Considered one of the best Italian restaurants in FR, but sadly can't compare to those in NOVA let alone New York. Kudos for very cheap prices and large quantities. The eggplant parmigiana was a bit soggy and didn't have much texture and the pizza crust was ok but a bit thick. The fries were coated with batter or something- did not like them at all. We have ordered from here several times for pizza and delivery of other foods, but we have never eaten in and we loved it! Loved the service the time it took to get our food could have been stretched out a bit. Everything from the wine to the ex entree's were delicious. Seated immediately, friendly staff. Went for lunch while visiting dad. Not overly crowded on a Sunday midafternoon. Casual atmosphere with an Italian theme. We have had a few meals here, never to sit always to go or delivery. Great cheese steaks, and the pesto pizza has amazing flavor. After the somewhat dry chicken I substitute with mushrooms and go vegan. The flavor is great as well as the price. This evening (night before a snow storm and the other pizza place in town had a gas leak) The restaurant was pretty much slammed with walk ins to dine, to go and pick ups. The service was still great, the young ladies behind the counter kept things moving smoothly, patrons were getting up to get the door for people carrying too much. Castiglias was my absolute favorite pizza place in Front Royal when I went to school there about 10 years ago. I remember always ordering a large pizza and finishing it all by myself. However, when I came back just recently, I must say that the pizza is not as good as I remember. I feel like the dough is thicker (I really liked it thin) and the taste just isn't the same. It's still decent but doesn't hit. A plus is it came out freshly made. Spaghetti is alright. The star was definitely the meatballs, sooo yummm. It felt homemade and quality. The portions were hugee so it's worth the money. The Caesar salad was good too! Bread was ok. Service was great and felt homey. They expanded the space and I liked the art in the wall. First visit. Really good food - and so much of it ! There is no way you can eat a full serving. I had the chicken rustica, and it was very flavourful. We had Castiglia's cater our daughter's wedding rehearsal dinner. The food was AMAZING, and the desserts (especially the tiramisu) were the best I've ever had. We live close to Castiglia's but hadn't been by in over 5 years due to not being happy with quality of food. We decided to try it again yesterday. The restaurant has been remodeled, menu quite extensive and our salads were delicious ; all positives. We went there for the Pizza however and that was the downfall. The Crust was flat with no taste, cheese was OK, and the pizza sauce extremely sour. We were extremely disappointed as I could buy a pizza at the grocery store better than this. I'm not sure if Castiglia's uses cheaper ingredients but honestly to find good pizza elsewhere is not hard to do. I'm not sure how they can continue to serve this subpar disappointment. read more

Stopped by with my family for lunch last week, we all agreed it was all so very good that it would be a regular stop in while visiting Front Royal. My son ordered the steak & cheese sub & fries, he said it was his new favorite steak & cheese spot. I Ordered a chef salad, it was very fresh plus it was huge especially for the price! My fiancé ordered the steak Stromboli & he had so much left over took it to lunch with him the next day. My mother ordered the chicken parmigiana & she said it was so hot she could barely eat it, which is a great compliment from her! The restaurant was very clean & even though they were busy our waitress was incredibly attentive to each of our needs & was very polite. read more

Recently renovated and the food is even better. They have doubled in space. They have a new summer salad that my wife loves. I really enjoy the works-boli. I get the small, and I only eat half and eat the other half as leftover. It actually reheats very well. read more

While in the area, we decided to stop in here for dinner and to meet up with old friends. The staff was decent, not overly friendly, but not rude. The place looked like a typical pizza joint with worn décor. The menu is typical of many pizza/pasta places as well. They have wine and beer. Salad was just a mix of very basic greens (ice berg) and white onions, as well as a couple black olives. The waitress said they don't make any dressings in-house, so it came with basic bottled dressing. Arrabiatta had a decent sauce, the bacon in it was diced perfectly. The pasta that it came with was ay over-cooked and nearly falling apart, so it gave a poor texture to the dish. The bread that accompanied was stale and dry, but did have a slight garlic flavor. Nothing special... But the pizzas we saw coming out did look decent. read more

Super food in an old family style restaurant. Stopped in for dinner during our vacation, hoping to get a great Alfredo. We weren't disappointed at all! Great family ran business with amazing classic Italian cuisine. We had the Alfredo a few different ways and the Puttanesca. Garlic knots made from scratch and hand made canolis made the meal complete. Waitstaff was amazing and dinner was served in a flash. If you're looking for Olive Garden, skip this place, but if you like dishes reminiscent of the old neighborhood Italian joints, look no further! read more

With the COVID going on, I completely understand how it may be frustrating to try their best to please their customers. However, since my family was in town and was looking for a small, affordable place to dine in, we decided to eat here. On the front of the window said, "No mask, no entry" (like all other places should) Upon entering, the woman who was managing phone calls in the front had her mask below her chin. I thought she probably had it down to speak on the phone clearly. But she continued to have her mask down and walked around the restaurant. That's an employee not following safety protocols... Our server was friendly and no issues regarding her. As we were waiting for our order to arrive at our table, more customers walked in, BUT no masks on at all. Two managed to talk to the woman at the front and that staff hasn't enforced their "no mask, no entry" policy. I think this place doesn't care about other people's safety and act like we don't have a pandemic going on. Food was crap. "Made to order" when the clam chowder clearly came from a can and microwaved. Spaghetti with meatball wasn't appealing. Who puts dried parsley leaves on the rim of the plate and not on the food itself? The meatballs tasted funny. My family ordered pizza and you could clearly tell that the bread was not fully cooked and it became soggy from the toppings. read more

They have gluten free pasta and idk if they normally have gluten free sub rolls but they did tonight and if you are trying to find gluten free options here in front royal you know how hard it can be.
