Okay, this place is perfect for a date night or a girls' night. I went with one of my girlfriends and we were literally the only non-couple there but honestly, it still worked. The vibe is very intentional and intimate. I originally booked a guided tasting on a weekday, but due to a booking error on OpenTable, the owner personally reached out to apologize and asked if we could reschedule. He was very polite and genuinely apologetic, so I wasn't too bummed about it. We Ubered to CASE on a Saturday night to avoid parking issues. There isn't much easy parking nearby, so I'd recommend doing the same. Since it's a speakeasy, when you arrive you wait behind a bookshelf. It does get a little cramped with everyone waiting for their seating assignments, but we were too excited to care. Before being seated, the host asks whether you prefer sweet or smoky- answer carefully because that choice determines the flavor profile of both your drinks and chocolates throughout the experience. Once seated, you're brought into a dimly lit room that really sets the mood. The gentleman guiding us through the courses spoke in a low, calm tone that perfectly matched the energy of the space. Some courses included plated elements beyond just chocolate, and those were fantastic. Most of the chocolates are filled with liquid, so make sure to eat them in one bite. They warn you for the first one, but honestly, keep that in mind for all of them. When we received the check, it was incorrect. The waitstaff quickly fixed it, but then it was wrong again. By the third attempt, I didn't fully review it because I was enjoying the vibe and was honestly over it, so I paid. That said, the total was definitely higher than what's displayed on OpenTable- more than just taxes, so be prepared for that.

I arrived at case chocolates with a party of 12 in total. We had made a reservation for the chocolate tasting at 10pm and they were able to seat us until 1045pm. The restaurant has a tiny front area for check in, and then the restaurant seating is behind a hidden bookshelf. So, when waiting, we had to wait outside on the curb because there were already two people in the chairs waiting inside. Case has an interesting concept where they pair their cocktails with two liquor filled chocolates. I was initially very excited but waiting on the curb for 45 minutes kind of ruined the vibe. They did provide each of us with a free drink once we got seated to compensate us for waiting, but then we didn't even get offered the tasting experience we booked for! Then it was just us ordering drink by drink. The drinks were good but I found the chocolates completely unnecessary. I would've rather had a nice cocktail with a nice bonbon rather than a bonbon stuffed with liquor. I might've felt differently if I'd have gotten the full experience we booked for without waiting at all, but I will say I probably will never come back and I wouldn't recommend you go either.

As CASE offers a very unique opportunity, I've visited for both a date night and also hosted a small company networking event here. The room is capped at 20 people, so reservations are a must. I love the speakeasy vibes and the very elegant aesthetic once behind the bookshelves. I also suggest getting there early so you're not sitting by the large door (you'll have to move a few times during the experience if so). During the experience, you're given a welcome cocktail with a bit of snack mix, the opportunity to choose the next two rounds (between two cocktails) and then the experience finishes with a dessert wine option. I like that one of the owners speaks to the pairings and creation of the chocolate/cocktail combination as well so there is a bit of learning involved. The drinks are strong and even stronger when paired with the alcohol chocolates so I would highly suggest ubering. While not all of the cocktails or chocolates were my absolute favorite, I enjoyed the ambiance, the kind staff and the overall experience! I would go back for the next time they change the menu - a fun experience!

My friend that this would be a great place to try after dinner for "She-Time." I have to admit I was a little skeptical while driving, as I've never been to this part of Houston. I'm glad I decided to "Trust the Process." When I arrived I drove around for parking and later decided to valet at a restaurant close by for $10 (they close at midnight just FYI). When you walk in the area is small and you see a book shelf, then she opens it to let you walk into the speakeasy. It's small, so make sure to make reservations. They were doing the tastings where you get to learn about the history of the business and the chocolate, all while sampling curated cocktails and its chocolate companions. You can also just order separate drinks from the menu. Each drink is paired with two chocolates. Prices are reasonable and it wasn't too noisy, so we were able to sit and have great conversation with one another. Also, our waitress was cool as hell. Enter freely, they've been approved

Wow! What an incredible spot for a date night. Cozy and intimate with a super fun concept. Opening hour drinks were great and the chocolate was exceptional - so fun to have the liquid interior go so perfectly with the drink you order. Service was great too, felt like they truly cared that we were having a good time. I would love to come back for another special occasion!!

