Two weeks later, on 5/18, the air conditioning stopped working. They market themselves as 24-hour, so I called 5 times that evening. They have a system for screening their calls. I communicated several times that this was an urgent concern, as I have 5 pets who would be intolerant of the 100-degree heat forecast for the following day. Even after dark, my house was 85 degrees. After those calls, I received no calls back. The next morning, on 5/19, I scheduled a morning appointment with Greenfox and then chatted with them via their chat system. The person on the chat assured me that this was a concern. They reported that they marked my appointment as urgent and would register a complaint with the company on my behalf. They assured me that the tech would leave and arrive at my house by 8am. 8am came and went with no call or contact from Greenfox. I logged on to the chat again and spoke with another agent and recounted everything that had happened previously. They said they could do nothing but make appointments on the chat. I said that I did that morning and was told the appointment would be around 8. They said I would have to call the office. I told them that I already had 5 times, and I received no return call. The chat said there was nothing they could do. I then spent time I could have been working calling other companies to try to get service, as the house was getting close to 80 degrees at 9:30 AM. A tech from Greenfox eventually arrived at around 11:15. The company never called me back at all; they didn't let me know he was coming. I received an automated text that the tech was coming 15 minutes after he arrived. He found the issue, which should have been discovered two weeks earlier at the servicing appointment. The tech then left, saying, "I'll send you the invoice." No discussion. The tech then charged us $245 for a problem that should have been caught during the initial service we already paid for. Getting an annual service from this company is useless. It appears they didn't thoroughly review for potential issues, which has left my AC not working on the hottest days of the year so far. There was no consideration on the second bill for the poor work of the technician who came out to service. They don't answer phone calls. They don't call anyone back. They don't let you know a tech is coming. Their chat responses are, at minimum, disingenuous and, at worst, outright lies. And then they still charge you double, even though it was their error. There are far better and more reliable companies in the area, with whom I will be contracting going forward.

The technician spent over an hour documenting the system and doing maintenance tasks. The documentation took a lot of the time since he took photos of every part so the next visit the state can be compared. When he went to replace my humidifier pad, he even suggested I save money by buying them on my own and just keeping them near by. I ended up paying the premium and he left the box so I could find replacements more easily. It's great to not only switch from private equity to a locally (Columbia based) owned company, but to get better service at a better cost to boot.

After spending a few hours trying to figure it out, they said the problem was that different parts of the system were not compatible. They recommended replacing the whole HVAC system including the heater ($6500) or at least the coils ($2000). I trusted other reviews here and I have never been so disappointed with a service provider in my…read morelife. Carlos overcharged me, was non responsive, inaccurate and didn't solve my problem. His lack of knowledge caused me to loose a lot of money, a lot of time and in the end my hvac has exactly the same issues it had before I called Carlos. STAY AWAY! If you want details let me give you some: Carlos said he believed freon would solve my weak HVAC system. According to him adding a 1 to 3 pounds of freon should solve it, and it would cost between $100-$300. When he was finished, according to him, he added 7 pounds(!!) and it would cost me $650 (!!!) with a nice discount he was giving me (what?). I pushed back but he wouldn't leave unless I agreed to it. I gave him a check for the $650 and at least thought my issues were solved. One month later I noticed that the HVAC was taking too long to start and that the compressor wasn't able to kick in. I wrote to Carlos who came by and said THERE WAS TOO MUCH Freon in my HVAC (!)... He than released freon in the air while using a broken equipment. I asked him not to take out more than needed given I paid so much for it. The next day I noticed the Hvac was kicking in a little quicker but the compressor was still trying 10-20 times to kick in before it did. I was afraid it could damage my hvac and wrote to him. He became non responsive, when he spoke with me on the phone he was upset saying I wasn't letting him work when I asked him not to release more freon than needed(?). He started to schedule visits and not show up on the agreed time, or call me 2 minutes before he was at my door at a completely different time from the agreed. It took 20 days for him to show up again (this is the peak of the summer) and he released most of the freon in my hvac's system... result? it doesn't cool down anymore. I kept being very polite and friendly throughout the entire process, trusting his skills and that in the end it would be solved. During his last visit I noticed the tubes outside weren't cooling as much but he said that was typical of my HVAC brand and that it doesn't require too much freon... he didn't seem to think that when he charged me $650 in freon. He said it would work well although the tubes didn't cool down a lot... it doesn't cool down anymore. I'm sure there is an amount of freon where the air conditioner can work without stopping the compressor and still cool down the apartment. It's an absurd the kind of excuses he gave me. In summary. My air conditioning works poorly (as it did before I called Carlos). I spent $650, spent my summer sweating and spend a few afternoons running home to wait for a service provider who didn't show up. Of course I wrote to him saying the above and he never replied, so be careful and stay way! His lack of knowledge (or fairness) will cause you a lot of trouble.

Other companies were charging the same just to send a technician out to diagnose. I'm thankful I have found an honest abs reliable company to service my old chiller units.
