Had an incredible meal at Casa Juani. We went there for dinner. Had a reservation at 6:30 pm. First, the restaurant was beautiful and elegantly decorated. Service was top notch from the very beginning and continued throughout the meal. We got a couple of dishes. The Pan: A full loaf of bread that came with salted and smoked smoked butter. As you can see from the lack of picture, the bread disappeared pretty quickly. It arrived warm and the bread was crusty and fluffy, perfectly complimented by the rich European style butter. A perfect way to open the meal with. (4/5) Ensalada del Jardín: Seasonal veggies over two different puree with a sherry orange vinaigrette. Now this is pretty incredible for a salad. The fresh mix of salad greens and seasonal veggies is perfectly complimented by the extremely flavorful puree and fragrant vinaigrette. One of my favorite dishes of the night, though I wish the portion was slightly bigger for sharing. (4.5/5) Lubina Veta la Palma: Sea bass with spinach and garbanzo bean. Perfectly cooked seabass with simply prepared spinach and garbanzo bean. This dish doesn't seem like much but the fish was moist and everything was well-seasoned. A simple but well-executed dish. (4/5) Arroz con Setas: Bomba rice with wild mushroom and shaved peri gold truffle. This is basically their take on a mushroom paella. Extremely well cooked and rich with umami. I wish the there was more of a succarat and the portion was a but bigger, especially if sharing for a party of 4 or more. That said, the rice was very flavorful and perfectly complimented the meat dish. I really could down an entire plate of this. (4/5) Carrilleras de Cerdo: Braised pork cheek. This dish is freaking incredible. Fork tender braised pork cheek that is out of this world. My table absolutely loved this dish and it went very well with the rice. One of the highlight of the night and in my opinion a dish that is a must here. It's rich, succulent, and incredibly flavorful. (5/5) Tarta de Queso: Basque cheesecake. We ended the meal with an incredible Basque cheesecake. As you can see from the lack of picture, it disappeared in seconds. It's different from an American style cheesecake. A little lighter but simultaneously richer in cheese flavor. They did use a type of blue cheese which may be off-putting to some on paper, but the taste is incredible. A perfect way to end the meal and one of the best dessert I've had this year from anywhere. (5/5) Overall, Casa Juani is an incredible experience. The food was amazing and the service is incredible. There are so many dishes to try and we left stuffed with what we got. I will definitely return to the future to try their raw seafood selection and other cooked dishes. Would not hesitate to recommend date night or a special occasion meal here.

Seating is very comfortable. I took this as we were seated early, knowing it would be packed soon

We certainly enjoyed our dinner. We had hoped a special quality space would eventually replace a former favorite list in the pandemic. And it finally did. We so enjoyed our food, I simply forgot to take pix before we just had to eat immediately. Every serving was as beautiful to look at as well as tasty. The servers were well trained as the descriptions were a mix of Spanish and English and for some, like my husband did not recognize all of the terms. So the servers are very helpful to those needing explanation. I am more experienced in the culinary terms. They told us to look through all the categories from tapas to salads to mains so we could place the order in its entirety so they could pace them for appropriate doneness. It did pay off. I have never had such perfectly cooked octopus, as sweet and tender as can be. Not a speck that was tough. One of the tapas was the skewer of bocarones with some pickled veggies and the server indicated to us that we would certainly need two as too small to share. Hint... do it. All servings are fairly small for comparison to other places, so do figure that into your budget before going. It was well worth it. One of our favorites was all on this part of the menu, the shrimp bikini. So light and moist and lucious though you can feel the baby shrimp in your mouth. It was almost sweet in a good way, the exteriors beautifully toasted . The salad was also an example of decadent veggies. Fennel, carrots, mushrooms, small greens and few things escaping me in a fruity vinaigrette that was not over sweet. Dessert was a necessity as I had to try their authentic Spanish flan. Not the canned milk version often seen in this country. True milk and eggs with a brown sugar caramel. The perfect touch and not smothered in whip cream that a lot of places in this country too which I find distorting if the true flavor. This is what my Spanish neighbors made for me in my youth and maybe using some extra egg to thicken to this stage. The cheesecake was good too and the serving size ample to share, more than any other dish. We saw the sea bass at the next table and I think we will have that the next time. My best advice is to accept these prices, and sizes of servings is worth doing for the flavor, quality, and freshness is well worth the splurge for people like us that need to consider the overall cost to enjoy such a special place like this. The decor has been changed considerably from the place we so enjoyed for years, but the structure is still felt . All these aspects will bring us back again. I need to add at the end, we had nice drinks too. I had a passion fruit spritz (NA) and my husband had a favorite local beer. Both just right and complemented the food. They gave a huge selection of wines and you can see the glassed in "wine cellar" as you walk in. Maybe next time!

