The casual restaurant located next to the pool at The Don Cesar Hotel. It's convenient for guests and offers a nice selection of seafood dishes. The pizza, pasta, and burgers didn't look to be very appetizing. For a safe dish, I recommend the crab cakes. This may be the best item on their menu. Crispy edges, nice remoulade, and frisee salad. The restaurant inside is pretty dated and the bar had a really unpleasant smell, like chemicals from a hair salon. There is some major renovation happening on the patio, so I'm hoping to return to something fabulous to match the reputation of the hotel. read more

During our stay at the Don CeSar we made reservations at Society table. You have the option to choose indoor or outdoor dining, we choose outdoor to enjoy the night breeze and beautiful views of the pink palace. We had a later in the evening reservation so we were ready to eat by the time we sat down but service was quick and the food came out shortly after. I ordered the American Red Snapper that was absolutely delish and very filling. My husband ordered the Whiskey Barbecue burger which he enjoyed as well. Out of the two main restaurants on the property, this and Maritana, we had a better experience at Society table in terms of the food selection, taste, portion size and of course the outside view. Had breakfast with family. It's Easter break so we made sure to make a reservation. We walked up and was greeted right away. The pleasant hostess walked us to our table. We opted for outside and the weather was perfect. Our waitress came right away. Told us about the buffet if we wanted or we could do the menu. She was so sweet and friendly. We got our drinks and orders in. Drinks were great. My 10yr old got the buffet. She loved the fresh baked croissants. What we ordered- Chicken & Biscuit, Biscuit & Gravy, Smoked Brisket & Eggs, and Ranchero. We had a great experience at the Society Table while staying at The Don. Our dinner and drinks were great and the night was cool and perfect for sitting outside at the tables. The next day for breakfast we had great food and lattes. I do think the breakfast items are overpriced for what you get but it's The Don - what do you expect. What a gorgeous place The Don Cesar is... everything on the downstairs level and the main lobby is decorated for Christmas, it's a beautiful way to activate your 'festive feels'. A group of us decided on Society Table for our brunch and holiday gift exchange... the menu is a bit limited compared to upstairs but the food is consistently good. The service was fabulous... Hostess sat us quickly and made sure that we were satisfied with the table. Ambiance was neat and upscale. Menu had sufficient variety. There were 2 vegan options which was good. We ordered 2 dishes from the kids menu. Portions were definitely kid-sized. Nothing out of this world. But the kids were satisfied. The other dish that was ordered was the chicken skewers, which are served over rice and beans, with some plantains on the side. Chicken skewers were a bit over cooked and dry. Rice was cooked appropriately. Beans were disgusting. Tasted like they added liquid smoke and over seasoned. And then the entire dish was smothered in a green salsa that was so spicy that nothing could survive. When the assistant wait staff took away the dish, which was pretty much untouched, they just said thank you. Then the server brought the check. No one bothered to ask how the meal was. Had dinner with family earlier today. The Don Cesar Hotel is a lovely property on arguably America's best beach - St Pete Beach. Great pool and seaside service, ample chairs and towels. Very clean and smells great. The restaurant however is a disappointment. Had a totally unappealing Caesar salad with a piece of bread bathed is a green sauce but no croutons. Tasted of anchovy paste and cheap cheese. We had red snapper which was well cooked but the Thai sauce was overly spiced and would have wiped away the taste of one of the tastiest fish in Florida. Finally, one of our plates wasn't clean. This food was totally inconsistent with the beauty and elegance of the property. read more

We had reservations at 7pm last night and looked forward to a great night. We were not staying at the hotel so to our surprise they charge 38 dollars for valet even for dinner. While I could understand that is the daily rate for hotel guests since self park is not an option, dining guest should be able to dine and get a voucher for some kind of discount on parking. It's no wonder the reservation on Resy showed every time a lot available. We left and went to Malios Beach House and had the best dinner. Need to reconsider Don if you want your dining area filled. read more

