Maybe they do good work, but I couldn't even get a reliable appointment. Reached out to them via email and they scheduled me for a "morning appointment" about 3 weeks later. Morning of the appointment I don't hear or see anyone so I call. They tell me "we'll be there by noon, there are two calls ahead of you". I told them my appointment was scheduled almost a month ago, so I'm not sure how two people for ahead of me. They agreed to swap stuff around and came to my house on a Friday. They showed up not ready to do anything. They saw my setup (furnaces in the attic) and said "oh we don't have a ladder to get up there. Do you?". After they walked around they asked if they could come back on Monday instead when "their guy with the right equipment could come". I asked when, they said between 10-10:30, so I agreed. 11am the day of the appointment and no one showed and I never got a call or anything to let me know they were running late, so I called to see what was up. "We're behind because of some calls we got over the weekend". Again, my appointment was booked weeks ago and this was already a rescheduled appointment so not sure how people kept jumping ahead of me. At this point I just asked them to not bother and I would find someone else. I get things happen and people get behind, but some communication would have been nice. I took two separate days off to get this work done and got nothing out of it. read more

Unfortunately (and unknown to them) some wires were stripped, preventing the a/c from cooling down. This company is an example of how to provide customer service. Last night my AC went out I texted Mr Castillo and he walked me through everything he could to try and get my system to cool again. The problem was beyond what I could fix and I requested a service call as soon as possible for my now really warm house. The next my Josh came out and replaced my capacitor and everything is up and running. I have an annual check up on my system and the capacitor was just replaced 3 months ago. But this brutal heat and probably a defective capacitor caused the problem. They are fast super customer service and I highly recommend them. Writing another review to say Willie ROCKS! He came by within hours with crew out sick and on vacation. I have serious health issues so by the time he got here, it was 96 degrees in my home. While I was talking to him outside I felt like I was going to pass out. He helped me inside and made me an ice pack to put around my neck all the while having his own injury. Our air conditioner died during the unseasonably hot fall last year. Willie was on the scene super fast, and even though another HVAC company had come out and said the whole system was shot, Willie diagnosed the problem and came back hours later with a replacement part from his own collection. He warned that it wouldn't last long, and helped me realize our energy bill had been on a steady rise for months because our AC was failing. With the AC temporarily fixed and the pressure off, he patiently worked with us to pick the right system for our house, including telling us we didn't need to waste money on a two-zone system in a house our size (though the other HVAC place was ready to sell us the very expensive option), and helped us work with the city to get approved for an interest free loan to cover the whole thing. Everyone I met from Castillo Services was super helpful. I'll admit I got a little frustrated with the speed of things a couple times (sometimes they could be a little slow to respond to an email/phone call, and the work ended up taking a little while to complete because our attic is barely large enough to house the equipment), but I think that was more my fault. Castillo is a family business, and I don't think it was fair of me to expect them to be as available as some big corporation. AND! Willie called me back from an out of town trip (family emergency) AND a vacation, when we had urgent requests, so he should get extra credit for that kind of responsiveness. For the past 15+ years, my family and I have been using Castillo Services for all our AC needs. When something is wrong with our heating and cooling systems Willie is there and quick to respond. Last time my AC went down Willie was there that same day to give me a portable AC unit (for no charge), so I could survive in this Texas heat until he could get someone there to fix it. This last time I dealt with Willie he replaced my AC unit and enrolled me into the City Energy Weatherization program. Other than a phone call and an email with the bank I did not have to do anything else. It was that simple. Castillo Services handled it all and I am completely satisfied with how it all turned out. I spoke with officer manger,Shelly multiple times. She was responsive to our needs. I also spoke to the owner multiple times; including weekends. He always answered the calls and answered our many questions. I was so impressed with their customer service thus far that I chose them to do our installation. I've used Castillo Services several times over about 15 years. Willie Castillo has generally provided my service personally. Most recently, his son-in-law, Josh, performed the repairs. In each case, the company has displayed proficiency, courtesy, timeliness, and fair pricing, without a hint of an upsell. Once, when my heater failed about three days before Christmas, Willie repaired it for the cost of a standard service call plus a part that cost maybe 20 bucks. (I can't recall with precision.) I couldn't believe it. Last week, a broken valve kept my AC from cooling, and led to water dripping through a light fixture in my ceiling. Josh came several hours after I placed my call and spent maybe 90 minutes diagnosing the problem, assuring me he'd ruled out everything else. I had a phone conversation with Willie, who elaborated on Josh's finding. Willie told me that my cost, on the high side, would be maybe $650, stressing that he was allowing for several negative possibilities. Josh did the work the next day and the final charge was $475, all inclusive. Over two consecutive days, Josh had spent at least five hours at my home. It's now six days out, and everything seems fine. Whenever I've used Castillo, their work got the job done. read more

