We went here based on a reference from my neighbor, hearing that they had great variety at a very competitive price compared to the other landscape places further down Jackson Rd. They give you a price sheet when you walk in, and are very helpful in directing you with what you're looking for. The layout of the products is very organized and it is easy to identify what you are looking at based on the price list. The rocks we ended up buying were so pretty, and exactly what we wanted. They offered delivery within a week to our driveway, and they even asked what side of the driveway we wanted the pallets placed. Cascade Rock really failed us and failed our landscaper. We had over 8 cubic yards of slate chips delivered, over $1,000 worth of material. I asked them to dump it away from my car parked in the driveway. Instead the driver dumped the load right behind my car. When we looked at the material we were angry, it was covered with a thick coating of wet slate dust. It all needed to be washed off before installing. Our landscaper had to bring in an extra crew member to do that and over 900 gallons of water was used to wash much, but not all of the wet dust away. To add insult to injury, the city saw all the sludge remaining in the gutter and will penalize us if it is not removed within three days. Our landscaper has used slate chips from Cascade Rock before but had never received such poor quality. He said it probably all came from the bottom of the pile. We now have to get our landscaper back to clean up the gutter and hope we don't get fined by the city. This costly purchase from Cascade Rock has come with hundreds of dollars of additional cost (extra crew for a day, extra water usage, extra crew to clean the sludge) Very very disappointed. read more

I showed up to this establishment to shop for decorative rocks. Initially was looking for Sonoma gold but fell in love with Yellowstone gold. It's much more pricey. It's great rock, very clean and good quality. They also delivered about 2 days out for a fee. Overall satisfied with my purchase. My husband and I came to Cascade Rock looking for well, rock! We were redoing a front planter that divided our front yard from our neighbors, and decided to support a local business. After picking out our rock, we had to go home to remeasure and call in our order (my husband's fault for not measuring ahead of time). Since our order was super local and small enough, they managed to deliver it within two days. The rock looked a little bit lighter in color than I had initially thought we selected but overall, I am happy with the appearance. Unfortunately, we have way too much rock, even though we provided them with the exact measurement and depth - so we will have to figure out something to do with all of our spare rock. We just purchased landscape boulders and also had bark delivered by CR. It was my first experience with this business, and I was impressed. Everyone (we interacted with about 5 staff) was super friendly, helpful, and patient while we selected our rock. We actually had a lot of fun in the process, thanks to the employees. We elected to pay to have our boulders placed in our landscape, which cost an extra $200. It was so worth it ! Charlie was super expert with his big forklift, and took great care to get each boulder placed just how we wanted it. He was very patient and focused on getting the rock located & oriented, working until we were happy. Oh, and he had the same fun attitude as the rest of the staff. I've used Cascade Rock annually for several years, not only for the various projects I captain for nonprofit organizations I'm involved with but also for my own home. When it came time for me to upgrade to new landscape bark in my front yard, I opted for the more efficient rubber mulch. I called several places and Cascade, yet again, had the best price and selection for the bulk amount I needed to get my project done. Whether it's in person at their supply yard or over the phone ordering, I have never had less than a five star experience with these guys. That also goes for their delivery service. I'm never wondering if my order is going to show up on time- they are incredibly reliable and will even call me when they are within a 30 minute window. I also appreciate the help I've received in estimating quantity for my various projects. They know their materials well and are always able to help me work within a nonprofit's budget. WIth COVID, definitely jumped on the bandwagon of gardening. I needed compost to amend my clay soil. Called around and Cascade Rock had a great rate because they do free delivery with more than 5cy of delivery. I ordered organic compost for $32 /yard. The materials look good, dark with very little visible contamination. The delivery guy came on schedule and dumped it on the street, per my direction. Note: they can only dump it from the truck so make sure to have a clear designated area on your driveway or street Overall, happy with my compost and excited to start my home garden! read more

Cascade Rock was not the biggest or most comprehensive place we came across in terms of landscaping materials, but they have some of the best and the customer service was top notch. I would recommend them to anyone looking for anything from pavers to mulch. We located the mulch we needed and set up an affordable delivery for a morning the following weekend, which they followed through on. The gentleman who helped us was very nice and welcoming - a big change from the stone faced grumps we usually find at places like this. I was excited when I spoke to the gentleman on the phone to order my rock for our new project. I asked him specifically if they could have the truck dump it on the weed barrier. He said it shouldn't be a problem. When the driver arrived, my granddaughter asked him to please dump it on the barrier and he said he couldn't do it. He said he had to dump me in the street which was about 2 feet from the barrier. Now we're going to have to move 4 yards of gravel from the street to the weed barrier. Went to Cascade Rock on 4/23/2022 looking for rock to build a Japanese garden. I had no idea what kind of rocks I needed until Gus, forklift diver, showed up. He asked me what my project was and offered assistance on what he thought I would need. I ended up buying beautiful moss rocks, now complementing my wife's garden. Need Rocks? Its not rock and roll but if you have it delivered I guess you can call that ROCK-N-ROLL. Actually if you take it with you then it is Rock-N-Roll! I had rocks delivered to my house well actually its not my house but I call it my house even if it's not my house. Anyway the rocks..... Had red lava rocks delivered in the driveway and manually took them one rock at a time. (in my dreams) So I used a wheelbarrow to take into the back yard that's not mine but I call it my back yard. So after about 3 hours due to union breaks mandated by my imaginary friends and listening to the voices in my head I finally finished. I must say what ever yard covering you may need or want you should be able to find it here. In the office you can see jars that display some of the coverings they have. I had to have it delivered due to the amount. My delivery was quick and I was not waiting all day. Then a week later had other rocks delivered for my front yard that's again not mine but I call it mine and I guess for all purposes (pizza sounds good tonight for dinner....) its mine or will be if COVID-19 goes away. But seriously check them out or don't. But if you don't the voices you hear in your head may be mine...... LOL! So go or don't but if you do the counter guy's can give you a hand figuring out what you can do and how mush material you need. read more

