The staff was super nice! The Pao de Queijo, empanadas were perfect! The beer on tap perfect!! Excellent selection. Obrigado

The restaurant perfectly embodies the spirit of a Brazilian lanchonete--a casual, cozy spot built around community and delicious, irresistible snacks. Every dish is clearly made with immense care and high-quality, often locally sourced, ingredients. Highlights: Must-Try Dishes The star of the show is, without a doubt, the Coxinha (crispy, teardrop-shaped chicken croquettes)--they are golden perfection, seasoned flawlessly, and impossible to eat just one of. The Pastéis de Forno (baked empanadas) are another highlight, boasting flaky crusts and deeply flavorful fillings. Don't skip the Pão de Queijo (cheese bread); it's warm, chewy, and addictive. Ordered online for pickup in store. Food was ready fast. I got two empanadas - one chicken, one beef. Both tasty! Must get the cilantro sauce with it - helps add layer of flavor and extra freshness. Got the cheese bread dessert - guava inside. Yummy!! Recommend giving this new spot inside the market a try!

Love this little place hidden in the market. If you're wandering the Elmwood area (or nearby in Rockridge) stop and get something to try! People running it are very nice, the food is fresh, and it's definitely a hidden gem. If you have never had Brazilian snacks this is the place to go, coxinha, little pot pies, empanadas, etc. If you like chicken you'll be in heaven here, there are also options for gluten free and vegetarian. They have bowls that are filling and tasty, meat eater and veggie, the cilantro sauce they have to top it off is delicious. Their iced black tea is solid. If you like yerba mate or sweet tea you need to get the copacabana (sweet caramelized iced mate with lemon) There are a few counter bar seats or seating outside in front. They do specials each month so you're likely to see many options come through here. 100% I will be back.

I was travelling through Berkeley on Wednesday 3/18/25, and (I use Yelp when the DDD / Diners, Dives, Drive Ins map has nothing in the area) I checked out this place purely by accident. My husband is from Brazil and we are always checking out local eateries that give him a taste of home. Casa Do Petisco did not disappoint. I got a little bit of everything and even a few Brazilian Sodas to splash it all down. It took days to consume and my favorite item wasn't even on the menu, but so very delicious. I hope the owner sees this review and responds with what the item was. A random guy wandered in and was drawn into our conversation, and was compelled to have that item too. I highlighted the items I got in green and sadly they are all gone now. The only downside, of course, is the parking. It's Berkeley, afterall. Brave Casa Do Petisco, "I'll Be Back"!

Amaaaaazing service and even better food. I did not even know that this place existed just went into the organic store and ran into it. The lady serving us was so kind and patient and that was enough for me to love this place then I get my food and it is even more incredible. Got the slider with prosciutto and my friend got the chicken sandwich and we both finished them in 3 minutes and couldn't believe how amazing it was.

OMG I ate all the coxinhas and the empanada. Good food and nice place. The owner is so gentle !! I highly recommend!

I wrote an English and Brazilian Portuguese version of this review!…read more Wow! Where do I begin? Food five stars! Staff five stars! Venue five stars! It's been a long time since I have personally been around a room full of Brazilians outside of Brazil and felt so happy to be there! My wife and I were looking for a place to watch the Brazil versus Haiti, World Cup game and call a place where I took my first Portuguese lessons 17 years ago called Bossa Nova Brazil. A nice lady on the Phone recommended Brazil bistro and I'm sure glad she did! Outside of my mother-in-law (and my wife) this was one of the best sitdown, traditional Brazilian meals I've had in my life! I didn't catch his name, but I will on Wednesday when we go back to watch the Brazil v Scotland game. Kudos to the chef! He came out several times and was very nice and mingle with everyone and complimented me on my Flamengo jersey The zoo was so fresh and well seasoned. They cooked picanha steak to perfection The Feijão tropeiro, coxinhas, pastel de queijo and much more was so good! I didn't get a chance honestly to try the pastel, but the table next to us had two of them! If this place was closer to where I live, I probably would eat here every other day Outside of going to Brazil this was the best experience I've had in a long time sitting down, enjoying the food, people and the culture and futebol I wish I could give this place 10 If you've never been to Brazil, but want a little taste of it and you're in the El Cerrito California area it's definitely worth stopping by! Brazilian Portuguese: Uau, por onde eu começo? Comida: cinco estrelas! Atendimento: cinco estrelas! Ambiente: cinco estrelas! Eles fizeram a picanha no ponto perfeito.

