This was a much needed stop after a long day of fasting for medical tests. The atmosphere is very nice at Casa Vieja. We were greeted as soon we entered. It looks like they're doing a renovation as well. The service from our server was odd, however. It felt like he was trying to leave work so everything was in fast forward mode. As soon as he greeted us, he took our drink orders, which is customary, but he also wanted our food order. We'd never been there before so we needed some time. He left & then quickly returned to get our order again. My Mom is in her 70's & likes to take her time (within reason since we were famished). We just gave him our order without finishing looking at the menu. Whatever, we complied. The server never asked for our choice in protein for the lunch items we ordered. I guess he was just going to choose for us until I stopped him as he walked away & informed him of what we wanted. I'm a vegetarian due to medical reasons & it would have been nice to have my opinion about what I'm about to eat considered without my having to push this person to do their job. The food that came was far from expected in conjunction with the esthetic of the restaurant. It looked like a red mass on a plate. Everything was gooey, saucy & I couldn't tell what I was eating. Same for my mom. I had substituted rice for beans. That didn't happen. I couldn't tell which item on the plate was my poblano or my enchilada. Everything was flat & red, even the unwanted beans were covered in red sauce. I requested the rice I had ordered & it eventually came. Are peas & square carrots customary in Mexican rice? All in all, much like the food it was a blah experience. The food was basic & uneventful. Everything tasted the same. The service was also blah & uneventful. I hope the guy got to where he needed to be. We won't be there again. read more

I made a mistake and chose this over another restaurant. The location is clean and there's plenty of room, although it looks like it will get full on a weekend. The service was ok. The margaritas were mediocre, and the enchiladas and carnitas were not tasty at all. I couldn't finish my meal and surely did not want to bring it home. I'll skip this one. read more

Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon for a quick bite to eat and some drinks. The ambiance was nice, lovely wooden furniture that was quite computable. We were seated promptly and immediately got the complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was on the thin side, but good. On the milder side. We did have to ask for our ice waters, but everything else was delivered promptly. The quesadillas were very cheesy, maybe a bit one note, and could have benefited from some seasoning, but dipping it in the salsa definitely made them tasty. The queso was your standard queso, The cheesy rice was wonderful. Definitely delivered in the cheese! The rice was well cooked and seasoned. We spend about $45 for two drinks and three appetizers including taxes, but before tips. The regular entrees all looked to be reasonably priced and offering a large variety. If you like Fajitas but haven't tried the Alambres here, you will love them! I ordered them with both carne asada steak and chicken. Combined with bacon and white cheese sauce, they are amazing. Lunch portion is easily enough to feed 2 (but tip like you bought a second entree. The team here is friendly and welcoming with First Class service.) Me & my family decided to go out for Cinco De Mayo & i chose this place because i had been here with food club & enjoyed it. First let me start by saying this was the worst dining experience i've ever had. To start our party consisted of 6 adults, a 2 year old & a 1 year old. It is also important to note that i am the only person that has been here before. We were seated and ordered our food. They came out with most of our food with the exception of 2 people. I noticed my order was wrong(number 8 with chicken) i received beef instead. I politely notified the waiter & this visibly irritatd him because he rolled his eyes, huffed & rudely walked away. The people who already got their food are eating. Suddenly the waiter comes back and says to one of our party "thats her food" The waiter proceeds to tell him that he's eating the wrong order so he replied " this is the order they gave me so i thought it was mine but i'll just keep this order & my original order since i've already eaten half of it" (Its important to note that they both ordered similar items one with & one without tomatoes so it was an honest mistake) So about 10 minutes pass & she still has not gotten her food so we asked him about it & he said "well he ate her food" i proceed to explain that he is just going to keep it and pay for it & his correct order but she still needs her order. The waiter rudely walked away & returned with a thin bald gentleman who they said was the manager(not pictured in slide) I explained the situation to which he replied "well why did he eat her food? I'm sure the waiter called out the order before he gave it to you" At this point i'm shocked because what kind of manager blames the customer & refuses to bring her order? Another guy comes pretends to help & walks off & they all (about 4 other employees are gathered near our table at this point) started making racists remarks, & mocking us in Spanish not knowing that a person in out party is fluent in Spanish. At this point we are all upset & ask for our checks so we can just go! Why they refused her order puzzles me?? We were the only people of our racial ethnicity there & the fact that the waiters were making racial jokes in Spanish is the only reason i can think of. read more

Poor, poor, poor Our server, Josè, acted as if we were bothering him by coming in the restaurant. Consequently, he didn't sufficiently listen to what we ordered. We ordered steak fajitas rare; they were delivered beyond well. We ordered no sour cream on the lettuce; we got sour cream. We asked for three plates on which to eat; it took an inordinate amount of time to get them. We asked for more tortilla shells twice; we were done eating by the time we got them. Went there today right as they opened. We were seated, brought chips to table. We waited for a good 10 minutes while 8 waiters sat around and talked I finally had to ask for menus and water. I ordered something with tacos, I asked for pork, the waiter said he couldn't do that. Once we got our orders they first of all were both wrong. The cheese on enchiladas was canned nacho cheese, the beef, well let's just say I scraped it off. It looked like canned dog food and didn't taste much better either. Once we were done all 8 servers were just sitting around talking giving each other back rubs. Totally inappropriate, had to wait to get someone's attention to pay bill. Stopped in to Casa Vieja for a late lunch today. I was craving some fajitas. Service: Was not busy at all so waiters were sitting around, no problem. Problem is my waiter would sit with other waiters and forget he had a table. I had to try and wave him down for anything I needed. It got annoying. Food. I ordered the Chicken and Steak Fajitas. The meat comes cut in tiny tiny pieces. I couldn't find a piece is steak or chicken the size of a dime. I definitely feel like there was way more veggies than meat. Flavor? It tasted pretty good, well seasoned for sure. I just can't get passed the mini tiny honey I shrunk the food meat pieces. I don't think I'll be coming back because the kibble n bits meat pieces are a huge turnoff. Too many Mexican places in town to not enjoy a first visit. read more