I ordered rock and soil in February of this year and while the ordering and delivery process was just fine. I was so disappointed in the quality of the planting soil. Despite amending it with compost, my entire vegetable garden was ruined this year. This was a huge disapointed as I had spent so many hours and thousands of dollars preparing my garden. When I called Cascade to tell them about how bad the soil was, they suggested I bring in the soil to have it tested and that they would supply me with some compost. When I arrived, none of the staff was wearing masks (despite the recent rise in cases in Sacramento) and then implied that I must have misunderstood the conversation with their staff as they did not test soil (they did give me a few bags of compost). I don't generally write reviews but was just so disappointed in the service and quality of soil that I wanted to post this so the same thing doesn't happen to others. As a note, since this experience I've mentioned it to a few friends who said that they had the same problems with Cascade's soil. read more

I purchased 6 yards of garden soil consisting of 2 yards each of planter's mix, mushroom compost, and organic compost. When I ordered the soil by phone I had asked if this combination would work well for a garden since I intended to start one this year and I was told that it should work fine. When the soil arrived I was disappointed that the delivery person wouldn't unload it approx 40-ft down my driveway since my neighbor's tree had a few thin branches with leaves overhanging that the driver was concerned would scratch the top of their truck. The soil was instead dumped at the entrance of my driveway. Once delivered the driver left without providing any documentation or receipt? I previously provided my credit card so the only record I had of the purchase was from the posting through my bank. There was no follow up email, invoice, or other record of payment. As for the soil, it was mostly okay. There were some small to medium sized rocks, some string, and a bit of plastic, yet all in all I was satisfied with it. The part of the soil that concerned me though was the large quantity of horse manure "apples" throughout. I don't know soil well, but from what I've read online once composted manure should look just like soil and not have the fresh manure smell, which our "soil" did; this was a concern since uncomposted manure can contain harmful bacteria. I emailed Cascade Rock and asked them to let me know what their composting process was to ensure that it was safe for the garden use, and two weeks later I have yet to receive a response? The picture I've included shows some of the apples still present, which is from the soil that has been moved and hosed down daily for 2-weeks. As for the price, it was certainly reasonable enough, which I expect is possible do to the large amount of manure present. Shipping was also included in the price which was certainly nice. I do wish there website was more informative -- it doesn't include any description or components that make up a soil type, and their web photos are not in any way representative of what I received. I suppose the lack of information allows Cascade Rock to provide whatever they want. It's basically a soil grab bag. As for us, we purchased worms to complete the composting process, and will not be using the manure soil this year for any root veggies. read more

I Have a construction company and needed some black rock for landscaping. I usually buy my rock up in the foothills but decided to try Cascade rock near Sacramento. I go into the office on a Friday morning and look at all the samples they have of rock. They offered me a sample of two types of rock I was interested in. One polished ( more expensive ) and one not polished and range from 1/2 inch to 1 inch. I took them both with me and after looking at my project decided the 1/2 inch to 1 inch unpolished rock would do. I went back around 4 pm (they close at 4:30) I bought the rock along with some other things. When they went to put the bags of rock into my car I asked what it was. They said it was the 1/2-1 inch rock. I said no, that was not the right rock. This rock was 2-3 inches and was just river rock. I walked over to the bag the sample came from and said to the worker, this is what I bought. But there were no bags of this rock so they needed to bag it. I said I don't need it until tomorrow so I will pick it up then. But with all the other things I bought I decided it would be better to have it delivered. I went back into the office and asked about delivery. They said it would be $50 to deliver. I paid for delivery. They come the next day to deliver and the rock is nothing like the rock that was picked out and suppose to be bagged. The rock they delivered was much bigger and was mostly river rock, not the black beach rock I paid for. It was a less expensive mix of rock and was not right for my project. They refused to come back and pick up the rock to give me a refund. It was their mistake (or maybe they did it intentionally) they should come back and pick it up. The project is less than 8 miles away from them. I will never use them again. read more

Knowing absolutely nothing about landscaping or doing any handy man stuff I was happy I can across this place because shit, I did not know it cost that much for rocks. The staff was able to tell me exactly how much rocks I needed, and looking at their pricing and other places they were competitive and reasonable. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. They have a great many assortment of rocks and bark, more then I've seen at the other surrounding vendors. Best dark rich compost ever. Get the planter mix for a new garden. It is a mixture of compost and top soil.

I would give 0 if I could. I called and asked about rubber mulch I was told they have one half yard so we drive to go pick it up. I was charged the minute we arrived (before verifying they still had) the guy says drive into the yard to pick it up. We dive over the guys then get this plastic bag and say you need how much.. my fiancé then says we need 1/2 he says there's no way this isn't even 100 lbs worth hey I'll give it to you go into office for refund. We drive back over to the office the "owner" says no it isn't free I'll give you a discount. He then refunds me $38 off the $135 ridiculous knowing that this product is now discontinued, and they basically gave us the junk. They had left to get rid of it. I wasn't going to do anything about this but now that I've thought about it I'm upset. I called them today got who I think if owner he wasn't apologizing for our wasted time and effort for their lack of communication within cascade rock. I told him this does me no good for the project we had invested time and effort into. He tells me to bring it back I then say yes we will and want compensation for our time and gas he says yeah and hangs up... moral of the story don't do BUSINESS with this crook!
