Definitely one of my new favorite brunch spots - made it into my top 5 (in terms of food and location, at least)! Love the casual vibe of this place. It's waterfront and can be accessed via the boardwalk (it's behind the street-side shops). Parking can be tough and very expensive - you'll likely have to park in the structure and walk over. Make sure to take your ticket with you for validation. Seating is available inside and outside on their covered patio. Plenty of space for parties of all sizes. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to make a same-day reservation for a Sunday afternoon. They had plenty of open seating even when we got there. Tables were very dirty. They have a lot of work to do - it seems like months if not years of food, dust, and salty moist air mixed together and collected in the creases in the tables, on the walls, etc.. It's like a sticky gross residue that never gets completely clean. Many people like to dress nice in the area but honestly I would hate to wear something nice here out of fear it would get dirty. We also required new plates as ours had old food stuck to them. Service was not great. Our waiter was somewhat attentive but not nice - the poor guy seemed miserable like he hated his job and did not want to be there. Despite the restaurant being full, he wouldn't come by often when we actually needed something - he even disappeared towards the end and a new waiter had to help us. Food is delicious. Besides the location, their saving grace. We tried the sandwiches and yummy! Fries were also delicious with the spicy mayo. Love the different options they have, overall. They also had some great looking food on the brunch and drinks section of the menu. You can scan the QR code at the table to see pictures of each menu item. We went around 9-10pm and the host gave us a table with napkins and utensils but no plate, so alright maybe they forgot. I usually come for the steak fries since the fries are good. However, today's service was so bad to the point that I been waving my hands and making eye contact to order for 15-20 minutes. And they were actually ignore us. Maybe we didn't dress decent enough for them to serve us since we were in our regular jean and tshirt. So I have to actually speak up and call them to order. So when we get to order, it was 10:20pm already. After the foods are brought out, we had a decent dinner together and they are about to close. So one of the server brought out the check for us to pay and we decided to pay with exact amount with cash and leave tip in cash also. Zinqué is always a good idea. Made a reservation for a Saturday evening and we were seated immediately. We sat right along the boardwalk walkway and it was so relaxing with the water view. It was the Saturday before Mother's Day, so it was a little busier than usual, but it didn't compromise the service. Drinks came out a little slow, but the food arrived in a reasonable time. I ordered the house margarita and it was better than expected. I usually opt for wine here. The salmon was delicious and the yogurt sauce really set it off. Came here for happy hour after a pilates class with my friend. I have been wanting to try Zinqué, and Lido is always such a nice place to visit. They offer a 3 for $24 deal during happy hour, but just know the tapas are definitely on the smaller side. We ordered the burrata Roman petite pizzas, crispy saffron rice bites (our server warned that this came with only three pieces), and the pâté de campagne. Everything tasted good, but I was a little disappointed by the portion size of the crispy saffron rice bites. They were a delicious snack, I wish it came with more. Same goes for the pâté, which was presented on 2 pieces of toast. For drinks, we had the Passion Sol and the Red Sangria. Both refreshing and delicious. The ambiance is beautiful. While the atmosphere is good, it does not make up for the bad food and terrible service. Atmosphere itself is open, rustic, and has both indoor and outdoor seating right next to the marina. The service is pretty bad as you do not get the exact items you order. Staff also do not seem to care when you try to get this resolved. First of all, do not order the french fries if you are expecting to get the Sriracha mayo dip that is noted in the description of the item. They only give you ketchup. Second, do not order the flourless chocolate cake to go. Once again, the description clearly states that it comes with ice cream, however, this is not provided when you order it to go. Third, the Comte pizzas (mini pizzas) are pretty bad. The zucchini and onion "pizza" is just four small bites. It is also 80% bread with no toppings. This is definitely not worth the price. The crispy saffron rice bites are nothing like what you would expect. I have had many good crispy rice with tuna/salmon, and this was easily the worst one of all. The rice itself is not actually crispy, and the consistency is really weird. Additionally, they should put some salt or Sriracha mayo on this for a little more flavor as the whole thing overall is quite bland. Last, the salmon plate is OK. The same itself was actually pretty well seasoned and tasty, but the rest of the components like the rice and eggplant are lacking in a lot of flavor. If you order anything to go, do not expect the restaurant to resolve any issues. I called to discuss the inconsistencies with what I received versus what is specifically stated on the menu. I came here for my birthday with a party of 8 people total. Absolutely terrible service and set up. We arrived and the table was set with 10 seats so it was extremely awkward to fit everyone around the table with extra seats even though they called to confirm a party of 8 earlier that afternoon. The drinks and food was very delicious. Although the steak and frites was extremely dry and not medium rare. We had 2 anaphylactic nut allergys at the dinner table. We made sure to tell the waiter the second we sat down and continued to make sure the dishes were nut free. The restaurant is in a beautiful area and the outdoor seating is much nicer than indoor. The food was good and the waitress was great. My only frustration is I asked for seating outside and pointed to an available table with six seats. The host said there's no outdoor seating available and we would have to sit indoor at the high bar. We took the seats, ate and left which took 1.5 hours and the outdoor table was still available. I heard really good things about Zinqué. Unfortunately, the parking situation was almost