Loyal customers for 12 years and, yet, they choose to scam us...dishonesty should not be taken lightly! We brought the car for diagnostic, they called us telling that timing belt was worn out and needs replacement. The price estimate they gave us was $2000. We said that we needed to think about it because it sounded like too much for the job. They went ahead and replaced the timing belt (without replacing water pump!!! Water pump replacement should be done along with timing belt replacement-common safety practice everywhere). They told me that they spent 8.4 hours on replacing the timing belt (normal time for a professional is 2 hour, an amateur can do it in 3 hours). They charged me for the Timing Belt Kit $495.95 PLUS the belt itself $89.99 (although it is normally sold with the kit as a package for $365 maximum price). The total bill came up to $1975, and that is WITHOUT OUR CONSENT because we trusted this business for 12 years, they decided to go ahead without our approval of the estimated fee. In comparison, local Acura certified dealership charge $1555 (including tax) for changing timing belt WITH water pump replacement!!! Their professional statement, just like every other shop I asked, was that water pump should be replaced at the same time as timing belt for further engin preservation as water pump has the same wear and tear estimate as the timing belt. After speaking with Casarella's about this, they told me that they can replace the water pump at additional cost. After a day of back and forth meaningless texts, they reduced their bill to 6.4 hours of labor time, which clearly shows the how the price scam works, and their dishonesty because it only takes 2 hours to replace the timing belt at a professional auto shop!! That dishonesty in addition to overcharging for the replaced parts and NOT replaced water pump. OUTRAGEOUS!! read more

Took my car to get an inspection done, they told me everything is fine except i needed to get new wipers. They forced me to buy $50 wipers from them or else i would fail my inspection. I took home my old wipers and had my husband look at them and he even said we just got ripped off! Never going back. read more

Not sure why anyone wouldn't give Casarella's 5 stars. This is a great family business which are hard to find these days. I took my Honda civic to to Honda of New Rochelle for the free 30k head to toe service and they basically tried to get me to get all new brakes, tires, you name it. I told them no way and brought the car back to Casarella's where I bring it for oil changes. He said the breaks and the tires were fine and not even 1/2 way. It goes to show you, the big "machine" places are just that, machines meant to press everyone for every dime they can squeeze out of you. Not Casarella's, I have found them to be honest, good guys who shoot you straight and take very good care of cars. Period. First time I went here was a few years back with my sister's old car that needed repairing, I think the alternator and a few other things. They gave me an estimate after looking at it, confirmed I wanted it done, and had it fixed in no time. The bill was very reasonable, and they even fixed the sunroof gasket (small fix) at no charge because they noticed it leaked there after rain a week prior. Ever since then, I've only dealt with them. I take my car, sister's car, mom's car, dad's car, and tell all my friends about them. Never heard a single complaint, in fact, only "thank you's" and "wow, done in no time". Does the right thing by you and your car. Service is great, in and out quick, prices are very fair, and he's honest with you about your car. Let's you choose what you need done to your car after showing you exactly what's wrong. Terrible service. Avoid. I brought in my car for an engine light Tuesday, they called me back Wednesday that it was a sensor. They ordered the part then they found out that another sensor was needed. They told me the car was going to be ready on Friday morning. I kept calling Friday and they said that the car was ready within an hour. I called in again an hour later, they said the car will be ready within an hour. Then an hour they said the car is ready. When I showed up in the shop they said the car is not ready, but "almost" ready. I was waiting with a bunch of mechanics finishing a bottle of wine and swearing in Italian. Finally Tony said my car was ready and wrote me a hand-written receipt of the repair. I asked Tony to show me the receipts for the parts he had installed. He got furious and refused to show me anything, so we got into an argument and he said that because I don't "trust him" the repair is cash only. He calmed down and managed to show me one of the receipts of the two parts he had installed. At that point I got scared and just wanted my car back. When I finally got my car after an hour wait and a really uncomfortable argument at the shop, the engine light was still on. He called a mechanic and reset the computer. It was the most horrible and traumatic experience I have ever had dealing with an eccentric car mechanic. Save yourself trouble and money and avoid this place! read more

