What a great little gem in East Grand Forks, Minnesota! We were quickly seated on Black Friday evening and our server Neal was lightening fast to attend to our needs. The freshly cooked tortilla chips were brought in a large basket along with individual little salsa bowls and a small carafe of salsa!! What a brilliant idea!! No double dipping into a community bowl of salsa!! The salsa was really tasty tasty with enough of a bite of spiciness to not quite deter us from eating more. We asked for more salsa and it was brought out in another little carafe. I ordered a skinny margarita and it was brought out in a huge mug!! Fabulously delicious margarita and by my second one, I was feeling mighty good! The food came out very fast after ordering which is nice, but also means our requests are mostly ignored. My daughter wanted more jalapeños in her fajitas dish and my husband wanted one enchilada to be beef and one chicken but both came out with chicken. My son's combo dish of beef enchilada and beef burrito were a little boring as there wasn't more added to the insides like onions or chilies or cheese. He said the meat was good though. I ordered Pollo Los Cabos and the dish had slices of chicken pounded thin like schnitzel beneath a layer of sautéed onions and mushrooms in a white cheese gravy. Three perfectly cooked shrimp topped the dish and complimented the flavors well. Delicious but not spicy. I come here or DoorDash here mainly because it's one of the few places here in town that sells horchata, which is pretty good. However, the food isn't anything to write home about. I typically get the chimichanga dinner which is pretty good, but not amazing or anything. There has been a few times where I order the chimichanga with shredded beef, on DoorDash, and they give me ground hamburger meat instead, which completely ruins the dish. But on the times where they actually put the shredded beef, it's yummy! Additionally, when ordering on DoorDash, they will give me a completely different drink which sucks because the horchata is much more expensive than the regular drinks. The service is pretty quick and friendly, but I would just be cautious when ordering from this place on DoorDash as you might not get exactly what you ordered. If another place in town started selling horchata (except for Chara's & Tequila), I'd take my business to them as the volatile service isn't worth the quality of their horchata. But for now, Casa Mexico it is! read more

I heard this food was better than some of the other Mexican places in the area, so my expectations were high. The beans are delicious and the enchilada was good but could have used more sauce. I order this combination when I try a new place and I've never had the tostada completely buried under all the beans. It's an odd choice and makes it impossible to eat like an actual tostada. I'm surprised the vegetarian plate isn't offered with rice as a side, as it is every other place I've gotten this combination. I bought a side extra and it was very good. I was skeptical given the ratings. We were craving tho and, let's face it, chain Mexican restaurants are not only a far cry from Mexican food, they're also not good. We gambled & won The music wasn't gimmicky and the dining area was aesthetically pleasing. Seating is at different heights, giving the illusion of a larger space. It was also clean and well-appointed. We were "those people" - we walked in at 858pm with a 930pm closing time. Desperate times my friend, desperate times. At this point we expected an eye roll, a sigh, subpar service. NOPE! We were warmly greeted and given a booth and some time to browse the menu. It is a vast menu. My eyes were again bigger than my stomach and I thought I needed a full meal. Chips & salsa out- the chips are room temp, the salsa was tasty & at a nice mid-spiciness level. I got the #50 & said no rice. It came out with rice and the gal caught it immediately. She was going to take it back. I declined. I only said no rice because I knew I would eat it & didn't want to waste it. I didn't waste it, I piled it on my husband's plate! I was offered additional beans but declined. I had PLENTY to eat. My chicken was tender & juicy - easily cut with a fork. The mushrooms added a lovely earthiness, while the tomato cut through the richness, all brought together with sauce and cheese. I kept eating it long after I was stuffed, until I realized my husband was taking the rest of his home - so I piled more on his plate. We were overly-full & satisfied. worst Mexican place to go eat at I would never recommend it so disappointed. I've never been so disappointed with my Latin community humiliated by them just by wanting food a certain way I asked for my tacos with my vegetables on the side and they made my order wrong and they put everything on top so I told him this is not how I my order and then they said I will bring it back right as they ended up just cooking the vegetables with the meat and bring like that, everything on the side with the vegetables on the my tortillas on the they weren't even tacos anymore the waiter and the cook were very rude. They kept giving us attitude and told us that if we don't like it, go elsewhere. The food was It tasted like if it was frozen and just defrosted my little baby even eat her tacos because they were still icy from them being defrosted that's also we asked to heat it for about 15 seconds only and she walked away saying yeah put it in for a minute and brought it piping hot to where we couldn't even eat it anymore. Just very bad service overall I've never had this service like this done to me at a Mexican restaurant before ever in my 30 years of life. This place is not "authentic" Mexican food. Why do I say that? Because no "authentic" place offers instant guacamole (the stuff you can make from a packet) and chips you purchase at the store. That was just the beginning! No homemade chips or guacamole. Next, the building is freezing. Bring a sweater! From all the Mexican places I have eaten at, this is comparable to Paradiso. The PROS, because I am not all about the cons! Pro: the cheese enchilada with chile verde and rice and beans was delicious. The food came out very hot, which means its safe! The service was pretty good, all the waitresses seem to help each other out and look at all the tables. The salsa was good. We stopped coming to this place a year ago! We returned yesterday to give this place a second chance... no change! Overpriced!!! The entrees are pre made and just kept under heating lamps or microwaved... food are served in aluminum foil! The refried beans were grossly over salted. I ordered the taquitos. Very oily and need better tortillas for this dish. The chicken meat inside had bell peppers and onions not a good pairing for taquitos makes them oily and soggy. Driving around late on a Friday night. .. well after 8 pm which in these parts is late, I drove by this place. Circling into Hugo to see if there was hot food left, I was disappointed so I cane back here to make sure I did get dinner. Surprisingly this place looks very similar to a Mexican restaurant you would find in a border town / city like San Antonio. It was pretty festive to say the least and the salsa comes in a tiny carafe. While here a table near me had a birthday and the crew came out cerinating her with a Sombrero and Spanish birthday song. The salsa was ok... nothing to write home about. I ordered the Lent special which consisted of 3 grilled tacos with Pico de Gallo, salsa, refried beans and rice at $10.95. I had low expectations but pleasantly surprised by the grilled fish. With the Pico and salsa, it had an awesome kick that enlightened my taste buds. The service was pretty good for the most part until after I got my food.... I finished my food and wrote this review until the above paragraph before the waiter showed up. On the bright side, I didn't need anything except maybe extra napkins... and when all else fails... use your pants :-) Overall, I would come back especially since there is such a lack of diverse foods in this area of America read more

The best thing about this place was the ambiance and the quality of service, but in terms of the enchiladas I ordered...no bueno. The meat tasted like someone took a hamburger, crumbled it up, and stuffed it in. Not to mention, the chips that were served with the salsa were no doubt taken from the shelf of the grocery store next door, and they didn't take the name brand, if you know what I'm saying.
