The food at Tribu Mexican Restaurant was good, and the drinks were great. Our group of eight ordered eight appetizers and more than 20 drinks before ordering our main courses, and everything we had was very good. Well they messed up the temperature of the meet on all the steaks. Unfortunately, the service experience was disappointing. Our server was not very friendly, and we felt rushed to order our entrees. The manager came to our table and told us that another reservation was waiting and implied that we needed to place our main course order immediately. The restaurant itself was beautiful inside, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that made the whole experience even better. The décor was stylish and thoughtfully done, and it created a really nice setting for our group to relax and enjoy the evening. I understand the need to manage reservations, but the way it was handled felt unwelcoming, especially considering how much food and drinks we had already ordered. Great food and drinks, but the attitude from management negatively affected our overall experience. read more

Will not be back. I asked the female bartender to split my bill to have the food on one bill and my drinks on a separate bill. I reminded her what I wanted when I gave her my card to pay. When I received my bill after she swiped my card, she put everything on one bill. I explained to her that I needed the food separate and the bills separate and instead of apologizing, she said "really?!" In a really?! rude way. After the manager came over to correct the bills, she refused to handle our tab and her coworker had to cash us out. Very unprofessional. Spent the majority of the night socializing with her coworkers and refused to deal with us after I explained my issue with the bill. The food is fine but this kind of bad service is a red flag. I really liked Tribu!! I have driven by sooo many times! I went with my family on Cinco de Mayo. The restataunt was busy but our server was efficient and friendly! The food was amazing and the drinks were awesome! The only caveat for me is the price points for the drinks which struck me as being high. Boston prices in Saugus. read more

Fantastic place! I came here by myself to try it out. Got a couple of drinks, caipirinha and "pomerita" (pomegranate margarita), both were excellent. A lot of their drinks are very overpriced so watch out for that. For food, got the huitlacoche, which was a lovely and rare find. Also had the aguachile, which was excellent. I actually found that the two tostadas were just enough for the shrimp (I really piled on the shrimp). Avocado was a good touch. The service was excellent - thank you, bartenders, and also kitchen staff. Everything was very fast. The space is dark-comfortable (you don't have to squint) and maybe a touch too loud when it comes to music, but overall pleasant. I look forward to trying the mains next time! read more

Always passed this place on Rt1 not knowing it's a wonderful restaurant/club. Two floors of fun and excitement with great food! They take celebrations to another level here with lots of dancing, music, and vibes. Everyone tasted delicious just as it looked. Only downside is that table reservations have a two hour time limit which we felt rushed with a larger party (we eventually got kicked out). To make up for the limited table time, the service was super quick and efficient. Would highly recommend and come again! read more

We visited and supported this new restaurant last year in November. We walked in for a dinner and had to wait so they told us next time to put ourselves on a waiting list. Last night we wanted to visit it again, put ourselves on the waiting list. The app said seating time to be 7:17PM-7:27PM. We were the 2nd in the waiting list. When we arrived and checked in around 7:31PM, the host however told us we had to wait for another 45minutes to get a table....what a lousy process....so we left. We might not come back again...They did not respect our time. It does not matter how good your food and drink are, you have to respect our time. This was unbelievable and sad. read more

Yesterday we went to Tribu and I had such a great experience! First of all, the service was excellent, our waitress was super friendly and attentive throughout. The cocktail selection is really impressive, and I'd honestly go back just for their espresso martini, it comes with ice cream inside and it's amazing. The food was also great: good portion sizes, everything tasted delicious, and overall, everything was just perfect during our visit. I'd definitely come back. Plus, the decor and ambiance give the place a really nice, fancy vibe. read more

This place has great food and an even better atmosphere. We started with the Mexican Truffle app and it was absolutely delicious. The pastor and camaron tacos were delicious and so were the drinks (in my pictures) The service was fast and very professional. There is no kids menu, that I could see. We called ahead and said we would be coming in for dinner. The hostess said she would add us to the call ahead list and that it would be about 30 minutes. We got there and she proceeded to seat 4 other couples ahead of us. Know how big we got there first poor customer service. read more

