anything needed to be cleared or if we needed anything else. I will return here simply for the views, however, I will keep in mind that if I am in a rush, or if I want to have something delivered to the table quickly, I will adjust my expectations based on this experience. read more

Casa Calabria is located inside a small hotel on A1A, and there are tables outside that have an ocean view. The inside is a bit more lively, particularly near the bar, where there is great live music. However, the food is the reason to go. I'd highly recommend the Arancini and the meatballs (not pictured). My wife and I have come here several times as we live very close by. Today was my wife's birthday and we decided to do a small gathering at Casa Calabria. We made the reservation at 7:30 and told them it was for my wife's birthday. They didn't seat us until 7:55. Granted it was busy but no worries all good. We sit down, order and the food comes out except for my mother in laws dish. We sat and waited for another 15 minutes before our waiter finally saw us. He disappeared again for another 15 minutes and we ask what's going on, he goes to the computer comes back and apologized that he forgot to place the order for her dish. Her food came out 15 minutes later, my wife's birthday was never celebrated by restaurant, and no discount or anything on the bill for the dish being forgotten. The food was delicious as always, but the service tonight sucked. Probably won't come back after this one. read more

Amazing experience. Lovely setting overlooking the ocean. We were 2 couples, the other couple had been there before. Such a comfortable setting. It is in a Hotel (Ocean Manor Beach) on the Galt mile. So special. Our server Michael, as from Verona, Italy and explained Italian cuisine as well as the types of pasta. He was so concerned that each person would make the best choice. Lovely person and so professional. I had the pasta with crab meat sauce and a 1/2 lobster (it was amazing with enough leftovers for a full meal the next day). My partner had the spaghetti bolognese and said it was superb. My friend had ravioli with spinach and ricotta, she said it was divine. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, ambience and service! So sorry, no pictures, we were ravenous when we arrived at the restaurant and I did not think of photos until the end of the meal. We all shared one tiramisu for dessert. The wine list is lovely with something for most palates. My partner and I will be back before the end of the year and I promise to submit pics! Let me start by saying I have been here MANY times over the years with both family and friends. Whatever the occasion, we always had a GREAT time. But recently, this all changed. Challenges: Music - Let's play some authentic Italian music or even some rat pack selections. What came blasting through the restaurant was a singer with a really bad voice. The volume was so loud that even in the very back of the restaurant, we could not even hear each other talk. TERRIBLE! In speaking with a few servers, they all agreed that the music is way too loud but there is nothing they could do to lower it. Eventually we had to sit outside where it was slightly lower. BREAD - This place used to have the best bread for the table. I'm not sure when it changed but now they offer a ciabotta. Not terrible but definitely not as good as to what they provided previously. Pasta - We had two pasta dishes. Amatriciana - something was wrong here. A small portion of pasta that just didn't taste right. Frutti Di Mare - A WAY overpriced dish that came out cold. VERY little pasta, super rubbery calamari, over cooked mussels and clams. Oh, and one section of one shrimp. I have had this dish at so many other places in my life. This is the worst and most expensive example. Waitstaff was super friendly and helpful but this is a one and done. We won't be back. Too many other place that are way better quality and at better prices. read more

I recently went to Casa Calabria and had some delicious meatballs at the bar. The bar had a very nice feel and ambiance, located separate from the main dining area. The bartenders were really busy serving everyone around the bar and they were hustling...busy place. The flavor profile of the meatballs was really good, I could taste the blend of pork and beef distinctively. The sauce was really thick and robust, making it a really good background for the delicious meatballs. Absolutely amazing! After reading all of the positive reviews, we decided to check them out... and then went back 2 more times within the week. It is that good! The chicken parm is absolutely huge and perfect. I sub Alfredo for the red sauce on the pasta it comes with and it's Devine! Calamari is fresh and so so good.
