For a random quick bar stop it was great! I stopped in after a long work shift to sit at the bar, service was super fast, polite and friendly! The host and staff were all very attentive. Unfortunately I did not get a good picture of my ground beef tacos and I just missed their happy hour by 8 minutes at 7pm but no issue the prices are very reasonable. I came here for an early dinner before the Marine Corps Marathon. I got here at about a quarter to 6, so the place was pretty empty. There were 2 other parties at the bar. I believe they were both doing a little pre-Halloween party drinking as they were dressed up in costumes. After looking over their menu, I ordered their Steak Veracruz. While I waited for my food, the bartender gave me water as well as some chips and salsa. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much, but it turned out to be a pretty good steak with shrimp and scallops. I had Nachos. What was not good were the drinks. We each ordered Top Shelf Margaritas. The Margaritas were weak tasting, did not seem to be made of freshly squeezed lime as described in the menu, and very little alcohol. We let the staff know and were provided a shot of Tequila to add, but that didn't help much. The server was very insistent that they were made as described, so rather than argue we just drank them. I advise, you may not want to come here looking for a decent Margarita. We paid just over $33. for two Top Shelf Margaritas, but nothing about them said Top Shelf. read more

We hit a small language hiccup but lucky for me the app I've been using during quarantine to learn Spanish saved us! In my best beginner Spanish I was able to order a shrimp taco salad and even a frozen mango margarita!! My overall experience was 100. The food was a 92. The freshness was very delightful. Every element of the taco salad was very well made with the exception of the refried beans that were a tad salty for my taste. Lol, so I'm not sure how this place has 4 stars because it is not a pleasant experience. I will never come back here -- even if someone suggests it. A couple of things: - happy hour is only offered at their small bar although it's plastered all over the window. Even then, our waitress told us the lime margarita was the only thing available. Oh, by the way she told me after I sat down and ordered something. - I ordered the casa favorite salad..came with no special dressing. They only had ranch and Caesar...which neither comes with it. You have to ask. I guess they thought the black bean juice and avocado would be enough. - I wanted tajin on the rims of marg flight...extra charge!!! WTF? - my friend ordered a chicken quesadilla to go...she left it bc it was so nasty...not even worth trying to fix. It was literally chopped chicken breast with cheese. No flavor at all. - FINALLY, they try to charge a 18% service charge no matter the party size which is not posted anywhere! I asked our waitress about it and she kinda brushed us off and said "I can get the manager, that's the computer." The manager understood my frustration and removed it...which lets me know that they know they're wrong. Plus, my service and experience was barely worth 15%. I probably would have tipped my waitress better, but after I asked about the service charge, she just disappeared, never to be seen again...I didn't want to tip anything after that, but I'm a nice person. Okay... so I've ordered from here twice... first time for my husband... sorry, but my husband ate the food before I had a chance to snap a pic and post a review. Today I decided to order for "us" I placed an order through Doordash for a ceviche mixto (obsessed w/ ceviche) Casa Tequila's was pretty good, I must admit. I wish it had a little more heat but "delicious"! I ordered a combo fajita mix (chicken, steak and shrimp) for my husband.... he ate the entire platter, which in husband terms means it was bomb AF.... lol! He usually eats a little and save the rest for the next day.... I ordered the seafood fajita for myself. Which came with shrimp and scallops.... although it was pretty good. My shrimp were over cooked (for me).... The only disappointment part of our order was the Sangria. There an "odd" ingredient... like vanilla or something. That is different from other other white sangrias I had... ultimately, this place is in rotation. But moving forward, I will stop being lazy and order directly from the restaurant and pick it up. This used to be our go to spot but sadly, not anymore. I didn't even get a chance to sit down and take off my jacket before being asked what appetizer I wanted to order. The quality of the food has gone very downhill. The salsa is essentially tomato sauce, the chicken was very dry, and overall not great. Our server Julio L was terrible. NOTE TO MANAGER: Animals are laden with all kinds of nasty