Our local Castanedas closed so had to try this one on our drive back from Vegas. Service here was excellent and while they have tourist pricing here, it wasn't that bad. As for the food, I preferred the taquitos at my old place. Tasted a little like frozen store bought than fresh. Ok, just not what I recall. The nacho though were excellent and as remembered. Chips were fresh, toppings on point and meat seasoned well. We asked for the chips to be separate because of the drive and didn't want soggy nachos and they packed it perfectly for us. Chipotle salsa was a stand out but I also like the watery red sauce which is more nostalgic for me and pairs well with the nachos. Bathrooms could have used a fresh cleaning, but I blame the patrons more than the restaurant. It's not much to ask for people to aim better, sitting or standing. Argh! We will stop by again, especially if there is traffic on the drive back home.

Everything was going good until my daughter received the wrong order, then waited over 20min for it. They are a bit understaffed, working the front and drive thru window. The food was tasty, but I don't see myself coming back. For this to be right off the freeway and conveniently across from the Tesla Superchargers they really need to get it together. We paid over 50.00 and at this point for the time wasted we could have went to Taco Bell.

By the time we got here, this was about the only place in town to eat. Fortunately, for night-driving motorists it is open 24 hours a day, I am game for Mexican food most every day, so a Combination #1 meal with a well-loaded Hard-Shell Shredded Beef Taco and a salad-like Tostada accompanied by Refried Beans and Mexican Rice filled the late-dinner bill nicely once good Guacamole was added. Numerous salsas were available to sample or apply. Diane's Shrimp Quesadilla was uneven (some parts had thick cheesy areas and others were more bare), but the added shrimp were okay. Salsa dispensers were missing except for lids, but once I mentioned this, the plastic bodies were quickly replenished. French Fries were crispy, and there were a lot of them. Service was friendly and helpful. Seating was comfortable enough.

Carne asada fries (just ok, nothing crazy)

Carne asada fries were just ok. Not the best I've had, but appreciate they use real potatoes which makes it special. The toppings and salsa are just ok.

Great quick stop while charging. We were the only ones there at first, so our food came out fast, which was perfect. I ordered the steak breakfast burrito with a jamaica, and my husband got the machaca breakfast plate with a pina. My burrito was really good, packed with meat, eggs, and potatoes. Super filling. My husband was happy with his plate too. The sauce bar was a nice bonus, and the location is super convenient, especially being close to the chargers. Service was friendly. It looked like one younger guy was handling orders and serving while a woman in the back was cooking everything up, and they kept things running smoothly. People started trickling in after us, so clearly it is a popular spot. Solid food, quick service, and a convenient stop.

Wanted to try something local & this place did not disappoint. As aforementioned before in a review, this place is a hidden gem. If you're from LA, the food here is similar to an Alberts! I got a carne asada fry burrito and it hit the spot. I appreciated how clean and spacious the restaurant is & the authenticity of the artwork/music. Food was made to order and came out in a timely manner. Would definitely come again!

My daughter and I stopped at the Tesla Superchargers out front and decided to pop into Castaneda's for a quick bite--and I'm really glad we did. I ordered a Cherokee taco, a steak taco, and a side of rice, and everything hit the spot. The flavors were fresh, the portions were solid, and it was exactly the kind of satisfying meal you hope for on a road trip. Service was great too, friendly, fast, and welcoming. And for a busy highway stop, the bathrooms were impressively clean, which is always a huge plus when you're traveling. If you're charging your car or just passing through Baker, Castaneda's is absolutely worth the stop. I'd definitely come back.

Lengua street tacos and Cabeza quesadilla

Stopped by Castaneda's Mexican Food in Baker during our trip to grab a quick bite while charging the car. We ordered the cabeza quesadilla, lengua street tacos, and al pastor street tacos. The standout by far was the cabeza quesadilla. It came generously filled with soft, juicy cabeza and perfectly melted cheese, and they served it with pico de gallo, shredded cabbage, guacamole, and sour cream on the side. The cabeza was rich, tender, and full of flavor. Highly recommend this and would 100% order it again if we're ever back. The lengua tacos were a bit of a letdown. The meat was noticeably drier and chewier compared to lengua we've had at other taco spots. The al pastor marinade leaned very salty--we found ourselves pretty thirsty afterward and kept drinking water for the rest of the drive. Ambiance-wise, it's a fast-food setup. You order and pay at the cashier, then they bring the food out to your table. Service was prompt and efficient. We got our food within about 5 minutes of ordering, which is great when you're on the go. Overall, an acceptable pit stop with quick service. However, we both preferred the overall dining experience at Los Dos Toritos by a mile (no pun intended!) due to the meats quality and their salsa bar.

First time to try this place. Driving from Vegas to home and we decided to give it a try! We ordered beef taquitos. You can either get guac or sour cream. They were very fresh and hot. They gave us red and green salsas. They were good. Husband ordered fries. They were good and fresh. They cook to order, so everything was fresh and hot. The workers were very happy to serve. Didn't eat inside. I would recommend this place.

    Chile Verde burrito

Randomly came by here while charging the vehicle. Decided to get some breakfast. Ordered: 1) Chile verde burrito with wet sauce , add $1.50 to make it wet which means cheese and green sauce on top - this was delicious! 2) carne asada burrito - kiddo only finished half 3) menudo soup - husband loved this and big portion 4) chilaquiles with 2 eggs - husband enjoyed this 5) french fries - a big plate for $3.50

Perfect stop on your way to Vegas. Use the restroom, stretch your legs. Lots of food & drink options. The carne asada fries were large portions. Fish taco was also delicious. Staff super friendly. And service was very fast.

i thought this place was cute & gave it a chance but everything went downhill…read more i overpaid, the service was slow, and the food was wrong & mediocre i'm passing through barstow from vegas to cali & wanted a breakfast that wasn't fast food, so i looked online & found los domingos and saw the menu online as well. firstly i ordered takeout & told the cashier i was using the online menu, & she said okay. i ordered the chorizo & eggs burrito and the new mexico chicken enchiladas. on the website, these are 6.99 each, so that's what i assumed it was. she never told me the price, never read my order back to me, & didn't offer me to look at the physical menu. it should be reasonable i'm shocked that my receipt & card was charged $30+ when i was under the assumption each item was 6.99 plus tax. next, our server also told us it was a 10 minute wait. cool! we ordered at 8:19, but our food was not done until 8:50. 30 minute wait for 2 dishes. it wasn't even busy so i don't know why it took so long. this was very disappointing as we were on a trip, and now we were 20-30 minutes behind. if i had known it was gonna be a 30 minute wait initially i would've ordered somewhere else. my burrito came with beans after i specifically ordered the one without beans. and my girlfriend's enchilada chicken looked pink & questionable. i guess all i can say is the potatoes were good. i called the store after i left to ask how much each item was, & all they could say was the online website is outdated. how was i supposed to know that, and why did they never tell me my total & just charged my card? also sucks that the receipt doesnt tell me already how much each item was, just the total. the girl also initially gave me my food & said have a good day without charging me, but i was honest & said oh i didnt pay yet. i wish i never paid & i wish i never stopped here. would've rather got mcdonalds at this point.
