I came here for an early dinner before the Marine Corps Marathon. I got here at about a quarter to 6, so the place was pretty empty. There were 2 other parties at the bar. I believe they were both doing a little pre-Halloween party drinking as they were dressed up in costumes. After looking over their menu, I ordered their Steak Veracruz. While I waited for my food, the bartender gave me water as well as some chips and salsa. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much, but it turned out to be a pretty good steak with shrimp and scallops. I always love a good surf and turf.

Salmon and rice bowl and seafood and rice plate both delicious!!

I don't know why this place has only 3 stars. Food is always great, service is impeccable. Prices are spot on for quality of food.. we come here at least 3 times a month. Have always been at lunch time so can't speak to evening

Birria quesadilla and tacos

Came to watch the game. Enjoyed a flight of margaritas with different flavors. We both got birria. One quesadilla and 3 tacos. Service was nice and pretty quick and always available. They do close a bit early so we had to go somewhere else. Food was decent I would come back mainly for the drinks. They could've played some music as well.

bro how privileged it is to be the first on the scene for the new episode of kitchen nightmares. piping hot plates but lukewarm food is a bad sign of sad microwaving--i always wondered why no one was inside when i walked past here. i got my answer :( servers are lovely, birria tacos saved the night from being a total flop. there are so many better places to choose from.

Nachos with Skirt Steak

We stopped in on a Saturday evening, just two of us. We were seated immediately and the restaurant wasn't too crowded or busy. The servers were attentive. The restaurant is roomy and the booths are big. It is comfortable. Music reminds me of home (San Antonio, TX). The food was okay. My sister had the Quesadillas and Platanos. Both were good. I had Nachos. What was not good were the drinks. We each ordered Top Shelf Margaritas. The Margaritas were weak tasting, did not seem to be made of freshly squeezed lime as described in the menu, and very little alcohol. We let the staff know and were provided a shot of Tequila to add, but that didn't help much. The server was very insistent that they were made as described, so rather than argue we just drank them. I advise, you may not want to come here looking for a decent Margarita. We paid just over $33. for two Top Shelf Margaritas, but nothing about them said Top Shelf.

Chimichanga Lunch

Wanted something different for lunch instead of the typical Subway or even WholeFoods. So glad I stopped in Casa Tequila! Ordered the lunch portion chimichanga and it was delicious. For $12 you get the chimichanga and it comes with guacamole sour cream and rice and beans. I mean come on you definitely can't beat that. The gentleman who took my order was very friendly and the food came out fast. I will definitely be back as they seem to have weekly happy hour specials.

*Quarantine Order Pickup* I was craving a taco salad and am glad I decided to try Casa Tequila Bar & Grill. The gentleman taking my order was super nice and friendly. We hit a small language hiccup but lucky for me the app I've been using during quarantine to learn Spanish saved us! In my best beginner Spanish I was able to order a shrimp taco salad and even a frozen mango margarita!! My overall experience was 100. The food was a 92. The freshness was very delightful. Every element of the taco salad was very well made with the exception of the refried beans that were a tad salty for my taste. In spite of that, I would definitely recommend Casa Tequila Bar and I will be placing another order soon. Bon appetit!

Seafood Enchiladas

Meh... I ordered seafood enchiladas, but they were okay. Nothing special. The rice was bland and the "special sauce" had a weird flavor. I ended up using a lot of sour cream. My server was really nice though, so that's a plus. Ambience was cute from the outside, but basic vibes inside.

Chimichanga Deluxe

We were craving some Mexican food this weekend and decided to order from Casa Tequila. My husband had the enchiladas suizas and I had the seafood chimichangas deluxe. To be honest, I was not "wowed" but it wasn't horrible. More like middle of the line. The chimichangas were good but lacking in terms of size and stuffing, however the seafood was very fresh! My husband liked his enchiladas suizas but again wasn't raving over them! I did see some other items on the menu I'd like to try so I'm not giving up on this restaurant just yet!!

Choice of to shelf tequila. American hamburger cooked to order. Like a Hooters. Hole-in-a-wall but clean Mexican joint.

Shrimp tacos

Came here for lunch with coworkers. They gave us chips and salsa and we ordered the queso dip. Order it. Thank me later. I got the shrimp tacos. DELICIOUS. The tacos came with 2 sauces. One was kind of creamy. I loved that one. I have no clue what the other sauce was but it was too dang spicy for me. Tacos also came with beans and rice on the side. I'm not sure what others ordered but everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. Parking garage directly across the street. $15 for less than 2 hours.