Came here with a friend for a Sunday night at 6:30pm reservation. The restaurant was busy. We ordered the Navajas - razor clam with bergamot and fennel; Croquetas de jamon; Pulpo and flan. Everything was incredible. Portion size of navajas was kind of small. The other dish portions were decent. My friend and I agreed that we would go back with a larger group so that we can try different dishes. My only critique is I felt like the restaurant seemed really bright. They could dim the lights a bit and maybe throw some small candles on the tables to give it a warmer ambience. Also, service was a little haphazard. We had 3 different waiters wait on us. I mean, it was no big deal. It just seemed a little unorganized.

What an experience!! Went last night (3/5) and they've been open a week, and you would think they've been around for a bit! This is how it's done! Service - from the minute you walked in the door you're greeted, and our table was available/ready (for our reservation) so we were seated immediately, and the service commenced, choices of water, cocktail menu, wine menu and food menu - all explained, and we were given time to decide, no pressure. Everyone was friendly, made you feel like you knew them with their hospitality. Food - WOW, WOW, WOW. I've been to Spain, this food right here is like being there, it transported me back. We purposely skipped lunch, because we had seen the menu, and had our eye on some things, but were suggested other items (which we got) - listen to their suggestions, you will not be sorry. Portions are perfect - the Gilda is literally a 1 bite perfectly balanced gastronomical wonder - and the chefs put their own spin to offer variations. We had the mussel one, and it was straight out of the ocean - just like the oysters - it's amazing when you realize, there is no ocean nearby. Jamon - they carve & serve table side Cinco Jotas - and it is the best Jamon ever. I have never seen that ham in the US, and they have it, even the plate, keeps the ham at a perfect temperature so the fat stays just right. Shrimp Bikini - DAMN. I'm not a bikini fan when I've been to Spain, but here - WOW, think shrimp cheese toast kicked up to 1000. Get the bread. The bread is freshly baked and crusty on the outside, soft inside, and the butters that accompany it - perfectly salted and smoked. Croquetas - I've been known to have eaten a fair amount of croquetas in my day, but these - I don't know what they've done - but they are cream, flavorful, you can taste the jamon, but not overpowering the croqueta.. Delicately balanced and hard to not order every time. Pulpo - charred, juicy, tender - again, no ocean nearby - yet is was so delicate and fresh, and the potato that accompanied it, was the perfect vessel for the char. Our server suggested a 'larger' plate, since we had lots of tapas - and we went for the Iberia Secreto - another religious experience. Do not freak out when you see that it's pink - it's not underdone, this is how pork is meant to be eaten in Spain, it was charred, tender and so flavorful. Ok, and I have to comment on the fries. Perfectly cut fries - and crispy outside, and soft inside. We of course had room for dessert, and went for the churros and the cheesecake. The churros were sooo crispy and flavorful, not that they were flavored, but normally churros taste like fried dough - and it's the dipping sauce that give them flavor - these, don't 'need' to be dipped, not that they have a specific flavor - but the dough/mix is so balanced, that if you forgot to dip, you're still good. The cheesecake. If you've been to Basque Country, you know this cheesecake - but until you come here, you won't know how that Basque cheesecake could be improved. The cheese used has a slight acidic taste, and is perfectly balanced to the char of the cheesecake - and another don't freak out moment - the cheesecakes in Basque area are charred - as in black - this isn't - someone had to take this out the split second - it was gorgeous and delicious at the same time. Wine list - incredible selection of wines, we are wine people - so we will expand outside the Spain zone - as a Portuguese wine was suggested, but we had our eye on a Raul Perez bottle - and got that, and of course it didn't disappoint. But the wines displayed - some I've only seen in Spain, so how they got them blows my mind. Will we be back - enough that when we left, we made another reso for next week. And we can't wait!