I learned about this place through IG. I've been to the store front a few times and sampled the chocolates, which were all delicious! Imagine my excitement when I found out a friend made reservations for our birthday. We walked in, were instantly greeted and walked to our table. The ambiance was great: the lighting, the bar, the chairs, all of us. We then received a drink to clear our palette between drinks, some table snacks and chocolates. Then it was time to taste! We chose our drinks and the fun began. The chocolates were so good and the drinks were just as delicious. My favorite was the dessert wine at the end. I can't wait to go back. Definitely recommend to locals and tourists.

We came to CASE in October for my partner's birthday. We went on a Thursday evening and it was absolutely empty except for us which was SO cool. We loved the quiet intimate vibe. We got such great 1:1 time with the owner who took us through each drink and chocolate/tasting. I don't want to spoil it for everyone, so I just shared one photo. But we highly recommend the sweet journey! We will definitely be back to try all the other journeys/menus!

Welcome to the Case Club, I was invited to a private tasting at Case Chocolates last night. I was so excited to try out the new menu they have for this season as I have grown to enjoy the experience. This upcoming season will include a new concept of bringing the experience option to the weekends and opening throughout the week in a speakeasy type setting. So no need to make a reservation you will be able to come in and get a nice cocktail and chocolate pairing without having to sit for the entire 2 hour production. I like that as some people may not have the time available or don't want to commit to that during the weeknights. At this time I don't have prices to shares but the experience over all is $69 per person.

One of a kind experience, such an exclusive sensual atmosphere. I sat at the bar and had an extraordinary time trying the different drinks and sweets. Not a huge chocolate fan but still thoroughly enjoyed learning while indulging. Great service from start to finish

We finally came here for the tasting! When you first arrive, you need to wait at the front until it is time. Then they open the wall to let people in. There are three drinks and several chocolates that go well with the drinks. An extra cup for water and an extra drink for palate cleansing. However. Please be patience and wait for the manager to provide content regarding the history, value, and interesting to know facts. And what order to eat them!!! Case is known for their liquid filled chocolates. You cannot bite half and give the other half to someone. The filling will spill out. The chocolates are amazing well made and you can taste the "casing" within the chocolate that holds the liquid. It's a really nice crunchy texture coated by a creamy chocolate. They do not have mocktails. But they do have non alcoholic chocolates which are also very amazing. The service was great and on point. The decor really sets a speakeasy mood and it is easy to hear each other at your table. Parking is valet or free street parking.

    Cheers to a great night!

