Pancho Villa Grill is a local Mexican restaurant that sits at the corner of Long Hollow Pike and the I65 on ramp in Goodlettsville. I frequent this area for Kroger and a few other spots, so I have passed Pancho Villa hundreds of times and finally decided to swing through for a bite, lunch more specifically. The space is larger than it appears and is maximized for seating with rows of booths lining both walls upon entry leading to an open dining room, combined with a partially separate dining space and then the outdoor covered patio! The art and décor are classic style with some nods to the local culture and happenings of the past. Booths are intricately carved and the overall theme is noted throughout. Service left a bit to be desired, mainly due to the lack of. I was sat almost immediately upon entering, but was not greeted again for my order for close to 8 minutes after being sat. And the host was the one who circled back to help me in lieu of my waiter, which was not seen until my food was brought out. They were both friendly, but not exactly efficient. I started my meal with queso, because it is basically law when eating at a Mexican restaurant. Sadly the queso was super bland. I ordered the Pollo Bandido, which is essentially chicken and queso with the addition of mushrooms, and sided with rice and beans. The queso did not do much for the dish flavor wise, but the chicken and mushrooms were well cooked and seasoned. Beans were solid, but the rice was undercooked or old, as the texture was tough and almost crunchy. Given the delays with service, I opted to just eat the beans and main portion of my meal. Plenty of parking with a dedicated lot and overflow at the neighboring hotel if needed. Overall, not at the top of my list for local Mexican spots. A bit bummed on the service and food quality here. read more

Pancho Villa Grill was next to my hotel and since I got in a bit late, I really did not want to travel and look for dinner and I could walk here in about ten seconds, so it was a convenient stop for me. Walking in, i was immediately greeted and seated. They brought me some chips and salsa and a menu. Scanning my choices, I went with steak straps covered in cheese. Looking around, the ambiance was pleasant enough, but nothing different from countless other Mexican restaurants. Overall, it was a nice place to enjoy a meal. My food came out pretty quickly and I was pleases with both the portion size (especially for the price) and the quality and taste the food. Overall, I would definitely recommend here. Me and my girlfriend came in for dinner sat down ordered a marg and all of a sudden we seen two roaches on the floor. I got up told the server and said that we were going to leave because we seen roaches and she proceeded to say "they are everywhere maybe your house too" . I walked out but decided to walk back in to tell a manager and all he said was pest control came that morning and wanted to show me a check he wrote out to pest control. This is one of our favorite Mexican restaurants to go to. Their outside seating is spacious and makes us feel like we are on vacation. The staff is more like a family. Courteous, always attentive when we need more sweet tea or water to drink. My favorite dishes are the Pollo Bandido, the Vaca Bandidas, Special Jalisco, and Fajitas. read more

My family and I have eaten here before and we've been satisfied until now. We ordered dinner for 5 for pick up on the way home from a road trip and what we opened up in our Togo boxes was just disappointing. This is NOT at all what we have ever gotten when we ordered a Bean and Cheese Burrito. This was absolutely disgusting to eat and unfortunately two of us had to since we couldn't take it back to the restaurant. First impression was it should be fine, it turned out to be better then fine. Started off with the chips and salsa, they were fresh not greasy and had just enough salt to to be perfect. The red salsa served with them was mild and it was also fresh and cold. So I know it was kept in a cooler and served to me fresh. Sweet Tea was on point, Wow perfect amount of sugar not too much or not enough. It was excellent and my server always kept it full. Ordered the Beef and Chicken Quesadilla with salad and an order of rice and beans. The quesadilla was huge, I mean mega huge. I am a husky man and I only ate 1/2 of it. So damn amazing. Flavors on the beef and chicken were not overpowering and cheese, peppers and onions were cooked perfectly. Tortilla feels homemade and was so soft and tasty. Tomatoes were fresh and salad had no brown leaves or spots anywhere. Very nice presentation. Rice was a bit lite on flavor, nice texture, good amount of vegetables. Beans were probably the only thing that did not meet up to par, they seemed a bit watery and not seasoned with enough spice or even bacon grease. Overall the food gets a 8.5 out of 10. I dined on the patio and this is where the attention needs to be addressed. The patio is a beautiful area, but has bird crap all over chairs, floors and ledge. This doesn't make for a very inviting time to enjoy your meal. Chairs not set up under tables and dirty plates left on tables let for birds to come and eat off tables and plates. They need to power wash this deck in order to get people out here and enjoy the patio. There was also no music on the patio, so all you were listening to was the engines of the cars on the freeway. Rating on patio 1 out of 10, very poor. I will try this place again and hopefully next time it will have a cleaner patio. read more

Stopped by for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised! I ordered the Chimichangas Special...3 chimis with rice, beans, chips & salsa for like $14. Good deal. Couldn't finish it all, so I have some for dinner! The chicken and shrimp were very well seasoned and there are onions and peppers in the chimis as well. Didn't get the beef one. The rice was a little meh, but the chimis are what I wanted and they definitely delivered!! I will try this spot again, for sure. read more

