First of all I have to admit the food was great but it stops there. I have NEVER EVER SEEN STAFF SO RUDE. Living in Southern California I have encountered racism but it is always hidden but here it was very obvious, beside us there was another family that the looked like they are from Middle East those guys left without ordering, however we decided to stay because A. it was near our hotel B. We where so exhausted to go anywhere else the waiter practically through the dishes at our table and any conversation end up in a grunt from him as if we are beneath him to even talk to us at the end he sent someone else to collect the money and didn't bother to show his face. Same waiter on other tables did chat cheerfully so it was us not him. They didn't hide their disgusted look at us simply because my wife and I were speaking Farsi!!!!! SHAME ON YOU read more

Very good! First night out for dinner in Rome and Casa Maria didn't disappoint. Both the tomato pasta and mushroom pizza were very tasty. Pasta was aldente but just right and the crust on the pizza was airy and thin. For dessert we had the Caremel Crema, it was just okay. They were out of tiramisu. Tourist Trap, avoid! I may be giving a slightly lower rating than I would have normally, but after reading what other people wrote about this place I thought that it was lavishly overrated. Two reviews by tourists stating that this is the most authentic restaurant in Rome.... Amazing that you could determine what exactly is authentic while on vacation and then determine that this restaurant is in fact "THE MOST AUTHENTIC RESTAURANT IN ROME"! 1. Authentic Italian restaurants do not serve canned olives, those are reserved for tourist traps. 2. I have had better Italian food in many other countries, and certainly way way better food in my three days in Rome. We ordered a charcuterie board and it was so uninspired and horribly banal. (I had another charcuterie board on this trip and it had several varieties locally made cheese, presented cleverly in oven roasted tomatoes or with freshly made fruit preserves, a variety of local charcuterie and FREE bread and samples of their amazingly succulent and aromatic porchetta) read more

We visited Rome on New Year's Day and had just finished touring the beautiful Basilica of Saint Mary Major. After a long day of sightseeing and walking around the city, we desperately needed a place to eat dinner. A quick Google search showed us that Casa Maria had great reviews and was right across the street! We are so glad that we chose to stop by! Both of our meals were delicious, and I especially enjoyed the gnocchi with meat sauce. The "torta del giorno" or "cake of the day" was strawberry cake, which we obviously had to order. We stopped in here for lunch as it was located near our hotel room and right next to Santa Maria Maggiore. The 3 of us had pasta, a salad and a thin crust pizza. The food and service were both very good. We had a seat that was just inside but in front of a large open window. We were approached twice during our meal by people asking for money but to no fault of the restaurant. Prices for lunch were reasonable and we would recommend Casa Maria. read more

The restaurant is very close to our hotel. Took us only 5 minutes or so to walk there. The food is very good. I had the ravioli with porcini mushrooms and truffle and it was delicious. Dessert was so good. The service is wonderful and wveryone made us feel very welcome. The prices are very good for the quality of food. Excellent food. The head waiter was a little harried tonight by a large tour group and recommended we order certain dishes to avoid a long wait. It was good advice. Mushroom risotto had firm grains of rice and mushrooms with a nice texture. Not gluey but lighter. Lasagna was incredible! One of the best ever. On our last two nights of a 14 day vacation in Greece and Italy we joyfully ate our dinners at Casa Maria. Wonderful house wine for 5 euros,Panna cotta with lemon cello poured on top, the best tiramisu we ever had. My seafood pasta served sealed aluminum foil was heaven. Calzone,mama Mia! Oh my goodness; Italy has set the bar sooooo high at our first restaurant here! We picked a place at random; Casa Maria, primarily for its view of Santa Maria Maggiore right across the street. The food was simply to die for! The house red wine was better than almost anything we've had in the U.S. The "penne with an anger" was cooked at just the right amount of al dente, with a peppery red sauce that was simply spectacular. Your mouth kept up a pleasant tingle all through the pasta course, reminding you of the nirvana you jut experienced. The roast chicken with sweet red peppers was incredibly delicious! Then the lemonccino appertif was both sweet and tart, at the same time, without the unpleasant arguement between its ingredients that so often often occurs with a lesser beverage. TO top it off, the host brought over a special dessert for my wife, who had (not so) casually mentioned that it was her birthday. It was a thick custard with dusted cocoa topping and a chocolate licquor center that was, not to be too over the top, the best thing I ever had in my mouth! So I guess I'mm saying that I strongly recommend this restaurant, if you're anywhere on the European continent! read more

Sad because the food was delicious, servers were great, but our main dishes took over an hour to come out. An hour after our caprese salad was brought out, we had to tell them we had somewhere to be and asked to cancel our pasta dishes before they said they would be out in five minutes. We asked to get them brought out in to go boxes. Our pasta dishes were great, but my boyfriends lasagna wasn't even fully cooked- and... they completely forgot about the salad I ordered. I went to this restaurant based on yelp reviews and that it was near where i was staying. Overall the restaurant was average, food was like what I could get back home, the tomatoes in the bruschetta tastes a little off. Also a small thing but with Rome charging for water most places give you 1 L for around 2 euros. This place was 750mL for 3 euros. Plus they charge a 15% service charge which this is the first restaurant that had done that. read more