I have to give one star because Yelp won't allow zero... Do not use this company, EVER! If you want an honest opinion, please read below. The nightmare begins: 1. We find a house we love, however the air conditioning isn't working. Our realtor reaches out to the buyer. They call Willie. His company comes out and recommends replacing unit. We give the OK. 2. We close on the house in March (before the Central Texas heat). Soon after, we realize the upstairs isn't getting any cool air. We utilize the "free check up" card left by this company and someone comes out to make sure the unit is working properly. 3. The technician is polite and courteous, spends time checking the unit. His solution: change the filters. We did, no change. 4. We call and state the unit is still not working (we are now deep into May with family coming to visit). Recommendation from Willie (owner): buy a shop vac and clean out the system. Question: if this was necessary, why didn't the tech do it? 5. Willie sends out a technician to shop vac the unit, and states we will be charged for this service. Technician comes, shop vacs, and says its all good now. 6. Result: it's hotter inside than out. We contact Willie again to say that the unit is still not working and we will not be paying for the shop vac-ing service. 7. We are in June, it's 82 outside at 9pm and 86.5 in our house.., Long story short (too late) we are suffering and cannot sleep and this company has not fulfilled their obligation. Now we have to deal with our home warranty company... I recommend NEVER using this company, even in an emergency. We'd buy dry ice first (which we tried). read more

If I could give this zero stars I certainly would. I have no clue how they are even an established company and still going. Back in November I had the owner show up unannounced unprofessional as can be. How can you have phone numbers that do not work arrange a time and not getA status update as to whether the gentleman was still coming out. Didn't hear back and he came the very next day thinking it was OK as I was walking out. Unprofessional. Fast forward to end of November Joshua came out and said that I need the unit moved along with spacing between the unit and coil's. Said nothing else and I've been trying to arrange a date for them to come out being that they don't work past a certain time or on weekends. Here it is January 6th. I've had this date set since December 27 and they were supposed to come out at 10:30 this morning. I get a text stating we are on our way and will arrive to my home 10 am. I sent text proof that the landlord set the appointment time for 1030. It was 1030 geniuses!!!! So Joshua comes back with another gentleman and tells me my home needs a brand new unit it's too much AC for the square footage. Why Joshua could you not have told my landlord this back in November when you came? Absolutely unprofessional I am disgusted. You are unwelcomed and I will for sure spread the word. On top of that you're going to go and put a dirty ass blanket on my children's clean bedding.I understand that it was for protection but God knows where that has been it's stunk and left little crumbs of whatever and where ever that thing came from. Also you tracked in leaves and brought down old dirty insulation, took your ladder and bailed in your broke down trucks. Now here I am sweeping your mess. Your owner your company needs to see this but yet your owner is the one that came over unannounced in the beginning of this review. Sickening. Issue still not resolved since November. Willie is our AC hero! On a Friday evening in August, our AC went out. Not good! We called around to get someone out. The first person, from a large company tried to convince us that a 6 year old system had a shot compressor and it that it would be best to replace it. Of course, we wanted a second opinion before spending several thousand dollars. Willie came by in the evening after eating dinner on a Friday, checked the AC quickly, and determined it was a blown capacitor. He didn't have the right size for our machine but did have one that would keep us cool through the weekend until he could fix it for good.
