Located on almost the tail end of downtown off Calderon lies this gem that has been around for years and years. I remember going to my Freshman and Sophmore years in HS with the girl whose family owns this place. I try to return when I am in downtown Mt View, Back in the 1990s when I lived nearby on Calderon I would come in here all the time, it was a quick walk, like 50 yards, if even. The place is spotless like usual, very friendly and attentive staff. I like all the decorations that they have up. Makes you feel like you are in Mexico somewhere. We arrived early and the outside and main dining area were jammed packed. I took pictures of the back room where the rest rooms are so you can see the great art work. By 7pm, it was complelty full. Had the Mole Enchilladas and it was very good. By the time you have the tortilla chips and chile and whatever you are drinking, you get filled up. Hate to write negative reviews but it's been about 3-4hrs since I've visited this place and I've been experiencing heartburn for the past couple of hours. Ordered carne asada plate and it came with huge portion of 2 meat chunks but unfortunately it tasted pretty bad. The rice and beans were alright. The meat had weird smell to it and tasted as if it was first boiled and then thrown in the pan or grill? My friend and I both ended up leaving the meat and only ate the rice and beans. The dish would have had a better potential of different part of the meat was chosen and was prepared better. read more

We have enjoyed eating at La Fiesta for about 40 years! It's a great Mexican restaurant. My wife can't have cilantro. Most Mexican restaurants pre-make food with cilantro already added. At La Fiesta, the food is made to order and it can be made exactly the way the customer wants. On a recent visit we had our favorite dish: Chicken with Grandma's Special sauce. This is a chicken breast smothered with a very delicious, thick, yellow sauce. Fantastic. The normal order of this includes rice, refried beans, and tortillas ($26). As I am avoiding carbs, the served it for me a-la-carte (without the rice, beans, and tortilla) for $24. The decor hasn't changed much over the years, with interesting artwork and things hanging from the ceiling, giving the dining areas a festive feel. You will enjoy your meal here! read more

Never disappoints! Cute ambiance, welcoming staff and of course yummy food and drinks. My love for Mexican food expanded from years living in Austin. Still haven't found the Tex-Mex fix that measures up but La Fiesta has been the closest in satisfying my taste buds. The portions are generous and food is always fresh and hot. The cheese enchiladas are my go to comfort food here. The vegetarian burrito gets honorable mention too. For the brunch lovers the weekend menu includes some egg based dishes. If you need anything along the way - more chips, salsas, a refill, a napkin, whatever - it will honestly take you multiple tries to get it. It was very frustrating to ask for the basics like water or a straw and then have it go 4-5 mins without anything and then having to ask someone else. La Fiesta is a restaurant my husband has been talking about even before we got married and even though we have tried multiple times to go, we were not able to given for one reason or another. However, this past Valentines day we finally gave this spot a shot and I am so glad we did! This definitely feels like a fun cute homey Mexican spot and you can tell it's very popular as there was a wait. They only do walkins but thankfully after 30 minutes we were able to get a table. For food both the husband and I got Grandma's enchiladas. Now let me tell you this was DELICIOUS! The sauce is to die for and both the hubby and I were absolutely satiated. We got the veggie and chicken enchiladas and both were delicious. The plates also came with rice and beans which was awesome. They had messed up on my husbands order who wanted 1 chicken and 1 veg, giving 2 veg but when we told them they gave us another chicken enchilada. Customer service was absolutely great! Interesting hidden spot close to Sunnyvale area. A friend recommended I try this place. It wasn't bad! The only reason I wouldn't rank it 5 stars was because my "burrito" was more of an enchilda. We ordered a veggie "burrito" and I got the grandma especial "burrito". The top was smothered with a tasty orange chipotle sauce. I would've enjoyed it a little more if there were some other veggies in this "burrito". The veggie one was good too(obviously this one had veggies) I've just never had a burrito with only meat. This is a great authentic restaurant off the beaten path of Castro Street in downtown Mountain View. They have all the traditional dishes you'd expect at a Mexican restaurant. La Fiesta Restaurant in Mountain View has a nice, casual sit-down vibe and friendly service. The mole was the highlight -- rich and full of flavor. Some of the other dishes were just okay for us. The fajitas didn't come out sizzling, the carne asada was a little on the dry side, and the shrimp were small and a bit overdone. The chips weren't warm, though maybe warm chips are too much to ask these days. I'm addicted to their chicken rice soup. How do they make that broth?? If they sold it in bulk I'd buy a year's worth and freeze it and sip some every day as a breakfast drink. Servers are attentive but it gets really busy on weekends so sometimes there can be a bit of a delay in taking your order. The fresh chips and salsa are great and we haven't tried anything we haven't enjoyed. The only downside is that this place is a bit on the pricier end for a casual Mexican restaurant. We love Grandma's special recipe meals, and exploring around the menu generally. I got the tapatio chicken last time and it was delicious! Special shout out, the last time we went we brought a family member who cannot eat things cooked in canola oil, or gluten, and they were able to recommend not getting rice + beans as those are cooked in canola oil, and they got him a salad instead. The staff here are incredible, the food is so solid, the salsas with the chips are actually spicy, we love it! And prepare for good cheesy dishes!! My Go To Spot! La Fiesta is a community GEM. The food, drinks, and decor are amazing. The staff is extremely friendly and the ambiance is great! I see families, corporate parties and people on dates. Always feels like home. I have so many favorites, the Bistec Ranchero, Grandmas plate or enchiladas, Mole, and caldo de pollo aka chicken soup on a cold day. Came by on a Saturday night to a packed restaurant. It seemed understaffed as our waiter was running around quite a bit and was only able to get to us occasionally. They have a full margarita menu, and the one I tried was excellent. The food was solid and had considerable portion sizes. read more