I recently celebrated a friend's birthday at Case Chocolates, a unique speakeasy in Houston's Second Ward. Entering through an unassuming door felt like stepping into a real-life Honeydukes--a dream come true for this Harry Potter fan. I arrived at 8:00 PM for our 8:15 PM reservation but found the door unattended and my calls unanswered, leading to an unnerving 10-minute wait on the sidewalk. However, once inside, the host more than made up for it by offering delightful samples of Bananas Foster and Mango Chamoy chocolates--amazing teasers for the three courses to come! Before our tasting officially began, we were given a refreshing palate-cleansing drink, which set the stage for the decadent experience ahead. The intimate, dimly lit setting was perfect for our group. Our host guided us through a three-course chocolate journey, each paired with a boozy selection ranging from mezcal to vodka to cognac. The chocolatier was incredibly informative, breaking down the origins of each chocolate and explaining how its environment--soil, climate, and processing--impacted the flavor and aroma. Formerly, I taught high school World History & Geography, so it was fascinating to learn how much geography plays a role in what we tasted! At the start of our courses, we were given the signature "Wizard" chocolates--red, blue, and gold "galleons"--and instructed to share them amongst ourselves. There were notes of hazelwood, almonds, cedar and sandalwood! Tell me that isn't Wizarding World wandlore coded! Each chocolate was rich, decadent, and perfectly balanced with the complementary cocktail pairings. Every single selection on the menu was a favorite at our table! At $87 per person (including tax & gratuity), the experience was well worth it. However, our waiter could have been more attentive with small details like replenishing water and providing straws, which make a difference in such an intimate setting. Standout moments: Even though I was early to the venue, our party of ten arrived at different times, with more than half running late. Despite this, the staff graciously accommodated us without any issues, ensuring our experience was seamless and enjoyable. This sort of top-notch customer service is GREATLY appreciated! To top it off, the chocolatier was incredibly kind, taking the time to capture group photos for us, making the evening even more memorable. Just a heads-up: don't arrive hungry, as the focus is on chocolate and cocktails. Also, the restrooms are a bit of a walk from the main area, so be mindful of how many crafted cocktails you order (I'm not sure if you can order extra, in addition to the three-course pairings). All in all, Case Chocolates offers a unique and magical experience that's perfect for special occasions. Plus, there's an overwhelming number of chocolate options you can take home with you--enough to make Mrs. Trunchbull jealous!

This is a really nice cocktail experience. I have a hard time calling this a speakeasy since it is a curated experience for a larger group where you sat with a lot of other people in presented to by the host. For me, a true speakeasy activity would be more curated to you and your other party members . That being said, the drinks were pretty good and the chocolate pairings with them were excellent . I would definitely recommend this experience to anybody interested in unique food and drink pairings. I was extremely surprised by how much I liked the pure alcohol filled chocolates over the cocktail filled chocolates. Worth a visit for a date or a unique experience with some close friends

I made a reservation for Case Chocolates after reading wonderful Yelp reviews! I made the reservation about a week in advance and chose the 8:30 seating. Housekeeping: I opted to do ride-share but there is parking though it's limited (both street and a small adjacent lot). If you do the 8:30 seating, eat or go to dinner first, this is a perfect nightcap! Be mindful this is located in a neighborhood with trains, take routes that avoid them if possible. Case Chocolates is a true speakeasy vibe. It is intimate and quaint. Casey the owner is extremely knowledgeable and goes through tasting notes beautifully! Their menu is curated seasonally although there is one fan favorite that will never leave! Great experience and I'd return again! I wasn't sure how I'd like spirits + chocolate but it was great!

Service: not great, we had a manager start off as our server but she was awkward in a "not socially aware" way (ex. she kept saying our server had to use the bathroom, even when our server came to the the table and looked so embarrassed; she also told me my non-alcoholic drink order would not taste good without knowing it's what I drink at home), rushed us (every time she said she would give us a moment she'd come RIGHT back to the table within seconds) Our actual server started off rocky as well, perhaps wasn't having a good day and she was visibly annoyed with the manager. She was short and blank with us until she realized we're very nice lol and by the end, her tone and energy had completely shifted for the better. The foreign object: about 2/3 of the way through the meal, I bit into a small piece of blue plastic. Did not know if it was in the fish or the mac and cheese, but I was devastated because I was almost finished eating but couldn't due to paranoia. Our server handled it swiftly and the manager came and let us know it was take off the bill and offered free dessert. Overall, not bad and the food was good enough to where I would go back and give them another try in the future.

There was plenty of seating available around the pool and in grassy shaded areas away from the pool. Bathrooms and showers were also accessible if you wanted to change clothes. One suggestion I would make is to have a more diverse music playlist. While the venue advertised that pop music would be played, it didn't always match the preferences of everyone there, especially given the diverse group of guests in attendance. Also, make sure to bring your ID; otherwise, you won't be allowed in. I had to make a trip back home to retrieve mine, even with a valid photo ID. If anyone managed to get in without an ID, please comment below and let me know! Overall, I would recommend this club.