impossible. When I finally made it to the host desk, the two guys there were trying to accommodate someone without a reservation and in the process I overheard them cancel my reservation because I was 10 minutes late and they marked me as a no-show. I didn't feel I had the liberty to step in and say anything so I waited for them to finish the interaction, and then tried to check in, at that point 15 minutes late. Fortunately, they were able to find a table for me, but they seemed less than thrilled about it. I'll give them this, it was a crazy busy time because there was a boat show going on. I wish I had known because I would've never made the reservation during that hot mess. Mimosas were good, but I was there for the ratatouille to be quite frank. Their version is not it. They've just seated a new party at that table that she said they were waiting to clear? There's no follow thru. It seems disorganized. I don't understand why the manager let us wait 2 hours past our reservation , before telling us they strictly cannot seat our tables beside each other. The food didn't take long to come out. But it did take a hot minute just to place an order. (I knew what I wanted to order days ahead lol) Parking- 4 hours later my parking spot cost $27 after 1 hour validation. Clean, well lit garage. The only downside was the espresso, which tasted noticeably bitter and a bit over extracted. It didn't match the quality of the food. Overall, great atmosphere and strong food execution. Zinqué Review Moules-Frites 9.76/10- this dish was truly incredible! While I like mussels but aren't crazy about them, these were amazing - made with shallots, white wine cream sauce, pastis, and parsley. The sauce was so buttery and rich, with this perfect balance of white wine and cream that reminded me so much of escargot sauce. The mussels themselves were super fresh and perfectly cooked. The French fries were exactly how I love them - super skinny and crispy on the outside while staying soft inside, and seasoned perfectly with herbs. The bread they served with it was also fantastic - so fresh and crusty, perfect for soaking up all that amazing sauce. Le Bowl 9.58/10- honestly such a spectacular salad! They make it with chicken, arugula, brown and forbidden rice, avocado, tomatoes, comté, and sriracha mayo. I'm actually not a fan of arugula at all but this salad completely changed my mind about it. The chicken was super tender and well seasoned, and the mix of brown and forbidden rice gave it such great texture. The comté added this amazing nutty flavor and the sriracha mayo brought everything together perfectly. French Toast 5.02/10- this was pretty disappointing. We wanted to try a breakfast dish since we came for brunch but this really fell short. It was super simple and bland - they apparently soak the berries in honey but even that couldn't save how flavorless the toast itself was. The texture wasn't great either and it needed way more flavor. Blueberry Banana Bread 7.56/10- I loved how generous they were with the blueberries and how well they worked with the banana flavor. The texture was perfect - super soft without being mushy or dry. You could really taste both the banana and blueberries in every bite. It was served lukewarm though and definitely would've been better heated up. Could've used some maple syrup to add some extra sweetness! Flourless Chocolate Cake 7.88/10- this cake was so rich and decadent with this intense chocolate flavor that just melts in your mouth. You definitely need the ice cream it comes with to balance out the richness. While it was good, I wish they served it warm as I think that would've made the chocolate even more amazing. Baklava Latte 8.12/10- I had to try this since I've never had a baklava latte before! They make it with espresso, pistachio milk, honey, orange blossom, and cardamom. The pistachio milk was such a perfect touch and really gave it that authentic baklava taste. I loved how you could really taste the cardamom and the subtle sweetness from the honey. The orange blossom added this amazing floral note that tied everything together. I've been wanting to try Zinqué for so long since I've only heard amazing things and love French food - it definitely didn't disappoint when it came to the food and ambiance! The service however wasn't great at all. We had to wait around 45 minutes just to be helped and place our order, and they even charged us for items we didn't order on our bill.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ I also ordered hot water with lemon (which they charge for) but it didn't even come out with my meal and we were there for over 2 hours. I've always enjoyed the Lido area for its great scenery and relaxed vibes, and Zinque definitely doesn't disappoint in that regard. The servers are friendly, and the atmosphere is always welcoming. The food is good, though a bit on the pricey side for what it's worth. I tried the fried chicken sandwich--it was decent, but nothing mind-blowing. I came here for a weekday dinner and ordered 15 items on the menu to share with a table of four. I appreciate that there's a lot of vegetarian options so there's a nice variety. I tried several of the cocktails, and my favorite was definitely the spicy margarita. Some of the other cocktails were too sweet for my liking. Out of the appetizers, the quesadilla ratatouille was unique. My main course was steak frites and that was decent as well. By the end of the night several items we wanted to try were not available. The service does get pretty slow as the restaurant gets busier (for example it took close to 25 minutes for our bill to come after asking for the check). The host looked irritated we were there. Idk why they weren't even busy but she did say us where I asked for so that's a plus. I frequent the dtla location more and they're much FRIENDLIER and eager to help. 3 ordered steak frites and I ordered the crispy eggs w prosciutto. Standard stuff, it was good. Today, I've returned to Zinqué for a 3rd time. Every time I'm with a different friend group, I recommend this spot because you really can't go wrong! I bet you can guess, I ordered the Green Lasagna again & it was just as life changing as always. All my friends were obsessed with my order as well. We tried a range of pastas, all so remarkable. Best thing about this spot is that it's not TOO fancy. You can come casual or you can come in dresses. There is a place for everyone to enjoy their night. Prices are also fairly inexpensive with regards to the quality you're getting. read more
