I was looking for a new shop to work on my mkII GTI and one that had experience and the knowledge with these classic older cars. After many hours of researching the web I came across AutoTech Imports site and saw the cars they worked on. I read all of their reviews both on Yelp & Google and saw the many photos of their certifications from Volkswagen Academy and thought this might be the shop to try. All I can say is that I'm so glad I've had the chance to find and meet both Mercurio & Simone. From the minute I arrived they both stopped what they were working on to go outside and take a look and go over the crazy idle issue I was having with my car. Would not recommend at all , talk About a 2 face business. The way they treat some people over the phone is disgusting. An absolute P.O.S . It was an older gentleman that I spoke with . I highly recommend Autotech. Simone and Mercurio are honest and knowledgeable. They go above and beyond for their customers. They lead with integrity and kindness. I recently had my VW at their shop for repair. They helped me out the best they could, in the end I opted to get a new car. Instead of telling me to get my car they offered to let me leave it there as it wasn't safe to drive. When I stopped In over a month later to finally deal with the situation they could not have been nicer. Still helpful, they jumped the car and took the plates off for me. After seeing how poor the local Toyota dealer service department was I decided to take my car to Simone at Auto Tech Imports and as always my car comes back amazingly. I got the front ball joint service, stabilizer link service, transmission fluid service. As you can see in the pics the ball joint, stabilizer link were fully leaking grease and looks beyond bad. The black fluid was from the transmission and that really needed to be serviced. I also go my engine coolant replaced which was needed. I also had a steering shaft service which was badly needed. Simone explained all the details on what was needed. Lastly, throttle body was serviced. Auto tech imports is the only car service shop I will go to. They truly care about the customer and ensuing that ones care comes back to them in better condition than when it came into the shop. I can say that my car after the service is quieter from all the service that was done. HONEST. THOROUGH. EXCELLENT VALUE. TOP NOTCH MECHANICS. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. My truck had an electrical issue and this shop was chosen based on location and excellent Yelp reviews. I dropped my truck off on a Thursday evening before leaving town for the weekend. When Picked up my truck on Monday, I realized the same problem persisted. I was pissed. Electrical issues can be nasty, like chasing a ghost, and I knew that, so I took few deep breaths. How does this turn into a 5 star review? In the evening when I realized I still had a problem, I left a voice mail message at the shop explaining the issue and saying I'd be back in the morning. Before I even arrived, they called me to apologize and that they'd get right on it. I pulled up, they immediately pulled my truck into the shop and began pouring through it. The shop manager made me a cup of coffee and offered to drive me anywhere I needed to go if I couldn't wait. He told me the history of the shop and the depth of experience the mechanics had. I realized that having these guys working on my car was like asking NASA engineers to make me a paper airplane. Later that day, I returned. They had spent hours on my car... all at no additional cost to me. Problem solved. By the way, my truck? A 2003 Dodge Durango. It's in nice shape, but it's probably worth about $3000 tops. If they spent that kind of time on my old truck, just imagine how well they take care of everyone else. If you like taking care of your car and making it last, and want the best hands working on it, I highly recommend this business. read more

HONEST, professional, educating me on the why and wherefor! Totally trusted them on a friends opinion, and I will not go anywhere else! I had a mechanic/body shop for years and they closed and moved. My 19 yo Saab had a problem. I limped in and they found the electric problem. $3 for the replacement part and one of the owners even drove me home and picked me up when the car was repaired. Hello Simone, The team in your facility recently worked on my ABS/ESP pump for my 2004 VW Golf R32. It finally works after a couple years it's failed. Thank you for listening to me. The other items such as the door latch cause several issues especially when it stopped alerting me that I left my lights on. I once came into my car with a low battery. The new door latch also closes so much crisper as if it were a new car. The brake flush and coolant also worked out well. My particular experience began when I wanted to replace a side mirror on my 2005 Volvo XC 90. I brought the car in and spoke with Simone, who looked everything over and asked me to give him a few days. Rather than just give me the "standard" new parts quote, he went above and beyond to locate a used mirror for nearly half the price! The used mirror showed no sign of wear and was in perfect working order. I also opted to have them do some additional cosmetic work and a diagnostic. Everything was completed with great care and efficiency. Mercurio, one of the technicians, provided me with an honest and straight forward breakdown of what mechanical issues needed to be addressed and when. In addition, I was contacted regularly on the status of all work being completed. Everyone can agree that it is difficult to find a quality auto shop. Autotech Imports far exceeded my expectations. Let me start by saying that Mecurio and the staff are the best. I was recommended to them by a friend and he guaranteed that I would like the service. I have a 2009 Mini Cooper Clubman S which needed over $5000 in repairs. They worked diligently with my extended warranty company so they can pay for 90% of my repairs. Great place. The atmosphere and ambiance is fantastic. The staff and management were honest about the problems on my car and offered to show and explain the problems. The mechanics were very proficient and friendly. Stepping in here reminded me of my trip to Italy in 2010. The coffee kept me happy waiting. The price was very fair and the technicians were very HONEST. These days it is very hard to find honest auto mechanics, and for that reason I will always be coming back. I had a couple problems wrong with my car ( oil change, air conditioning fan, sensors malfunctioning, fuel purge errors, control arms, grease holders, etc.) Something that would of cost me an arm at a leg at the Volkswagen dealership. The technicians are all certified and train by the manufactures themselves. It was very impressive looking at all the awards and top honors belonging to the mechanics. Great place to bring your car. Had a check engine light on for quite a while, took it in to get everything checked out and fixed as I did not have any major work done on my car since I had bought it. Simone was very helpful and informative, the auto techs are all certified and know exactly what they are doing. They showed me exactly what I needed done and explained to me why and what could happen if I don't get the parts replaced. Really made me feel like they care about their customers and the cars we bring in. I brought my Smart car into Auto Tech Imports because the valve stem on the tire had broken off and the tire was under inflated to the point of being flat. Not knowing what was needed to fix the problem made me a little anxious. The tech explained to me in detail that this is common with aluminum valves ( which are very rigid and prone to crack especially with our inclement Chicago weather.) Turns out, I also needed a couple new tire pressure sensors. I was pleased to find out that all my necessary repairs could be done within a few hours. When I went to pick my car I was shown the parts that had been replaced, explained why they were replaced and yes, they even washed my car which I thought was a really nice touch. It was refreshing to be educated instead of just being handed a bill and whisked in and out. This has to be one of the few places where customer service is still a top priority. Bottom line: I would highly recommend this place for the high level of professionalism and quality work. read more

I could not be more pleased with the service I received from Simone and Mercuiro at Autotech Imports. I went to Autotech because I was looking at purchasing a 2007 imported car and the seller of the car didn't want me to go far from his used car dealership for my inspection. To my good fortune, his location was close to Autotech. Autotech's inspection was great. Mercurio's work was clearly careful and comprehensive, performed with an expert's clear mind and eye and all the current technology required for the task. In addition to his inspection, Mercurio took the time to explain the condition of the car in detail, counseling me to avoid buying the car that, in his words, "would be an expensive mortgage." Their car lifts, their work stations, indeed the entire condition of the Autotech shop reflects this character and commitment to the highest-level of service. The inspection price was more than reasonable for the work Mercuiro performed. Because of this, I ended up returning to Autotech until I found a car they approved.
