I have come to this location dozens of times over the years. What happened?!?!? My friend and I were there today (8/11/26) and ordered shrimp fajitas. I asked for whole beans, not re-fried. I got re-fried. The shrimp was OLD. Or maybe reheated over and over. The waitress asked if we wanted something else like chicken, we asked for chicken super burritos with everything on it. Another disappointment. It was not fresh shredded chicken, but cut into small chunks that also tasted old. Did NOT have: guacamole, sour cream, lettuce, salsa or rice. Just old chicken with a few beans and a solid glop of cheese. Another reviewer commented that the wait staff are very unfriendly and I would have to agree. That said, I'm giving three stars because the staff could be friendlier. Most of the time, they don't seem particularly cheerful or welcoming, and there's often a hint of attitude at the register. If they improved the customer service--being more polite, upbeat, and communicative--it would easily bump up to four stars. What the hell is this? Que chingados es esto? My husband ordered 2 plates of huevos rancheros. He got one with red sauce and no tortilla underneath. The 2nd plate was 3 fkn eggs with rice n beans! All he told them was to not add extra onion on my plate. But looking at his plate 1st, I already was so disappointed and was afraid to look at my plate. I told him before he ordered that I didn't want anything from there and this is why! they shouldn't call his huevos rancheros. If I want over easy eggs, I could have made them my self and better. This place has gone down hill in recent years. Don't get me wrong, it's a good place for a quick shop but weekly groceries are expensive. Plus, I hate hearing the disgusting things the butchers have to say about the female customers! They say it in Spanish as if they're talking about meat but the sexual innuendos are obvious. If I absolutely don't want to drive to Hayward, I will go here as a last resort but I honestly don't feel comfortable unless my husband goes with me or I send him. Absolutely unacceptable. My wife and I were sexually harassed at this store by the butchers working in the back. This happened on January 29th, and I've held back from writing this until now, but I can't stay silent. As we were ordering meats, one of the men began asking my wife personal questions, trying to flirt with her while she clearly expressed discomfort. They assumed she didn't understand Spanish well, but she caught them saying in Spanish, "That woman in the front? She fine as s**t," and other sexually charged comments--right in front of customers. My wife was visibly uncomfortable and just wanted to leave. I didn't react emotionally. I kept my composure, took our food, and we walked out. But the disrespect, the harassment, and the complete lack of professionalism were disgusting. Today, I called to report it to the manager. A woman and a man answered at different times--both lied and told me there was no manager. They refused to give a name or help. I even called the Better Business Bureau, but since it's the weekend, no help was available. So I'm posting this review to expose what's happening at this place. I would never recommend this store to anyone. If you care about your wife, your daughters, or just basic decency, avoid this place. This wasn't a one-time thing--I know for a fact this kind of behavior has happened there before. Let this be a warning. My favorite Mexican joint in San Leandro. I've been coming since High School! It's half restaurant with seating, half market. Private parking on both sides of the building (convenient!) I never shopped the market but they do carry fresh Mexican bread, produce, canned goods & a meat table. Now the Los Pericos hot food inside so yummy! I've ordered the burrito, pozole, quesadilla, regular tacos & hard shell tacos. Everything is always full of flavor and cooked consistently. My favorite is the pozole. Plus the crispy chicken tacos! We go here for the mini restaurant...We don't really buy anything at the mercado. No frills ambience, but 5 stars for food quantity and taste. Solid, hefty options for your $s. Birria is great, chicken enchilada is delicious, and so is the lengua and cabeza. This spot is better than the other Los pericos locations. Covid masking is done by customers and staff, and hand sanitizers are available. Folks respect social distancing while waiting in line. This review doesn't have to do with the quality of food because we have been getting burritos here for about 7 years, we actually drive all the way from Alameda to go there. The food is good however the way my husband was treated over asking for chips and salsa was pretty rude and petty. The chips use to be out for self service but now they have it where you have to ask which is fine. At Mexican restaurants typically they bring you as many chips and salsa as you want, no big deal- chips are cheap AF. The bags they have are tiny as well as the containers of salsa so we always ask for 6-8. Never has a problem. I might add we spend at least $30-35 Everytime we come. Chips and salsa are not costly and I've worked at many restaurants you can't keep stuff like that for following days because it won't stay fresh. This time a younger guy (possibly the manager?) told my fiancé he would have to pay for CHIPS and SALSA. He also made my fiancé feel embarrassed for asking. Like that is hurting the business?? Not always good for a large grocery run but they have a lot of the basics and nice tacos, nachos, burritos, etc. My only complaint would be the grandpa type figure who always sits by the door. The place is clean and the staff is nice. It's closer to my house than the downtown location and usually less busy. Big plus is they have their own parking. I used to order food to go from them all the time and it was just as good as in their downtown location. Unfortunately, not any more. I thought it was a one time thing but it kept happening several times in a row. The last few times the carne asada meat in my burrito smelled and tasted off, so did carne asada in my kids quesadilla and carne asada plate. We threw out so much food. We came here by accident because we thought we called our regular Los Pericos spot in Pelton Center but found out they have this other restaurant location down the street. They have a parking lot here, which is a plus. They have a pretty big market and then a smaller version of their restaurant off to the the side. They gave us paper bags to fill with chips, so we got way more than the other locations. We got our regular order: super fish burrito, super nachos with asada and everything seemed pretty similar. My fiancé said the meat was even better here. Their prices are even a few cents cheaper. I think this might be our new spot. read more

Los Pericos is not only our go-to taqueria but also for fresh, quality meat. It's actually less expensive than Costco for many of the cuts. I also shop here for other groceries including Salvadorean and Oaxacan Crema, spices, fresh cotija and produce. Service is quick and helpful. read more

This taqueria is good when things are normal! During the pandemic they could do better. I usually order by phone and pick up. Yesterday I decided to go in and order. I watched the food being prepared and was disappointed. Two cooks took masks off and back on from time to time. One food prep person did not have gloves nor a mask on while handling the chips. So I ended up just tossing the chips, cant risk it. Some masks are only covering the mouth and not the nose. Some food is handled without gloves. So I dont think we will be ordering from here again until things are safer. read more

The food at Los Pericos Market is slightly less on certain food items than Taqueria Los Pericos. Here the super burritos are $8.25 and at Taqueria Los Pericos $9.00 a 75 cents difference for the exact same size burrito. Everything on the menu looks really good and you can't help it stare at the big portion plates the customers are enjoying as you walk in. The tacos are $2.50 and do seem a bit small. Tacos at Taqueria Los Pericos are $2.75 and are loaded with meat. You can never go wrong with their 100% Juice menu. I always get the #9 beet, carrot, and oranges. The mini market also comes in handy for quick light grocery shopping. People mostly come here for the food. As for their menu. Their prices are good for certain food items like I mention above. This is a cool little market where you can buy fresh produce and find basic cooking needs for making a Latin/Mexican dishes. Kinda like a Mexican 7-11 lol. They stock up on the essentials. There is a full butcher and meats section in the back that is great for a large barbecue or just that meal to make your own arroz con pollo, chorizo con huevos, steak and much more. There is also a taqueria inside and i haven't been disappointed. There is ample parking on site and on the street. Specifically catering the Spanish speaking community they do speak English as well.
