What a great place! In this age of throwaway everything, it is fabulous to have someone who can fix things. Took my Weston steel dehydrator in after it fried the on switch (and tripped my breaker). Weston's advice was to ship to their East coast shop for repair (no thanks, it is huge and heavy). For less than 30% cost of a new one I have it beautifully working again with a much better and higher amp switch installed! Yay! While there, I also shopped their used/refurbished appliances and found a nice microwave to replace my odd sized 20 year old built in. Cost me $80, when Lowe's was quoting me over $900 for a new one in that weird size!! Saved me a bundle! I can't recommend these nice people highly enough! Buy quality stuff and get it repaired right! Also sell some good-quality rebuilt used appliances. They were on SE 9th near Hawthorne in Portland for a long time, lost their lease and moved to Woodburn. Worth the trip! This seems to be the only place in the city that repairs Kitchen Aid mixers. The reviews here made me apprehensive, I called half a dozen other places and no one else else wanted to touch it. I have to say I had a fine experience getting my mixer repaired. They called back in 5 days to let me know what was going on, just as they said they would. Another three days or so and it was ready for pickup, even better than new with metal gears instead of the plastic ones that are standard on the newer models. read more

Brought our Kitchen Aid mixer here for repair a year ago. Mixer has been in storage for nearly 8 of those months so it has only been used 10 times. Price on the repair was $235.00. New mixer was $400 but the tech told me that we would have the same issue with a new mixer as Kitchen Aid used "plastic gears" and he would replace with metal. He assured us this would give us a much more reliable mixer over a new one. We could have bought the smaller Kitchen Aid at Costco for $250.00. Bit the bullet, had them repair it and low and behold, same issue in less than 10 uses. Called them today and was told we were past the 30 day warranty and would need to pay them another bench charge if we wanted them to look at it. Very frustrated. Avoid this company. read more

I brought my Kitchen Aid stand mixer in for a tune up and because of a noise I was hearing back in October 2012. You tuned it, lubed it replaced a gasket. Said it worked great. I have used it four times since then, and the first couple of times it seemed to be fine, but the noise started up again on the 3rd use (during Christmas) and now it's sounds like it's falling apart. That little noise I heard to start out with is ten times worse. Your solution is to charge me more money for a problem your technician didn't fix in the first place. I was excited to find a shop nearby to give my business to since I think it's important to support locally. I also know that this sometimes comes with a small increase in cost for a product as online dealers can often sell things cheaper. So, I head over for a kitchenaid mixer part. And for $25 I am a little surprised but decide to get it anyway with the idea that the technician can give me (or sell me) a small amount of grease when he or she returns the following day. Here is where my issues start with this company: !. Four days later, I did not receive the call back I was promised from the front desk person to confirm when the technician would be back in the shop. 2. I call and am told I cannot have or buy a small amount of the grease but instead I have to buy a quart or $40 worth because that is how they buy it. I am told, because they, "buy and use so much of it." That comment makes me think they have lots of it and are constantly opening containers and using it, so why wouldn't they have some to give or sell if I bring in a small container. 3. So I do more research, which I wish I had done earlier, but again I was excited to support locally. And I find out that I can buy the part for under $2 online AND I can get the grease- a quart- for under $17. Are you kidding me! So no, I don't think this is a good business to support. They lack customer service, are significantly more over priced than I think a brick and morter shop should reasonably be, and the lack of help they offered did not make up for the extra cost. We have used Cascade Electronics for repairs on two occasions. The first time out, with a washing machine, there was a simple clog that I could have easily fixed had I googled it online. However, the technician was competent and walked us through the process of cleaning it. A couple years later, same washer and same technician. This time the pump on the washing was shot and repaired. SO, why not 4 or 5 stars? On this second trip there was a dishwasher not cleaning dishes properly. This is where the trouble starts..... Based on a visual inspection only, the technician diagnosed the problems as a burned out heating element (at the total cost of over $200+labor). Okay, cheaper than a new new dishwasher.... Problem 1. He said that one part was in stock and another was in Seattle and would take a couple of days to get in. Days later we had to call and were told that the part (we were told was in stock) was on backorder. It was weeks later (hand washing dishes and borrowing the neighbors washing machine) before the part were installed. That was only after we went off on a rant when they initially scheduled us an additional two weeks out. Problem 2. With the dishwasher, the technician refused to allow us to keep the old part (a warning sign we missed). After installing the dishwasher parts the machine still does not clean our dishes. Which makes us question of the part he replaced was bad in the first place. We will never know because he did not leave the old part. Problem 3. When we called to discuss this problem we were first told by the admin assistant that the problem was not the machine but the soap we were using. Funny, we had not changed soap products in years and we never had this problem before. The next day the technician called back parroted the same line and said that the dishwasher was fixed, he would not come out to further diagnose the problem, and in fact, he was removing us from his client list because he had no interested in working with us in the future. So we are out $250 and still do not have a dishwasher that is operational. Beyond "Eek! Me thinks not." This is actually a negative star "RUN LIKE HECK away from this company" review. With such a low score, there is no wonder this business has not invested in developing their YELP profile. read more

