Adorable cabin with a loft for my kids to sleep in. Here with 3 kids and a spouse that didn't want to sleep in a tent. Kids love it.

Campground was dirty, trash everywhere, did not see any staff cleaning anything up. RV site had had trash in it and fire pit was full of ash and was not cleaned out upon arrival. Ask staff if they could have somebody come and clean it up they said they would send somebody out to clean it, No one ever showed up. pool area was full of trash. Bathrooms were not clean. When I addressed issues with staff. I was told they were short staffed. If you're expecting an upper level of experience than this is not it . We have stayed at many KOA campgrounds and have had great experiences. This one falls short of expectations. Very disappointed in the level of response when I tried to bring issues up to staff and when I asked for help , nothing was done to fix any of the issues. read more

We love coming here. The grounds are wonderful. The staff are helpful and great. We usually do tent camp sites but decided to do a cabin this time. Unfortunately, my kids and wife want cabins from now on. But will do the occasional tent camping. The pool and creek are so refreshing in the summer. Dear KOA Ventura Ranch Management, I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding our recent stay and to request a partial refund due to the numerous issues that significantly impacted our family's experience. Upon arrival, we discovered that there was no hot water available. My young children were forced to take very brief showers using extremely cold water, which was uncomfortable and not what we expected during our stay. We also found that the internet service was unavailable despite it being advertised as an amenity. Additionally, I was advised prior to our arrival that a propane grill would be available for our use. Based on that information, we planned our meals accordingly. Unfortunately, no propane grill was provided, creating an unexpected inconvenience for our family. The following day, conditions worsened when the water service was completely shut off. Without running water, the restroom facilities became unsanitary very quickly, as toilets could not be flushed and the bathrooms became increasingly unpleasant to use. Although we received the notice that the water would be off until 1pm it went well over that. This created an unacceptable situation for guests and made it difficult for our family to comfortably remain on the property. We chose KOA Ventura Ranch because of its reputation for providing a quality family camping experience. Unfortunately, the lack of essential services and amenities during our stay fell well below reasonable expectations. Given the extent of these issues and the impact they had on our family's stay, I respectfully request a partial refund of the fees paid for our reservation. I believe this would be a fair resolution considering the loss of basic services that were part of the experience we purchased. I would appreciate your prompt review of this matter and look forward to hearing from you regarding a resolution. We've traveled all over the country and stayed at numerous KOAs in our travels. We were really disappointed with this one. For starters, their laundry facilities burned down NINE YEARS AGO and still hasn't been replaced so no laundry here. They have peacocks all over the place and they're very noisy very early in the morning (like 5:30-6:00 am). There's no septic at most of the sites and their dump station is designed to be used when you're leaving so anyone who needs to use it upon arrival needs to do about a 7 point turn to turn around and use it on the way in. read more

Very disappointed with our stay at Ventura Ranch KOA. Our campsite was not maintained, overgrown weeds, including ragweed, and trash left behind. We specifically booked this site for the open space for our kids, and it was unusable. The overgrown ragweed caused an allergic reaction for my child. It's clear there is a lack of care for families and the overall guest experience. A maintenance worker said they are in between groundskeepers, but that does not excuse the condition of the site. I made multiple attempts to contact the manager, including calls and in-person visits, and never received a response, even after a month of follow-up. For the price and reputation, this was unacceptable. Find a campground that actually delivers what it advertises. Stay away! read more

I took my kids here for a week of 'glamping' in one of their fully loaded cabins. I love they have this option. Bedroom, bathroom and full kitchen. The kitchen was pretty well stocked with more things than I expected. There is a small store you can get ice or condiments if anything is forgotten too. They had arts and crafts every day at noon, pool, jumping pillow, hike trails, obstacle courses and plenty of space for bike riding. My kids were constantly busy and made friends with other kids. The camp ground is covered with wild peacock families which my kids loved. I would recommend bringing sleep/sound machines to drown out the peacock sounds at night tho! I think this is a great option for families to come with friends as well. read more