These people are dirty, and I was scammed! My battery died while I was parked across from Cassarella"s. I needed my car for work, and they said they would fix it right away. They said I needed a battery and a new alternator. I could see that the .battery was new, but asked to see the old alternator.They told me it was very dirty so they discarded it (illegal). When I saw my regular mechanic 1mo. later, I asked him to look at the alternator. It was dirty and covered with rust - obviously the original part It had never been replaced. I was scammed. I take both of our cars to Tony and Gerry at Casarella's. They almost always provide prompt same day service. Never had a problem with Casarella's. They are always happy to help me check tire pressure when I come in with the occasional tire concerns (new cars have sensitive tire sensors!). Just last week my car battery died because my oldest left the reading light on! Tony came to jump the car and new battery was installed and car ready within 5 hours. I have used the same family mechanic my entire life, but I just moved to the to the area and needed to find a new auto body shop. I happened upon Casarella's and could not be happier. My car was making an awful noise and I had no idea what it was. I also do not know very much about cars. They did not take advantage of the situation at all. They put on new breaks and rotors for a great deal the very next day. They even reimbursed me for the Ubers I took to drop off and pick up my car. Great service and even better people. I never ever write reviews online but I'm just doing this because I don't want other people getting caught with the experience I had. I dealt directly with Tony, I believe he is the owner. This business has been around for years and years. I was referred to them by a friend at work who is a car nut and his family goes to them for all their cars etc. I figured he was the best person to ask. Just FYI, I'm a young female and I have a '96 Honda, I was the one speaking on my behalf and I went with a girlfriend to drop the car off. Probably a bad idea. I would guess I was taken advantage of because of a young woman who they assume doesn't know anything about cars. I spoke to them on a weekday and told them I didn't get out of work until at least 5 PM so they suggested coming on Saturday, first thing. I arrived before 9 AM and dropped off the car -- I repeated what I told them over the phone, mentioned my friend's name who referred me again and even wrote it on my contact card I left them. I told them: I am moving to CA from NY and need to drive the car across country, please check it so I can know if it is safe to drive, I know I need an oil change for sure, but please check everything. They told me they didn't work a full day Saturday (hadn't mentioned that on the phone when they asked me to drop it off then instead of a week day) and they said wanted to take their time checking everything so they didn't miss anything. I said OK, I could deal with not having a car for a little but I did need it for work. Called back later Saturday, no answer and their main line has no answering machine - just continually rings. I figured they may be closed already, it was around 4 PM. Monday, call main line- no answer - call 2nd time, no answer. Leave a message on the cell phone number on business card. No call back. Called again and they told me the car is ready. I asked if they did work because I never spoke to anyone they said they'd call me back. They call me back. they have done all the work on my car (break pads/rotors, tune up, oil change) I told them I didn't get a call from anyone to approve the work - they said they still haven't done a road test and they'll call me back. Tuesday, call multiple times before I get anyone on the phone. They tell me I need $450 worth of work on top of the $400 work they already did on the breaks etc. These guys never called me to ask me to approve anything. I had to contact them multiple times and they played phone tag with me while they were obviously doing work I didn't approve. My father and I had replaced my break pads only months before and he knows a good deal about cars, he had even checked the rotors and didn't think they looked bad. If they had suggested the work I would have said no and brought it to the mechanic that does work on my father's car. I ended up paying them $300 in cash - not the $400 they were going to charge for the work they did without asking. He said there was "miscommunication" - there wasn't. They tried to take advantage and didn't expect me to question it. read more

My car died so I had it jumped and drove it to Cassarella as it was right around the corner from the COOP on Hartsdale Avenue. I was told I need a new alternator and battery. After much hassling with them, they did the work for $500. 1.5 years later I had an issue with the power in the car again. As I know live in Upper Westchester County I brought it to my mechanic there. He was shocked that I had my alternator replaced 1.5 years ago because it was still an original part. So to summarize, they never even changed the alternator. I called to talk to them about this and they were rude and abrasive. Save your hard earned money and use a different garage. read more

These guys are the Biggest Rip-Off in Westchester. They charged me for work that wasn't done and Parts that were never replaced. I got a Bill for Over $1500 and they NEVER called me with an Estimate or my OK to do the work which I specifically asked them to do because of a previous bad Experience. Only to have the same problem I brought it to them for in the first place--and when I called to tell them they said it would need more Parts to really fix the Problem--REALLY!! Rotates tires for a decent price. I can't recommend it for other repairs but they were quick and pain free in comparison to other repair stores. I didn't want to spend a day at Mavis to get tires rotated. They seem pretty decent for minor work. Good luck! read more

Crooked. Do not go here. Said I needed brake pads and rotors to pass NYS insection. However inspection of removed parts showed them all to be in good condition. Filed report with MVD who send an inspector to examine these parts which I had saved. Confitmed unnecessary repair and had Casarella return my payment of $550. read more

Had a belt come loose in our car, so it was very difficult to turn our car, plus the battery was draining quick as a result of the generator not working from it. A local recommended this auto repair shop to us when we asked someone where the closest auto shop was. Casarella's saw us quick notice near closing, & as a result we were able to get home great. To keep it simple these are honest mechanics. Thats why I give them five stars. They are not trying to rip you off or tell you that you need more repairs that you actually need. Before I came here I was told it would cost me over $2000 to do the necessary repairs work on my car. I was told this by two different shops. I decided to go for a 3rd opinion and ended up here. I have been taking my 2002 VW Golf here for the past 2 years. Casrarella has kept it running. It's an old car, and naturally parts are starting to wear out. Any repairs thay make are "one and done".
