My brother had his wedding at the Lido Hotel a few years ago and our family loves this area! I took a couple of out of state friends here for their first "OC" experience before exploring the peninsula. They really loved the vibes and got all their California sunset pics here lol! Definitely a great place for a chill drink before dinner and a gorgeous view! We got some oysters and to share and a couple rounds of drinks and really enjoyed our time here! Also the service was super quick, our server was upbeat and knowledgeable!

Topside is located at the Lido House Hotel. Valet parking is $16 with no validation. It's a great spot for cocktails with a view, especially at sunset when the atmosphere is at its best. I'd recommend going after 5-6pm...earlier in the day the sun can be brutal, and it's not the most comfortable experience. ATTENTION PEOPLE WHO CARE ABOUT THEIR SKIN: there's not a lot of shade offered, so plan accordingly. Bring a hat, lather on the sunscreen, etc. I chatted with a girl who was there on a first date and she was not happy that her face had literally melted off in the short hour she'd been there That said, the drinks are solid and the setting is beautiful.

Came here on evening Sunday to watch the sunset and have some drinks. I ordered the Ube cannolis, but they look more like taquitos. My friend got a drink and she really enjoyed it. Can you order from the bar and they bring you your items to you The rooftop deck has some immaculate views. It's first come first serve seating on a lot of things. There was plenty of seeing when we got there on a Sunday evening. They have valet parking which is $16. They do not validate.

Always cool vibes when it's near the beach, especially on a rooftop! It's a very coastal and chic place, located on top of the Lido hotel. We came here during July 4th and good thing we made reservations in advance for a seat. Others were standing around with long lines at the bar. Menu was small and drinks were just ok, but it was cool lounging and chatting until sunset when fireworks started to go off. Good thing we ate prior to coming here because it's not a place to dinner. It's valet only, pretty convenient that day since we didn't need to drive around to find busy street parking. Overall cool place to check out if you enjoy drinks and fresh air near the beach.

Came here after spending the day by the pool and I was so delighted by our experience. Just wanted to get a quick drink and I have this obsession with olives that the bartender happily obliged. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The margarita was delicious and the perfect way to end the night with great views.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Topside is such a fun rooftop bar in Newport. I missed the sunset when I went last weekend but the view from up there is still beautiful. They have a DJ playing mellow tunes, low-key and relaxing, though requests are not allowed and the volume stays moderate. The crowd is a nice mix of old and young, giving it a lively yet chill vibe. We were seated right under the heat lamp so it was surprisingly warm and cozy. The Photo Booth added an extra element of fun to the night. Drinks and snacks were great too, perfect for a casual evening with friends. Definitely recommend checking it out.

Came here one evening for a glass of wine. The ambience was great, with fire pits and booths to choose. The bartenders were very kind, create a good conversation and being personable. I really enjoyed my time here, I can't wait to come back.

Great vibes, atmosphere, drinks and views! If you're looking for a spot for a big group or to hang out and grab drinks, this is a great option. Heads up - you do need to valet your car which was about $15, and drinks are around $20-25/each. Prices can definitely add up but you are paying for the atmosphere, views and location.

One of my favorite places to get drinks either during the day or for sunset! The views are amazing and you can see a lot of new port and the ocean! The food is great, they are always changing the menu and have lots of options. The burrata with fresh water melon and cantaloupe is my absolute favorite!! They have a large cocktail list. Typically I get a glass of of wine or if in a group they sell the bottle For a good price and bring it in a bucket to keep cool of white or sparking. The wait staff is so friendly and helpful! It is my go to for a great sunset happy hour. I bring anyone who is visiting here.

I appreciated that the quesadilla was super cheesy, it was a great size too and was perfect as an entree with the beans and rice. I was very happy with the flavor of the beans, you could tell they were cooked with a lot of love! The tacos were delicious as well, the roasted salsa was slightly smoky with a good jalapeño flavor, the meat was tender, and the tortillas had a great chew. The churros are not to be underestimated- they were thick and fluffy, and the dipping sauces were perfect accompaniments. The flan was the super star of the whole night for me- genuinely the most perfect, custardy, unctuous flan I've ever had. The vanilla bean specks throughout gave it such flavor, there wasn't a ton of syrup but it honestly did not need it. There is absolutely nothing that could have improved that flan. Will definitely come back, hopefully dine in and try a few drinks!

As someone with a gluten sensitivity, I asked questions about the menu and trusted that my meal would be safe. Instead, I ended up having a gluten reaction after eating here, which completely ruined the rest of my evening. If you advertise gluten-friendly options, staff should be properly trained on cross-contamination and ingredient awareness. The atmosphere and location are great, but none of that matters if diners with dietary restrictions can't eat safely. I hope the restaurant takes food allergies and gluten sensitivities more seriously in the future.

