When I called and asked to verify my order, they did, and when I asked for a copy of the invoice they claimed they had a computer error... We were so happy with the performance of the wood when we got to our campsite. Get here early! Which is not really part of my vocabulary but needless to say I arrived here early and I'm glad I did as they plan to close for the first 3 days of the new year. There was only one small SUV in front of me when I rolled up in my pickup truck. The clerk was outside the office directing the flow of traffic and she hand signaled for me to pull up and select the type of wood and amount I wanted. They take cash, credit cards, and Apple Pay, which is most convenient. I'd love to be able to give a great review but was left pretty underwhelmed with my purchase today :( For background, I'm a pretty avid firewood burner (for Sacramento anyways) and usually burn only Oak that I cut and split myself. So what I'm used to is definitely 5-star material! I stopped by today since I wanted to pick up a small amount since my supply is getting low and just wanted to pick up a little to get by for the year. I asked what I could get for $100 CASH, and was offered a "mixed hardwood" rack that was 1/6 cord (4ft x 4ft, app 16"). I helped load what I bought so I knew it wasn't great... but upon stacking it at home it was mostly garbage! - 1st off: Any "hardwood mix" CAN'T HAVE PINE! Pine's horrible for anything but any open campfire. Nobody want's it! It's JUNK! What I got had maybe 10-20% pine! - 2nd off: 24"-30" long logs aren't firewood! Again, for a campfire is fine but not a fireplace! I had to cut down probably 20 pieces that were longer than 18". -3rd: If you're selling firewood in January FOR TOP DOLLAR, it's got to be kept covered and DRY! What I got was obviously not. SUMMARY: I paid $100 CASH for 1/6 cord (ie. $600 a Cord total) for what was basically CAMPFIRE wood that should have been $20 bucks! If you want a reputation for cheap wood then sell it cheap! Otherwise you're going to get a 2-star review from what could be good customers... read more

Pak & Save is your lifesaver when it comes to cheap firewood in bulk in Sacramento. There is no place other like it that is closer, so certainly consider them for all your tinder needs. What I like most is how no-nonsense and tripped down the place is. It's basically an old house of Highway 16 with a tiny office and, you guessed it, a giant yard full of piles and piles of well-seasoned wood. The gentleman who helped me was nice and gave me extra at no cost on top of the firewood cords I was purchasing for a camping trip. We ran out of wood near the end of our trip and resorted to buying far more expensive wood from the camp office. It didn't burn nearly as long or as well as what we got from Pak & Save. I ordered a 1/2 cord of OAK to be delivered. They arrived late and dumped in the driveway. When I began to stack the wood it was obviously a mixed bag of junk wood. There was SOME oak. It definitely was not all oak. There was bark I identified as some species of PINE WOOD, from the summers I spent in the woods cutting firewood for grandma. Looked to be also a mix of walnut and almond. Not happy with the overall quality. I have since ordered another 1/2 cord from another supplier. Too bad. Replying to their reply...I didn't order during the storm I ordered in august or September. With the mixed bag I got I'd hate to see what those who ordered during the storms got. SITREP Helped my neighbor Al get another cord of wood for his wood-burning stove which also heats his home (especially on an uncharacteristically cold, wet, STORMY day like today in Sacramento). SET-UP Pak & Save is just off of Folsom Blvd where Jackson Road intersects and these gents have a lot of wood available for local area residents who need it for their wood burning furnaces and stoves. Since this is pretty much a ONE-ITEM (a few if you count the different KINDS of wood, but that's splitting hairs), and a simple operation, they do their best to keep costs as cheap as possible. $40-$60 gets you a lot of wood. OTHER REVIEWERS I don't understand the other reviewers who give such negative reviews because they don't take credit cards and because they were closed, self-admittedly after they were there after closing hours(?) And then to skew their reviews to one-star because they are having an online hissy fit? Pretty pathetic Yelpers with no sense of business ethics for themselves. Simply put, these guys are the best! I'm actually shocked I haven't written a review for them already, because I've been getting wood from them for 8-10 years now. The prices are always very reasonable, and they'll load up the wood for you into your truck or whatever you are taking it away in. In the past I would say "no, it's ok, I can load it myself" and they would totally help anyways. (Not in a pushy way.) This place is awesome! I smoke a lot of beef, and was looking for a good supplier of oak. My fans (aka friends and family) love the flavor it produces (SPGO is all I season with)! They have a good variety of wood, and have a few extra if you ask. Cherry will be my next adventure for my pork. Javier, the manager, is genuinely nice. I would recommend this place to anyone! As a side note, the road is small, but busy area. If you could come from the east heading west, you'll be on the same side as the business.
