Casa Frida is very hyped up, and there is a lot to see but it's actually not as big as it seems. We didn't really walk around too much, but we did eat at their Corazon restaurant. Food was good, not the best but not bad either! For tourists, its a must but I wouldn't care to go back.

This place was a lot more than just a winery. They had 3 restaurants and places to have drinks then they had another place with just beer and wine. We ended up at the beer and wine tasting area which was also like a little shop with things handmade like earrings, necklaces, purses and other cute gifts. The hubby liked their selection of beer they had. He started with tasters and then got a glass at the end just to relax. Want to come back when hungry to try some of their food and cocktails.

The wines were good. My friend fell in love with the first one, a white whose name apparently meant LOVE in the local dialect. Very on brand for her. ‍ We also tried their cheese breads - they had savoury and sweet options. I was team savoury while my friend was all about the sweet because balance, right? Overall, nice little stop to warm up our taste buds, but nothing that blew our minds. Just a casual "hey, we're in Valle" vibe before continuing our wine-fueled adventures.

Trying to get them off of me was not easy and nobody who worked there seemed to care. I got them off and walked away- and they bit my calf so hard that it bled. They were cute and I love dogs- but not great for a fancy place. The entire time they came over to the table and begged for food and jumped up on me. Location was gorgeous and wine was pretty good- tasting was expensive and they poured enough for one sip only. The food was great, but also expensive for such small portions. You'd think after the dogs making me bleed there'd be some generous pours or something- but nope! Some of the tastings were under a single ounce. Overall gorgeous location and great tasting wine and food- but won't be returning due to the outrageously small portions, expensive price, and dining experience with biting and begging dogs.

The wines were fantastic, but what really made the experience stand out was the service. Everyone we interacted with was warm, welcoming, and genuinely excited to share their wines and story with us. Our sommelier was especially wonderful and made the tasting feel personal and relaxed rather than rushed or scripted. One of our favorite parts of the visit was the chocolate and wine pairing that my husband and I did together. Every pairing was thoughtfully put together, and it was so much fun discovering how the flavors changed and complemented each other with every sip and bite. The best surprise of the day? Finding out our sommelier was from the 805! As fellow Central Coast locals, it made the experience feel even more special and gave us an instant connection that we definitely weren't expecting to find in the middle of wine country in Baja.

Service here took a long time to just get menus and initial drinks. We also ordered food that was no longer available. When we did order, the food took near an hour to come to our table. The place was severely understaffed and most of our utensils were dirty. Place offers great views of the vineyard. It's just about the only good thing this place has. Sadly. They do have a "Michelin rated" restaurant inside the building, curious to see what the service there is. Overall, i would say there are so many other wineries around Valle de Guadalupe that offer better services/food and drinks.

After the…read morepolish of Monte Xanic and the artsy moodiness of Bruma, Vena Cava was a totally different speed. Still five stars. Okay, the setting. The roof is literally made of old fishing boats flipped upside down over the cellar. The owner is a retired ship captain, so once you walk inside it all clicks. It's funky and a little weird, and I loved it. Our host was a gem. Knowledgeable, attentive, generous, and so into what he was pouring that he kept slipping us extras to try beyond our tasting. We tried some of their natural wines, and I LOVED them. The orange wine, especially. They reminded me of a good sour beer, kind of funky and tart, and I was very into it. Heads up, though: the rest of my group of four hated them. Natural wines are a love them or leave them situation. After our tasting, we hung out on the grounds and grabbed food from the Troika food truck out front, and honestly, we could have stayed all afternoon. The whole place is so unhurried, and after two more buttoned-up tastings, it was exactly what I needed. Different from the others, not better or worse. I really enjoyed the wine and the whole hangout, and I'll absolutely be back on our next trip.
