Chef Rhodes's forte, in my opinion, is in the subtleties. For example, the Cole slaw is just a little different, but a whole lot better. The soup, just an unbelievable melding of flavors. The catfish was beautifully cooked, and had no "catfishy" overtones. And it says a lot about Keith and his approach in that nearly his entire staff came with him to the bistro from Catch. The only one who didn't was the bartender, because Voyce is currently only beer/wine. BTW drink prices are really reasonable. So if you want to experience masterful cooking at a reasonable price, you'll want to visit. Not for the ambiance, which really isn't bad, but for the food and service. read more

A girlfriend and I came to Voyce for lunch in March, when this restaurant was still pretty new. We'd heard good things and wanted to try it. We were seated right away near the front window which is really fun because you can see everyone walking around the Front/Water/Market area. Our server, Amy, was really nice and attentive. The restaurant is small with a bar towards the back, very intimate dining experience. We were told by Amy that a number of menu items were no longer available that day- only reason for 1 star down. We had lunch at 12:30pm so it wasn't a late lunch. I'm assuming since they were new, working through supply/demand for lunch was happening. I ordered the seafood fried rice which was a large portion and absolutely delicious. My friend ordered the catfish tacos. She said she has literally never had catfish tacos as good as these. They stayed crispy the entire time we were eating and were not too heavily coated and fried. You could taste the freshness of the fish. With the seafood fried rice, there was so much delicious seafood in the dish that it really required no soy sauce or anything. I'll definitely go back to try more dishes! read more

This place makes you feel like you're eating dinner with family. Everyone was extremely welcome and super nice. The restaurant is very small, but I'd consider it cozy and comfortable. We ate at the bar and the conversation with the bartender was great. Our reservation was late, around like 8. The appetizer we wanted ran out as well as the main courses. Additionally, the food took extremely long to come out. Id recommend coming earlier in the day to ensure you can get menu items that you want. The chef gave us a complimentary watermelon ceviche as an apology. I ordered the crab cake sandwich, while the cake was mostly lump meat, it was thin. The bread overpowered the crab cake. The seafood rice tower was really good and I would recommend ordering it! read more

Four of us dined at the Voyce Bistro last night. I made reservations for 6pm. It was our first visit and absolutely not the last. The place is small and accommodates 24 guests (if I counted the number of seats correctly), four of which are barstools at the counter, and 4 against the wall on the right as you enter the restaurant. It's has an upbeat atmosphere along with a friendly staff. Service by our waitress Jennifer was wonderful. She told us the evening specials (there were several) and answered some questions we had. Both of us couples ordered the octopus salad, which was one of their specials. The octopus was perfectly cooked, tender, and not tough. It came with pickled onions, cherry tomatoes, shredded carrots, etc, in a delicious tangy sauce. With this, we were served crackers that were deep fried, perfectly crispy to top with this salad. This was excellent! I ordered the shrimp and grits (one of the specials of the evening), which came with nice plump shrimp, chopped bacon, seafood mushrooms, fresh dill, sliced celery, thinly sliced onions and a brown gravy. All of these flavors and textures worked so well together. My husband had the fried fish, which was catfish. It came with thin fries and a salad. He said he finally knows a place he can go to for a good fish sandwich. Our two friends ordered the crab cake sandwich with fries, and the jerk shrimp sandwich with fries. We all raved about the food at how delicious our meals were and how fresh were the ingredients. Portion and Price: We all felt our entrees were the right portion for the price (my husband and I brought home leftovers), but we felt the amount of octopus was on the small side for two people to share but we were so glad we ordered it. Called ahead 3x, but no one picked up. Luckily, it did not take too long for my order to be done, less than 15 minutes. They almost had a full house when I arrived around 12:45pm on a Wednesday. Parked in the nearby 30 minute free parking garage down on Market Street. Nice location of the restaurant, right by the corner of the Riverwalk. Restaurant itself is fairly small, but they made the best of it by putting as many seats as possible. Watch out for the small step after you enter from the front door! Ordered to-go the air-dried local country sausage and grilled salmon sandwich. The sandwich was supposed to come with fries, but they were out so tator tots were substituted. The country sausage was salty, crispy, and tasty with the side condiments slicked gerkin pickles, pickled onion, creole mustard, and pimento cheese. The grilled salmon sandwich was also good, salmon was not overcooked and there was plenty of remoulade with possibly hint of horseradish. It was served with a slice of fresh lemon but no pickle was found, which was listed on the menu. Tator tots were just as good as Mess Hall's tator tots - crispy and salty. No ketchup was provided, so ask for that if you want it. Overall, I was full and could not finish everything. I would have been satisfied with just the salmon sandwich by itself. The staff member that helped me with my order was nice, but did not know much of the menu itself or inform me fries were out of stock. Unknown answers were remedied by the staff member asking the chef himself. Didn't see any high chairs so call ahead to see if they have any - if they pick up, that is. read more

My favorite spot so far in my year+ of living here. Staff went above and beyond, had a salad compliments of the chef, and ate the best lobster in my life. Every dish was incredible, the atmosphere is very pleasant, good for either a romantic dinner or a casual meal. I would recommend this to anyone. Tastes included blue crab claw, and baked oysters with collard greens as well as shrimp & another appetizer. Accompanied by prosecco to cleanse our palates, it was the perfect taste of Voyce. Just got back from a great dinner at Voyce. We loved it. The food was fantastic, the service perfect, and the vibe was just right. We were fans of Catch, so was glad to see them reform as Voyce. I had an amazing experience at Voyce, I was a big fan of Catch and was not let down by the new restaurant. Chef Rhodes continues to amaze with his talents in the kitchen. I had the whole fried flounder with plantains and salad. My wife had the shrimp and grits, they were low country style with a delicious gravy on top. We both shared the crab fried rice and Jerk shrimp sandwich. While everything was flavorful and did not disappoint, in my humble opinion the fried flounder and jerk shrimp roll were standouts that I could eat single every day.
