Came here with a group of friends on Friday for lunch. We just finished a hike and did not have a place in mind. As we were walking down Pearl street, the Italian food smell from Pasta Jay's just hit us and it smelled so good so we decided to come here. We each got a big pasta dish and a salad to share. My jumble shell is so flavorful and delicious. Its the perfect combination of cheese, meats and the red sauce and the portion is massive. I recommend it for anyone that enjoys a bolognese or lasagna. Today is the first day they are back open after 2 weeks doing a renovation and could not be happier. I think the renovation is a bit underwhelming but the food and service could not have been better. Lauren could be one of the best wait person I have ever had. She was absolutely awesome and I hope you manager appreciates her. This is the second location that we've been to. Our first experience was a Moab and I would say it's pretty comparable. We were seated promptly even though it's in a busy location with lots of guests. The staff was quick and friendly and the food is decent. It might be a tad overpriced for the quality but not the quantity. We did order an appetizer and it did come out, unfortunately at the same time as our entrées so we didn't get that full experience, but sometimes that happens. The best thing in our table was the lobster ravioli, which was the feature that day. This restaurant has large windows that they open to the street as well as covered outdoor seating that give an awesome view of the mountains. The vibe inside is cool and screams Italian restaurant. The staff is friendly and attentive. But honestly, the food is not good. I ordered the chicken marsala and it's nothing like any other marsala that I've eaten, but not in a good way. It's baked with peppers giving it a strong pepper flavor--zero mushroom or wine flavor. The "lightly breaded" chicken was pretty much all breading. The pasta was very al dente -- like tough pasta. OUTSTANDING! In so many ways. We started with spinach artichoke dip and it was the best I have ever had! Then for entrees we got Brisket Mac N Cheese and Pasta Carolena. I chose to get my dish without an added protein and it was plenty! They give you WHOLE mushrooms and huge artichokes! The sauce is like no other! The Brisket Mac came with entire slabs of brisket on it and a delicious homemade cheese sauce. The bread with the entrees and the appetizer were both heavenly. I love the entire decor and atmosphere of the place, and the staff were all friendly and wearing their smiles through our whole visit! My family and I came here on a Saturday night around 5pm and were seated right away. By the time we left, people were waiting to be seated. The portions are so huge that we had some leftovers. I got the Georgio Bolognese and it was very delicious. The sauce was a little spicy which I wasn't expecting but good thing I like spicy foods. My brother got the Alfredo Williams. I tried it and thought the Alfredo was too rich. The chicken was nice and crispy. My mom got one of the Saturday specials, Seafood Cannelloni, and liked it. All of the pasta entrees come with garlic bread. It comes before the entree which I wasn't expecting. It was just ok. If you want extra garlic bread, it's $5. The water cups are so small, the waitress kept having to come back. At first, I was waiting for water for a while. We ordered some of the chocolate layered cake & tiramisu to go. The Seafood Stuffed Shells was an amazing special recommended by waitress. The Orgy Pizza was thin traditional crust with fresh toppings and really good as well. Got lucky with parking, so our experience was already off to a great start! Since the restaurant wasn't that busy when we arrived (after the lunch rush,) we were seated right away. I ordered from the lunch menu--chicken piccata--while my dining companions ordered from the specials menu, listed on the chalkboard. Shortly after ordering, the complimentary garlic bread was brought to our table, and it was just as good as the Yelp reviews had said. Although I will say, it could've been a bit less crispy--just a personal preference. When the food arrived, my first impression was that the portions were huge. This is a good thing, so please don't change anything! Presentation was also nice and the aroma was just so heavenly. We absolutely loved our meals, but ended up having to take some food to go. Service was good, but we felt like we were also kind of being ignored by our server once larger parties started filing in. At least we didn't have to flag someone down to pay the tab though. For the quality and quantity, I'd say the cost is very reasonable. Definitely worth another visit. read more

They have outdoor seating, which is fantastic on a warm spring boulder evening. When we got there, there was no line, which was great, but later on the line started to develop, which I get, as the food here was great. Service was good, and the overall experience good. I had the shrimp giacomo which had linguine, shrimp, sun dry tomatoes, in a delicious creamy sauce. I really enjoyed my dish. The cheese bread that we got as an appetizer was pretty good too. The amount of gooey cheese on the flatbread with parsley was great. The complementary garlic bread was good too. Being a Boulder Native, I have eaten at Pasta Jay's for an incredibly long time and have always loved them as a tried and true staple in Boulder. We recently used Pasta Jay's Catering for the first time to cater a large event we were hosting (80 people) that had incredibly tight time constraints to feed everyone and the team was flawless. From the coordination in the weeks leading up to our event where I was able to easily communicate with our coordinator Jackie, who helped create a menu that was perfect; to the day of where everything was ready to rock and roll at 10:30am (we had to have everything ready to serve at noon) for us to pick it up. We elected to pick it up because of access and location, but they did have an option for us to utilize their team for delivery, set up and service (as well as break down). I have used caterers quite a bit for everything from professional events to personal gatherings and this was by far the most easy with some of the best food! They even (without asking) made sure to be mindful of those with dietary needs and provided a pan of vegan & gluten free pasta, and gave us info about allergens in the other items we provided. My mom and I wanted a ~festive~ meal to cap off our day of holiday shopping in Boulder, and Pasta Jay's turned out to be the perfect choice! With red tablecloths and Christmas decorations, it offered exactly the cozy and cheerful vibe we were hoping for. We didn't have a reservation so we had a bit of a wait, but the staff invited us to sit at the bar and enjoy a discounted "welcome drink" (wine or beer), which was a fun way to kick off the meal. About 25 minutes later, we were seated. The waitress was kind and patient as we put off ordering a couple of times. When our plates arrived, they were saucy, cheesy, bready, warm, and delicious--just the way we like our red sauce Italian food. We started with the baked burrata, recommended by our waitress. For our entrees, we chose chicken Parmesan and stuffed shells, both of which were incredibly satisfying. I paired my meal with a Cabernet, which was the perfect touch. By the end of our meal, we were absolutely stuffed, but luckily we had a walk down Pearl Street to get back to our car and work off a little of our indulgence. We really wanted to take home a jar of their sauce, but unfortunately, we forgot. Passing thru Boulder and looked at a bunch of food spots before deciding on Pasta Jays... we ordered meatballs and Brussels sprouts for an appetizer and the waitress brought out only the meatballs that were absolutely delicious but unfortunately they were raw in the middle.. Cute Italian restaurant. The meal started with some crispy and buttery garlic bread. I ordered the bolognese with no pancetta and the waitress was super nice and added some extra sirloin to make up for the no pancetta. Garlic bread: 7/10- a little too crispy and puffy for my taste. Honestly, I feel like the quality and taste here is going down. I first came here with my husband a few years ago during my first visit to boulder and i remember how amazing the pizza here was. I've come here a few times since and every time I feel a little underwhelmed. We came here recently and I brought my parents for them to try pasta Jays. The pizza was okayish, the pasta was meh. I think the one new discovery in their menu for me was the Italian soda which I liked. Ofcourse it was very sweet but different none the less. We were walking around Pearl Street and this place caught our eye because husband's name is Jay. Had to eat here. We walked up and chose the sidewalk tables so we could people watch. Great spot on a beautiful night. I chose the homemade cheese ravioli and husband had the tortellini Alfredo with chicken. Our meals came out steaming hot!
