Italian sandwich with focaccia bread
Masha K.

We came here on a hot Friday afternoon in Madison and the line out the door was worth the wait! I loved how fresh all the ingredients tasted, and especially how fresh the bread was. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a very cute vibe inside with a rustic, yet modern café feel to it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was also great and timely, especially considering they were so busy at peak lunch hour. Will return here next time I'm in Madison!

Incredible sandwich spot in DT Madison. Was in town for a day trip and was a perfect spot to stop. Don't be intimidated by the line they work through it quickly - either way this place is worth it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ample indoor and outdoor seating - relaxed vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Italian sandwich on focaccia was an incredible sandwich, plenty of meat, soft bread. Would highly recommend!

If you're on the hunt for the best sandwich in town, look no further. This hidden gem blew my expectations out of the water!

Stopped by here for lunch on a weekday. I ordered the Paradigm sandwich. The flavor of the sandwich fillings were really good, especially on the marinated bell peppers inside. The sandwich had a good variety of textures throughout - my only wish was that the focaccia was also toasted. I think that would complement the sandwich textures even more. The coveted chocolate chip is *that* good. Thin, crispy edges, chewy center with flat chocolate wafer chips. The salt on top was a wonderful contrast to the sweet chocolate. You also can't beat the price of $2.25 for a good cookie. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My only other complaint would be the limited seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The workers here also try to provide table service and bring your sandwich out to you if you do dine-in. However, there isn't a system for them to find you at the table easily and they are just wandering around looking for you by name. Having a little table # placard would benefit the staff here.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We went to Casetta on a weekday afternoon, and it was super busy and packed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered the Paradigm on focaccia, along with the chocolate chip cookie, which we received right after we finished ordering. I just want to say that this chocolate chip cookie is definitely in my top 10 cookies of all time. I loved that the chocolate chips were in wafer form, which allowed an even distribution of chocolate flavor throughout the cookie. The sea salt on top was a nice touch as well. It was also only $2.25! There is a bit of a wait for the sandwich and it might be hard to find seating, but the wait was bearable with the cookie. I will suggest that a numbering system might be easier, because we were a bit concerned on how they were going to find us, but it worked out in the end as they call out your name for the order. They also have a nice system of a "clean/dirty" sign on the tables, and the staff who helped us wipe the table and handed us our order was very nice about it. The paradigm sandwich was delicious, especially the roasted peppers, which added a nice flavor. I do wish the bread was toasted, however, but on its own, the bread was yummy as is. I can definitely see myself coming back to try their other sandwiches (and get the cookie again) if I am in the area.

BABY!! Gluten free focaccia with turkey, ham, mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and the Dijon vin

Gluten free focaccia of my dreams Casetta hit it out of the park. Would recommend or suggest EVERY time someone asks for a sandwich place. Only downside is they aren't open on the weekends

I don't often get to Madison, but a a day I was working out of our downtown Madison office, a co-worked suggested we wander over to Casetta for lunch. It was a hot, sticky summer day, so a cold sandwich sounded great. I was stunned to see they line they had in their lobby upon arrive and know instantly we'd found a local favorite. Their menu is not extensive, but everything on it is of high quality and interesting pairings. They go beyond the basic club and turkey sandwich, with options that include prosciutto and spicy peppers, various sauces and the freshest bread. I stuck with my usual turkey...but theirs had pickles and a green sauce on it that made it next level. It was a massive sandwich, on soft, flavorful focaccia bread and I'm instantly obsessed. There was a little wait, to the point they can't take same day online orders, but it was well worth it. I have been back at least once more since and tried the Fried Green Tomato special, which was also killer. Love this place and cannot wait to try more from them in the future!

Great first experience! As others have said, the line can be long and you might need to wait for a table if dining in, but it is worth it. We tried the Monday special meatball sandwich, the turkey, and a make your own. The focaccia was incredible. Soft, fresh, flavorful, probably the best I've had. [[HIGHLIGHT]]You don't go here for the ambiance, but the service was great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They were very friendly and clearly working hard to get a lot of sandwiches out the door quickly. And the cookies are just as good as everyone says! I'm glad they still had some.

Casetta is well worth the wait. I was so excited and intrigued by the menu I had to get 2 sandwiches. I ordered the Hoboken and the Chicken cutlet on focaccia. Both were incredible. The Hoboken had perfect ratio of meat, bread, and hot peppers. I might think of the chicken cutlet for weeks. All ingredients were noticeably fresh. The juicy fried cutlet was perfectly paired with a delicious pesto that was sandwich in their soft focaccia. Looking forward to having this again. Don't let the line scare you and go to Casetta Kitchen and Counter. (The line goes fast)

The Manzo
Ellie S.

