Ate there Saturday night. Was looking for a place with sunset views. The patio there does not face the beach and you will not be able to see sunset. We asked to sit on patio facing air water but were told the whole place was reserved. They say us on the side patio which has no breeze at all and was so hot you couldn't eat there. They did accommodate us inside. However during entire dinner we were there no tables showed up to eat outside on patio facing the water and a table that was sat on side patio near us before we moved asked to move to water facing patio and was moved. So not sure why they told us we couldn't and that it was all booked. Had ceviche. Came in bowl about the size of tuna fish can. No crackers or wafers which is always how I've eaten ceviche. Over all bland. Had a tostada app with pulled rib meat. Very overpowering sauce. It comes with three on plate we ate half of one. I order a $49 filet mignon. Medium. It came out and was about half and inch thick and mostly medium well to well. It was for sure not a filet. And may have been a ribeye. It just wasn't a good cut of meat or flavored well especially for the cost. It also had some fingering potato's with greens that were kind of strange tasting. Ambience was ok. They had a lounge singer who was good. But the overall cost of dinner with poor flavor and cut of meat would not really make me come back. Our service was good and attendant was attentive. read more

Due to our horrific experience at this budget hotel we were told by management that we would have dinner here taken care of . Upon arrival the hostess was a complete bitch for lack of better words . We reluctantly took our seat and as we sat she insisted on making a few extremely uncalled for bitchy statement to which my husband and I decided I leave immediately. It's pretty sad that we would not even eat here for free . Several ceviches ordered tuna/shrimp and conch with different preps, shared and enjoyed. Entrées were orderd and enjoyed. The wine list was being updated but it was a guessing game to pick one. Select a wine, order it, have the server return saying we no longer carry that, then repeat x 4!!. Just cross out the wines you don't carry on the list, easier for everyone. I love this place! We are visiting from NYC and traveled down to St Pete while they are having their own cold snap. We requested to be seated outdoors due to covid concerns but it was rather cold and windy. The staff was very accommodating with a choice of heat lamps for us or be seated in a low volume area inside, and we chose the latter. The food was amazing and my favorite was the octopus off the tapas menu. We also were celebrating my wife's birthday and at the end of our meal we were bought a complimentary dessert. There are two types of reviews I look forward to - the "I'm going to kill this restaurant once I get back on yelp because this place sucked" kind of review (I'm not good at naming things), and the "5-star oh my lord this was terrific" review. This is the latter. Castile is a nice restaurant situated in the Hotel Zamora on St. Pete Beach, maybe 1/4 mile north from the Don Cesar. It is a boutique hotel with a rooftop bar and this restaurant. Our plan was to watch the sunset from their rooftop bar, but it was closed at this hour on Sunday (8:15). No matter, we sat on the patio overlooking the pool area and enjoyed the outdoors. Granted, it was a hot and humid Florida summer evening, but at least that means my girlfriend gets to enjoy me sweating the whole time, and we all know how appetizing that can be. Okay, moving on...It is a very nice restaurant from the ambiance perspective. Can be romantic, minus the sweat factor, and would be good for a group as well. On the fancier side, but this is Florida at the beach, so fancy equals khaki shorts instead of cargo shorts and only your Sunday best sandals, too. If there was anything bad, besides my girlfriend having to deal with my sweat, and her entree not being as tasty as mine, it would be our service. I can't take off a star for it because the food for me was that good, but it probably deserves 1/2 to a full star less. We were sat, and waited 5-10 minutes to be greeted. Once greeted and told about the menu, the server offered to give us a few minutes, but instead gave us 10+. We ordered from the restaurant week menu and my girlfriend ordered a glass of wine with dinner. Appetizers came out 5-10 minutes later, but still no wine at that point. Finally, we were halfway through our meal when the server asked us if we were brought any bread. All in all, he seemed incredibly disinterested in our table. He was knowledgeable about the menu, but not attentive. Onto the food. We both loved the tuna poke appetizer. It was raw, above sushi-grade tuna served mixed with some minced pickled veggies, like a salsa. A bit spicy, but far from overwhelming. You could have served this in a bowl and i would have eaten it. In fact, you could have served this in a doggie bowl, and I would have gotten down on all fours and devoured it face first. Probably a good thing it was served on the table on a plate. My next course was the roast chicken, which was served over a vegetable ratatouille and a green peppercorn jus. Mouthwatering is the only way to describe it. That, and too small. Seriously, next time, bring me the entire chicken drowning in that sauce. Better yet, drown me in that sauce. Gluttony aside, it was a fine size portion and filling, especially with the appetizer and too-late bread I was using to soak up the extra sauce. Final course was dessert. Chocolate lava cake. Admittedly, not the best chocolate lava cake I have ever had, but it was still very good and frankly, nothing was going to bring this meal down, and certainly not molten chocolate goodness. read more

