I go here for lunch all the time. Great, quick food. Really nice servers. Fantastically affordable. Quiet and relaxing. Chips and salsa are fresh and tasty. They serve both a picco di gio and a traditional salsa-- all made in-house. I often order the chicken tamale, which they fill with chicken, cheese and chilis and top with red sauce and cheese. It's pretty damn tasty. I've also had the encheladas, taquitos and tacos which have all been delicious. Free chips and salsa with your order! Had the Mexican burrito with pork for under $10 and it was more than enough for a lunch (I was full for hours)! The burrito is soft and wet, the meat was well cooked and there was nothing really too bad to complain about the taste unless you like some spice in your life and want it to blow your mind. The food and drinks are generously portioned here. I've tried their enchiladas, the chimichangas, carne asada and tostadas and been satisfied with everything I've had here. I usually get the piña colada here - it's a bit sweet but you will like it if you like sweet drinks. There are two things I look forward to at this place: 1. We ate here 4 nights in a row! Nuff said? I am from San Diego and I think you can tell a lot about a Mexican place by their beans and salsa. Casa Lupe's are both outstanding. They were packed each time we came in - one day after another - to enjoy the local cuisine. As a vegetarian who eats fish I sometimes feel like I am close to enjoying some of my old favorites, and then am sadly disappointed. Not here! I was allowed to get a crunchy taco with shrimp!! Typically places will only do flour tortillas or soft corn...this was a huge treat I definitely took advantage of!! The drinks are strong and the portions are huge. Their staff is AMAZING! The taco shells were soaked in grease, the shells were filled with shredded lettuce a sliver of chicken. The chicken was poor quality and tasted gamey.We were sitting in a very empty restaurant on Castro on Saturday night....it took 10 min to even take our order. I came in super hungry for dinner (having skipped lunch). Still found the food bland and meh. Interestingly, I noticed that everyone's food looked similar. And the two dishes we ordered tasted similar too - bland. There was nothing great about the service. The complimentary chips were not flattering either. The food is definitely overpriced. Bueno, muy bueno. This is our go to neighborhood Mexican food. One margarita is sufficient, but a pitcher is fun to share. My usual order is enchiladas suizas, creamy, chicken-y, filling delightful hot plate. Friends and family have never complained about what they have eaten here either. Their lunch specials are a good bargain for the amount of food you get. It is a small restaurant, tucked a little away from the busier part of Castro, so it never seems crowded, in the five years I've been going here I've waited for a table once. I've been to other Casa Lupe locations in the past, and have always been pleased with the food and the service. This was my first first to the Mountain View location, and I was not really impressed. The service was excellent, no fault there - however the food left something to be desired. First of all - the chips and salsa that were brought to the table. The two types of salsa was excellent as usual, but the chips were so stale you could bend them. I ordered the the beef taquitos, and they were so oily that there was an oil puddle on the plate. Oil was not hot enough maybe? This was my first visit here, and I will give it another try before I write it off. Sunnyvale and Los Altos locations are outstanding however. read more

Nothing special. Found a bunch of tortilla pieces in my side of guacamole. I think they recycle it from other tables. As other people have pointed out, you have to make quite an effort to be noticed if you want a menu, to order your food, to receive the items actually ordered, and to get the check. Casa Lupe Mountain View - The quiet after the lunch rush - Mexican Near Me - Mountain View, California

Came here with a friend last night and hands down I had the better experience than my friend. Our server was nice but also a bit slow, not sure if it was because we were sitting outside or not. They give you 2 types of salsa both of which are pretty good, but neither were spicy to me. We also ordered a side of guacamole which I thought was pretty good. For food I got the carne asada burrito and had the beans substituted for more carne asada. My friend got some chicken enchiladas. I though my burrito was fantastic, the meat was cooked nicely and there was a very generous amount of meat. The burrito came with no sides however and that is my only issue with it. I tasted my friend's chicken enchiladas and the chicken didn't have any flavor to them. I would probably come back if I am around the area and felt like a burrito. I would probably stay away from any of the chicken items unfortunately due to the bland chicken. Price wasn't to bad, it came out too be around $35 for all the food plus a coke and a pina colada. I would have given Casa Lupe 4 stars had it not been for the chicken. read more

Sorry, Casa Lupe, I will not be returning. My husband and I were looking for a new Mexican place to try, and we decided to come here. It started off well enough, but then I got my dinner. I had ordered beef fajitas. What came out was not even sizzling, had squash and olives and tomatoes on it, and tasted like greasy chinese food. How does that happen? I don't even remember the dish my husband got, but he did enjoy his mixed drink. The other problem I had with this place is that we were the only people eating outside, and the server basically forgot about us. We had to wait and wait for the check and then wait and wait for them to pick it up and then wait some more to bring it back. I walked by a few times and it's always busy so I decided to stop in with my husband about an hour before closing. There were several tables open so I thought service shouldn't be too frantic. We were greeted by a sweet, lovely lady who said she'd be with us in a minute, but we were eventually helped by a not so sweet, scowl on her face looking lady who was rude AF. She walked by our table multiple times without checking in to see if we were ready to order. It took at least 15 minutes before she came back to take our order. Food came out pretty quickly, but no one checked on us between dropping off the plates and picking them back up. I usually go to the one in Sunnyvale but they are closed on Sundays so my family went to this one instead. Honestly, I'm so disappointed not only in the food but the service! The service was HORRIBLE! My family and I walk in and it is smaller than I was expecting which isn't their fault, I understand. We were sat in the corner of the restaurant and as it got darker outside, the store wasn't getting any brighter. It was so dark in there I was scared I'd trip over something walking out. When we sat down, there was one person taking drink orders and another taking the entree orders and those were the only two people I saw the whole dinner that was waiting on customers. They definitely need more staff. I feel bad because I know the waitresses have a hard job but I still feel like being courteous and attentive is a must. Our drinks took forever to come out and the drink waitress would fill one cup but not any of the other ones. I got my food which was a chimichanga ala carte and something didn't taste right. I took another bite and realized it was the guacamole. It was sour and tasted rotten but the color was normal! I took it off but the chimichanga itself wasn't satisfactory as it was not crunchy and it was very bland. When we finally saw one of the waitresses come out from the kitchen, we called her over to ask for boxes. Minutes after we asked, she dropped them off and walked away. We didn't have the opportunity to ask for the bill. Although we also just assumed she would bring it to us because we had asked for boxes. Right as we took out our credit card, she swooped in and grabbed it right away. Honestly, we didn't see anyone helping on the floor for a good portion of the time and we had to ask for everything. We were waiting for a while for our food and the main waitresses was very rude and never smiled or asked if we needed anything. She would just drop the items off and walk away. She also had a lot of perfume on which didn't sit well with my meal. read more

This place has wonderful California enchiladas and margaritas. Since moving to Mountain View a few months ago, this is our go to place. I just wish they're service was a little more tentative to the customer. We love to order their tamales by the dozen. They store great in our freezer. read more