The restaurant has a warm, inviting atmosphere with a beautiful design that strikes a nice balance between upscale and comfortable. It's the kind of place where you can settle in and enjoy a leisurely meal. We started with the roasted bone marrow, which was pure indulgence. I spread that rich, nutty, buttery goodness over the crispy toast points, and every bite was better than the last. Next came the prawns. The chefs did an outstanding job highlighting the natural umami from the shrimp head before the sweetness of the corn and shallots blended perfectly with the tender, succulent shrimp. It was a dish that kept evolving with every bite. The smoked short rib was the star of the meal. I asked for the sauce on the side, but it was clear the meat had already been cooked sous vide with the sauce, allowing those deep, savory flavors to fully penetrate every bite. The result was an incredibly tender short rib that practically melted in my mouth. Absolutely delicious. From the welcoming ambiance to the thoughtfully executed dishes, Fable and Spirit delivered a memorable dining experience. I'll definitely be making a return visit the next time I'm in the area.

My friends and I have gone here a few times and its always been good. When we went this past…read moreFriday, it completely destroyed any good memories we had here. Let story time begin. We just finished dinner and made an online reservation for Pioneer at 10pm. We arrive at 9:45 and per the instructions of the online reservation, we check in with the bald bartender. Baldie asked what time the reservation was for and we said 10. He then asked what time it was and we say 9:47. He responded I will see you at 10 then. His tone was absolutely rude and condescending. It definitely rubbed us the wrong way, but we let it slide as we were having a great night and didn't want this to kill our vibe. We wait outside until 10:02 and the hostess calls us in. We are seated and immediately notice that the music is quite loud. Not blaring, but definitely need to speak louder than normal to carry a conversation. The bar itself is dim and seating is very tight. Our waiter comes by a few minutes later and asks if we've been here before. We say yes (at least 3 times), but it's been about a year since our last visit. He begins to refresh our memory stating that they specialize in making variants of classics and that all cocktail are premade and simply garnished and served. Also, the menu doesn't include the cocktail's main spirit in the description because they want you to taste the described flavor profiles and not focus so much on the spirit itself. We ask for recommendations and follow his lead and also order bread and butter as a snack. We are chatting and having a good time when we notice it's been a while since we ordered, especially for premade cocktails. That's when the waiter comes around and says they lost our order and retake our order. When the cocktails arrive a few minutes later, the waiter states that they're giving us another order of bread and butter on the house and also giving us a discount for the inconvenience. We were surprised but happily thanked him. He did a great job at identifying the problem and fixed it even before we could mention it. This guy is awesome. The drinks are unique/different. They're good but not amazing. Cocktails/food are 3.5 out of 5. We finish and ask for the check. The waiter brings by the mobile credit card reader and leaves it at our table and says there's no rush. We wanted to pay cash, so we waited for him to come back. Guess who comes back instead to close the bill? Baldie... and this is where it goes downhill. He says that they don't accept cash. My friend, being the goofball he is, says "are you sure?" and tries to insert the dollar bill into the chip reader slot. Baldie, having no sense of humor, literally says "you're pretty stupid aren't you?" We were all annoyed by that comment. Yes my friend is being stupid but obviously he's joking around. My friend then doubles down and said maybe it'll work if he slides the bill instead of inserting and he proceeds to slide the dollar bill through the credit card machine. Baldie then says "Wow, you really are stupid." At this point we were all like wtf, what kind of customer service is this. We simply insert our card and gave a shit tip, which I feel bad about because the actual waiter was AMAZING. So amazing, I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1. What started as a great night turned into the most annoying experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Baldie if you're reading this, you shouldn't deal with customers at all. No customer service skills. No sense of humor. Stay behind the bar and pour your premade drinks. Better yet, I hope management reads this and decides you're more of a liability than an asset.

It's a fun spot to grab a drink for the ambiance, but as a full meal, it leaves a lot to be desired. The food itself is okay--the quesa birria tacos have decent flavor and the carne asada comes with a nice char--but given the steep prices, you expect way better execution and more generous portions. Paying high-end money for pretty standard street food staples dressed up on nice plateware just feels overpriced. Service was fine enough, nothing to complain about, but the value just isn't there for what they're charging. On top of that, parking can be a bit challenging since it's tucked away in kind of a weird location. If you're going purely for photos, fancy cocktails, and a trendy date night backdrop, it fits the bill, but if you're looking for great food value, there are much better spot-on Mexican joints in OC.