This is Alexandria restaurant & bar serves authentic Mexican food and drinks. It has the look of an old diner with large windows wrapping around the bar but modern decor as a few large screen televisions. It's in a nice part of town a little off the popular strip but within walking distance. The food is great. I was happy to find a place where I can get chili rellenos. Enjoy the queso with a cold beer and catch a Nats game on TV while you wait. Oh and if you want to brush up on your Spanish speaking you can do that too, the staff are friendly.

When I went in they said they were closed. It was 9, the sign said 10 and the open sign was still on.
Shaun S.

Unreliable. Open sign was on when I walked by. After they turned me away they turned it off.

Unfortunately the food is not good. My friends and I will not be returning. To highlight the queso was basically milk and was returned.

We arrived at 4:03 p.m. and left by 4:46 p.m. Our plan was to relax at the bar, enjoy happy hour margaritas, have appetizers, then dinner while watching the soccer match--a leisurely vacation evening. The hospitality, unfortunately, was lacking. Although our bartender wasn't rude, she seemed to be in a constant rush to get us to order, despite the restaurant being relatively quiet with only a few tables occupied. We even mentioned that we were hoping to enjoy a slow, relaxing evening, but we still felt hurried throughout our visit. The happy hour margaritas were very lime-forward with very little tequila. We switched to a regular menu margarita ("The Perfect"), but even that tasted weaker than expected. As tequila fans, we were disappointed. We also found the food to be far from authentic Tex-Mex. Having lived in San Antonio, I realize that's a high standard, but this didn't come close to what we expected. In the end, we asked for our food to go and left. We found another restaurant where we could relax and enjoy the kind of hospitality we had been looking for. I don't enjoy leaving critical reviews, but this was a disappointing experience, and unfortunately, I can't recommend it.

You can taste the quality in every bite. The tortillas weren't dry, the meat wasn't bland, and the toppings balanced everything perfectly. They run a Taco Tuesday special, so that's already a win. Good food and a deal The tequila selection is impressive. Whether you like it smooth and light or bold with a kick, they've got options. The margaritas? Strong enough to respect, smooth enough to enjoy. No watered-down nonsense. The staff was genuinely nice welcoming, attentive, and on top of everything without hovering. The environment is clean tables, floors, restrooms all well kept. And they have outdoor seating, which is perfect when you want to enjoy your food and vibe out a little. The accompanying salsa was tasty. We also liked the queso dip that we ordered as a side. JP ordered the attractively presented breakfast burrito and found it to be very good. The rest of us ordered the ground beef enchiladas. They come with Mexican rice and refried black beans. I thought the enchiladas were good but really needed substantially more cheese and red sauce because they were kinda dry. But there was a question about the preparation of the margaritas. JP requested his first margarita be agave free (i.e. not sweet). It turned out great. But when JP and our friend ordered another round, the second round was yellowish orange instead of green, and they were sweet. Our server insisted the margaritas were made the same way the second time. She did agree to have them re-made, but the remade ones were identical to the ones that we sent back. Since I don't drink margaritas and don't have a vested interest in that aspect of Tacos and Tequila, I'd like to come back to further explore their menu.

We were greeted and seated immediately when we arrived. There were maybe 3 or 4 tables total occupied during our visit so not too busy on a Sunday afternoon. There is outdoor seating as well. Our server, who was very friendly, hyped the premium margarita so we gave in and said yes. We also tried the passionfruit margarita. The premium was strong but that's probably what you're going for anyway The passionfruit margarita was delicious but not strong at all. We tried the chips and dip and the Platanos Fritos (plantains with sour cream) to start. Chips were fresh and hot. Salsa was a bit creamy. Never had it like this before but the taste was pretty good. Plantains were perfect! While we didn't order the Guac ( Guacamole Molcajete) , it was brought to our table. We found it to be on the bland side with no hints of cilantro, onion, lime or salt. We saw a few bits of tomato but it tasted just like a plain smashed avocado. Not something we would order again. We decided to try all the street tacos except the vegetarian so we could taste everything. Steak, chicken, fish, shrimp, ground beef, pork (al pastor), carnitas. We also got the 3 street taco platter that came with the Mexican rice and beans. We found the shrimp and fish tacos to be lacking in the quantity of meat. But they were flavorful. The chicken, while plentiful, was dry even with the sauce. The steak, al pastor and carnitas were all packed with meat and delicious but both our Al Pastor tacos were missing the pineapple. The ground beef was my personal favorite but was very greasy. The Mexican rice and pinto beans....Both were just ok. Overall, food was ok we were expecting a bit more flavor. Service was great. Pricing was a bit higher than what we usually pay for a similar order.