This KOA has a lot to offer! High ropes adventure course, nice big pool, a wide range of accommodations...... but the peacocks!!! Oh my word, they are SO LOUD! It sounds like a child screaming help and it goes on all day and all night. It is a loud shrill cry that you do not get used to. If you are a light sleeper, either bring earplugs or use a really loud white noise machine/app. We stayed in the full hook area called, Pine. Nice wide spaces with privacy hedges in between spots. If you are going to use the adventure course, be advised that it is not open every day. Check with the office for a schedule of availability. There were several activities available, but you just have to take advantage of them when they are offered. Overall, it's a great little campground. Due to the peacocks, we will not be returning, but if they don't bother you, then you will love it! read more

What a fun place for children ! this was our first time visiting the KOA. It was Fourth of July not a lot of people which is perfect. Lots of kids running around people having fun . I brought four grandkids. My grandkids are aged from five to 11. The older ones did zip Line, and they all went hiking dug for treasure , swimming and went into the creek and bounce on the jumper . It is beautiful. We stayed at one of there TEEPEEs !! Everyone here is so nice helpful !! my kids enjoyed themselves very much ! The weather was beautiful lots of arts and crafts so much to do here. Prices are reasonable for the Teepees cabins and other rooms ! I will definitely come back. read more

I come here every couple of months to camp with scouts and it's pretty amazing. The bathrooms are clean, there are tons of activities including zip lining, a swimming pool, an inflatable bounce pad near the pool, and many more. They also have showers, trails, and a river right next to the camp, which is awesome. Most of the time there are peacocks making noises at night and they might keep you up. There are more activities than the ones I mentioned but if you don't sleep easily, then maybe bring headphones or earplugs. Overall, its a great place to camp and tons of activities to keep you busy during the day. read more

First off... I booked the "wheelchair accessible" cabin. For those who are wheelchair users, please know that this cabin is NOT wheelchair accessible. My son was unable to get up the concrete ramp to the cabin because of the 2" gap from the dirt to the rap, and once he maneuvered through the mud to get up the ramp, we discovered that he couldn't enter the cabin due to the 2" lip from the patio to the cabin. The cabin itself is narrow so wheelchairs are not able to access the bathrooms or bedrooms. The only area he could access was the kitchen/dining/living room area. If the sofa could convert to a bed, that could've been an option for him, but since it didn't, we are lucky that my son is still small enough for us to lift and carry to the bedroom to sleep. I contacted Carol at the registration office about not being able to access our cabin, and she sent maintenance over. Special shout out to Jesse from maintenance who worked in the rain and was able to quickly create ramps for my son to get his wheelchair up the ramp & inside our cabin. Besides the non-accessible cabin, my family enjoyed our weekend getaway here! The cabin itself is clean, comfortable, fully furnished with a fully stocked kitchen, and has a great view of the hills. There's really low water pressure so expect it to take a long time to wash your dishes. Luckily the shower had decent water pressure! Every staff member we encountered was super nice, and we enjoyed the activities like the labyrinth maze, the mini hiking trail/BMX bike trail, the gem mining, and most of all the zip lining/rope course. I love the teepees and wagon accommodations they have on site, would love to stay in one of those in the future! There's a creek down the way which you can go play in or just sit and enjoy looking and listening to the water. Peacocks also roam around the property and mostly come out in the morning if you want to see them. The only suggestions I would make is to have true ADA compliant cabins, and to have some kind of activities scheduled everyday rather than every other day, and having activities at night would be fun too. read more

