Delicious Enchiladas from Casa De Lago

Food is authentic in flavor. So tasty! Service is friendly. Ambience is amazing! We will go back again.

I dropped into Casa Del Lago Mexican restaurant in Granite Bay, CA, for a late lunch on a lazy weekend afternoon. I've never been here before, driven by lots of times. Hubs and I enjoyed our meals. The food was tasty, flavorful. The service was top notch. The prices were reasonable. The ambiance was chill. They have a separate bar area. As I was looking at the menu, the first thing that caught my eye were the prices. I was anticipating them to be higher. But was pleasantly surprised. The one item combo was $12.99 and two item was $14.99. If you are a light eater, they sell al la carte items (hard shell tacos $5.25; enchiladas, tamales, and chile relleno $6-$8) and sides. Another thing I noticed was the diverse menu choices including a couple of vegan dishes. Lastly I noticed they sell bottled Jarritos and Mexican Coke. Wonderful that they offer non-HFCS soda options as well. Plus they offer a variety of wines, beers, cocktails, and margaritas. Hubs ordered the crispy shredded beef taco combo $12.99 and I ordered the carne asada plate $19.95. The shredded beef in the taco was delicious. It was moist but still had a wonderful crisp sear to it. It was seasoned well, packed with flavor. The taco shell was freshly fried. The carne asada was super thin. It was seasoned well. Both plates came with Spanish rice and refried beans. Yum. The complimentary chips and salsa hit the spot. The salsa is delicious; it has a sweetness and a kicky slight spiciness.

We've always loved this place when we've been here in the past everything from the atmosphere to the food and service! We came in this last weekend really early for the first time as they were first opening, and we were greeted at the door right away with a smile! Our waiter that day turned out to be Alexander and he not only gave us great service, very personable and pleasant! Everyone there, including the bus boy Christian was wonderful! Never disappointed the food is great and you could not ask for better service !

We drive quite a few times from El Dorado Hills to Roseville and came across this place and decided to give it a try. The ambience is good and staff is good. As soon as we stepped in we felt like we are on one of our vacations to Mexico. The margaritas solidified that belief :-) the drinks were totally wonderful. We got the carne asada and the El Diablo shrimp and both the dishes were delicious. Btw all the menu items looked wonderful and we will definitely want to visit the place to try more items. The 1-star deduction is because their bathrooms only have 1 stall and 1 toilet and I was waiting with my toddler for about 25-minutes for an employee who was using it while taking on the phone.

Phenomenal! Casa Del Lago is such a clean, beautiful restaurant. Our server was great, very swift and accommodating. We came here for Cinco de Mayo right before the bigger crowds showed up so we were lucky :) The food was delicious! We ordered the enchiladas de la casa, the sampler and the chimichanga. All were hot large portions. We will definitely be coming back again!

I stopped in on a Thursday afternoon. The inside decor was nice and everything was clean. I was seated in a booth near a family talking about their family member's will and testament. They weren't concerned about airing the poor guy's medical conditions out to other patrons, discussing things like his bowel movements, suppositories and how they were given, his wishes for his ashes, as well as about other family members who had died of such things as cancer. This of course was through no fault of the restaurant, but it did lessen my experience. I felt bad for the gentleman these women were discussing. Why don't people have more respect for their family, not to mention others who are forced to listen to what should be private matters? Anyway, my server was pleasant and prompt, quickly bringing out chips and salsa with my iced tea. The salsa was decent but the chips tasted like something I'd buy in the grocery store. I got a two item combo with a cheese enchilada and a crispy shredded beef taco. The taco was the better of the two items (especially adding salsa), although it did have a fishy taste from what I'd assume is the oil being used in the kitchen. The Spanish rice/refried beans were adequate, though I only had a few bites of each. The enchilada was really bland so I didn't finish it. It wasn't the worst, but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to make a trip back.

I've arrived at Casa Del Lago, located in the Granite Bay district of Roseville, CA to enjoy some fine Mexican cuisine.

Casa Del Largo is an attractive, villa-style Mexican restaurant, that offers all of your favorites in an attractive, spacious dining room, a cozy bar area, along with a comfortable outdoor patio. The bar offers many varieties of margaritas, mixed drinks and wine, which mixed with the friendly service and great cuisine makes for fine dining! The restaurant features an attractive outdoor patio, complete with a running fountain, potted plants and palm trees. Both the building and the patio offer Mexican style architecture, which lends a feeling that you might be enjoying a margarita in Cabo San Lucas, instead of Granite Bay. You enter the restaurant through a foyer and are treated to a greeter, attractive decorations and a "Specials" board that changes regularly. Since I had just "opened" the restaurant, a greeter wasn't present, and I simply made my way to the dining room in the bar area. The main dining room is off to the right of the foyer. I LOVE the full service bar dining area. Like the entire restaurant, the bar area is paved with attractive tile flooring and is squeaky clean. The bar area features a high ceiling, lots of windows and opens out to the patio. About half of the furniture in the bar area is high tables and chairs, which I absolutely adore when I dine in a bar setting. Shortly after I placed my order, my host brought out a basket of tortilla chips, a bowl of salsa and a Pacifico beer. What a great trio for an appetizer! From the "Combinations" section of the menu, I went with "Two Entrees," Mexican rice, along with refried beans. My choice of entrees were a "Chile Relleno" along with a "Soft Shell Taco." A basket of freshly baked corn tortilla chips, along with a bowl of salsa rounded out my delicious lunch. I did find it a little odd that tortillas weren't included with the meal, which is the norm at most Mexican restaurants, but I really didn't miss them. The "Soft Shell Taco" was a small, DVD-sized taco, known as Mexican "street taco," as similar tacos are sold on the streets of every city, town and village in Mexico. The taco was based on two soft corn tortillas, warm and moist, and loaded with chopped carne asada, diced white onion and chopped cilantro. A little cup of salsa picante was on the side, which made for excellent dipping. This delicious taco held together well, thanks to the two grilled corn tortillas. The combination of carne asada, diced onion and cilantro, with the corn tortillas made for a delicious taco. The bed of shredded lettuce the taco was placed on added to the beautiful presentation and the cool lettuce made for a refreshing contrast to the warm taco and relleno. It had been MONTHS since I'd had the pleasure to enjoy a "Chile Relleno," so that was my second choice of entree for today's lunch. As the menu states, it was a "Fresh fire roasted pepper stuffed with cheese, topped with sauce, pico de gallo and sprinkled with Mexican cheese. The rellano began with a medium size chili pepper, stuffed with lots of Mexican cheese and roasted to perfection. It was topped with chili sauce, pico de gallo and dusted with crumbled anjo cheese. What a combination to make for a delicious "Chile Relleno!" A generous helping of refried beans, topped with melted Mexican cheese and a single olive made for the perfect side dish. These refried were simply amazing and offered a slightly "nutty" flavor - like they were cooked in lard - but I highly doubt lard was used. Whatever the chef did to these beans made for refried beans to remember... which means the chef has talent. The Mexican rice was solidly good, but like most Mexican rice, was unremarkable, but always a staple for a well-balanced Mexican combination plate. My "Combination Plate" lunch was simply delicious! Each selection was perfectly cooked, well presented, well portioned, and all worked will together to made an amazing lunch. Truly great Gold Country dining! I miss the former Cabos Restaurant this used to be, but since Casa Del Lago has taken over, it more than makes up for it. Great food, friendly service, elegant atmosphere combine to make this restaurant a 5-star dining experience.