I nearly walked away from the door when it buzzed and I poked my head in. There's quite a variety of goods here--more Brazilian groceries and goodies than I've seen anywhere else. The prices looked fair for all the (likely imported) foods. It's clean and small, and street parking could be difficult on busy days.

Yep, every time a new family member starts in the business they see me and start talking to me in Brazilian. They've even taught me some of Brazilian Portuguese which is such a beautiful language- but that's hardly the only reason I go there. they have a little tiny but well stocked grocery store that's a culinary adventure into Brazil. they also have a lot of regular customers for their Cheese Bread and some time of sausage I have yet to try but looks pretty good. Honestly I started going there because they were near one of my then children's Saturday activities and they had ice cream treats that were much more affordable than the local hipster fru fru place. but each time I went back I found something new. Like really good hibiscus tea, or the hollow chocolate easter eggs that I learned are dereguir for gift giving in Brasil. And then of course, there's the community bulletin board, mostly in Portuguese, but also advertising English such things as Brazilian festivals, local Fado concerts and Festa Junina - a very special fun Brazilian holiday that takes place around the summer solstice. It's worth hitting the button and letting them buzz you in. no the store doesn't look like much from inside, but sometimes the best presents are in little packages. Also, the same family runs a tax and insurance business, and if you need to ship stuff to Brazil cheap, they can help with that. Oh and they sell any number of Brazil themed clothing items. Very nice people.

Before you've even had any meat, they've got the biggest salad bar you've ever seen with more options than you can imagine. It's a feat in itself to try not to fill yourself up with just sides. They start you off with hot, fresh pao de queijo at your table, they had a chef off to the side making incredible feijoada, and I had a plate full of charcuterie, sauteed vegetables, and fruit...and I hadn't even turned my medallion over to green to start the meat coming! So I was already a happy camper, and then the skewers and the swords came and took me to hog heaven. All the meat was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. And they really kept it coming. Had to cut them off before my plate overflowed. Each time I thought I had enough, they came out with something new that I HAD to try. I thought I would finish with the rare rib-eye (my favorite), but of course I had to have one more, so I ended on the rack of lamb, which was to die for. Our server, Eder, was charming and wonderful. He really took care of us and made us feel right at home. He told us stories of his trips back home to Brazil which really added to the experience. He told us all about feijoada and how it's made, and was so kind and generous to my two daughters...It's that kind of personal touch that's lacking at restaurants these days. It felt warm and classic, like how service used to be. Many thanks, Eder! An upscale, Vegas-style AYCE experience, right in the heart of SF with fantastic service. What could be better? Thank you Fogo De Chao for making us feel like VIPs and for giving us a brunch we'll be talking about for a long time...

The service was pretty slow, and we stood waiting to order for a very long time. The staff members that we interacted with were very friendly, though. The restaurant itself had a great vibe to it, especially if you wanted to hang out & get a beer from their taproom. We tried the Palmito Empanada, Camarao na Tigela, and the Feijoada. We enjoyed the empanada the most, but felt that it was small for the price. Unfortunately we felt that both the Camarao na Tigela and the Feijoada lacked flavor. The ingredients tasted fresh, but the dishes were far more bland than we were expecting. The shrimp in the Camarao na Tigela was very lightly seasoned, though the mango and corn tasted very fresh. My boyfriend used to live in a city that had a significant brazilian population and has had really good Feijoada before, so he was very disappointed by the lack of flavor in the farofa and the stew itself. Overall, the food was simply not our cup of tea! The vibes of the restaurant were really good, I just think the food was a little bland for our palettes. We are glad we got to try it, though!