I had the pleasure of staying at Ventura Ranch KOA Holiday in Santa Paula, California, from July 1 through July 4, and I must say, it was an incredible experience. From the moment I arrived, the entire staff, from maintenance to management, was absolutely magnificent. Their generous, high-quality customer service truly made my stay unforgettable. The ranch itself is an adorable, beautiful, and picturesque location. Despite a last-minute booking as I wasn't able to stay at the original main cabin and decided to stay on my own, I was fortunate enough to secure a cabin, thanks to the incredibly accommodating staff. The registration office is stocked with everything you might need if you happen to forget your essentials. They offer eggs, bread, milk, water, hotdogs, canned food, seasonings, plates, and charcoal. Despite having only my bag of clothes and personal hygiene items, I was able to get by comfortably thanks to their well-stocked store. I'm currently enjoying my stay immensely. The cabin is cozy, with an spectacular view from my front deck where I can do yoga, inside I found a sweet treat an electric fireplace and I'm about to embark on my 2nd time for some zip lining and tackle the obstacle course again, as well as take a dip in the beautiful pool. The property also offers great trails for hiking, and the scenery is nothing short of stunning. One delightful surprise was the presence of wild peacocks that live on the property. They are gorgeous, and it's a beautiful sight to see them walking freely around, sometimes even coming to your front door as you enjoy your morning meal. What truly stands out to me is the kindness, professionalism, and empathy shown by everyone at the ranch from maintenance to management. It shows leadership is outstanding. I think I teared up at their kindness due to my situation. Their support has left a lasting impact on me. I highly recommend this amazing campground, whether you're looking to rent an RV, experience camping in a teepee, bring your own tent, or stay in a wood cabin like I did. The scenery is gorgeous, and the overall experience is one I will never forget. We had a great time; a group of about 40 rented Cabins and tent sites. We do a group trip every year. On my review I will just post the Clubhouse experience. The clubhouse is perfect for your large group. KOA will need to provide BBQ grills as the current grill does not work. I will post pictures so you can see. Overall, the space is great and lots of room inside and out. There are about 8 round tables with about 50 chairs. I gave it a four because BBq needs to be available at all times. read more

We called in for a reservation and was told they had a spot in "Rivers Edge" and said there would be directions when we arrived after hours to get to the site. While the sharpie on the map seemed to be accurate, we never saw a sign for "Rivers Edge" and had to assume it was the spot right after the sign for Hidden Point due to the location of the bathroom and numbered wagons. We looked the next day during daylight and still never saw a sign near the site for Rivers Edge. I'm not sure what river it was named after, but there was a dry ditch behind the site. It wasn't clarified on the phone there wasn't an actual river. It was also never mentioned that peacocks were native to the area and VERY loud. The women's bathrooms had the floor falling in, the shower sounded like it was flowing water behind the wall when it was off, and the spigot by the pool was constantly going. This was one of the worst camping sites on our cross country roadtrip. read more

This is your standard run down KOA campground, but they have a bunch of things for kids so we came out to check out the really gross bathrooms that are dirtier than Burger King. It's about what you would guess....minus the fact that the entire property is crawling with the noisiest damn peacocks. They are everywhere and they love to make noise all hours of the day. There is no quiet here, the place is infested. I can't wait to leave. Someone find a predator for these confounded beasts. This may actually be a peacock sanctuary. read more

Copy and pasting the email my mother sent to the KOA on July 11th with no response. I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with my recent stay at the KOA Ventura Ranch Campground from July 9-11. Unfortunately, the experience was far from what I had expected, and I would like to bring several issues to your attention in the hope that they can be addressed to prevent future guests from facing similar problems. 1. **Air conditioners not Cooling**: we arrived on July 9 with a 3 cabin rental in which two of the cabins air conditioners didn't work. We contacted the front desk and they sent out maintenance with portable air conditioners. The portable air conditioners barely cooled the living space (down to approximately 84 degrees) but did not cool the loft area or the bedrooms where we would be sleeping. 2. ** no activities for small children.** I brought with me five of my grandchildren, 7 year-old, (2) 6 year-olds, 4 year-old and 2 1/2 year-old and the only activities that were available for them to do during our stay was gold mining, a very hot balloon pillow, hot spider infested Swing set and the swimming pool. You will see my future complaints about those activities, there should be more activities throughout the day at a KOA campground for families to enjoy with small children. 3. **bathroom sewage**: after arriving Tuesday afternoon for our vacation the only activities that were available for us to do was the swimming pool. Upon entering the swimming pool, there were two maintenance workers working on a sewage spill where black fecal matter was coming up out of the manhole cover 5 feet from the swimming pool. The maintenance men proceeded to hose down the horrible smelling sewer smell as we tried to enjoy, our swimming experience. We heard the men say do not let this get into the swimming pool. As you can imagine our faces were at the same level as the sewage spill coming from the bathrooms. The pool was very dirty and not well maintained. The pool chairs were dirty and had spider webs on them. 4. **Gold mining**: on Wednesday day two of our vacation we decided to do the only activity that was available for the young children, which was gold mining. If we begin at 10:30 AM. We arrived on site at 10:25 and there were approximately five other children and four adults waiting for the activity to start. There was a woman dressed in a yellow KOA shirt with her daughter on site and the woman could not figure out how to get the water to pump. She was on the phone with maintenance and he was trying to walk her through how to start the generator. After she hung up, she said that he would be there as soon as he could, and that he was the only maintenance person that had came into work today and he was the supervisor. But first he had to deal with , an investigation with the sheriff and then he would be down to help figure out what the problem was with the water. While waiting, we decided to take the kids over to the hot balloon jump, which got old very quick and after 30 minute delay the maintenance man finally showed up and with a push of one button the water began to pour. I feel that this was very unprofessional, and the staffing although very nice was inadequate. The campground knows how many campers they had and should've staffed adequately. The accumulation of these issues significantly impacted the quality of my stay and left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. Considering that our family spent over $1800 for a two-night stay, which is the prices you'd get at a luxury hotel or somewhere that the price covered countless amenities this was a terrible experience. read more

