Went to take my son for a much needed and much wanted haircut for his birthday coming up. I was calling around, to different places while driving in the AC of my car. We ended up in Monrovia from south El Monte. (Grew up in the Duarte area) Anyways as I'm searching on the maps and looking at the stars on businesses, I found Casey's barbershop with a higher start rating. I pass by see the sign "walk ins welcome" also it's cash only FYI. After walking in i see why you guys have a good rating. Right off the back the old school barbershop vibe was amazing. We had Gary help us out, he was finishing up a client, my son liked the guys cut and said that's what he wanted. Gary did exactly what he wanted, when i tell you the smile he had when he saw one side of his cut done already while Gary worked on the other side is worth it. My son had a bunch of hair on him he hates the short buzz cuts but really wanted a cool refreshing cut. Gary you'll be seeing more of Zeke he has named you the guy for his cuts now. read more

My son needed a haircut on a Sunday but our regular barber is closed Sunday's as is the case for many so I was beginning to give up hope until I found Casey's online. It was a little before 1:00 and the website and Google had him listed as being open until 3:00 on Sunday! Great! It was a little farther than I wanted to drive but he really needed a haircut so we made the drive. We arrived around 1:20 pm, had to park kind of far and walk up. To which we found a locked door and empty shop. No one there, no note on the door saying out to lunch or closed early for emergency, nothing just locked up tight over an hour and a half before they were supposed to close. So I drove almost an hour round trip for nothing. If the shop owner reads this please update your hours online. If you are going to close early on Sundays then reflect that online so that potential patrons aren't inconvenienced. read more

We're new to the city of Monrovia and I was in the search for a barbershop - so I googled the top 10 barbershops in Monrovia and Casey's Barbershop was rated #1 - based on them being #1, I decided to give them a phone call this afternoon to find out if they accepted Apple Pay, the gentleman that answered the phone, close to 5:00 pm, was the most rudest he could possibly be - he said no they don't accept Apple Pay, cash only, $40.00 - I tried to say thank you before I even could, he had already hung up the phone on me - Unfortunately, I did not get his name but, if he's not the owner, the owner can most likely figure out who this gentleman is by simply letting them know this phone call took place close to 5:00 pm Due to this person's rudeness, I decided not to give them my business - customer service is very essential to me and he definitely lacks that - At this point it is meaningless if this barbershop ranks in first place, customer service stinks - And btw, they don't even deserve a one star but, I couldn't complete this review without at least giving them a one star unfortunately - read more

Took my son in and he received the worst haircut of his life. It was uneven and cut super short in the front. I've never cut hair and if I did it would've looked better than this. CASEY IS THE MAN! Support your local business! After frequenting places like Supercuts and Fantastic Sams, they never got it right. I decided enough is enough and paid a visit to my local barbershop. The ambience is amazing! A very retro, old school feel with good tunes. I called in the morning and set my appointment for 4pm. I got there on time with Casey ready for me. He's a magician with his clippers and gave me a nice skin fade with a little bit off the top. Went here for a quick haircut but I think I'll end up coming back quite permanently. Ryan took me in last minute and i really liked the end result they were able to do with my hair (just wish they could work the same magic with my face). All in all, these folks work clean and sanitary but most importantly with how I saw folks that walked in and came out and for how my haircuts always finish they are up a level in knowing how to style which is more than I can say for shops twice their price point which I used to frequent. read more

Casey, the owner, has been cutting my ex husband's hair for over a decade now. There's no one else we'd go to. Thirty dollars for a ten minute haircut on a head that is more than half bald...Well O.K. I tipped the barber as well.. I asked for a light trim and it turned out just o.k. The thing that bothers me is the lack of attention to detail. Older guys get hair growing out of the ears and neck and the eyebrows go crazy. I got home and in better light realized there are still wild hairs growing out of my ear lobes and back of my ears. For thirty bucks the barber shaould also have trimmed my eyebrows. I I realize there are different barbers at Casey's but if it's Casey's Place he needs to keep an eye on the barbers he rents his chairs to. The quality was not there. read more

I went to their old place on Myrtle by the Theater across from the Chinese restaurant that also disappeared. No longer there. Guy said "reservations only" had no idea who the hell he was. Anyway my wife found a place, took my stepson and myself to get a haircut and the entire gang moved over to Caseys. My stepson has Aspergers and decided to roam around in the bathroom for 30 minutes while he was waiting for me to get my cut, and they were very cool about it. Great old School Vibe, Just went today, FYI Cash only, as a Business owner myself credit cards charge 4% for every sale and it just doesn't make sense when every dollar counts. There's 3 bank ATM's within walking distance (Chase, BanoAmerika, and Citibank. Point is, if you're a Man, get a cut at the Barber, don't be heading to a stylist or you'll end up with a fluffy hair cut like that contestant on Jeopardy that looked like he scams people on timeshares. Went here for a few years. It's very close to my house, so I just kept going out of convenience even though the service was always mediocre at best. Multiple times, I would show up on time or even early to find that Casey had decided to try and squeeze in a walk-in Customer, and that I would have to " wait a bit" The final straw came today. I had a true family emergency and had to cancel my appointment, last second. I know how tough businesses like these are to run, so I zelle'd Casey full payment and tip as if I showed up and he did his job. He responded by telling me I can no longer make appointments until the morning of... after I paid him full cost plus tip for doing nothing. That is no way to run a business especially to a good customer who has been tipping well for years Don't go here unless you like dealing with big egos and paying with cash only lol read more

I've spent a long time trying to find a barber who was close to home, I was tired of driving 25 miles for a 'decent' cut. I was setup with Pep and man he had complete understanding of what kind of cut I wanted with minimal explanation, the man is experienced to say the least. Awesome little place tucked in the heart of Monrovia. On Myrtle so it was very easy to find. I've been looking for a new barber since my last barber moved and I found Casey's on YELP. I called and spoke with the man of the hour Casey booked an appointment for an hour later. So I show up, Casey is cool, the other guys are cool the shop has a few clients. I've been jumping from haircut place to haircut place for the past 9 years, probably similar to dating apps. Haircuts have been randomly good but never great. The wandering nomad days (for haircuts) are done, finally found a place to settle for a lifetime heh. The bros here are welcoming and I haven't had any disappointments from any haircut they give. I'm not very specific on my haircut, I just tell them make me look good and they damn well deliver every time. Just from my experience, if I come in randomly, I've been fortunate enough to be seated relatively quickly. The atmosphere/ambience has the old barber shop look and the music playlist is some awesome oldies, pre-Beatles, so I wanna say probably 1950s and earlier. Also I haven't wrote a Yelp review in like 3 years but hands down, I've had consistently good experiences from this place, so these dudes deserve the 5 stars! read more