I had the same experience as Benno L. Avoid them, avoid Frigidaire, but if you have to use these people, be ready for the simplest of fixes to take months. MONTHS. None of your calls or emails will be returned. They will miss appointments and blame you for that. They will show up without the parts. Cascade fixed our fridge, only the fix didn't last. So that is on Fridgidaire and the total fail of a product they make. But then, Cascade was slated to come and fix it again, over a month later, via warranty, and they were scheduled for a Tuesday. They never showed. Never even called. When we got them on the phone the next day, no apology, no empathy, they just said they'd have time to help us 8 DAYS LATER! So they miss our appointment entirely, and then don't prioritize us, but push us out another week or more? I don't know what the norm in this industry is, but that was some of the most brazen disregard for a customer I've run into in a long time. We are now on the queue for another company. GE warranty service referred me to this shop for my countertop microwave. I tried to call them dozens of times over a two day period and got a busy signal (even after 9:00 PM. They obviously have their phone off the hook. I'm really surprised at the bad reviews for this place. Our 12 year old Wolf microwave broke and I called Cascade to see if it was worth fixing. The woman I spoke with transferred me to the technician, who, after hearing a description of the problem, quoted me $100 for the repair. I dropped off the microwave in the pouring rain and the receptionist helped me bring it into the building. She was very friendly. The next day the technician phoned me and explained what was problem was and quoted me a total cost of $120, including the parts (very reasonable). I had a very good experience with Cascade with the repair of an air conditioning unit and a vacuum cleaner. I will consider Cascade again for future repairs. We were referred/directed to this location by Sharp for our microwave which was still under limited warranty. Sharp paid for us to have the microwave diagnosed and we paid the minor repair cost. The microwave worked. The staff were vaguely disorganized but that was the over all in store impression. Unfortunately, within a month or so little bugs started appearing. At first we didn't think to much of it, until Thanksgiving day when a big bug crawled out of the holes that the microwave door shuts into as I was cooking Thanksgiving dinner. Then we started seeing more bugs. Until now, less then a week before Christmas and we have the Orkin man coming to spray and put bait down for cockroaches. That's right. Cockroaches. They answered immediately and helped me figure out what I needed to order, ordered it and said they would call me when my order arrived. A few weeks later, Michael called to leave a message that my order was in. While searching for driving directions to Cascade Electronics, I noticed it's 2 star rating and subconsciously made a note of it. As I entered the store, I was greeted by a cheerful young woman at the front desk who readily retrieved my items. I signed for them and left the store. When I returned home, I remembered the 2 star rating and was perplexed as my experience was nothing but positive with each encounter. I just used Cascade Electronics to repair my microwave oven. They did a great job and I will definitely use them again for appliance repair. The cheap plastic handle fell off of my Frigidaire over-the-range microwave oven. I had some difficulty finding an appliance repair place that repairs microwaves. Fortunately I found Cascade Electronics. They ordered the part and within a week they called to schedule the repair. The repairman came out and discovered that he had the wrong handle. He called around and found the correct handle at a local appliance store. He went to retrieve the part. Unfortunately it turned out to be the incorrect part yet again -- a manufacturer issue. Within the next week Cascade had hunted down the correct part and now I have a brand new higher quality metal handle on my microwave. Both repairmen who came out were prompt and professional. So my tv broke under warranty and it was a toshiba and i was referred to cascade by toshiba. At first they were skeptical because toshiba is known to take forever and yes it did. But this was on toshiba not cascade. They informed me that it will be a wait because toshiba takes forever to realize that their products are not the greatest and I agree i had the tv for 6 months and it broke on its own. So i took it there and it take a while the tv was fixed in 4 months but like i said its because of toshiba not cascade they diagnosed it and fixed it quick within a few weeks we all had to wait for toshiba to give the go ahead to fix it and the go ahead to pay up. The customer service is outstanding and i will return with other electronics. I had nothing but a great experience with Cascade. read more