Great place to take the kids for the weekend! We "cheated" a little stayed in the covered wagon that has provided beds for up to 6 people, but other camping options were available. Kids took advantage of the zip lines and obstacle course. Highly recommend for a quick weekend trip away from the city and the screens. read more

Big ranch! They are divided into RV site, tent site & lodging site. RV site is closest to the entarnce/office. Just a few minutes drive to the tent site. During the weekends, it is getting very crowded. On the tent site, each lot is prettyg good size. After we setup our tent, there is still space to set up table & chairs. They do have picnic table on each lot as well (just a little bit beat up condition). Also, the restrooms & bathrooms are just a few. So a little bit inconvenience. At night.... noise level is quite high. No staff is patroling unfortunately. The lodging site... OMG! Love their wagon & teepee. They are so cute! But the only concern we have... it would be too hot/humid inside. Besides that, they also have cabin (with bathroom!). There are several kids playground/activities. Like pool, arts & craft, zipline, etc. Kids won't feel bored for sure. However, some do have to pay for the activities. Just a short walk, there will be hiking trail & small stream. Overall, if we want to get away from the city & not driving too far. This is a okay place to spend a few nights. read more

I really do not like leaving negative reviews, but with 10+ unreturned phone calls and emails, I feel like this is our only form of recourse. My first complaint is about the lack of response from management and my second is about the condition of the URINE DUMPSTER campsite that management LATER ADMITTED they never rent out due to the smell and hazmat conditions of breathing in fermented and bacteria ridden liquid... If you are put in campsite NUMBER 2, please, be forewarned! Also, please do review the attached photos to see what I mean! We have been calling management for more than a week regarding a refund. Someone JUST returned our call on Monday the 31st. They were both rude to my husband and further, refused to give us a full refund (offering $90ish of the full $180+) because we didn't call the correct "emergency number" on the night of the TWO incidents, AND THEN proceeded to hang up on us! Side note: How are we supposed to search for the aforementioned emergency number when the WiFi doesn't even reach the grounds even though the site was advertised as having WiFi... and the gentleman who checked us in certainly made no reference of an emergency line? My husband and I are REWARDS members and placed our reservation weeks in advance. When we arrived, we were put in a spot that we were later told by customer service, is "normally never rented out" due to the horrific smell of the dumpster. Considering we were in the biggest heatwave that the Earth has ever experienced last week, you would think that the dumpster would have been emptied. To make things even worse, there was a party of about 30+ people at the campsite right next to ours, blasting music, even though the rules of these grounds (and also why we chose to book here) explicitly state that there are only six people permitted per campsite. I am beginning to wonder if we were put in the party/family section due to prejudice of our foreign last name, as there were several sites available as we were departing. Did they assume that we were coming to party? We left the premises after only being there for two hours. The campsite smelled like URINE due to the dumpster, yet we still proceeded to cook our food. We were forced to eat several feet away from the site to avoid regurgitating what we had just consumed back into our mouths. What is extremely disconcerting, is that we witnessed an employee survey the site just before closing, and they did not acknowledge this problem in the least. We called the emergency number attached to our KOA rewards account THAT NIGHT to no avail. We then spent the next several hours finding a hotel that would accommodate us and a pet. This is not as easy as you might think in the heart of July in Southern California... With all of that being said, we have been calling KOA several days requesting a refund. We paid for two days in advance and did not even stay for one. Further, if the person on site was delegating the premed is according to the rules, this party would have never happened and the dumpster would not have been overflowing. I am just posting this in hopes that SOMEONE who can help reads this... and to warn future campers of this extremely non-camp friendly location. I understand that KOA only wants to give a partial refund, but they are not taking into account, the money that we spent on firewood and camp food and camping supplies, and then the extra fees we had to pay to book a hotel at midnight, when checkout was only 10 hours later. We definitely did not get our moneys worth on that end, so the very least that the KOA can do for ruining our entire trip and breaking THEIR OWN RULES is just simply refund what we spent at their establishment. This is our second year at Ventura Ranch KOA. We rented out two of the deluxe penthouse cabins for our family glamping trip and they were lovely (NBC 1 and NBC 2). We love the grassy courtyard. Cabins are clean, beds comfy, and fresh linens. Cabins come with pots/pans/bowls/utensils, etc. there are propane barbecue, which is easy to use. Staff is lovely and very responsive. There are loud wild peacocks - which aren't too bad! However one of the males is known to attack the cars that are parked in between cabins 2 and 3! Highly recommend a car cover. The ground are lovely! My son loved the air pillow. The pool is large, beautiful and has plenty of seating. We spent a lot of time in the creek, which is large enough to float in. We also bought a bag of crystals/rocks to "pan" in the creek. We will certainly be back for a third year. read more