bacteria, parasites, worms, bugs, and germs. Fine for petting but they don't belong in a public restaurant. You know this. It's why health codes were passed prohibiting this, unless it's a service dog, which this wasn't. It's so you don't make other customers sick and your employees don't track those germs back to a kitchen where food is prepared and make everyone sick. I had the Beef Burritos with chips, salsa and Caso Blanco with a bit of chorizo. Salsa was a coocked variant from canned tomatoes but was tasty and free with meal. Queso was tasty but very soupy and thin... it was warm when it arrived and Thickened slightly but remained very thin... like I said tastey.. just not my personal face on consistancy. Beef Burritos had yummy diced steak inside that had a subtle but tastey flavor and texture. When o think of a Burrito I reflect to southwest style of a large flour tortilla stuffed and rolled... this offering wasn't that... however two smaller flour tortilla rolled open ended and topped with green salsa, cheese and served with a bit of lettuce, salsa fresca and a touch of guac with rice on the far side... All said, it was a pleasing meal but not what I am accustomed to as mexican fare... doesnt mean it wasn't good nor does it mean it wasn't mexican... I only say this as encouragement for folks to get over themselves, realize they are not home, they are not in Kali, they are not in Texas.... you are in the DC Capitol Region and new, alternative and stylized offerings sing here. My wife and I walked in hoping for something similar to Don Julio's. We got something more akin to Don Knotts. Put simply, and separate from the seemingly nice staff, this is quite possibly the worst "Mexican" restaurant I've visited. We saw the sandwich board advertising "happy hour" drinks and food and were pleasantly excited. We strolled in and were seated immediately in a booth. We asked for a high table and were pleasantly accommodated. We ordered a tequila and beer, were provided some chips and salsa, and dug in. First, the salsa: I seem to recall a childhood concoction of playing with ketchup and sugar packets. I believe they used that along with some onion and vinegar. The chips? Meh. Lukewarm, and lacking in any authenticity. At least the tequila was good and beer was cold. When our waitress returned, we asked for the happy hour menu. She looked at us incredulously, and said the happy hour was only available in the bar. She made no attempt to reseat us, even after we told her we were only there for the happy hour. That was pretty egregious but the salsa was more offensive. When I asked if they had a hotter salsa, she said, "this is our salsa." When I asked her if they had any hot sauce, she brought Cholula. And that's fine, if you are a breakfast-serving American fare place. But that was it! That's all they had. No "I can ask the chef if he can make something for you." It might as well have been Tabasco. In the end, I wish we had gone to IKEA: at least then, we would have paid a reasonable price for a halfway decent meal and had furniture to take home. read more

This is a totally solid experience - decent food in a nice environment. Despite the various addresses listed, this place is at the corner of Prince St and Reinekers Ln, NOT on Duke St. It's sort of behind the Crate and Barrel Outlet. There really isn't much street parking, but the restaurant claims that you can park for free at the garage across Reinekers Ln. It's a super clean, new-feeling restaurant with friendly service and a bright bar. The bathrooms were immaculate. The service was super friendly and prompt. The house margarita was fine for $8. It's just made from a mix, but has some Tequila bite to it. There is a huge list of silver, reposado, and anejo tequilas available. They also offer coronaritas, which is always fun. You will get chips and salsa to start. The chips aren't homemade, it seems, but were nice after adding a little salt. The food itself was fine, but pretty bland. The tacos offered dry chicken, without much flavor overall. They came without cheese, sour cream, or guacamole. And so the overall taste was pretty dry and bland. They were accompanied by a fiery homemade hot sauce, but they were otherwise a step below, terms of flavor, what you might get from a fast-casual taco place. Likewise, the chicken chimichanga didn't offer much in terms of flavor, though it did at least come with sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo. The chimichanga wasn't crispy, either. This was a fine, clean place with friendly service. I get that a Mexican place in Old Town might want to play it safe and offer middle-of-the-road fare to appeal to a wide variety of people. But I think that they went a little too far here in making the food too bland. Overall, though, you could do worse for a quick bite. read more