I took my Cuisinart toaster oven to them to be fixed. I love that toaster oven and was sad when one day it stopped working. I didn't want it to end up in the landfill, so I searched the internet for small appliance repair, after many calls one person refereed me to Cascade, I am so glad I found them. They repaired my toaster oven, they charge $35 to take a look at the problem and apply that to the repair bill. My toaster oven was fixed within a week. Everyone I dealt with was courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. I will be using them again. It's much better to fix an appliance, than to throw it away. I am a happy customer! read more

They called me the day of and said they would be pick my t.v up between 9-2. I told them I was told between 8-12. And that it was suppose to be in home service. (F.Y.) We were referred to Cascade Electronics by Sears when they couldn't make the repair on our Danby wine cooler. They claimed that they couldn't do the diagnostics at our house, so we had to pay them $70 to come pick up the refrigerator and take it to their shop. After two weeks they still hadn't called me, so I called them and was told I would get a call back. They didn't call for three more days. Eventually they made the repair and returned the unit (the total repair came to $250 - not cheap). After a little more than a month it stopped working again (same exact symptoms). When I called to tell them they said I was PAST THEIR 30 DAY WARRANTY. My only option with them is to pay another chunk of change to have them do more questionable work. No thank you. read more

Took my food processor in on Dec 5, called them today Dec 18th because I hadn't heard a thing. The man told me he was "just going to call me!" "the housing has been discontinued, d I want to come get it or have them "recycle" it for me". I just paid $35 to drive something to Portland, remember to call them back and then have them tell me that the obvious part that was broken can't be fixed because it's discontinued. I was apprehensive after reading some of the other reviews, but I must admit this company came through with flying colors. I broke my 6 qt. Kitchen Aid Mixer by placing the bowl in incorrectly. I received a call within 24 hours of delivering my mixer telling me what parts needed to be replaced, the cost, and when the mixer would be ready for pick-up. I got an appointment set (with a four hour wait window), Ashley assured me the repair person would call when he was on his way so I wouldn't have to have someone wait around for four hours, he didn't. He showed up, told my house sitter it was the electronic panel and they'd call me. I waited a week and called Ashley back to find out what was going on and to voice my concern about their service because I had to call three times for service. She said the part would be in Dec 2. It's now the 21st and I still haven't heard from her. I called Bosche and they referred me to Appliance & Refrigerator Hospital. They've already come and gone...it WASN'T the electronic panel. It might be just me, but I don't think I have to beg a service provider to provide service I'm (in this case manufacturer) is going to pay for. read more

They repaired a wine cooler a few years ago and the overall experience was marginally acceptable. The compressor fan on our under the counter refrigerator has recently started making noise. I called and I asked the woman that answered if they repaired Avanti under the counter refrigerators and she said they do. I asked her how much it would cost to pick up the unit and check it out and she said the minimum charge was $70.00: $35.00 to pick it up and $35.00 to check the unit out. I asked how much it would cost to replace the compressor fan if that was what was causing the unit to be noisy. She said she did not know and further stated that she was not sure whether or not they could obtain a replacement compressor fan. I asked why she could not tell me whether or not they could obtain a replacement and she said they would have to know the specifications of the fan. I asked her if I provided the specifications could she tell me if they could obtain a replacement compressor fan and she said no. She said the only solution was for them to pick up the unit and check it out. I am not willing to pay them $70.00 for them to pick up the unit and then tell me they cannot repair it because they cannot obtain a replacement compressor fan. I could tell from the conversation that she had little or no interest in helping me with my problem. read more
