We've been here twice now. Having moved to the north shore, there's not a lot of Mexican restaurants to choose from that serve both food and have a liquor license. The few we've been to in our immediate area were meh... However, at Casa Vallarta food is decent, service is better. Staff is very friendly from start to end. Drinks were good too. Our first time here! My husband and 3 kids were especially pleased with the food. We went on a Saturday and were seated right away. Our waiter Jesus was extremely prompt and attentive, we always had a beer with no need to flag down our waiter. The ambiance was fantastic and great either for the bar area or in a booth with the family. I ordered the Camarones encremados, delicious! and portion was more than enough. I am really starting to love this place. I love the staff, super friendly and attentitive. I have been there twice and both times my food was great. It is a good sized room and the crowds have been large but never have i waited. After they seat you, you get your standard chips and salsa, but then they bring this bean dip.. sooooooo good. I asked for seconds. The menu is large, service is quick, but not rushed and i loved my food. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that my wife said her food was kind of plain, she liked it but wanted more flavor. She had ordered the sample plate. My food was delicious and my boys loved theirs as well. I really love the energy in this place, all the staff are smiling, its just buzzing.. that is a good sign to me.. also when i left the owner or manager was at the door, personally thanked me for coming and shook my hand. Great addition to the North Shore. Fantastic genuine Mexican food, friendly servers, great service and a generous Margarita. Salsa and fresh chips when you're seated, and then refried beans when the waitress first comes by. Food comes out fast in large quantities and is absolutely delicious. Horrible service, sub par drinks, and basic food: this was my experience. I hate when my margarita is poured out of a mix from a plastic jug. Sat in the bar area. Waited 30 minutes to get the waiter to take our order and I had to walk to up find someone to order. Finally, once the food came out, it was just ok; some of the chicken tasted a bit rubbery. I've been searching for a place around Boston to scratch my itch for good Mexican food for years without much luck. Most of the Mexican restaurants I've been to have been very disappointing, but Casa Vallarta almost tricked me into thinking I was back on the Golden Coast. The decor is fun, the service we received was exceptional, and the food was tasty. It's not fine dining, and has more of a family owned feel, but that's what I was expecting. I'll definitely be returning when I'm feeling homesick for a good shredded beef chimichanga. read more

My boyfriend and I just recently tried casa Vallarta and have already been 4 times since! The chips, beans, and salsa to start is a win! The menu is great and has pictures of almost every item, including the drinks which is so helpful but makes me want to order it all! All our food has been fresh and delicious. We sat at the bar. Well lit for dining (maybe not for just drinks but it was early). Our waiter Diego was terrific! Took our drinks, Vallarta Margaritas (Great) and then no pressure while we chit chatted over Salsa, Chips and Bean dip. Very extensive menu. Plenty to choose from. When we were done eating, again no rush to get us out or bill paid. We got a Tequila taste from bartender and when leaving offered a $10 Gift Certificate to come back again!! We were served nacho chips and salsa to start with and then a warm puréed bean dip was served. So good. I chose the combination plate which included a taco, enchilada and chimichanga. Been here a few times now and my only complaint with this place is the plates of food come out a little too fast. We ordered skirt steak and chicken soft taco's and you could tell the meats we're precooked ahead of time. The meat was cold a little chewy and somewhat bland. Everything else was good. I really, really wanted to like this place BUT...The chips were too thick. The salsa was tasteless. The margarita was so so. The chimi I ordered wasn't crisp. If I wanted a burrito I would have ordered one. The rice - tasteless. The personnel was spectacular!. If I were just rating the staff I'd be giving Casa Vallarta five stars but I can only go for two. Ya, NO! Food, definitely not good! Taco bell is better tasting! We had lunch here today. My boyfriend ordered a chicken with shrimp dish, and he got tilapia with shrimp. The waiter said for him to taste I to see if he liked it. WHAT??!! I asked for taco's with ground beef and the server told me that I did not want those and suggested the chicken tacos. Would have been nice to try the chicken taco's but somehow instead I got pork. Are you kidding me?? Serious language barrier! Will not return, Not to mention, lunch for 2 people was $45.00 before the tip with no drinks! I;m sure this place will be closed real soon! read more
