I made reservations at Casa Dami to celebrate my daughter's birthday, and overall, it turned into a really memorable experience. When booking, I had the option of dining , chef's table, or patio seating. I specifically chose the dining since my daughter loves creating content, and the indoor ambiance is absolutely beautiful for photos. The hostess seated us on the patio, and I mentioned that I had selected dining. I was told that seating is based on first availability, which was a little disappointing, especially since the restaurant is right on the water and by 7:30 PM it was getting pretty chilly. While they do have heaters outside, sitting in gusty winds with the smell of gas (especially after a fresh trip to the hairdresser!) just wasn't ideal. My daughter went back to the car to grab a blanket. Thankfully, the hostess noticed my discomfort and came back shortly after saying, "Donna, we have another table further down that's out of the wind and under a heat lamp." That small gesture made a big difference, and honestly, that's when the experience started to turn around. From there, things only got better. When our entrées arrived, our waiter Nick realized we had never received our appetizers. Without hesitation, he assured us he would make it right, and he absolutely did. He brought out a selection of cheeses for us to sample, which led to us ordering a caviar bump paired with champagne (highly recommend!). To top it all off, he surprised my daughter with olive cake and fresh berries to celebrate her birthday. Such a thoughtful touch. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. Not just because the food was amazing, but because of the attention to detail and how seriously they take the overall dining experience. Parking is available in a nearby garage, and they validate the first 90 minutes, which is a nice bonus. read more

I had this place bookmarked on Yelp since November when it was all dressed up for the holidays. The pictures of the interior looked beautiful and the food looked great. Yesterday, I came here for my birthday lunch with my mom after she made a reservation, and honestly, I wish we had just gone somewhere else. We sat down right at our 1:00 reservation and then waited 35 minutes just to get a drink menu. Not food. Not to order. Just the menu for drinks. After we finally ordered, the champagne showed up about 20 minutes later. It was served in wine glasses, which feels like basic wine bar knowledge, but apparently not here. When we asked to switch them to champagne glasses, the waiter brought out smaller wine glasses. Not exactly good etiquette for a place that leans so heavily on its bar concept. The whipped ricotta appetizer came out even later, around the 65 minute mark. As an appetizer. It was fine, probably the best thing we had, but "fine" after that kind of wait is not a positive. From there, everything just dragged. It took almost an hour for my mom's meatballs to come out, and when they did, they were raw. Not slightly underdone. Fully pink in the middle. She sent them back and was so turned off she didn't even want to eat anything else. I ordered a salad and specifically asked for light dressing. What I got was the opposite. It was drenched in a thick, heavy dressing that made the whole thing borderline inedible and the lettuce soggy. After our food, I tried to order drip coffee, which they didn't have, so I settled for an Americano. I asked for warm cream, which I've had done at plenty of places, and somehow it came out clotted. If you know anything about coffee, that shouldn't happen. At this point, we had been there for over two and a half hours. For a salad, an appetizer, and four raw meatballs. The server was very nice and doing his best with being busy. BUT, the overall operation felt completely disorganized and untrained. We weren't the only ones either. The couple next to us was also complaining after waiting 40 minutes just to order breakfast items. To make it even better, parking is only comped for 90 minutes. So because of their slow service, we ended up paying for parking on top of overpriced, underwhelming food. What should have been a 45 minute lunch turned into a 2.5 hour ordeal. The bathroom also wasn't clean either time I went, which pretty much sums up the lack of attention to detail across the board. The only slightly redeeming part was the crème brûlée, which was... fine. Not amazing. Just fine. It's a pretty space. I'll give them that. But that's about where the positives end. The food is not good, the timing is unacceptable, and the whole experience feels like Instagram style over quality and substance. Came back for a late dinner with my gf and I don't especially love it as I did for the lunch. We were walked outside to sit but our table for 2 ppl were sooo close to the table for 4ppl next to us that I asked to sit inside. Really was not in the mood to be breathed on. We ended up at the counter and I'm not sure why we were not offered other tables that I see inside and outside. Our reservation was for 8:30pm and for the rest of the night, I did not see that many ppl come thru. Nonetheless, my gf and I haven't seen each other so we focused on the time we had with each other. Espresso martinis were actually really good. Love the pitch of sea-salt on it. Brought it to another level. At the end, we did a type or margarita that the bartender suggested and that was a nice drink as well. I recalled from the last time, they did have good wines but I did not have any this time. The truffle bikini is a must. Amazing flavors! Skirt steak with good as well. Great temperature on it. I didn't enjoy it on the mash potatoes. Salad, chicken were also good. No complaints there. Music got extremely loud and a weird mix toward the end of the night. It's so loud that we had to just call it a night and we couldn't hear each other. Our reservation was at 8:30pm so about 10:30pm, ppl arriving just to drink and then the music got straight loud. As we were at the bar counter for dinner, it was not as we intended for a late dinner. Went on Monday which is when they have their prefixed steak frites menu with fries and salad. Salad was delicious loved the dressing. Steak was tender but drowning in sauce which had a lot of pepper in it. If you don't like a lot of sauce tell them not to. I upgraded to truffle fries for $10 more and there was barely ANY truffle on it. Waste of money and disappointment. The affogato at the end was so delicious and highlight of the meal. read more

