I gave Jeremy a list of preliminary concerns and he made sure to add those items to his already long list. It's clear he knows his stuff--knew models of HVAC systems, when they were built, etc, familiar with building codes and septic systems. In fact, it was a plus that we didn't have to hire a separate septic inspector like you usually have to do. They had different experts come out which was all included in the Works package. He found issues that surprised the seller, even though the home had just been inspected before being put on the market. Jeremy walked us through the report in an hour long follow up call. Later, as the seller began fixing issues before our close, he generously gave us a follow up call and even offered to come back and re-inspect the fixes after it was done. He obviously cares about what he does. He's direct, honest and I appreciated having his expert opinion before closing on a big purchase. Would use them again.

We were highly disappointed. Despite his home inspection saying there were minor concerns for us, we pulled the Town report and found that many things he aid were NOT issues WERE. 1. Foundation cracks - while not unusual, these were identically cracked across from one another and larger than what I was comfortable with - Gary Oleski said not to be of concern - town inspector report actually said foundation was poured incorrectly and noted as "owner's risk"; 2. Bathroom vents - Gary said that they were to code and vented outside. I specifically asked Gary if they were vented outside or through the Attic, he stated they were vented directly outside, contrary to that we found out that they were NOT vented directly outside and were NOT to code! 3. Prior roof leak was known and new roof was noted and I specifically asked him to look at the roof for issues. He did find nail pops and some concern over the shingles by sky lights but stated that because it was a newer roof the shingles may not have settled into place yet. That was reasonable. We did find out however (and not that Gary would know this, but repair to the roof did not have a permit pulled and the original roof also was not signed off on by the town inspector). 4. Plumbing - the plumbing was not to code and not signed off on by the town. Gary did not see any plumbing issues. 5. The venting of the furnace/mechanics of the house were not to code and Gary said that they were fine. I have no idea what to make of that on the part of what to expect from an inspector on that issue. I realize that not all of that would have been known by an average inspector, but he claims to be a "Master inspector" and at the price we pay for inspections, in this case we paid $795 with the water/radon testing, is it too much to ask that a person that is ultimately in charge of the major purchase we are making in picking a home not pull the town record or know more about what they are inspecting? Also, he claims he is experience in building log homes. When we questioned further, we were told he was involved with building a "Spec/Model" log home. Very misleading from the website. We did not receive any photographs of items of concern or what he inspected, we were not told correct information and while he was very nice and provided the hand written report back quickly, I would not recommend his services for such a significant investment, as we had to walk away from this home based upon what we later found out about the house. If we had based it upon the inspection he provided, we would be purchasing a "money pit" that may not have been safe over time.

We're in danger of our basement flooding again. Ross' inspection report stated that "the sump pump installation was inspected and the pump was tested to ensure function." No defects were noted. However, the pumps were clearly defective and have been for a while. Their defects were detectable without dismantling anything. Ross disappointed us.

Nervously pulling up to the house, not knowing what to expect, Ross was already there ready to go and making sure the grounds were safe. Right then and there, I knew that I picked the right company for this inspection. It was such a pleasure to see somebody who cares about what he does as much as Ross. Before he got to the house, he knew what had to be tackled first and was full prepared just by gathering the initial information. Without HOMESPEC, I would have been left with a mess on my hands between beams in the basement, windows being replaced, and water well issues, Ross really saved me thousands upon thousands of dollars. Even after the inspection, he kept his phone available and texted me through any issues that he wanted me to overcome. I felt so lucky to have someone as patient as he was. Most companies do their job, get paid and you never hear from them again. However, weeks after the inspection, up until closing, Ross has been in constant contact making sure things went as planned. I never knew how detailed a home inspection can be when it's done properly. Ross brought in his team of specialists to make sure that a first time home buyer wasn't left in the dark regarding the oil burner, septic tank, water well, etc. HOMESPEC really came through from start to finish. I was shocked to see Ross up on the roof making sure the house was safe and sound. The detailed work was obvious. Not every day do you find excellent communication, follow through and attention to detail. Ross was phenomenal. On July 25, 2026, I hired Fred Stinard of Fred Stinard Inspections to perform a crawl-space…read moreinspection at my home in Milford, CT, to verify encapsulation work. I paid $225 in cash for the inspection. Mr. Stinard repeatedly told me that he would provide a written inspection report. I followed up with him multiple times, and each time I was led to believe that the report would be provided. Despite those repeated assurances, I never received the report. He ultimately stopped responding to my texts altogether. After being repeatedly ignored, I sent a certified written demand requesting the report. That letter also went unanswered. I also checked the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection's licensing records and found that license number HOI.0000921 was not valid on the date of my inspection. As of the date of this review, the license still shows as invalid. This is extremely disappointing and unprofessional. I paid for an inspection and was repeatedly promised a written report, but received neither the report nor any meaningful communication afterward. The fact that I had to repeatedly chase a professional for something I had already paid for--and was ultimately ghosted--is unacceptable. I am posting this review so prospective customers can make an informed decision. I strongly recommend verifying the inspector's current Connecticut license status before hiring and getting all promised services and deliverables clearly documented in writing.

He kept making excuses about why he couldn't get it right, including saying we needed a sump pump. Now, our levels are extremely high again (11.0!) and he is refusing to honor his 5 year warranty on the system. We did end up installing a sump pump to avoid flooding issues and he now says that having a sump pump could be causing problems for his system and conveniently doesn't remember telling us that we should get one installed. He is extremely unprofessional and has been nothing but a headache to deal with. I've never had a more frustrating experience with a "professional". Save yourself the trouble and hire a real professional.