When I say this is probably the best sandwich I've ever had...I mean it. I got the manzo- and I don't normally go for roast beef. This wasn't your average run of the mill deli meat. This was fresh, thick pieces of roast beef. The spicy pepper sauce on it was 10/10 - and the focaccia bread was the perfect choice. I had the chocolate chip cookie after and.....I'm drooling thinking about it. It almost tasted like a sugar cookie, but with chocolate chips. The sea salt flakes were the perfect touch. I will be back.

This place is popular for a reason! When we arrived at 11:30 am there was already a line out the door. It moved very fast and we ordered less than 10 minutes later. They have quite a few options to choose from as well as two bread choices. Ultimately I decided to go with the turkey, chips, and a Diet Coke. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were able to get a seat inside but most of the tables were filled.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We received our food within 5 minutes of sitting down and the server was so nice! This sandwich was gigantic! Definitely could split or make two meals out of it!! The bread was so fresh and overall it tasted fantastic. I would love to try a few different sandwich's as the menu has quite a few great choices. Go try if you haven't yet!!

I love myself a focaccia sandwich and this one did not disappoint. I ordered the Paradigm and would definitely get it again.

I kind of had higher expectations for the sub, but I felt like it was mostly just slightly better than average. There's also a big line, and they're only open during weird hours of the week. Personally not worth a revisit, I'd just go to Alimentari.

As a solo female diner, it's always intimidating to eat alone. When I arrived, I asked to sit at the bar, but saw free spots at the tables along the window. We'll I waited for a good 20 minutes without anyone checking on me before moving to the bar. The bar was really no better. Service was abysmal and the bartenders were not so friendly. The bar was also not well kept with glassware and napkins still in my space from the previous patron. I had to ask for water, napkin and utensils after my food came. I also had to ask for another drink, while the 2 girls next to me were attended to constantly. I ended up ordering the shrimp risotto and while tasty, it was too salty after a few bites. I'm giving 2 stars because they have a decent wine selection.

From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the host, who we later found out was a AG Manager Dillon. He immediately made us feel welcome. After we were seated, Dillon brought us water right away and let us know that our server, Kyle, was helping a few other tables but would be over shortly to take our drink order. We really appreciated the communication, as so many restaurants leave you wondering where your server is. We had seen the Date Night menu online, which included a choice of wine. Since we don't drink alcohol, we asked if we could substitute a pitcher of iced tea instead. Dillon was happy to make that happen, which was such a thoughtful touch. We also had a wonderful conversation with him while getting settled. Seems like he has a wonderful future ahead with schooling. Always wonderful to see kind and hardworking young matured adults. Kyle soon came by with our tea, introduced himself, and took exceptional care of us throughout the evening. He made sure we were comfortable, anticipated our needs, and even surprised us with extra desserts alongside our beignets to celebrate our anniversary. His hospitality was truly top notch, and he made our evening feel special. For dinner, we ordered the etouffe and the shrimp bbq dish, and both were absolutely delicious! There were so many other menu items that caught our eye, so we'll definitely be back to try more. What impressed us most was watching the team work together. It seemed like they might have been a little short staffed, with Dillon and Kyle constantly moving throughout the dining room alongside the bartenders and kitchen staff. Despite that, they never missed a moment. They were attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about every guest. We even overheard other tables complimenting the service and food they received. This was such a wonderful place to celebrate our anniversary. Merchant delivered outstanding service, incredible food, and genuine hospitality from start to finish. If you're looking for a restaurant with amazing food, exceptional service, and a great atmosphere, whether for dinner or drinks, Merchant is the place to go. We will be back for more soon!

They come with ranch and hot honey, and apparently they recently won best cheese curd at the cheese curd crawl. They were super tasty. Well seasoned, perfectly fried, and kind of chewy. I am not on the hot honey frenzy train, but I tried it and thought it paired well, just wasn't for me. The ranch was tasty though. Even the happy hour portion was hefty and I couldn't put down half. A couple of my friends opted for whiskey flights that they had been looking forward to sipping. And then a couple of us did the wine option. I didn't understand how it worked at first but it is very simple -- you get a little card to swipe at the wine machines and then you can choose whichever wine you want.