*review based on a Monday, which is limited to their pre fix menu I have been hearing about casa dami from friends, highlighted for its cute Christmas decor and vibes for the holidays As noted, we went on a Monday which is their steak and frites prefix night. The cut of steak is hangar, it comes medium rare, and is covered in a beef gravy. You get about 6 oz if I had to guess? It's not a large portion to say the least, the same goes for the fries. They were perfectly crisp, lacking salt but, that's an easy fix. The salad that comes prior to the meal is simple and light, and the affogato that follows is heavenly (but to be fair... you can't eff up a affogato lol) They validate parking in the garage IF the machine is actually working. We weren't able to pull a ticket so instead entered our phone number. When we asked about validation our server noted we could just call security so that they can raise the gate for us. Not the fault of the restaurant but it was just annoying after having paid several hundred dollars for a dinner I left hungry from haha Overall, is it worth the hype? Not so much. However it was a good time, the food was good (just extremely overpriced), and the service was good as well. We may come back on a different day to see about their full menu. read more

Very cute little European style cafe and wine bar tucked away in NPB peninsula village. Was taking a stroll one morning with my furbaby when we found this place so checked it out. They were decked out in the Xmas season so had Christmas ornaments and reefs around which gave it a more warm and festive energy. Super cute. I had the trifled egg Benedict with smoked salmon (you get a choice of prosciutto or smoked salmon with the dish) which was very good. Also tried the Patatas bravas on the side which were essentially potato wedges with garlic aioli sauce. This latter one was just ok. Noticed they had a number of tapas and other protein entrees they offer for dinner which I would love to try one day soon. read more

For the price of $48 it's not worth it. There's no balance of taste on the board, all salty types of cheese. One of the cheese slice had the entire rind on there which is wax, it's edible, but I don't want to eat that...it's wax. However, the tomato jam was good. To add on, seems like if there's a party of 2 people you get less and little care for the Board, maybe bigger party if people you get a variety of options on the board? But correct me if I'm wrong. That was just was i noticed. I just wished it was better. We ordered the empanadas, but we got the ham croquetas instead. Great mistake lol, it tasted good. Meatballs were good, sauce was on point. Truffle bikini sandwich was okay. Literally bread and the thinnest meat. Ratio could be better. Chicken Milanese could use some seasoning. We didn't enjoy the drink. Visited this cute spot after work and would say it's more of a spot with a good ambience vs the tapas or wine. Our table had dirty wine glasses and when they were replaced the ordered a bottle that was over $100, that came out flat. We then asked to try a couple of others, until we found one that wasn't. I don't leave reviews, but this time I absolutely had to. Casa Dami was just too good not to talk about. The food was honestly amazing every dish was flavorful, fresh, and beautifully done. You can tell they truly care about quality. Everything we ordered exceeded our expectations. The ambiance was so good and made our date night absolutely perfect. The atmosphere felt warm, intimate, and inviting the kind of place where you can really relax and enjoy the moment. And the service? Nick is hands down the best server. Me and my girlfriends stopped by to split a bottle and share an app! We visited on a Sunday night and we got really lucky the bar seating was open since we didn't have a reservation. Parking is super tough around the area, but if you don't mind walking a couple blocks there's plenty of free street parking. The restaurant is beautiful, it reminds me of some spots you walk past in Europe. Very loud music if you're seated inside. We loved the details of the dinnerware and the service was great. We split a bottle of white wine and shared the patatas bravas which was good! A bottle and the one app came out to $120 which is pretty pricey, but I'd visit again for a special occasion and to try more of their food! read more

