My friend and I were off of school for the week and decided to take a road trip/camping trip to Death Valley, which is about a 7 hour drive from our hometown. We got to Death Valley and spent less than 24 hours there because we were so miserable. We packed up the car in search of another campground and drove back towards our hometown when we saw The Castaic Lake Campgrounds. We ended up spending the rest of our week there and it was absolutely gorgeous! It saved our Spring Break Vacation. There is tons to do: endless amount of hiking trails, its absolutely gorgeous all day long- from sunrise to sunset and even at night because the lake is lit up, the air is so fresh, the campgrounds are huge, and on the other side of the lake there is millions of benches, tables, and playgrounds to hangout on. Located right off the freeway for easy on/off access. Arrived yesterday @ 4:17 pm, downside was the store closed @ 4 pm. No one here to check us in. I called the # that I had in my files, same # on the truck parked in front of store - no answer. Left message, no call back. Looked through my notes and found # of space we'd paid for so pulled in and set up. Seems like someone should be available for check ins. Nice park, dog friendly. No dog park, but we did walk the park. Didn't feel safe walking my small dogs in park as there was many large dogs behind small fences, one dog almost jumped over fence. Beautiful park with beautifully maintained facilities. The heated pool and spa area are pristine and run year round! Staff is friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The park has a large full time population but everyone was friendly and maintained their sites. The park is located 10 min from Magic Mountain, a short walk to the lake, and 30 min from Warner Bros studio tour! We felt safe and enjoyed our time and plan to return soon. read more

I've stayed there 2 or 3 times for one night each over the past 2 years. The park was clean, the agent at the front desk was courteous, professional, and helpful. I only used the hook ups. They all worked fine. I plan on staying here again. It's about 300 miles from my home which makes it a convenient first or last stop when traveling south of returning home and traveling through SoCal. read more

Needed a one night stay to rest up. I'm not the type of driver to rush to my destination. This RV park filled the need to do just that. Rest! It's very tight spaced meaning you are quite close to your neighbors. Maneuverability is not an issue, but tighter than the norm when driving through the park. Primarily it's the home of many full time residents. They have a dog park area at the entrance and the grounds is well kept. That's a plus. I'd return if there was a need in the future, but can't help but to compare to other parks I've been to for the price point. I do appreciate that it is just down the street from the Pilot Travel Center. read more

The response says it all. I am one of many that receive responses like this. It is sad that the owner doesn't invest more in customer service training. Personal experience and reviews by others support the claim that the manager here has displayed hostility, discrimination, and anger on more than a few occasions. He lashes out at customers when they voice their dissatisfaction with the customer service they receive. There is a proper way to conduct yourself when in management and defending yourself, the manager here clearly doesn't understand that. The grounds themself are just like anywhere else and the north side had a big rat problem but that is expected in a lot of areas open like that. read more