Just got home from a 2 night stay in what they consider a penthouse location, designed by NBC for a show. The cabin itself was run down, spider webs everywhere, shower had a half door opening with water spraying everywhere when you took a shower. The peacocks damaged our cars and the horrible noise, doesn't let you relax or even sleep. Take a white noise machine if you can. The pool was run down, the rock climbing wasn't staffed or operating, the gold mining wasn't available, there weren't any corn hole games either. Only activities for kids were the jumping pillow and pool. Overall just a run down place. read more

Should've read the reviews on yelp before coming here. The person we spoke with on the phone acted like there weren't any spots left.Got here to a half empty campground. Also asked if we wanted a"riverside" spot. There is an empty creek next to us. 78$ for run down bathrooms, can't use any of the amenities (they should state that some stuff is only open on weekends) and the peacocks!!! Couldn't sleep for the noise of them. All day and night. It's cool they're here but they could at least let people know what's going on instead of tricking us into spending money to stay somewhere that should be 20$ a night. If you're tent camping, AVOID! I then went to space 24. A total desolate spot with no there people in sight. There were red flags all over the spot! Why were the red flags there. I left and drove home. I am 30 mins from the Ranch. They received 1 star only because of the friendly staff at the front office. I haven't been here 24 hours yet and they gave my spot that was reserved to someone else, thankfully they moved. Not even 16 hours later the power goes out. Calling after hours number and mailbox is full. I called within 2 min of it going out! Nice emergency number! I will never ever come here again! I grew up camping, but now I'm more of a room service in a hotel kind of girl. Every once in awhile my kids beg me to camp and we meet in the middle with a cabin. I've been to quite a few KOA campgrounds but this one wins by far. My sister recommended this place to me, and I booked without reading reviews. So the day before I signed onto yelp and I immediately got scared from other peoples experiences with dirty cabins, etc. . I'm happy to say that this was not my experience at all. We encountered 3 employees while staying here and all 3 were incredibly helpful, kind and friendly. We played on the jumping pad, swam in the pool, went to the labyrinth twice (go at night to freak your kids out), played and mined in the creek, played at the park and walked the nature trail. We were here for 3 days and two nights and never got bored. So many fun things to do! They also have arts and crafts, a rock wall and zip lining all for a extra fee. Our studio cabin had no kitchen, just a microwave a mini fridge and a sink, but there is a charcoal grill and fire pit outside to cook with. There is no TV's, but honestly it was kind of nice to get away from that and both my 14 and 6 year old never missed it any point. Bedding was provided for the queen bed and the beds (mattresses) in the loft. Bathroom towels, some kitchen utensils and a small coffee pot are also provided. Wi-Fi is spotty, but once again we didn't really mind. Keep a eye out for wild peacocks, the frog shrine, and the heads in the tree stump along the walking trail. We can't wait to return and use the zip line next time! read more

There is plenty of shade, barbeque grills swimming pool and play areas for the kids. There are also Teepee's, Covered Wagons available to rent for camping, in addition to cabins. read more