Maybe rightly so as their specialized ingredients are harder to get. We sat inside this time though we used to go mostly mid summer and sit out. The patio was jam full last night so we ate inside where it was quite empty early evening during happy hour. My husband had the happy hour special of the evening, a very large serving of large mussels with grilled sourdough and a lucious broth. We also had some small plate tapas and I mostly grazed those. I love Bocarones and they do it so well though for me last night, the peppers were a bit too spicy. But I got the majority of the little fishies, my husband the peppers.. We also had the tortilla papas and the charred Hazel Dell mushrooms which were excellent. The little salad topping on the tortilla was full of specialty greens like fennel fronds and pea shoots. The mushrooms has a warm egg yolk on top to stir into the dressing which was tasty. We finished with their flan which was as good as my Spanish born neighbor made in my youth. I had a very nice tea with it. I was originally going to knock off a star for pricing but honestly, I don't think they have much option these days. But sadly we will go less frequently in the future.

My husband and I were only in Boulder for a few days but we went back a second time since we knew it would be safe for me and we both enjoyed it. I had a pork chop off the specials menu the first night and the vegan cauliflower steak the second night. Loved both, but especially recommend the cauliflower steak. Keep in mind it's tapas style, so your food will show up in the order it shows up, not all at once. Getting second drinks was a little slow as the place got more crowded, but the drinks were good. Non alcoholic cocktail options looked good too -- my husband ordered something off that list but subbed in regular alcohol and was very happy with the results. If you have strong opinions about wine, you might want to google the wine list ahead of time; the wine menu lacks descriptions and the waiters were a little less fluent in pairing recommendations there.

My friend has been telling me about this place so after wee checked out the amazing McGuckins Hardware, this is where we had planned to have dinner. My friend and I both had the #3 and #15 empanadas and both were great! But, i did not like their chimichurri, a little too lemony for me. We also got some alfajores and they were good (I am still trying to finish one of them - they are big!). The USA vs Paraguay FIFA match was on and there was lot of people in here watching. They had a screen projector TV and that worked out great! I'd definitely come back here again to watch soccer if I lived closer! Owner is very nice and this place has a great story! Messi T shirts also sold here and some merch too. They also have ready made empanadas to take home to warm up too! Love this place, so glad I got to try it out with my friends!

While I was there though I was not going to pass up the chance to get some empanadas but since I didn't come with an agenda I just told the guy behind the counter give me two choices of whatever you think is good. I appreciated when instead of questioning or getting confused or asking a follow up he just "you got it boss" and entered in the choices without thinking twice. I knew that he was a real one for this. I got my mate which they have on tap! On tap mate is dangerous but it was very delicious. They had two flavors one mixed with orange juice and one that was simply sweetened (not overly sweet at all. Less sweet than any yellow canned mate you might be thinking of). I tried both choices and the orange juice one was really good but after a full glass I felt a little weighed down. I can't remember the last time I drank that much orange juice. The food comes out and this is where my review is going to get unhelpful. I have no idea what either of these are called and honestly I don't need to know. The flavors were on point for both. One was a traditional seeming empanada with a ground beef mixture on the inside. Not spicy but the flavors were robust. The outer layer of the empanada was also flavorful but fell apart a bit from the heavy sog of beef filling. The taste was still great for all of it and it came with some kind of chimichurri adjacent sauce on the side that was maybe the best thing about the empanada. The second choice was less of an empanada and more of a tart or small pie? It had cheese and corn for the filling and was extremely gooey. Like more gooey than it had any right to be. I don't need to tell you that the combination of crust, cheese, and corn was delicious. If anything it was maybe a little too simple but I could eat that any day of the week and be happy. I got a wonderful table outside under some shade and gave my baby daughter some bites of the meat filling. She loved it. Left after drinking two more cups of the standard mate and felt amazing.
