I went into there for Mothers Day in a good mood to order a pitcher of Piña Colada Daiquiri so I asked Javier to make it for me then he ask Myrna to make it and instead of her, giving me the whole pitcher she pours a jumbo and takes it to another customer because she's too lazy to make one before she gives me my pitcher needless to say comes back and uses some of the pitcher that was made for me then blends it up with more ice to make the up the difference that was poured out. It wasn't even the same consistency after she did that needless to say, I didn't want it after that and it takes a lot to get me mad but I don't want her to make anything for me ever again. This is hands down my households favorite Mexican food in the area. Prices are very reasonable and the food is great. I love their chips and salsa. My favorite entree is the steak fajita chimichanga. I had the combo #1 with a beef taco and cheese enchilada. I was less than thrilled to find a pre made, out of the package shell I could've picked this taco up from Taco Bell honestly, it wasn't great. Again, I come from California so I feel like we come from the land of great Mexican food. Also, my margarita was fine, tasted like a spiked Gatorade. The enchilada was ok and the rice and beans were fine. My husband and kids got the fajitas and said they were really good. My kids ended the night with a fried ice cream which they loved! Chips and salsa were good but my Chile Rellenos...not so much! It looked great when it arrived to the table (photo of yellow plate) but the food was cold with refrigerator temperature cheese filling and peppers so tough that cutting them with a knife was difficult. They replaced the plate (photo of pink plate) with HOT rellenos and melted cheese but the peppers were still so tough, they required a knife to cut. The rice had a hint of shrimp flavor - bizarre! Enchilada sauce is the same shit Taco Bell uses in their bean burritos. Taco is made with a pre made store bought shells. They call themselves authentic but couldn't even make real taco shells? I really wanted to like this place. The horchata was amazing, it was really sweet so if you aren't into sugary drinks then don't get it. It was as almost as sweet as melted ice cream. The chips and salsa to go cost 5.99, the salsa was watery but had a decent flavor. We got the veggie fajitas, lunch chicken fajitas, and the ranch's special (chicken with rice and cheese). The fajitas had no flavor, didn't even taste like salt and pepper were on them. I had to add salt, pepper and lime juice at home. The rice was good, the beans were beans. The rancho special was not good, it didn't taste how you would expect it to. The tortillas tasted off as well. I would not go back for the food, only the horchatas. Long before moving out of California I was told over and over again that I would never find authentic Mexican restaurants outside of California let alone in Tennessee. That has been proven to be a LIE! Rancho Cantina sincerely proves that we do have quality Mexican cuisine. Especially in Hendersonville. The quality of the traditional dishes from their chicken dishes to their weekend specials like Menudo are delicious. Did I mention their tortilla both flour and corn are made by hand? Seriously if a Mexican restaurant take their time to make their tortillas that is your first sign that they have quality food. Now yes the menu can be overwhelming but I can almost guarantee whatever you order will be delicious. If you don't have a big appetite I highly recommend sharing as their servings are generous! The drinks are a great price and they definitely will not water down your spirits! For those capeless hero's who are DD's or their aguas frescas are top notch -refreshing and great to wash down your meal. The service is friendly and I always appreciate practicing my Spanish and the staff is bilingual and awesome! The ambience is like stepping into a small cantina with authentic barrel like seats with beautiful picturesque scenes of Pueblo life. Now this isn't a fancy restaurant but the quality food and service is worth stopping by. If you want the typical middle Tennessee version of a Mexican restaurant, and you always order the same chicken fajitas or enchilada plate, then you will be fine choosing a restaurant at random. If you want to see a different menu and find a different taste then try this place. IMHO the food is always great. I go there about 3-4 times a month and have tried many different menu items, and so far I have really enjoyed *almost* all of them. Sometimes I go and just ask them to bring me something random - surprise me - and they do a great job! I did that the last time I went and I got 3 sandwiches made with tortillas, each with a different meat, and all 3 were delicious. The salsa is my favorite of any salsa I've tried anywhere. They recently remodeled, so the place is a bit nicer than it was. Parking can be tricky if they are really busy, but most of the time it is fine. I have never had a complaint about the food, and certainly never a complaint about the service. The menu is full of things you don't see on the cookie cutter menus, so if you feel adventurous then you should go. read more

My brother is a big fan of this place, so I was excited when the opportunity arose to come in for a quick dinner and margarita. We ordered a large cheese dip, salsa, and authentic jalapeño and roja sauce that I typically get at taco trucks. I always judge a place on their salsa, and theirs was good, but it wasn't my favorite. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it was lacking something. Maybe the batch was just off. However, the cheese dip and other sauces were fantastic. I ordered 3 authentic tacos, 2 pastor, 1 chorizo. Our waiter came back to double check which tacos I ordered, but he still got them wrong when I got my food. I ate them anyway and luckily they were really tasty, just 2 chorizo, 1 pastor instead. The corn tortillas were a bit thicker than I prefer, but I admit they were perfect for leftovers and didn't fall apart. I actually think they were better the next day honestly. My BF had the enchiladas and they were really good. The refried beans were fantastic, and I know what I'm getting next time around! Sadly, they also have the unfortunate Mexican dynamic of having really good food but subpar, premixed margaritas. I ordered the "top shelf" option, and it just tasted like extra tequila. However, it was drinkable and washed down the chips good enough. I can see why this place is a staple in Hendersonville. I'm very happy to be able to write an updated review for Rancho Cantina. My first visit resulted in a 2 star rating but even then I knew it was probably an off-day or outlier and given the chance I'd come back and see if things didn't go better. So...I came back for a 2nd visit some time back and went with an enchilada combo plate that was pretty good, spicy and flavorful and much better than the food I got on my first visit. The red sauce in particular was good and the salsa was better than I remembered. It was good enough to warrant a third visit---and that one sealed the deal. I ordered a lunch special of a tostoda with 2 tacos. I knew Rancho was said to serve the real deal with tacos so I asked to substitute al pastor for the typical ground beef, kept the toppings piled high and on fresh, soft corn tortillas. My salsa and chips were the best they'd been yet, the service was super friendly and efficient and the tacos al pastor were phenomenal. I asked for hot sauce (and got it) but really the al pastor was almost spicy enough by itself. The rice and beans were nice and the tostoda was really good as well. So 3 visits--one bad, one better than good and one great. The great meal was by far the best Mexican lunch meal I've had in the Hendersonville area so I'll definitely come back. read more

Tried this place for the first time. Got the Rancho Cantina fajitas. They were wonderful. All of the meats had really good flavor. Good portion size. Salsa was a little bit higher on the heat side for my taste but my husband loved it. Service was great. Friendly staff. This place opened within the past month. I went in for a late (3:30pm) lunch/early dinner. The place was pretty empty, seating was fast. Drinks were brought out fast along with the salsa & chips. The salsa is ok, heavy on the cilantro. Within 15 minutes of ordering, the main entry was served. I had the chimichanga, it was awesome. The beef was very favorable, the outer portion was flaky.