Super easy online reservation, great price (thank you for military discount), rv sites clean and spacious with excellent hook ups, jacuzzi and pool sparkling, bathrooms and private shower space with attached changing space clean!! Laundry room clean and in great working order. What I loved most about the spirit of this family owned business is that they are good hearted and not gauging us like all the other rv parks in California. They have everything you need here to refresh! I have never stayed here before because of some of the bad reviews and I am so glad I gave it a try because I see those "folks" reviews for who they are - "disgruntled individuals". We booked for the month of May. Upon my initial call to inquire about availability etc. I was asked what type of dogs I had. I let them know we had two dogs, a lab mix and a Staffordshire terrier mix. Nothing was said, and reservation was booked. Fast forward to today we call to see if we can just reserve the night. The same woman we spoke to previously asks again about our dogs and then proceeds to tell me they won't accept my Staffordshire terrier because it's a pit bull and that she was going to have to cancel or reservation for the month of may as well. This place is all over the board. I was given an initial spot with enough height clearance for a pull behind due to tree limbs. I reserved for a fifth wheel. Much different height profile. I was originally told no other spots were available then suddenly there was a pull in spot with full hook-ups available which I had been requesting for almost three weeks. SMH! Brian the manager is a real dirt bag , there was an issue with unkempt tree branches on spacE number 7 branches way to low , no room to maneuver and damage was caused to the roof of my fifth wheel. when I brought up the problem with BrIan he could have cared less , the tree had been hit several times before my trailer was subject to poor maintenance. I tried to get information about Brians superiors but Brian said it stopped with him a real jerk . The family that owns the property are old and in poor health leaving this piece of work responsible , I really wanted to settle this like a man and put my boot up his butt, decided the better and not mess up a good pair of boots on a spineless turd . I just camped here with a bunch of my friends. We reserved three campsites. Each campsites could only fit 2 cars, 2 tents and up to 8 people. The rest of the cars should be park by the entrance and 11 dollars per car. If you plan good and reserve way ahead of time, you can choose from https://reservations.lacounty.gov/Index.asp?actiontype=camping. There's pictures on each site. we chose the lot c compare from my first visit, it is now more developed. There's a shower : coin operated 1 dollar 3 minutes but its on the other side its between lot c and b Some spot are shaded some are not If you pick the spots closer to the lake, there's no shade and the grounds is full of rocks so better bring an airbed: No swimming on the camp side of the lake, you have to drive on the other side to swim Fishing is really hard, I'm not saying there's no fish., but my first visit was wasted fishing and didn't caught anything and even rented a boat so we could go in the middle. All i got was a sunburn. There's still wildlife everywhere. From birds, to snakes, rabbits, roaches, rats. In my last visit we saw two snakes, one 4ft gopher snake and a foot rattle snake. so be careful! On our spot there's a faucet and electric outlet. There's drinking fountain and faucet to wash feet. this is located between our tents: Since we have a lot of kids it was really convenient for us There's a lot of store close to the camp so if you forgot something, you can easily get what you need. make sure to bring some canopy for shade since it does get hot and no trees for shades. The only thing is the bathroom. It gets bad. There's no door for the toilet. You can still go down the lake, but instead of fishing we brought our remote control boat that i got from target for 25 each.. something to do.. it was not as fast as a gas but still had fun! Over all it was good. great for families with kids or starter camper There weren't a lot of things you could do there , but i just really enjoyed the relaxing breeze under the shades and grilling with families.My advice is plan ahead, i booked my reservations more that 2 months in advance so you can pick the spot for you! read more

There is confusion as to which park is being reviewed. Some reviews here are for the Castaic Lake Recreational Campground. The Castaic Lake RV Park is about 1/2 mile from the park at the lake. This RV Park is clean and well cared for. However, it is not really a "camping" location. It is more of a Park for people who permanently live in their RVs. And I mean people who live there, not just people who travel in their RV full time. There were less than 5 "travelers" in the park at any given time. This is the first place I stayed where I felt it was mandatory to lock everything up all day and night. The last night we stayed, I witnessed a permanent resident sweet talking a women who had the appearance of a drug user without a home. Let's just say they were still up and talking loudly at 2:00 AM. We left at 3 AM to get the heck out of there. The park is what I call a "RV Parking Lot". The RVs are right on top of each other, especially if you have a slide out. When I went to sleep the last night, the "traveler" next to us was playing some game on his smart phone that was connected to speakers. Our slide out was almost "over" his picnic table where he was playing at 11PM. With all of the noise, we were forced to turn on the exhaust fan to drown it all out. It might be a nice place to live, but not the kind of place I would ever "camp". read more

We've stayed here before, and while there's really nothing wrong with this RV park, they've lost us as customers. I made a reservation for late August 2023, and then found out I goofed and needed to change it to a couple weeks later. I called, and was told I'd be charged $10.00 for this. Why? It's their "policy." They want to charge me for a few clicks on a keyboard. So what did I do? I emailed them to cancel my reservation, for that reason. Absolutely horrible rv park. We made our reservation days ago for the one site we could fit in. We arrive and someone is in our spot. They say they'll move it and after an hour of waiting the assistant manager comes out and yells at us saying my boyfriend was disrespectful. After waiting another 30 minutes for someone to move the RV in our spot and after having already paid they tell us they're refunding us and that they're refusing service to us. I confirmed 3x on the phone that my 20ft car hauler can be stored there for $80 in the boat section and wouldn't be an issue. She advised as long is it is 20ft or less. Perfect! My family and I have recently started coming to this park to do bar b q's with friends and family. I must say, they keep the ground very clean, well manicured and well patrolled. Additionally it is not overly crowded. Even when it is at capacity it isn't very busy. Most of the bbq areas are news and well kept. We will definitely be back here!! read more

