I stopped by Casino Monterey while I was in Seaside, and honestly, this place just isn't it. It's a total hole-in-the-wall and definitely not what I expected from a casino experience. First off, no credit card cash advances, which is a big inconvenience. The game selection is extremely limited too -- basically just blackjack, poker, and 3-card poker. No baccarat at all, which was disappointing. As someone who considers themselves a high roller, this place is definitely not for me. The overall vibe feels small, outdated, and lacking the energy you'd expect from a real casino. I'll be sticking to places like Bay 101 Casino or Matrix Casino where the experience is much better. Very friendly low key environment, quiet, felt safe. Decor is appropriately threadbare. No notes. Nice place! We were here on vacation so I decided to check it out. I made my husband go with me the first time because it does look a little sketchy from the outside. Inside is a bit dated but also kinda cute if you like the dive bar feel. Locals playing in the morning were welcoming and the staff was also. Owner introduces himself as I was obviously not a regular. Really nice guy. Provides free lunch at noon for all the players and really anyone in the palce at lunch time. I came here with my 3 besties. 2 of my besties have had some medical issues. One, relies on a cane. It's a small bar, but there was one table available, but only had 2 chairs. The lovely bartender asked 2 people for their chairs which under the circumstance, they gladly gave up. Kudos to them as well. This bartender gave us her undivided attention, giving us menus taking our drink orders offering us food even tho it was a packed house. We had come from 2 other establishments, we were just looking for a place to hang out. Our other friend was in town from AZ. We had 1 drink each which were all great. It's hard enough for my 2 friends so these nice acts of kindness go a long way. The place we went to before, they acted like we were an inconvenience. Also, as we were leaving, the bartender whispered in my friend's ear, " my husband just had a stroke, you're doing a great job girl". I have been playing poker for 20 + years. In travel all over the world I have never experienced the wrath of once employee. A bartender on duty is obviously disturbed. This particular individual actually came down and antagonized me several times after saying my credit card didn't work because it was devoted. I stepped outside and she made a home out of the stempniak. I just moved here and realize it is a local spot. I let it go. I came in a couple nights late and she continued.