Nice little breakfast spot in the Don Caesar. I originally had to send the egg white omelette back because it was too greasy but the restaurant really was responsive and handled remaking my food eloquently I ended up having bacon and scrambled eggs which was good. Food is average to below average. It's a good selection, but the flavor and execution are lacking. Chicken was dry, the special with pappardelle in alfredo was too wet, tasted more like soup. Ambiance is upscale. Service is excellent. Nikki was friendly and even offered tips to the surrounding area. The Society Table Restaurant was formerly known as The Sea Porch and is an outdoor and indoor poolside restaurant on the first floor of the north wing of the Don Cesar Resort, aka the Pink Palace of St Pete Beach! The Society Table serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a casual but upscale resort setting with a great view of the beautiful resorts pink palace style architecture, pool, palm trees, and partial view of the beach. The Society Table is an ideal spot to catch a nice sunset while witnessing memorizing pool reflections of the palm trees, colors of the sky, and the sunset! The Double Cheeseburger came with thick cut bacon, pimento cheese, Bourbon onion jam, on a brioche Hun with French fries. The Burger was huge and not too dry. 8/10 The Seared Scallops came with 4 huge scallops and charred corn, bacon, scallion, brown butter. The scallops were well Marinated and tasty. 8/10 The Whole Branzino came with a huge branzino Fish that hung off both sides of the plate, grilled asparagus, confit tomato, roasted potato, lemon thyme vinaigrette. This is a very filling meal and not a fish you can find at many restaurants. However, you do have to be very careful for bones! 9/10 The Seared Gulf Grouper is a locally caught favorite which came with parmesan herb risotto, melted leeks, zucchini, & shrimp butter sauce. 9/10 Our service was on the slow side but we had a large party of 6. Our dinner party took about 2.5 hours start to finish but it was time well spent. If you're in the St Pete Beach Area and not in a hurry, I highly recommend visting the Society Table for a nice sunset and dinner! read more

Sad that the Signature Concoctions aren't fresh fruit ingredients. That would make the drink feel like a premium experience, the sugar syrups kill the taste of a tropical drink. This is the most historic resort on the beach, details should matter. But the space is great and the staff helps make the experience with a good menu read more

I booked a solo weekend at the Don to reset and recharge before the new year (separate review for the Don Cesar as a whole later). This is one of the few restaurants on site at the Don. I liked that I didn't need to leave the hotel/resort. Conveniently located. Important to note on two of my three visits to this restaurant we were one of the only parties there. The good: The food is good. The food gets 4.5 stars. I was pleasantly surprised! The host station was prompt, friendly and answered some questions I had regarding on site dining. Recommended food items: Goat cheese fritters are probably my favorite thing on the menu. Ribeye, cheeseburger, scallops--all excellent. The flatbreads are not good. Cesar salad leaves much to be desired. Way too much egg. Ambiance is good. Clean. Food runners were good and food came out timely and at the proper temp. They have indoor and outdoor dining. The bad: The wait service is slow. All three times I've been there in the last month. The servers have little to no urgency. Def order water with whatever you normally drink so you don't die of thirst because it'll be a minute. There is lots of room for improvement on the wait staff. I just expected more for it being at The Don Cesar. They were quick to greet and deliver initial drink order but then waited almost 10 minutes for the server to come back to take food orders, bring condiments, refills etc. Grouper sandwich was lacking in flavor, flatbreads are more like a bland salad with bread underneath. Also, Rowe and Society Table are essentially the same restaurant. Why be confusing and have two names...? It just doesn't make sense. Also, the entrance is not clearly marked for Society Table so you end up walking around trying to find it. All in all I'd eat there again. Just wish the servers were more attentive. It was really disappointing. Otherwise it would've been a great experience all around. read more

Beautiful getaway cafe. Located at the legendary Don CeSar, you get to walk through the hotel lobby and go downstairs towards the comforting Sea Porch Cafe. The foods that we ordered whether that be during lunch or during dinner were all incredibly flavorful. For brunch, the portions are pretty generous. One of my favorite lunch options was the blackened fish sandwich, especially since I was by the water. My sandwich wasn't overly blackened and salty and each bite that I took got better tasting as I kept munching. For a cafe by the water, I couldn't not order seafood for my meals. During the dinner, the Seafood Cioppino really brought out a good spice and the swordfish was a light well seasoned meal that filled me up. The Don CeSar is an incredible location and with so much history. After checking out the landmark, I would come to Sea Porch Cafe and rest the legs while enjoying a good meal. read more

