The food itself was good. The menu prices are great but tip is automatically added which is not transparent. The drinks were not good. The wait staff was very pushy. I have been told about Casa Denis for years but after going, I will not be returning. There are better options available.

Ok Mexican food only 15 mins walk from the port. Seemed pretty authentic to me, decent service. The only watch out is your bill. Our 16 dollar bill turned into 25. I'd rather decide how much to tip, not being told. For that reason, I won't recommend. I'd rather go to Hooters and know exactly what I will be paying vs shenanigans.

Sopa de Lima and Sopa de Tortilla. Both are very good, but the Lime Soup is the best. Beef Tacos were good, and the Yucatan Chicken Tacos were good. They were closed on Christmas Day and Sunday, and I like that

Unexpectedly delicious. Any time I travel, I study restaurant reviews for that locale and make a Yelp list. Casa Denis didn't make the list. My bad. We came here midweek for dinner after most of the cruise ships had sailed for the day. It took them all of two minutes to find us an outside table where we could people watch and enjoy the mild weather. Service was attentive throughout. But the real reason to come here is the food, which turned out to be the best during our late-December/early January stay on the island. Among our meals -- fried fish, chef's salad and pork shank -- I had the swine and was totally taken aback by its tender succulence. It tasted like Sunday dinner at a Caribbean grandma's house. Rich. Tender. Every bite better than the last. Everyone else enjoyed their meal as well ... not that I was paying much attention, as I was swooning over my pork. Next time I make a Yelp list before coming here, Casa Denis will be written in bold ink.

We came for lunch TWICE during our vacation on the island, that's how good the food is! It is not fancy but some of the best food we had on the island. Mango margaritas- similar to Chuys! YUM! We ordered the garlic shrimp (best!) queso, and pork tacos and steak tacos. (Not all at once, two separate trips!) Our servers were nice and patient with us. Even recommended the tequila tasting next door, very nice people, Try if you like! Casa Denis takes CASH ONLY and only have change in pesos. Nice relaxing spot and good place To people watch here and enjoy the plaza area.

We learned of this restaurant on Triple D so since we were in Cozumel we hunted it out. Very rustic is one way to put it compared to the US but that's ok-that's why we travel. The waiter, an elderly gentleman didn't know English but could understand it and the menu had English too. The seating was outside on a covered patio and inside one room had the cashier and the room to the side was were they cooked. There was a courtyard behind that was another very small eatery for very local people (like one skillet over a burner) and shared restrooms. I ordered chicken fajitas and they were good (not excellent but good) and a huge margarita which was better then average. Others ordered cheese empanadas and things i don't remember. What we all enjoyed was the serenading we had by some local, strolling musicians .

Great location on city center! We love sitting outside and people watching. The service is really good and the food is amazing. We've ordered several dishes and all are cooked fresh and with great flavors. My favorite is the stuffed rellenos. A tip is they are cash only but take US and pesos and the exchange rate is listed on the register.

While strolling the streets one night in Cozumel we stumbled upon this gem! Craving fresh seafood and a Paloma we checked out the menu and hearing they had fresh red snapper was all it took to get us a seat! Boyfriend and I shared the fresh seafood platter for one and some amazing salsa. Our server Paul was amazing. The food was prompt and so fresh. The best part was the almond tequila after dinner on the house. I loved it. I loved sitting al fresco with a view of the sea. The Paloma was perfection. I couldn't ask for a better dinner. The next day I was given a recommendation for Casa Denis. Make sure you stroll through the inside and check out all of the family pictures.

Multiple times a trip we come here for Mayan or Yucatán food. Not the tex mex, only Yucatán. Expats suggested that menu and it delivers. Soups. Tacos, egg dishes. Corn dishes. We try them all. Service is with a smile and English to explain how things are made. Welcomed !! Prices for homemade food, staged like European dining is great. I believe some tourist could feel pressure to drink, but sit down and see through the cruise attitude, focus on the local dishes and learn about them,,,, learn the history of Denis

So I came here based on yelp reviews and FB reviews. Service just plain sucks. I'm hoping the food makes up for the waiter who was bothered to take our order. Mind you, we are the only customers! Update: Food was ok; but, I won't be back.

Carne empanada. Comes with a slaw (not pictured) and costs 7 pesos or less than 50 cents USD!

If you love great tacos, empanadas, and panuchos this is a must-go-to spot. We were on a cruise and walked over to casa Denis (pretty easy to find since it is close to the square in downtown Cozumel). Make sure you go to the back of the restaurant or else you will never see this second restaurant with the real authentic (and cheap) food! Since we looked like tourists a guy came by to ask us what we wanted. You can also order from the front restaurant menu but you can also just look at the tacos/tortas menu hanging up near the front or the fried items from the lady in the back (another menu hanging on the wall - some other people have taken pictures of this already). Most of the tacos are about 1 USD and the empanadas are about fifty cents. We had two fish tacos, two carne empanadas, a panucho (chicken), and two cokes (about 1 USD each). This came out to six USD! The hot sauces are delicious. The red one is pretty spicy so be careful. Would definitely come again if we are in town.

Food was pretty good. The staff was a bit aggressive selling the food. Having said this, I will come back for the food.

If you can get past the moody waiter, the food is actually really good in this place. Try the cochinita pibil tacos!

This place may be more known for their fresh juices but the food menu had a decent spread of choices. What I found to be unique was the bread they use for the tortas. I forgot to ask the server but I believe it was Cemita style bread. The torta did lack the appropriate amount of met I feel. If you are going to serve a sandwich this big, don't make the bite have more bread than meat per ratio. The flavor was good though just wish it had more met in it. For the price they charge I was a bit let down. That is the other thing guys, for some reason the price of this establishment could rival a lot of places in the US so don't assume you will have more cost effective eats as you may find some places are close American pricing. Most likely because of the tourism in the region but I bet you can find the same or similar sandwich on a street stall for about 30-40% less and just as good. Be careful with the green habanero salsa too btw. It is very very very spicy
