I stumbled upon this place randomly a while back while I was in the area, and decided to give it a try and was not disappointed. I have been getting a haircut here from Alfredo for a while now, and he always does an amazing job! All the other barbers here do a great job as well and also take their time and pay really close attention to detail - they aren't just trying to rush you out and get their next client in the chair. So after my old barber shop kept messing up my hair I finally decided to try The Upgrade..and I Never looked back I even bring my dad here whose 69 years old. I've been coming here for 3 years and have gone through about 5 different hairstyle and they always make any style look the Freshest. I always come out filling like a Million dollars. No matter what barber you get they are all Amazing. But my barber of choice is Ricky T. The vibe here is great!! always have the radio playing (anytime music) to having the TVs on you get to catch sports events or TV shows. The upgrade has been taking me for 2 years now and they have passion for what they do. Steve my barber has given me the sharpest haircuts I've ever had. I always get complimented when I get a fresh chop. I've been other places and there always seems to be an issue with attentiveness and skill. Steve is hands down the best barber I've ever had with the straight razor shave hot towel aftershave and on top of that is a really cool guy. I've been here once before and the haircut was clean. The barber took his time, he was texting and using his phone while in the middle of my haircut. Turned out nice tho. Came back today and there was only one barber. Had a seat and waited an hour before he finished up, when he was done he says " This guy is next he has an appointment". Are you serious?? If you know you have an appointment and no time. Say something!! I wasted my time here. This is my favorite barbershop. I get an amazing haircut as well as a good laugh here. These guys that work there are so funny and friendly. They are always cracking jokes, but they know how to back off if it's necessary. There are all types of people that come through here. Young guys, kids, old guys, it doesn't matter, they accommodate to everyone. I've gotten my haircut from Ricky T the past two times and he's great. Takes his time and always does an amazing job. I've also gotten haircuts from Brother Steve, Geo, and Jorge Avilla and they all cut hair exactly the same. As long as you know what you want they can do it. They are a great team of barbers and this is a great barbershop. Back in Seattle there was this elderly lady that spoke no English that used to cut my hair at the local Supercuts. She would consistently overuse the electric razor and slice a small hole in my ear, then try to be slick by taking a piece of tissue, wetting it, and pretending to wipe hairs off my head when in reality she was trying to stop the bleeding and hope I won't notice. After that I decided to go to man barbershops. I work in SEO/copywriting/online marketing, and it amazes me that people don't add their new and local businesses to Yelp on like day one. The big guy that cut my hair, who I will refer to as "Big Guy," asked me how I found them. I told him I found them because they were a block away. Then I told him he should add his business into Yelp, since it's really the easiest way to find anyone. Big Guy shrugged and laughed and said "yeah, I've heard" and didn't think much more of it. So I told him I'll enter it in myself as a favor, and that he should be prepared for the wave of customers that will flock to the shop as a result. So if you go because of this review, the first thing you should say is "I found this place on Yelp. You should thank that guy that entered you into Yelp with six cases of your finest mead." My hair is easy to cut, so I have no idea how one would vouch for his skill, but I think that Big Guy did a good job - he spent a long time on my hair, and was clearly careful to make sure every corner was cut perfect. He even used a straight edge razor at one point for some of the smaller areas, and was consistently grabbing for his clippers to touch up a small section. All while MTV's Ridiculousness was playing on the 3 big flatscreens. So based on that limited information, I have to give this place max stars. What else can a barber do? Go here. Review it yourself. They are not with putting a star for the rating system. I took my son in this shop on 08/11/2018 and did not feel welcome at all. The barber who cut my son hair had attitude and he cut my son hair to short on top which I ask to just take a little off and make sure it will blend with a #2 on the side. I even ask him to taper the back and he squared him up which I never have a squared in the back. He acted like I didn't know what I was talking about. He ask with attitude if he wanted a fade I said no. For paying $20 for uneven cut and for me having to fix it at home by shaving my son hair right before school start is wrong in every way. READ THIS! This is the place to go to! I've been going to these guys for about 2 years now and I've never been dissapointed. I've never left a review but I'm doing so this time because they went above and beyond. I made the mistake of trying out a different barbershop because it was closer to where I live: huge mistake. They fucked my hair up bad! I called up the Upgrade an hour before their closing time and Avila told me to head on over and they'll see what they could do. I get there and explained to them what happened and that I had an important interview coming up I needed to look good and clean. My barber, RickyT, was like "say no more!" He gave me the cleanest cut of my life! He stayed at extra 35 minutes after closing in order to make sure that my cut was clean. If that's not a devoted barber, then I'm not sure what is! Only downside is that it can get a bit crowded on Friday evenings and weekends, BUT that's what you expect out of a place that gives out great service. They do take appointments too! read more

First barbershop experience and it was a great one. Always went to supercuts before but not anymore. There was a little bit of a wait at the beginning but it was worth it. I always have trouble describing what I want to barbers but I gave them a vague description and when I put my glasses back on to see his work I was highly impressed. After the cut I added on a clean shave and that made me feel super fresh. Cut, fade and shave came out to 25 totally worth it and I'll be coming back for sure. I've been going to this barber shop and it's usually pretty decent Andres is usually the one who does my hair, but this last time it was someone different this baber was very unprofessional he even left me half way to go outside and talk on the phone. However the worst part was my hair I asked for a medium fade comb over and I got trash. He gave me the hair style of Bert from Sesame Street not even close to what I wanted. I had let my hair grow out for a long time and now I had to cut the top short because this guy messed up my hair. I didn't wanted it say anything there cuz I had my son and there was other kids and people and didn't wanted to argue you about it..but sucks went you pay 20 bolas and you get nothing good. I'm fucken stress about it.. I even do a better job on my on I have my own machine to do it.. But I didn't wanted to get my restroom dirty with hairs.. I give this place ZERO STARS!!!!! This place is a freaken JOKE!!! It seems that everytime I go there it smells like pot shop, The smell is so strong, it smells like they are smoking in the back room.. There is a sign that says no foul language in the presents of women and kids, but they always playing dirty nasty rap music, kids or women in the room or not.. They are using razor blades on kids for line ups and drinking beer at the same time. Every Barber looks stone outta their mind, completely unacceptable and dangerous. This place should be shut down.