I took my husband here for breakfast (his favorite meal of the day) on Fathers Day and we both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our interactions with the staff, from the time I made our reservation by phone to the time we left, were nothing short of stellar. Everyone was incredibly upbeat, friendly & helpful, and our server, Becky was the best! She was engaging, while efficient & personable, and we'd go back just to see her. Oh, and the food was great, too! We were so busy enjoying the pleasant surroundings & people that I neglected to get any close up pix of our meals, but everything was delicious, prepared perfectly and I especially loved the mustard-based sauce on my Eggs Benedict vs the usual calorie-laden hollandaise sauce. To start- I always found the old restaurant pre hurricane and covid to be good and the service fine. I was shocked at the rudeness of the hostess. I arrived for dinner and she acted like she was doing me a favor. What a way to begin the dining experience. The waiter was very nice but the food was subpar. The deviled eggs lacked flavor. Basically just over mayo whipped yolks in the center. No flavor at all. A light and I mean very light sprinkling of Tobiko over top did not make up for it. The tuna tar tare was flavorful but the crispy rice was too thick for the amount of tuna on top. The rest of my meal was just too bland to mention. They need a chef desperately. A REAL CHEF and definitely customer service training for all their employees. Someone needs to act like they are happy that you are patronizing them. My advice - book at either The Helm, Middle Grounds, Sea Worthy Fish Bar, or Sola Bistro if you are staying at the hotel. Go off site until they get their act together. My dinner was $126. We ordered an 2 apps, 2 dinners, 2 salads and a side. Mostly ala carte, if that's spelled correctly. 4th glass of white wine!! Honestly, it's priced like you are in South Beach but you feel like you are in South Beach. If I lived on the beach I would never come here. However, if I'm on vaca and staying here or the Beach Suites down the road...then yes I would come here. It's beautiful out, sunset just finished and I'm seconds from the beach. All is good. Stayed at the Don Cesar for a bachelorette party and decided to (try to) eat here one night. We were unable to be seated the entire night due to being a party of 7, which I recognize is a "large" party, but the restaurant only had two tables with patrons. We offered to split up and be a table of 4 and 3, but that did not compute with host Scott and he couldn't make it work. We ended up sitting at the bar with the most amazing bartender and proceeded to watch more potential customers be turned away from an empty restaurant. I even let Scott know I was sorry all his reservations cancelled, but some wires are definitely not connected up top as he condescendingly stared at me in, what I presume to be complete confusion. The food was good though the menu was small with just one page. If I come back, I'll stick to eating at the pool bar or outside of the hotel as it's quite expensive for what you get, especially since you'll likely not get seated. read more

Friendly staff, but at one point my wife ordered a Starbucks Cold Coffee that she said tasted funny, only to read the expiration date and find that it had expired over a year ago ! Of course the next step was watching them pull out over half a dozen of them that had also expired. I do want to repeat that the staff was really nice and apologetic. I came here for brunch recently and found it to be overpriced and subpar. If you decide to come here for breakfast or brunch, do not get the buffet. Food: we got the buffet which was around $36 per person. At that price, you'd expect plenty of options and higher quality food. Pancakes were made from frozen, bacon and eggs were over cooked, pastries were dry and the equivalent of what I could get from the grocery store. They only had breakfast options. No lunch items available like a typical brunch buffet. The brunch buffet came with one mimosa which was good. Service: the only reason I'm giving two stars is because our server was so wonderful. She was friendly and attentive. She kept our coffees and waters filled throughout the meal. Ambiance: the restaurant was clean and well maintained though it was challenging to find when we initially entered the hotel. If you're looking for a quality brunch buffet, this isn't it. Scallops were amazing with the corn...definitely the best dish that we ordered. Also tried the grouper with risotto, the risotto was top-notch: texture, weight, and taste! Half chicken also was very tender and moist. We finished off our cocktails and wine with espresso martinis for dessert and headed up to the lobby bar for dirty martinis and a glass of limoncello. The espresso martini was very good: balanced and not too strong. Views were stunning, will definitely be returning. And without question, when you are there, you just don't want to leave. With a handful of dining options, Sea Porch stands out as the place for every meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner served here); Just don't expect a whole lot from this place. The food is good, not great or special. And while it offers a decent variety, it simply doesn't wow you-- like the hotel does. Decent food at high prices is not typically a winning combination. But perhaps they know that. They know that people will always want to visit the Don. They know that people will not want to leave the Don to grab a bite to eat...and this trickery worked on us. So when you inevitably go to the Don for a beach weekend, and come to the realization that its simply more convenient to eat at Sea Porch then venture elsewhere, perhaps give these Goat Cheese Fritters a go. Served with basil oil and jalapeño champagne gastric, this appetizer is pretty good- but like I said, the other options just dont live up to the elegant beach side setting.
