Had such a great experience at Middle Grounds Grill! I ordered the Mango Nut Crusted Grouper and WOW it was absolutely delicious. The fish was fresh and perfectly cooked, and the mango nut crust gave it such an amazing flavor. They also had live music when I went on Tuesday, which made the atmosphere even more fun and relaxing. Make sure to ask for the free bread because it was SO good too! And don't skip dessert because the Pineapple Upside Down Cake was amazing. Definitely recommend checking this place out! What I ordered: - Mango Nut Crusted Grouper Fresh Florida Grouper crusted with macadamia, pistachio, and walnuts with a Mango Beurre Blanc & coconut basmati rice. (MUST ORDER) - Pineapple Upside Down Cake: Fluffy golden cake, glazed pineapple topped with candied pecans and a pineapple Irish cream rum sauce.

Wow! What a great find. The food is fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared, with a menu that offers something for everyone. The service was warm, attentive, and professional, making every visit enjoyable. A special highlight is Wine Down Wednesday, where bottles of wine priced under $200 are half off. It's a fantastic opportunity to enjoy an exceptional wine selection at an incredible value while pairing it with a great meal. Between the outstanding food, excellent service, and unbeatable wine special, Middle Grounds is a restaurant we highly recommend.

Week night dinner and place was full. A good sign that the food is good. With valet parking it starts with an upscale experience but then you look around the room and no one is dressed for a nice dinner. I guess this is Florida casual at its best. I ordered the sea bass special. The fish was cooked well and the presentation was lacking. A heaping splash of greenery all over the plate does not count as added culinary skills. The service was good but no one checked in with me after being served and I would have requested another glass of wine. I did elect to have a dessert, cheese cake with berries. Just a slice of a mass produced purchased product brought into the restaurant. Overall good, but needs some work on the fundamentals of added or layered flavors, sauces, and presentations.

This has been our anniversary spot for years now but this last time didn't hit the same. We started off with the portobello Oscar which was light on crab and not worth $18. I was expecting lump crab but it was shredded with a lot of veg mixed in. We both got the mango Nut Grouper ($52 each) which has always been our favorite, but tonight it seemed not as special. I remember the crust being nuttier and the fish more flavorful. The fish seemed a little dry and may have been a little overcooked. The mango burre blanc sauce itself, is delicious and I'd happily eat it on a stick if they offered it. Though we agreed $52 seemed overpriced, especially because the grouper didn't seem as fresh tonight. For dessert we shared the key lime tower which we both really enjoyed. It was rich key lime custard between buttery lace cookies (like thin nut crisps).

The service was impeccable and the grouper was so good! I was a little off a skeptic at first because when you walk in it's dark and dingy bar, but when you walk into the restaurant it's a very different vibe. The ahi appetizer was good, but the grouper was worth the visit! Go get it!

We stopped in last minute for Christmas Eve. The staff was fantastic at finding room for us. The wait staff was great, very friendly. The food was amazing, fresh, and reasonably fast to our table. It was a great experience and worth a visit.

Excellent bar service from Dave! Very attentive but not overbearing. Mussels were delicious as was the homemade bread. I had the vegetarian pasta and my husband had the steak. He said it was one of the best he's had and he knows his steak!! We arrived on the early side as we had not eaten since breakfast and what a treat to see so many other diners enjoying the bar vibe. We also were told by Dave that many items and drinks were discounted because of their early bird special pricing! We wishee'd discovered this restaurant at the beginning of our vacation instead of our last night on Treasure Island. Parking free and plentiful!

My family and I love it here! We visit every time we travel to St. Pete's! The grouper was amazing (although pricey) and the fried cheesecake was out of this world. Our server, Tommy, was great!

The food and service were excellent! We chose to eat out on the patio, the restaurant is very nice inside but also very dark.

    Scallops

Fantastic grouper and scallops. Half our group ordered the Mango Nut Grouper and we were scraping our plates. The scallops were perfectly cooked. Ahi tuna and conch fritter appetizers were excellent, not fishy at all. Even the desserts were excellent, though the pancakes were mostly whipped cream. Worth the cost!! Unassuming place from outside and not waterfront but absolutely worth the visit as a visitor to the area.

The best meal we've had, end to end, in a long time. Outstanding service. Outstanding food. Gotta love 1/2 price bottles of wine on Wednesday nights. Always, there is something that I can pick apart and critique when I go out to eat. Not this time. Truly. Fabulous. Oh, and did I mention that they know how to make a damn good and authentic béarnaise? Oh my.

Perhaps we tried the wrong things, but we were hungry (which usually increases the appreciation for the food), and our choices ranged from not good to good. The dip appetizer- Not good. It was the crab dip with seasoned cheez-it shaped crackers. The crab did not have good flavor and the crackers were over salted. Wasn't a good balance for my taste buds. Didn't eat most of it. The oysters appetizer- Good. They were fresh which is ALWAYS appreciated. I didnt like that the shells weren't rinsed, which led to alot of shell in my slurps and the actual oyster sizes ranged from normal to small. One was almost tiny. My main meal- Good. I had the special...a Blackened Hogfish stuffed with crab and scallops. The fish on it's own was ok, but the bites with the stuffing as the whole were good. The rice and beans along with it were cooked perfectly. My friend had the Blackened Grouper and enjoyed it thoroughly. Desserts- Very Good- 50/50. The Coconut Cheesecake was absolutely DELICIOUS, definitely homemade. The Chocolate Cheesecake was just ok, but killed the sweet treat itch. Ambiance- Tranquil. If you're looking for beautiful scenery while eating pretty good food out on the patio area, this is it. The main dining area upstairs was a typical old seafood diner type vibe. The bathrooms are also located upstairs. Service was informative and attentive. It wasn't the best seafood I've had, but I'd definitely come back for the view. Pricing was fair. Check them out!