We were genuinely excited to try out this newly opened restaurant; the food looked great, the vibe seemed promising, and we were ready for a fun family night out. We even ignored the not-so-great reviews about the service, figuring we'd give them the benefit of the doubt. Big mistake. To start with, we're a family with two small kids. You'd expect a family-friendly restaurant to be prepared for... well, families. Shockingly, they only had 3 or 4 high chairs in the entire place. And when we asked for one, they simply told us we had to wait until one became available . no alternative solution, no flexibility, just wait. We noticed a few tables with young kids and assumed they'd be finishing up soon, only to find out their food hadn't even arrived yet. Our server, who finally came to our table 10 minutes after we were seated, confirmed the delay. Ten minutes just to get water on the table. Also worth noting: we had a reservation. Yet we were greeted by not one, not two, but four different staff members, each giving us conflicting information about our table. Ultimately, we were told to wait because our table wasn't ready and then told there were no high chairs available. To top it off, a family that arrived after us was seated right away. When I asked why, I was told they didn't need a high chair. Not sure if that was true. their child looked about the same age as ours. Either way, the whole experience left a bad taste. We left as soon as the water arrived 10 mins after we were seated. We really wanted to try the food and maybe it is good but honestly, the service was horrendous, chaotic and unaccommodating that we didn't even get the chance. In an area full of great dining options this place just doesn't make the cut. Family-friendly? Not even close. Save your night and your sanity. dine elsewhere. read more

We came here to celebrate a birthday. The experience left a lot to be desired. The food was just okay--overpriced, nothing particularly memorable, but nothing terrible either. Portions were fair and flavors decent, though nothing stood out as something I'd come back. Service left a lot to be desired. The wait to place a drink order was long and then the wait for drinks even longer. Wished we would have ordered our entree when we ordered drinks because there was a long wait to order food too. A different server ended up taking our food order and was more attentive. But entrees came out missing sides and one order needed to be fixed. What really soured the visit was the 20% gratuity automatically added to our bill, and no one informed us. It only became clear when we looked closely at the receipt after already preparing to tip. On top of that, there was an additional charge for using a credit card, which again was not mentioned anywhere--no signage, no heads-up from the server, nothing. I understand restaurants have their policies, but transparency is key. Between the mediocre food, lackluster service, and surprise charges, I left feeling disappointed. Great vibe and decor, nice bar / ambiance - we were looking forward to trying it since they finally got their liquor license but sadly will call this one and done, will not going back any time soon, if ever... We sat at the bar for lunch and the bartender very nicely let us order off the dinner menu versus brunch, so that was good. Other than that though, she HOVERED as if we should have been in a rush to order even though we were the only people at the bar, to the point of being uncomfortable. Not overly knowledgeable or helpful, just THERE... Not even terribly friendly or conversational although we did learn that she commutes an hour .... The margaritas were weak with carefully measured pours and too much precision for an experienced bartender, she may have even read a recipe.(?). I ordered a second one and asked for a double, kind of expecting a larger drink but instead got an extra carefully measured shot of tequila in the same small glass - that would have been somewhat okay but she charged me for two full drinks = a $36 just-better-than-mediocre margarita.(!!!!!!) The enchiladas were okay but nothing to write home about, unfortunately I forget what my husband had also just okay. And they charge for chips.... The Food was ok it taste like a school lunch and they said the food was special nothing special about the food. The service was bad it took more than an hour for a table and 2 hours for the food and they literally forgot about us. The Ambience was cool I guess. I am always looking for a good Mexican restaurants so when I saw this place I had to try it. I was alone and sat at the bar, clean, friendly staff, they had just opened so there was some opening activity but was greeted as I went in. It is a very nice setting and bar. Bar tender was nice and the drinks were good. But I come for the food. I ordered Barbacoa Tlaxcalteca because it looked so good on the website when I was checking out the place. So it was mostly just a hunk of fat with very little bit of short rib meat mixed in, I had to dig into to find. How they could serve that to a customer I have no idea, I can buy better short ribs at market basket. I would say that it was like 6 oz of fat and if I was lucky it was 1 oz of meat. The meat was good but for me I would expect more meat for a $27 dish, I should have sent it back but I just picked the meat out and left, probably never to return. But if I do I will look at the more Mexican staples and see how they do. read more
