    Tacos Authenticos

The food and service was not to bad. The salsa is on the spicier side. I wish the street tacos were made with red onions, my choice are white onions. They still tasted pretty good. I can't say I would go out of my way to have this again.

Me & my family decided to go out for Cinco De Mayo & i chose this place because i had been here with food club & enjoyed it. First let me start by saying this was the worst dining experience i've ever had. To start our party consisted of 6 adults, a 2 year old & a 1 year old. It is also important to note that i am the only person that has been here before. We were seated and ordered our food. They came out with most of our food with the exception of 2 people. I noticed my order was wrong(number 8 with chicken) i received beef instead. I politely notified the waiter & this visibly irritatd him because he rolled his eyes, huffed & rudely walked away. The people who already got their food are eating. Suddenly the waiter comes back and says to one of our party "thats her food" The waiter proceeds to tell him that he's eating the wrong order so he replied " this is the order they gave me so i thought it was mine but i'll just keep this order & my original order since i've already eaten half of it" (Its important to note that they both ordered similar items one with & one without tomatoes so it was an honest mistake) So about 10 minutes pass & she still has not gotten her food so we asked him about it & he said "well he ate her food" i proceed to explain that he is just going to keep it and pay for it & his correct order but she still needs her order. The waiter rudely walked away & returned with a thin bald gentleman who they said was the manager(not pictured in slide) I explained the situation to which he replied "well why did he eat her food? I'm sure the waiter called out the order before he gave it to you" At this point i'm shocked because what kind of manager blames the customer & refuses to bring her order? Another guy comes pretends to help & walks off & they all (about 4 other employees are gathered near our table at this point) started making racists remarks, & mocking us in Spanish not knowing that a person in out party is fluent in Spanish. At this point we are all upset & ask for our checks so we can just go! Why they refused her order puzzles me?? We were the only people of our racial ethnicity there & the fact that the waiters were making racial jokes in Spanish is the only reason i can think of.

Always love coming here food is really good and service is excellent. Tried the shrimp tostadas camaron for the first time and its now my new fav. My only suggestion would be for the chips and salsa to be a little more authentic.

Stopped in to Casa Vieja for a late lunch today. I was craving some fajitas. Service: Was not busy at all so waiters were sitting around, no problem. Problem is my waiter would sit with other waiters and forget he had a table. I had to try and wave him down for anything I needed. It got annoying. Food. I ordered the Chicken and Steak Fajitas. The meat comes cut in tiny tiny pieces. I couldn't find a piece is steak or chicken the size of a dime. I definitely feel like there was way more veggies than meat. Flavor? It tasted pretty good, well seasoned for sure. I just can't get passed the mini tiny honey I shrunk the food meat pieces. I don't think I'll be coming back because the kibble n bits meat pieces are a huge turnoff. Too many Mexican places in town to not enjoy a first visit.

Strawberry margaritas that we got in a pitcher, salsa, chips and cheese dip.

Had to send my food back. Of course they argued with me. They brought me another one that was equally as bad. Will never go back.

El Mezcal Mexican occupies the corner of Hendersonville Marketplace along New Shackle Island Road,…read moreand is a solid spot for Mexican whether dining in or picking up. For those who are looking for Ricardo's...this is the place, but it underwent a rebrand and relocation in the past few years. The restaurant is not large, but being located on the corner of the plaza gives lots of natural light for the long dining room, plus a cool cutout space for the bright bar and there is even a small patio outside of the front door. The space does not give off your standard Mexican restaurant vibes in full, but the essence of it is there and that is good enough! I have dined in, but most of my visits are pickup from an online order. My go-to here is always the Arroz con Queso. Unlike other spots, this comes automatically with peppers and onions, but no tortillas. I 86 the peppers and live without the tortillas. It is a good amount of chicken, rice, onions and queso. Always hits the spot! Along with this, I usually get a bowl of queso, but recently decided to get an order of bean dip...and where has this been my whole life. I kind of knew what to expect, but the ratio of refried bean to queso was absolute perfection! Price point was standard and ran me around $23 for my entree and dip plus tip. Service is always welcoming and friendly, plus they are usually quick with preparation, so never long waits whether dine in or pick up. Overall, really happy to have found El Mezcal. A solid go-to when in Hendersonville!

I swung by on an afternoon for lunch after doing some shopping nearby. The place was not too busy, so I was sat promptly and assisted shortly after. The space is welcoming, themed, bright, well kept and clean. As with any stop at a Mexican spot, queso is always a starter. Priced at $5, the queso was standard, but that does not equal bad. Exactly what I was after. For my meal, I went with the Pollo Mexicano, which is a slight twist on the Arroz con Pollo, as they add sauteed onions and jalapeno peppers. It came in around $15, which was decent given the portion and preparation. The food was nothing special, and could have used a bit more seasoning, but it was still a decent lunch for $20 plus tax and tip. Service was okay. My server popped outside for a good portion of my meal, so I did have to get up and go to the bar at one time for a refill. He apologized and we moved on, no big deal. Overall, solid 3.5 for me. Wouldn't hesitate to come back when in the area, but not going to go out of my way to swing by.

The quesadilla was delicious, well cooked and packed with the goods! Of course before the main, I started with a small queso. The queso was bland and a bit thick for my liking. The complimentary salsa was also nothing special. They both got the job done, but were just okay. I finally stopped by this spot for a quick bite, and it definitely scratched that West Coast itch. It's a drive through -- but a cool drive through -- not your typical polished chain setup. It feels local, authentic, and full of personality. Vibe: Simple, no frills, and true to its roots. It's the kind of place where you pull up, see a steady stream of cars, and just know you're in for something good. Definitely not fancy, but that's part of the charm. Service: Quick, friendly, and efficient. It's nice to actually talk to a person instead of yelling into a speaker box. You order at one window, then swing around to the other side to pick up your food. The kid who handed me my order couldn't have been more than ten -- or maybe I'm just getting old, lol -- but he was polite and had everything ready right on time. Food & Drinks: I ordered a Cheese Quesadilla, Shrimp Taco, and Fish Taco, and stuck with water to drink. The clear winner was the Cheese Quesadilla -- the cheese inside was rich and creamy, the outside perfectly crisp, and there was this subtle salty kick on the tortilla that made it addictive. Maybe it was butter, maybe a sprinkle of salt, but it worked. The tacos were your classic street-style setup -- onion, cilantro, and soft double corn tortillas. The Shrimp Taco was solid, nothing fancy but tasty. The Fish Taco, though, was a bit of a miss -- light on the fish and kind of bland overall. The salsas made up for it; both the verde and rojo had great flavor and a nice punch. Overall: A good experience and worth checking out if you're in the area. I always pay attention to who's eating somewhere, and the fact that this place draws a strong Hispanic crowd says a lot about its authenticity. As a pescatarian, it's probably not my personal go-to, but I'd absolutely recommend it to my meat-eating friends. Date of visit: 1 November 2025