Just finished my left overs and I am so sad because I wanted them to last forever! I got the lightly breaded Tiger prawns in chipotle sauce and that sauce had soooo much flavor and a little kick which I loved! Incredible! My husband got the burrito in Grandma's sauce and loved it (be aware it's not how you would picture a burrito from a taqueria, more like a large enchilada). Also the flan is delicious! Regarding our server, we loved him! He was very honest on what he thought was best which was exactly what I needed because I go crazy when I ask for a recommendation and the server just says "everything's good". People always rave about the grandma sauce here, so I always wanted to try it with the enchiladas as I love getting those at sit down Mexican restaurants. For vegetarians they have both a vegetarian enchiladas and cheese enchiladas. I always go with the cheese because having cheese is better than only vegetables. The grandma sauce was very creamy, but had that sour cream and chilli test to it. My friend said it tasted like butter chicken LOL so I see why a lot of people like it. The tomatillo salsa was tangy and tasted great too. The plate looks messy with the beans and rice but they were both solid too, with the rice being a tad firm. I didn't appreciate that getting two salsas costed $2 extra instead of a single salsa though. I definitely enjoyed the meal and it was tasty. I would definitely come here for this grandma sauce, but definitely don't think I can eat a whole plate of it. read more

Came here for dinner on a Friday evening with our pup and sat outside. There was a plate with some chicken pieces that was absolutely crawling with ants. We asked if it could be moved as I was worried 1) the ants might crawl over my small pup, 2) that my pup might go for the ant infested chicken and 3) it was extremely unappetizing. They said no....ok fine! I got the colima cocktail which was sweet and refreshing and my boyfriend got the world famous margarita which was also good. Chips and salsa were a disappointment. Chips were a bit stale, not warm, and the salsa was INSANELY spicy...like should come with a warning spicy! We asked for a milder salsa but they said they didn't have any which seemed surprising as it was just a liquidy insanely spicy sauce, like imagine just tapatio in a container... I ordered combination 9 with a Grandma's especial chicken enchilada and a cheese quesadilla while my boyfriend got the Grandma's especial chicken chimichanga. Both were great, the only thing that bugged me was that the chicken in there was not white meat chicken. Considering the menu said it was chicken breast, I expected white meat chicken. Came here for the Grandma's Especial and although it may look like butter chicken it's in fact this delicious pepper sauce with cream! It has pulled chicken in it and comes with rice, beans, and tortillas on the side. Such a great meal, I shared it with my friend and we had plenty to go around (including the chips with the super spicy salsa they give you in the beginning). The soup has a massive portion size and is served in a glass bowl, almost like a glass mixing bowl! 10/10 recommend this soup The servers are friendly and worked quickly to bring out our food. The restaurant is decorated very authentically and has great art/ambiance. When the weather is nice there are options to sit outside, however the tables are in the parking lot next to cars so its not the best view. To begin with, you MUST GET their flan and the signature grandma sauce! MUST! We came in for early dinner on a saturday and the place was decently packed even at 6pm. The service is great, everything was quick including service and bill payment. We got some enchiladas in both mole and their grandmas special sauce and it was so yum. While the chicken ones were full of meat and stuffed, I did have complaints on the vegetarian enchilada. I mentioned I wanted no cheese and more veggies inside and they only gave me onions and tomatoes in the stuffing which is very underwhelming. I would have liked to see some spinach or corn maybe?
