BUYER BEWARE/FUTURE PERSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS BEWARE. UNINFORMED STAFF. ABSOLUTELY CARELESS MANAGEMENT. Waste of three hours, gas, and toll money. And drove sixty miles round trip due to an incredibly uninformed but overly-confident BDC consultant. Or was it a bait-and-switch all along?? As evidenced in the pictures below, I asked explicitly TWICE in what I would consider as possibly the most clear and definitive way possible, as to whether this dealership would be able to take in our Ford F150 with one or two payments left on the lease as a trade-in for a new Yukon SLT on the lot. The first time, I was told this could probably work. The second time (second picture) I was 100% assured this would not be an issue. As such, I set up an appointment and my dad drove to this dealer from Chicago after work, and I drove to this dealer separately from the suburbs after work. We spent over an hour taking a look at the car, going on a test drive, the works. Pre-qualified with a trade and ready to buy that day. Only to be told by some type of manager who was either too scared or careless to even come up to our face and tell us the BDC consultant was wrong, and in fact, they couldn't take in the F150 and had no work around. He did not apologize for his exceptionally uninformed and over-confident staff. Instead he sent our new salesperson back and forth several times as if she was running up the stairs asking her daddy if her friend could sleep over on a school night. Dude, come over here and apologize and be a man. Or if you truly just didn't care, get a different job that doesn't involve customers. These car dealership staff act like they work at Verizon selling budget android smartphones or something. They have absolutely zero awareness or care in the world that they're selling what amounts to most folks as the second biggest purchase they'll ever make in their life. Maybe the BDC consultant knew this all along and just lied to get us in the door to perform a bait-and-switch??? Regardless, one star either way. Classless. Our car salesperson on the other hand was fine, she was new but she was sweet and this was through no fault of her own. Incredibly unfortunate and an absolutely well-deserved one star review. Your BDC consultant and your careless and/or scared "manager" absolutely earned this one. I always start and five stars and detract from there. Castle, you're dead to me.

Confirmed appointment and test drive with Alexandra. No car there, after driving an hour in traffic. Apparently at their body shop.

Tom Riggio and Cory Owens went above and beyond to get me into an affordable car loan, and a quality used vehicle I love more than anything.

Also I know this person only gives referrals, when we'll deserved. Prior to going to Pete's, I had a bad experience with a local business, mechanic and tire shop in the area (North Ave & Harlem). Went for an oil change, tire rotation and once over before putting my vehicle on the road in late June. Was told my radiator had a leak and it would be expensive to repair. Weeks prior, my husband vehicle had been leaking fluids on the garage floor, so i purchased two silver large cookie sheets from a auto mechanic store, to catch liquid and keep from staining the floor, put one under each vehicle. His vehicle did continue to leak and stain the pan, but my mine was clean nothing, and still looking new after several weeks. I explained this to the very polite and professional desk personnel. He insisted there was a leak. I'm panicking because I was unsure if we should put the vehicle on the road. But we did, stopping along the way to check the radiator fluids several times, never did the fluids go low even to today, That was in late June and here we are in mid October. When I took the vehicle to Pete's for brakes had him check the radiator for any leaks or abnormalities. Me Pete stated, there was no leaks and he looked fine, which saved me around 1700.00. Thank you Pete's!!!!!

I got a call about an hour later to come and pick up the car, it was finished. I asked what I owed, and they said nothing, it was a simple repair, just a couple of adjustments to the heat shield. We had just purchased new tires, but I went against my gut and did not take it somewhere else for a second opinion. I ended up selling the car to the owner for $300 and gave him the title. About a month ago, I started receiving calls from someone saying I was still listed as the owner and that the car had been impounded. It turned into a whole situation. The person who had the car was an elderly gentleman who said he had bought it from them, but he had no proper paperwork and did not seem to fully understand what had happened. My name was somehow still on the title even though I had thought I had signed it over. I had to go speak with the police an hour away from my homr and help this man get the car out of impound because it was his only means of transportation and he is elderly. Meanwhile, I left repeated messages for the owner of Forest Park and never received a call back. No explanation. No help. No accountability. This was extremely frustrating and, honestly, upsetting. Based on my experience, I do not find this business to be honest or honorable. I strongly recommend steering clear and taking your vehicle somewhere else.