Just in case anybody was considering the Castaic RV park for trailer storage... let me advise you otherwise. I was a faithfully auto paying customer for a double spot under the solar panels for over 5 years. I have two trailers. My house is undergoing renovation, and I swapped out my 5th wheel camper for my classic car in the driveway, so my pets and my kids had an air conditioned space to stay in during the afternoons while the crews were still working on the house. I received a call at 10am Sunday morning 08/22 about parking a CAR in the RV lot. Mind you, the place is full of trucks and cars and studio toilets that don't qualify as an RV... not including the tarped over trash in some spots, . but somehow my running, driving and covered 67 Chevelle, which I hated to let leave my driveway in the first place, was a problem for Bryan Rupp. Nevertheless, there was no compassion and no leeway when his representative spoke on the phone. I asked for a fresh copy of rules and requested a few weeks grace... neither were granted. Later that day, I was sent a cancelation of contract via email. I've tried to reach out via email and phone, but this coward refuses to answer me. The cancelation said vacate by 09/02/22 at 11am. Fine. Back to the point of my story... I happily found a better location for less money and today 09/01/22, went to get the car, only to find this....a tractor blocking me in! This man wants confrontation. His family had owned the property for years, but he has zero experience running a business. Other Yelp reviews confirm him yelling at kids, yelling at pets, yelling at campers. We're probably both lucky it was after hours and I got the car out without touching the tractor (think Austin Powers). I did call the sheriff, just to put the situation on record. I just hope any of my friends reading this will 1) stop all business they give to this idiot running what could be a great asset to our town of Castaic and 2) direct their friends away too. Try travel village... try anywhere... don't dump. Don't buy propane. This dude needs to learn I will be reaching out to the Lions, Elks, and Moose about canceling any car shows or other sponsored events etc. This town is too small for this kind of crap. Do not come here bad place for kids very boring came late and they didn't give a bathroom code or pool code and if someone that stays the code they will get kicked off the park loots of people live here a better camping spot I recommend going to Ventura ranch KOA it's more fun for kids nicer pool and they have a jumping pillow and zip line and people are nicer read more

Think of this Castaic RV park like The Bates Motel.....after 2.5 years of storing our RV (because we live out of state, as part of our saavy move out of California), and being forced to stay here for a few months in order to recover from surgery at a local hospital, I rate this place with 1 star, simply because it has a pool, albeit dirty. (To my knowledge during our stay, the pool was shut down at least twice due to issues of contamination due to to fecal matter.) Sadistic and sarcastic staff like 'Damien' 'Carlos' and 'Karen' to a few others (the nice, timid 'kids' who are 18-20 looking for a 1st temp.job quit after a few weeks, and the old, crabby tyrants who revel in dictatorship rule the roost) control the placement of vacationers and residents like chess pieces. They are greedy with money and rent but never help guests even though they are paid to serve the park guests (part of their reduced rent) because the only way one gets help is through a primitive bartering system.....it's a place where there are a few big fish, in a little Castaic lake, which is getting smaller and smaller because of the drought, but the conditioned pyrhanna dont seem to notice the drought. The pecking order is easily observed over a few hours' time. Meth labs, coke heads, smokers, boozers, abusers & loud people speaking languages other than English who play their native music loudly, sheriff's who know them all by name, are all part of the party scene. It's also located right under the high tension wires and electric spawn the DWP power plant & generators, so the toxicity of the water and attitudes could be attributed to that..... If you're trying to escape a bad past, the turncoat staff will manipulate you into thinking you can be successful here. If you're a classy, educated person or family & all you want is a few nights in a park so you can enjoy the lake and Magic Mountain, look elsewhere!! read more

This is mainly a full time living Rv park with about a dozen or so spots for overnighters. They are doing some renovations and upgrades for the better so should be improving over time. We called the day of to reserve as were just looking for a spot to stay as we pass through. Employees were very nice and the store had all the essentials. Spots were also very nice either paved or gravel each with some synthetic turf a table and a fire pit. Full hookups were easily accessible. It was surprisingly quiet all night and in the am. Solid place to stay for the night or maybe two at most. read more

Stayed on C20, pretty shady. Campground looks nice, and clean. I give it only three stars because the attendant at check in was really sarcastic. She ask me twice, like she couldn't believe I only have one car coming in. we came a little late at 4:30pm. So when I asked about the lake she said "you wanna swim? U better hurry up ". I hope future campers dont bump into her. she was annoying. Another disappointment was the bathroom, they have no doors for privacy. Also,the showers dont take quarters well. I lost a total of $3. One shower stall #1 kept spitting out the quarter and #4 never turned on at all when I put in a dollar. The next day I told the front attendant she said sometimes they get too full. Ok so I try again same #4 stall because its super spacious and has a bench. Well I had to put in $1.25to start it. I also added more quarters for more time and never got the time I needed. Very frustrating. Other then that it was nice. To go to lake side and swim was free but parking was difficult to find so go early to grab parking. My campsite was full of early sleepers which I don't mind but hard to keep us settled and asleep by ten. I guess we are nite owls. Speaking about nite owls, we saw two of them just as the sun set.
