I came here for brunch and wasn't expecting to be impressed with the food. The bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary's are a great price for the area and were the main reason we stopped by. All four of us at brunch found the food to be excellent! The pork roll was the star of the show, but my croque Madame was delicious too. There was live music and the place wasn't too busy. This spot is the best! They have awesome happy hour M-F 4-7pm with different drink choices, including wine! They also have a food menu for happy hour which has my favorite Mickey Dee burger. It's so delicious. They have brunch on Sunday's which has another burger, with an egg on it, that I am a huge fan of. I love the atmosphere here; how relaxed and laid back it is during the day and then how popular it gets at night. I always meet great people here and the bartenders are amazing! Solid whiskey selection. Food was terrible. Even for bar bites...tacos were cold, margarita pizza was something I'd feed my 2 year old cousin, who has no culinary taste. Oh and the whiskey pour by the hippie in the man bun was weaker than my first taste of natty light. Food took 35 minutes to come out from the kitchen...there were only 5 other people in the place. A second star was achieved by the fact that they had a lengthy happy hour ...I'm back again 3 minutes after waking out. Place looked really nice walked in lol tables were taken so we asked for a menu at the bar to order some drinks while a table opened up. Waited 15 minutes never got the menu. Finally a table opened up or so we thought so we sat down. Bartender came cleaned the table off and said he would bring menus waited another 5 minutes when the bar tender comes up and tells us that the table was not free that the people that were there walked outside to smoke and ask us to leave with no options to wait in the outside area or bar just that we needed to leave the table. Horrible experience for me and my wife. Would not recommend based on the level of service. Didn't get a chance to try anything else. read more

A group of colleagues and I decided to come here for their happy hour after work today (Friday) and we were very impressed. The interior is spacious, clean, modern, and with a very cool atmosphere to get a few drinks. there was also a live band playing. The happy hour menu was very reasonable - cocktails were priced at $6 and some menu items were available for $5. I had two cocktails and was very impressed with the composition and taste of both, and my colleagues were similarly impressed with theirs. Our only complaint was that the music was a little too loud to talk, but otherwise a nice vibe. We also enjoyed that there were lots of young professionals here, something that it is sometimes difficult to find in Sarasota. We will be back. read more

Came in with my son, stood at the door because it's our first time here and not a single employee greeted us nor directed us. We were finally told to sit anywhere. 2 ladies sat at the table next to us and the level of service they received from the female server was exemplary compared to ours. All 4 employees working walked passed us, never checked on us that my son had to raise his hand up (like a child in school) before anyone came to see if we needed anything. I asked him if we had a designated server (cause Steven started us off with drinks) and I was told "No it's just 4 bartenders and we try to take care of everyone ". I mentioned to him I was confused because the table right next to us had a server and was being attended to but we weren't. He stated to me, " Well if you need something, just come to the side of the bar". Now...we are the only ethnic guests in this place and the ladies next to us weren't told to go to the bar. I unfortunately will not be back. I was really looking forward to this place only to be treated as if we weren't welcomed at this establishment. Went here for HH at 3pm last night. All menus on the board outside and inside stated HH3-6pm. Told by female bartender it was from 4-7pm. Talked to manager and he honored the HH prices for us. He said their new menus are late. Went to order a Chardonnay only to be told the 7-8 kegs wines are not available. We had a couple of drinks and the HH cerviche, good and very spicy, and also the burger which was average. The female bartender never came outside to check on us while the male bartender did many times for his customers outside. They need to fix their menus to have correct times and the right items available to purchase. I suggest print them on paper for their customers. We won't go back. read more

Typically I dig this place. Typically, the beer selection is great, the service is phenomenal and the live music is some of the best in Sarasota. That being said - tonight was horrible. The live music was an abomination. The volume was WAYYYY too loud to the extent at which people at our table were SCREAMING at one another to try and have a conversation. While the music was bad, it didn't hold a candle to the sorry excuse for service we received for our table of 5. Our waiter didn't hide the fact that he did not want to be working and was extremely rude and volatile the entire night. We didn't feel welcome at all and eventually left because we felt like we were inconveniencing the staff. I never write Yelp reviews, but this negative experience compelled me to do it, even knowing that this rant makes me sound like a pretentious tool. I really like Cask and Ale and if the experience we had tonight is something people unfamiliar with the bar go through on a Saturday night, the bar will not be around long. Downtown Sarasota needs up and coming places like Cask and Ale to drive new revenue and cash flow from young people with disposable income - but if this is the standard set for service and entertainment here, then Main Street will continue to be boring and we will be perpetually stuck in a situation where the night life is governed by the retirees who spend less than 30% of their time here locally. We ordered drinks from their $5 drink menu which were very good. Although today both bartenders were unnecessarily rude to customers. They told several customer to get out of the restaurant and that they would not serve them anymore. I have been here a few times but last time was one of the worst experiences ever. We sat at the bar and bar manager was rude and a little discriminatory. They were not that busy and when we waived at him he completely ignored us and took care of other people that came after us. It looked like he didn't even want us there because he kept asking if we wanted the check. Great food, great mimosas, absolutely awful service. Bacon everywhere on the menu but gave us issues about switching ham on a sandwich to bacon. Then waitress refused to take a Visa gift card and made a HUGE scene at our table. We asked to see the owner and the owner ran the card with zero issues. If I'm rewarded at work with a Visa card and made to feel like scum because "it's a gift card" , check your attitude at the door, and at least TRY it. If it doesn't run, fine. But don't make your guests feel like dirt, period. Don't expect to be treated with care when you dine here. read more