I've been extremely satisfied with the service...... I will never trust my vehicle with anybody else.... I had a few noises going on in the front of the vehicle and I had it at another mechanic prior to bringing it to H&R .I was charged over 1500 sway bar And control arm repairs And I was still hearing the noise. Had to bring it back there because they did the first repairs. Then they told me it was a transmission mount which is another 500 .... And I still heard the noise, i was done... I decided to bring it to Forest Park.. where they inspected the vehicle to see what the problem was. And it was my brakes and calipers.. so I do believe experience allows you to know what you're looking for in my opinion...

I will start by saying this is not a personal review of Larry as he was very nice along the way…read more But at the end of the day, this was an awful awful experience. If you care about your car, your time, and your money, DO NOT take your vehicle to H&R Auto and Towing. Their complete incompetence, dishonesty, and negligence have cost me months of frustration and thousands of dollars--and they have refused to take responsibility for their terrible work. Botched Repairs From Day One In June 2024, I hit an object on the highway, which destroyed my transmission and bent my subframe. My insurance covered the repairs, and I--unfortunately--trusted H&R Auto with the job. That was the biggest mistake I could have made. It took them three months to return my car. Immediately, issues started popping up, forcing me to bring the car back multiple times over the next three months to fix things they should have done correctly the first time. Instead of using quality parts, they cut corners at every opportunity, installing junkyard parts without properly inspecting or replacing necessary components. H&R's Negligence Leads to Catastrophic Failure In November 2024, my transfer case completely failed due to H&R's failure to properly install or replace the seals between it and the transmission. Fred's Garage, a well-respected and trustworthy shop, inspected the damage and confirmed that H&R either installed the seals incorrectly or didn't replace them at all. I had no choice but to take it back to H&R, and they claimed to have fixed it. But when I took my car back to Fred's for an inspection, they found a new transmission leak--meaning H&R STILL didn't do the job right. At this point, I could no longer trust H&R with my vehicle, so I paid $2,303.26 out of pocket to have Fred's Garage fix their mistakes. That's money I should never have had to spend if H&R had done their job properly. Refusal to Take Responsibility I sent H&R a formal demand letter requesting reimbursement for the money I had to spend due to their gross incompetence and negligence. They have ignored it. No response. If they respond in the next few days I will consider changing or removing this review. I am escalating this issue by: Filing a formal complaint with the Illinois Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division I may take legal action to recover my costs Making sure everyone knows how they operate by posting this review everywhere I can Do Yourself a Favor - GO ELSEWHERE There are plenty of reputable mechanics out there--H&R Auto and Towing is NOT one of them. If you value your car, stay far away.

This is your warning to avoid this shop at all costs! Below is a detailed account of my experience:…read more Initial Issue: I noticed an oil leak from the front end of my car and scheduled a fluid leak evaluation which cost $29. Evaluation and Quote: During the evaluation they claimed that the valve cover gasket was the source of the leak. I was quoted $426.79 over the phone for the replacement (which I later found out included an undisclosed extended warranty fee) Repair and Continued Issue: I agreed to proceed with the repair. Alex, the manager, confirmed that the repair was complete and that the car was no longer leaking. However, within 2 hours of driving home, I noticed that the car was still leaking from the exact same spot. Second Visit: I returned to the store and spoke with Alex again. He looked under the car and said he didn't see any leak and suggested that the leak might not be oil but another fluid (it was absolutely oil). Alex asked me to place paper under the car and return with it the following morning. Follow-Up Inspection: I returned with the oil-stained paper, which I showed to Ralph, an associate at the counter. Ralph looked under the car and (confirmed) that there was indeed an oil leak on the bottom of the engine. He stated that the Forest Park location is not equipped to handle this type of leak, as it requires removing the transmission. Ralph had no explanation for why the leak was missed during the initial evaluation. Concerns: The fluid leak inspection was inaccurate. I proceeded with the repair based on incorrect information provided by Alex. Additionally, there was no indication that dye was used to assist in the inspection, yet I was charged $5.99 for oil dye (isn't this fraud?) I went to another repair shop and they performed a "real" leak inspection which confirmed the true source of the leak. I am dissatisfied with the service provided by Pep Boys and they've yet to respond to my request for them to honor their 100% satisfaction guarantee. Go somewhere else!