This is the kind of place that feels like it's been around forever, in the best way. Spacious for the area, lively without being chaotic, and backed by attentive service that keeps things moving even when it's busy. The menu is extensive, and then just when you think you've seen it all, there's a specials board tucked away with even more to choose from. If you can time your visit right, Tuesday is the move. They run a buy one pound, get one pound half off deal on snow crab legs, and it's easily one of the best values around. The snow crab legs are fresh and satisfying, and the Dungeness crab holds its own as well. Both pair perfectly with their rich, drawn butter, simple but done right. Portion sizes here are no joke. The shrimp skewers are almost excessive in the best way. Three skewers loaded with roughly eight shrimp each, so you're looking at around two dozen shrimp total, all a solid medium-large size. It's the kind of dish that makes you pause when it hits the table. The shrimp pasta is another standout and clearly a house favorite. It's packed with flavor and easily one of the more memorable dishes on the menu. Good enough that ordering a second one to-go actually makes sense. The clam chowder, though, was the one miss. While it's loaded with plenty of clam meat and has a hearty base, there's a slightly smoky flavor that throws it off. If you're a chowder fan, it might not hit the mark. Probably something to skip next time. As for the crab cakes, they passed a pretty tough test. A Maryland native at the table gave them a strong approval, which says a lot. Pro tip: Get there early, ideally around lunch, if you want to lock in that snow crab deal. It's popular, and you don't want to risk missing out. Overall, this is a reliable, crowd-pleasing seafood spot that leans into big portions, solid execution, and a relaxed coastal vibe. Whether you're a local or just visiting St. Pete Beach, it's an easy recommendation and definitely worth a return trip.

Although the restaurant has beautiful waterfront seating, we chose to sit inside since it was very hot outside. We started with the Louisiana Seafood Gumbo (bowl, $13.97), which was delicious. The Chicken Wings ($13.89 for 6 pieces) were outstanding and crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. They were definitely my favorite dish of the meal. We also tried the Shrimp-N-Grits ($27.97), which was a unique combination of Argentine red shrimp, creamy cheese grits, sausage, tomatoes, scallions, and other ingredients. It was flavorful and different from anything we've had before. The Jambalaya ($21.93) was just okay. It had plenty of ingredients, but it was a little too salty for my taste. The service was excellent, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The restaurant also has a full bar and, I believe, live music in the evenings, making it a great place to relax. The batter was light, crispy, and delicious. Our kids ordered the bacon cheese fries and loved them. Just a heads-up: they use a nacho cheese sauce rather than shredded cheese, which some people may prefer to know ahead of time. Our friend from Massachusetts ordered the lobster sub (also market price) and said it was worth every penny. My husband and I split the grouper nuggets and the Philly cheesesteak. The bread is brought in from up north, and our server's recommendation did not disappoint. The sandwich was rich, flavorful, and one of the highlights of the meal. We also tried the onion rings. They use a beer batter, which wasn't our favorite, but that's more of a personal preference than a criticism. Overall, we'd definitely return if we're in the area again. The only downside was parking--$29.99 for two hours is pretty brutal. Thankfully, the food and atmosphere helped make up for it.

Wow. I expected more from a place rated 4 stars. To be…read morespecific we went to the beach bar because the restaurant wasn't open yet. The very first issue was parking. Parking is minimum $50 a day + fees. A cocktail? For an hour? Haha no. I'm being mildly disingenuous. The bar staff (and likely restaurant staff) will give you a QR code to validate all $58 of your parking. But it made me acutely miss a time when you could just park and patronize an establishment. Just don't forget to validate your parking, cuz they sure didn't ask preemptively. They were celebrating a 3-day grand reopening when we went on Saturday. There was *one* artisan in their market space. The music was pumping loud enough to not be able to converse. Although it drew a crowd of younger folks, there was not much to behold from the "grand" reopening. Not even s cost of paint. The beach bar may not have been part of the sprucing up idk, I didn't see anything worth celebrating. I meant to look at the size of the cocktail cup that we got (small), but $13-14 for a cocktail is highway robbery for the end result. And $18 for 6 wings ($3 a wing) was a little disappointing. I expected better of a Hilton adjoined restaurant. No one part was terrible. It was just the way they matched up - loud, expensive, small portions. If you're loud maybe you're cheap and tasty. If you're expensive, maybe you're fast and delicious. This was all the worst parts of a bar that doesn't care about its patrons' economics. A bar that wants to serve tourists with mediocrity and move on to the next crop of people who will never be there again. If you're a tourist it'll probably be fine, if overpriced. If you're a local, don't bother. To be fair, we should ask if there was anything good. hm ... no. We won't be returning. 3 stars is probably generous.

There were hardly any cars or people sitting outside. Then a server opened the door...and at around 7pm we found the spot kinda empty. Good or bad sign? They sat us down and looked at the menu. It looked good but didn't see much variety. It was much higher type of seafood dishes and beef options. We did come here bc of a reservation so we went further. We chose the mussels in a tomato sauce as appetizers to begin. We ordered the Pinot Grigio and unfortunately I had to send mine glass back bc it just wasn't a good wine. Had to ask for more bread bc you can't give me mussels with a great sauce and not use bread to finish it. They were good size mussels. We shared the entree which was the seafood pappardelle pasta in a cream sauce which had lobster, shrimp, and scallops. The sauce was good but they must have salted the pasta a bit too much which def made the dish richer. The service was good, but for the prices here you'd expect something more since the server did not know about the sauces and how things were prepared. Kinda of a bummer when she had to go back to the chef to ask. But it seemed everything was just higher in price. Overall it was ok. Just for the prices, you expect the food to be exceptional. Things just didn't align.