Spendy but quite good. Nice water views of the intercoastal. Comfortable seating. I liked the mussels with a leek, grapefruit and smbucca cream sauce. The ciabatta bread was good although the paprika butter didn't do much for me. I ate the bread with the mussel sauce instead. ;) The salad we has was pretty good with goat cheese, nuts and such. My chimichurri steak was decent and approoriatey. Needed to be marinated in a more flavorful way to make it more flavorful. The rack of lamb was smallish (not a full rack..) but pretty good. Came with a cherry plum sauce. Not the best meal I've had and pretty spendy but I liked everything we had and the ambience is pretty nice. :) Service was pretty good too. read more

Maybe my wife and I just don't get it? Food level might just be over our head but here's a run down of dishes we tried. Burrata- was made without tomatoes. Not sure why you made that change but not good. We usually love this dish; our favorite. Mussels- good but really spicy, one of the better dishes. However wife got sick due to the heat. Short rib entree- excellent beef, short rib was cooked perfectly but the accompanying veggie was cut to bits; had no flavor and didn't compliment the dish. Chocolate torte- was so sticky and gooey making the texture unpleasant; flavor was fair. Again maybe the spin they put on the dishes weren't for us but they were so overworked they weren't appetizing. read more

For my 31st Wedding Anniversary trip with the wife, I had high hopes that this would be a good restaurant but was disappointed. When we walked in the only patrons were maybe 6 at the bar watching football on big screen TVs. That was curious to me as the restaurant made sure to explain the dress code on the phone. We were seated outside on a rear patio facing a small bay and residential homes. We could see a roof top restaurant/bar from our hotel, Don Cesar, and mistakenly thought that was the Castile. The host asked if we were celebrating any special occasions and I responded with "our 31st Anniversary". Shortly after being seated, we were presented with 2 glasses of champagne. We did not order them. I thought it was a nice gesture until the bill came and they charged us for the champagne that we did not order. We both ordered Caesar salads to start. I ordered Wahoo. It was ok. Too thickly cut for Wahoo. My wife got the scallops appetizer foe her dinner. 2 scallops for $22 was a little steep I should think unless I'm sitting in a 4-5star in NYC. Now the orange chocolate tart was superb!! I also find it curious how grey goose vodka and tonic is $12 each and Kettle One and soda is $10 each. My friend and I are in from Michigan and heard about this place. We sat outside and it was very chilly but we came prepared with blankets and we also had two heaters. We didn't want to sit inside due to the pandemic and being safe. We had the coliflor off the Tapas menu for an appetizer and it was very tasty and had a kick to it but very good. I ordered the fresh catch which was a black grouper over black squid pasta with mushrooms and it was very good. My friend ordered the braised short ribs and this was probably the best short rib ever. There was plenty of it. I would definitely recommend this piece of meat. Our waiter Jason was on top of things and I do not remember the name of the lady who was bringing out the meals but she was outstanding and always checking on us to see if we were doing ok and comfortable. We also had an old fashion and the bartender made one of the best I ever drank. Please check this place out - you won't be disappointed. We will be back when the weather is nicer and we can enjoy the warmth. read more

We stayed at the hotel and ate here for thanksgiving dinner. I have to say the food was much better than I expected. My only complaint would be that our orders came out within 10 minutes of ordering and while the actual plate was hot, some of the food was cold. 2 Turkey dinners @ $26 each, 2 drinks + plus the added 18% gratuity was exactly $100. A truly wonderful meal. Since I was there with a large group, I was able to try several different meals. I had the grouper cheeks and the person next to me had the beef tenderloin. I also tried the pork loin special. Each of these was fantastic. Since it is on the slightly more expensive side, this quality is to be expected but everyone there was incredibly happy. The only (slight) negatives were that the room is somewhat loud and the wine selections don't measure up to the quality of everything else. There should absolutely be some higher quality and more well known wines available. (Note to management) . . . Stop trying to find "sleeper" (inexpensive) wines to increase the margins and step up to buy truly great wines. People paying $30 - $40 an entrée don't mind paying $15+ for a really good wine by the glass. At least have 1 or 2 high end options for each category. Let me add that the rooftop bar is a huge bonus. Please go up to the roof either before or after dinner. You won't regret it. read more

We went to the rooftop for drinks and their tapas menu. The view was great and we were excited to find what we hoped would be a great new spot. It was just plain awful. The grouper tacos were terrible and the grouper nuggets were cold and rubbery. Not even edible. There were three in our party. We ordered a drink each and 2 tapas and our bill was $100! We had planned on having dinner in the restaurant but ended up leaving. We told the hostess, manager and bartender but nobody cared enough to even apologize. We are not picky and don't mind spending money on good food but this was just unacceptable. Maybe it's the new ownership and in transition but it was really bad. Don't waste your money read more