I'd say it was a pretty good amount of food, especially if you're planning to get dessert after. It's definitely on the pricier side but that's Newport for you. Like, the croquetas were good but it was $16 for three little ones. Drinks were good, nothing super strong, but they were fruity and bubbly which I liked. Coffee, especially the spanish latte was great and the wine was fine as well. the brunch items were also good, ie. truffle bikini, breakfast sandwich. Unfortunate, the server who was so kind and amazing the first visit is no longer working there. Service was fine the second time, it was definitely busier during sunday brunch. Our server was outstanding, I didn't catch her name but we came on a Sunday for brunch and she was exceptional! Gave us great recommendations and always checked up on the table to see if we needed anything. The restaurant is beautiful, great for a girls brunch or a date. When seated outside there are outdoor heaters to keep you nice and cozy. You can park in a parking garage behind The Crab Cooker ( the red building ) and you can get the parking ticket validated up to 1.5 hours. Cute little spot in Newport Beach! We came here originally just to get drinks and something small to share but everything on the menu sounded so good. We ordered the croqueta, whipped ricotta, and olive oil cake. The croqueta was perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside. The whipped ricotta was paired with olives which I'm not usually a huge fan of, but they paired so well with the ricotta to create an amazing flavor and balance out the creaminess of the cheese. My favorite was the olive oil cake. It wasn't too dense and was complimented well with the mascarpone, lemon, and blackberry. Our sever was very sweet but the service in general was a bit spotty. We didn't get helped until a while after we were seated and the table next to us got helped before us, right after they were seated (after us). It also seemed to be a bit inconsistent and we had to call someone over to get water and to order. After we were helped though, the server came back to check on us without having to ask. Overall, the food was delicious and the service wasn't bad but could definitely be improved on. The drinks were also amazing and the olive oil cake is a must-try. Casa Dami as deligtful but confusing. What do I mean by confusing? Well, a few things. For starters it's a cafe by day and moonlights as a tapas bar by night which I think is a great concept. Additionally, it did feel like it was the love child of a one night stand between a Spaniard and Italian. This began to make much more sense when I checked their website right before writing this review because they do describe themselves as being "inspired by La Dolce Vita" so I guess my gut was right about the Italian vibe I was picking up. I love the tapas culture in Spain and I'm always looking for a place in So Cal that gets it, but the search continues.... six days after visiting Teleferic in Long Beach I found myself at Casa Dami and couldn't wait to try it and see how it compared to Teleferic and Vaca. Our reservationson through Resy was for the patio on a Thursday evening. I'm glad we opted to sit outside because the weather was perfect. Both the space and menu are compact and bijou a la most things European. Vaca and Teleferic offer more options on their menus but CD has some solid options. We had the patatas bravas with sauces on the side, meatballs, the blue fin tuna crudo, the flat iron steak and an affogato (we embraced the Italian influence). We found street parking right out front which was free after 6pm so we didn't need to use the subterranean parking lot (they validate). The atmoshpere was super chill. Since the restaurant was too busy on this weeknight we sat our table for 3 hours and weren't hassled or rushed to head out at all which was very European and much appreciated because it was such a lovley night. The music was lively but not disruptive. Can't wait to return during the cafe or brunch hours to experience how the food and mood of the place and see if there's a different feel from the dinner vibe. read more

The coffee is really good try the Nutella Marocchino is a must. The portions are not the biggest for what you pay, but I think it's more about the atmosphere and the service. Such a cute gem in newport. The interior is so beautiful with marble tables. We started off with Patatas Bravas and I ordered a Damilatte, which was a black cherry mocha. The art on top of the drink was done really well a looked great with the black cherry garnish. I ordered a Truffle Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon which was garnished well and didn't feel too heavy after eating. I also enjoyed the salad they included, which had a nice dressing. One of the most gorgeous cafes! The inside is absolutely stunning and perfect for a lunch date, quick coffee grab or even work session. They have a variety of pastries available including croissants. Ordered a cookie, the dami latte and a Spanish latte. The cookie was very yummy, more on the crispy side. The dami lattes chocolate should have been melted a bit more. It had coagulated and was unpleasant texture to drink. The cherry flavor is lacking and would do so much better if there was a really concentrated syrup. The Spanish latte was perfect. Environment was a little stiff but I assume things will get a bit more relaxed and welcoming over time. This is a cute spot in Newport. They recently open when we came by for lunch. Some of the dishes presented on Yelp may be dinner only items. Got their almond croissants and prosciutto sandwich. We also got their latte and iced matcha latte. The sandwich was marvelous-I actually finished the entire sandwich by myself, which is rare. The ingredients were fresh. Love it. Their croissant was decent and goes well with the latte. As for the matcha-I love my matcha bitter-I don't like tasting the milk. The waiter told us the owner source out the best matcha so I was so hype for it but a bit disappointed. It was ceremonial and a bit bland for me. I would not order this again. We went for the steak frites 3 course on Mondays and it was excellent. The salad was perfectly dressed with a cashew crema spread underneath the salad that was a game changer. Fries were perfect- they tasted freshly cut but they must have prepared them correctly because they were crispy and fluffy inside- not limp like fresh fries can get. The steak was cooked perfectly. I tried the skirt steak which is as it comes and my guy got the Wagyu fillet upgrade. We both liked the taste of mine best but the texture of his best. They serve a really upgraded espresso with their affogato that was a great ending. I didn't realize what a nice patio they have. The service was excellent and we were looked after very well, which is something that we treasure in this current culture. The staff actually cared very much about our needs, which was lovely. I didn't care for the sauce it came with. Charcuterie board was pretty standard but had a really good pepper chutney thing (not sure how to describe it) that I loved and the accompanying bread was great. The gambas were really tasty. Loved the flavor but the prawns themselves seemed slightly overcooked. The pan con tomate was average. It was understated and we had to ask for salt. My husband makes better pan con tomate at home. The small plates are really good like the empanadas and the meatballs, but the portions were laughably small for the price. We found ourselves ordering round after round just to feel satisfied and the bill climbed faster than expected.