Pretty standard cheap Mexican food. I enjoy their chips and queso. Service is pretty good. I've never had to wait even on Cinco De Mayo. The restaurant is decorated like most other cheap Mexican restaurants. They do have a small amount of outdoor seating right in front of the parking lot, so I would suggest eating inside. read more

I'm a big believer in frequenting your backyard Mexican restaurant as much as possible & I have been coming here several times a month since moving to the North Nashville area back last April. Several key features about Pancho villa are worth mentioning, but the most important is how fast they get your food & drinks to the table. After probably 50 or so visits to Pancho Villa for lunch or dinner over the last year I have never waited more than 10 minutes for food to be served even when they are packed. I would wager most of the time it's 5 mins or less. They really hustle in the kitchen. Another thing worth mentioning is they have the absolute sweetest tea in town. Right up there with the sugar content of a McDonalds sweet tea no doubt. I'm not complaining as I really look forward to it. It's a lady server who always gives me a hard time when I come in. If I don't order fast enough she always takes 15-30 mins before she returns. Today I came in and order my drink after she sat me in a corner. Once she brought back the drink and chips (no sauce) she asked for my order I said I needed a minute. She walks off with a strange attitude.. takes a whole 20 mins and instead of coming to my table she yells "you ready buddy" across the floor. Someone's mad because the owner did not let their service dog in the restaurant or someone else is mad because they had too much cheese one time and not enough another time so rather than ask for more cheese they drop a one star review. The food was delicious. However the margaritas are way over priced they were 16.95 each. I would never order another margarita at that price it just not worth it. You can make them for three dollars at home. We ordered two margaritas it was 33,90. Service was lightening fast. My food arrived before I returned from the restroom. I appreciated that there was a Vegetarian section on the menu. My table was wobbling, and I was moved to the other side of the table when I noted a pool of water under the seat/table. The server was very polite and attentive. Well here I am writing a review on a Mexican food joint. When it comes to this area of food I am very particular about it. Most of the time I won't comment at all because I don't like to bash things or people who are trying. I just sat down and had a wonderful plate of food. this doesn't happen to me very often when it comes to Mexican food. I'm in Tennessee for crying out loud, who woulda thought. Now don't get me wrong it's gringoized a word I like to use in this area. But we have everything to make it right here and the food is fantastic. People are very nice and service was super. My boyfriend and I came here on a Sunday night. When we walked in the host seated us right away. He pointed to a booth and asked if that was okay? I said that's fine and he tossed the menus on the table and walked away. A girl brought us some salsa and chips, did not say anything to us just walked away once she sat the stuff down. Our waiter came over and he was the only reason I even gave this place 3 stars. He was attentive and polite. I ordered the carne asada, which was a bit salty, along with the beans. I still liked them though. The rice was just okay, and there was some guacamole, lettuce, tomatoes and jalapeños tossed on top of everything. I will never come back to this restaurant. The first and last time to visit. The hostess seated us next to an emergency exit. there were 10-12 other tables empty. We are older and we were happy to be back in the corner away from everyone due to Covid. Little did we know the "emergency exit" was the only way out to the patio. The place has been in Goodlettsville for years now. They have a really nice outdoor patio that is great in the summertime. They have pitchers of beer and also margaritas by the pitcher! Yikes. This was by far the worst Mexican food that I have ever had. We live in Colorado. I have lived in Southern California. I have traveled all over the country. Principal investor in 4 restaurants. I eat out at Mexican restaurants at least twice a week. This was awful. chili rellenos tasted like deep fried water. Not sure how that's possible, but impressive in a bad way. All of the cheese used tasted like chalky stale velveta cheese. Kids quesadilla was inedible. Kids chicken nuggets were inedible. Tasted like they were fried in 2 month old oil and looked like it as well. The only decent things were the chips and beans. Even the rice was awful. Service was good, but that doesn't mean much when literally your whole family can't eat their meals. We ended up not eating anything, paying the bill, leaving, and going somewhere else to eat. Hmmm...on an average day, I'd give Pancho Villa 3.5 stars maybe. Good, but a lot like others, affordable Mexican food. And for the length of time they've been there.. it doesn't seem they get to know the 'regulars '. That's off topic but I digress. But you see, I've been ordering all wrong. Typical burrito here, nachos there....lets face it, I get stuff that makes it easy for me to turn it into nachos. But then I discovered their "Mariachi". Oh my healthy wonder of heaven. It's Mexican and healthy, aye carumba. Fish and shrimp (nice fat shrimp normally) with all the veggies but not all the grease of typical fajitas. Pretty darn yummy!. And then I met Molcajete. I've been on a recent molcajete kick and trying it lots of places. This Molcajete here is just simply unhealthy as hell. Full of cheese and "special sauce". Steak, Mexican cactus, all the veggies....maybe those veggies have cooked down into that special sauce. However it got that way, that sauce is quite special.