We have eaten here several time now and Chef Louis and his team do a wonderful job every visit. The food is delicious and I have yet to try something I didn't like. With each visit we like to try something new. Often we order the specials but all the dishes are creative, beautifully prepared with fresh ingredients and are a delight to eat. From the main menu, we really enjoy the grilled octopus, the beet salad, the pear salad, the cast iron tenderloin and the sea bass. The service is also on point. A couple shout outs for great service: Lucy, the director of operations for the restaurant, always stops by the table to make sure everything is going well and that we are satisfied and Ivy, our server, is wonderful and never fails to guide us to great food and drink pairings. My husband and I were looking for somewhere here to enjoy dinner on New Years Day and decided to try Castille. We have visited the rooftop bar multiple times in the past but had never made it here for dinner. I was able to quickly make a reservation on the Open Table app which was nice. There is complimentary valet parking available upon arrival to the hotel. We had the choice of indoor or outdoor seating, we chose indoor due to weather. We were seated and were quickly asked about our drink choices with enough time to browse the menu. I had the Rum Punch which was delicious and refreshing and my husband enjoyed the Ginger Smash. We also did the bacon wrapped dates as a starter. It was served with 4 of them and they were quite good! Our meals came out and were fantastic. I was convinced to give this place another try because they have a new Chef as of last year. I must say I left way more impressed this time than last time! Our waiter was attentive and friendly. He checked on all gluten free items that I needed. He had us sold on the Chef's specials of the day which were Blackened red fish and a dry rubbed steak. My main complaint the first time was that I liked the restaurant, but all the food was bland and unseasoned. This was not the case this time! I had the blackened fish and saffron rice and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly! It was a decent amount of food and I got to take some home and enjoy it again. The steak dish was also cooked perfectly. The only thing that was just terrible was the cesar salad. It has canned anchovies in it and the look hideous, they contained bones, and they are incredibly salty. The anchovies made the salad inedible for me and I didn't even finish it. If you use uncanned the salad will be so much better. Other than that the meal would have been perfect! The pricing was fair and we came out under $200.00 and I had leftovers. Came out for a birthday dinner. Five girls. Ready to spend money and enjoy our night. Our server was very nice and professional. Nice atmosphere. Drinks were good but slow to come out. My sister, the birthday girl, ordered a filet for her meal. We had to encourage her to order the $45 filet because she normally doesn't order the "expensive steak". She wanted her steak medium well. It came out once.....medium rare.... at best. She sent it back. It came back.... still medium rare. She sent it back. They made an entire new steak, which took WAY too long. And it came out again medium rare. Not sure if that was the manager but he watched my sister cut it open and agreed that it was undercooked AGAIN. So much for a nice birthday dinner. Very sorry we decided to come here for dinner. My sister didn't even get to eat dinner. Very VERY upset! read more

This restaurant is perfection. The food is excellent, beautifully presented and fairly priced. We especially enjoyed the pulpo (octopus) and the scallops. We've had octopus in many places in Tampa Bay and octopus at Castile was far superior and comparable to the better octopus we've eaten in Greece. In these Covid times, this restaurant is very safe. Well spread out clean tables. No unnecessary exposures from staff or other guests. We ate outside but looked at the inside dining situation which is also safely distanced. Our dinner at Castile was amazing! We ordered the Cauliflower Salad, Lamb Meatballs, Octopus, and Pimento Goat Cheese. These were on the tapas menu. Everything was amazing. Chef Nicolas Lebas has carefully crafted an exquisite menu. Full of flavor and perfectly cooked food. The octopus was especially impressive. It's not an easy protein to get right. The hubs loved the lamb, and asked for couscous to be added to our meal rotation. For the portions and the level of skill, amazing value! It was less than 50$ for all of this food. read more

We chose Castile for a wedding reception dinner, the sort of dinner where everyone was in such good spirits, it would have been difficult to complain about anything. And to be clear, we left in good spirits, too. But it was not thanks to the awful (approaching hostile) service that we received from nearly every member of the front-of-house staff. We were ignored by the hostess upon arrival, and reminded pretty much as we sat down, and every ten minutes thereafter to order food as soon as possible. It was a sign of things to come. Heaven help you if you order food too close to the kitchen close time of 10 p.m. I think that was our first offense. The server kicked our chairs while serving, slammed plates down, made passive-aggressive comments while serving, clattered dishes during conversation and sloshed water and ice all over our table. My advice? If you want to close the kitchen, then close the kitchen. Sadly, the food was pretty good, hence the review is not a single star. I can't recommend this restaurant based on my experience, though. There are plenty of other places around the beach for a good chunk of salmon. Literally, go anywhere else. read more

Great ambiance in the restaurant! The service was very friendly and attentive. My grouper was amazing, the ribeye was okay. Fried cauliflower app and burrata app were also good! Finished with the Rosemary creme brûlée and it was good! Their wine list by the glass was just okay but their bottle list was better.
