I love our neighborhood market! Casa Lucas is a great place go when you need a couple of extra items for dinner or you want to stock up on vegetables for the week. It is within walking distance for me so I like to grab a couple of bags and head on over to grab some goods. The fruit and vegetable selection is really good. They have mini avocados that are perfect for a single serving- my husband does not like to eat avocados so it is the perfect size for just me! I have never found these at the larger chain grocery stores. I also find the enchilada sauce in the large cans to be a good price- I can stock up and freeze the portion sizes I need for later use. Customer service is good and they have nice reusable plastic bags at ten cents a pop. If you live in the area and want to avoid the local grocery stores like me, stop by Casa Lucas for your quickly needed grocery items. read more

This neighborhood Mom and Pop trumps the better-known Latino supermarkets in terms of variety of selection. This is also the only spot that stocks frozen Argentinian empanada wraps that taste freshly made. Will always be my go-to spot when cooking Peruvian! read more

I have been going to this store for years and have always enjoyed the fresh produce and how clean the store is/was. However, since they opened the meat market I have noticed a foul smell and too many flies. Very convenient market to pick up fresh fruits, veggies for a very reasonable price, rather than Safeway, Lucky's. They have a ample selection of produce and keep bringing in fresh items. I have been shopping here for YEARS, fresh produce at great prices. NEVER again! I got a bag of their fresh tortilla chips, potatoes, and a few other items. The chips had a dead fly in the bottom of the bag! I noticed since they opened the meat market there are lots of flies in the store. But when I opened the bag of potatoes I was shocked! It smelled fishy and the potatoes were rotten and covered in maggots! read more

I went to this store yesterday (Sunday)to buy bacalhau, which is something I love to eat once in a while. I was sold something that looked like it, although it had no skin on and it should have been the clue for me. At home I treated it the same way I always do, soaking the fish in cold water and change it every 4 to 5 hours and after all that, today (Monday) cooked it and it became tough and not silky and flaky as it supposed to be. Straight away I could tell it wasn't bacalhau and I was so disappointed by this con. By selling this dry fish at $8.99/lb and advertising as bacalhau is very wrong. I complained to the store and hope they will stop selling "cat for rabbit" which is what they are doing at the moment read more

The store is good and all but the OWNER of this store is not fit to be a store manager! He's very disrespectful and not professional at all! And it's not the leader of the store it's the Owner of the store himself. Today I witnessed him screaming at a employee today about money missing in the cash register while customers and myself were around to be helped. The employee looked as she was barely starting to work there. As a store owner he could've handle the situation differently like taken the employee to the office or somewhere private for a discussion. Screaming at his employee in front of customers is such an insult and embarrassment. It doesn't matter how big the situation was. When he left I heard other employees talk to the employee who he yelled at not to worry because that's how he is but that's definitely NOT acceptable! He needs to learn how to treat his employees with RESPECT and COURTESY if he wants his store to increase and become greater. So for that experience I rate this a low star. As a customer, who wants to go to a store and witness the store owner screaming at his employees? That's a no for me. read more