RUDE waiter Luis. Arrived at the restaurant 2 hrs before closing and you'd think I walked in 5 minutes before closing. The host was very accommodating with seating and the extreme temperature. The Casa Vieja at Anderson Ln in Hendersonville used to be great. Unfortunately the last few times we have eaten there, or attempted to order carry-out, the lack of service and concern is deplorable. The last straw came the week of Feb. 6, 2023 when I called to place a carryout order. I gave my order to Enrique who read the order back to me, and who assured me I had called the correct location by saying, "we're next to Walmart." My wife stopped by the restaurant 15 minutes after I had spoken with Enrique, however she was informed by Enrique himself that no order had been called in. My called me and I informed her that I did in fact call in the order, and to Anderson Ln Casa. Enrique continued to insist that there was no orders called in, and that had probably called the wrong restaurant. My told him to never min and that she would simply go to the other Casa location and place an order. Now it so happened that my and my wife's daughter was having dinner with a friend at the same problem location where Enrique works. And my wife went over to our daughter's table say "hi" before leaving for the other restaurant. Later when our daughter arrived home she stated that Enrique was her waiter and that he had apologized to our daughter that he had had to deal with "that bitch" (meaning my wife and my daughter's mother) instead helping my daughter and her friend. As well our daughter stated that Enrique also told her that he didn't care if "the bitch" never came back, "fuck her!" Yes, Enrique was telling another customer, my daughter, that the customer's mother is a "bitch" and "fuck her!" Totally unprofessional, totally unnecessary, totally crude and vulgar, totally unacceptable, and totally my family and I will never step foot in the Anderson Ln Casa Vieja in Hendersonville, and regardless of whether Enrique is still working there or not. read more

I just had one of the best taco salads I've eaten in years. The dining room is clean, and a little chilly, but pleasant. The menu offers many choices without being overwhelming. I wish my server had been a little more attentive though. I'll definitely return. read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. The atmosphere is wonderful, they have amazing people to assist you and they're speedy. It's hard to find a Mexican cuisine that is authentic or can be made to order authentic. I love that it's not American made food. My family and I have a favorite person there and his name is Allen. He's the best. He's always polite and gives us new ideas on what to try and what to add to our dish to make it more authentic. He's amazing! UPDATE!!!!! Went to our favorite restaurant today and we weren't able to have Allen to assist us with ordering and we were fine with that. Me had a party of five and Angelica was our waitress. I came into the restaurant after my family and they had bee sitting for 45 mines without food and they still had their first order of drinks that were empty cups now. I only wanted something to drink and I was going to place my order to go as I wasn't hungry at the time. Angelica brought out my husbands order and not the rest of the orders. I went to ask for a sprite because it was almost as if Angelica was avoiding refilling my families beverages. Before I could ask her after I went back to where she was standing for the plates, she interrupted me and said "I'm checking on your food now". The gentlemen had already brought out the rest of the plates. I asked for a Sprite. She said okay. She brought it to the table. I drunk it and it was all carbonation and no flavor at all. I tried to tell her and she waved by and said that someone else will take our order. We were confused. I brought the drink back to her at the drink fountain where she was standing and told her how rude she's being toward my family. My husband spoke with the manager. I then asked Angelica not to come back to our table and she said "Good, I will not". Allen came and was very apologetic and placed my to go order. My husband tipped Allen $20.00. We did not tip her. I would give Angelica a tip and that is to treat others as she would want them to treat her. We will still return back to the restaurant, but we will choose to avoid Angelica at all costs. I gave Angelica's service a one star. But the overall service that we briefly received bc we were in his section would be a Five Star as always. Which is why he received a $20.00 tip with only processing a to go order. read more

I'm sad to write this, because we would dine here or have an 'order to go' very often for years, but the last year service went down the hill significantly. I don't take lightly writing this. Service became very shallow. Waiters are more concerted to sit at the bar and watch TV instead attending customers. Once you get their attention it's almost inconvenient for them to bring you what you need and you get 'what do you want' instead of 'May I get something for you'. Servers are trying to be funny and flirty instead focusing on bring exactly what you ordered. This is not with one server in particular, this happened numerous times with different people. As for food...the quality is not there anymore. Chips comes stale and chicken undercooked. If you order chicken fajitas you will get ends of chicken, pieces that you can't even chew. If you get 'order to go' everything is packaged together. You will end up with warm salsa and steamed lettuce. Noticed that once a very crowded restaurant isn't so busy anymore. You would think they would get the hint. People would pay extra for good food and great service! Oh well! As for us, time to find another favorite Mexican restaurant!
