My dear friends had a wedding reception at Caston and Main this past weekend. They were assigned the back patio and the back bar. They served veggies, fruit, and cheese and cracker trays, as well as flatbreads of all kinds. Also, it was an open bar for beer and wine. I don't even know where to begin my review. This is a beautiful facility with one of the most amazing staffs I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Amanda the manager was so sweet, and kept the party moving and organized. The bartenders Jill, Jaime and Jenny kept the party going, making sure everyone always had a drink and were so personable. The food was top notch, especially the flatbreads. The kitchen staff was polite and very quick. We never had to wait for anything. I would recommend Caston and Main for any party. And I'm very excited to go back for dinner and drinks! The drinks are very good. The food is so inconsistent. One day the food will be very flavorful and cooked well and another there is no flavor and the food is burnt or undercooked. If you want to go for just drinks it is a great place to go but the food I would not recommend to anyone. read more

Overall terrible. I've been here many times and haven't been disappointed until recently. Visited a few times the last two months and it progressively got worse. We waited over two hours for food (was not busy) and 30 for drinks. Our food was burnt to a crisp and the manager said, "it's a learning curve we have a Taylor Swift sing along." Not apologetic at all and didn't try to make it right. We gave this another shot thinking maybe they had an off night, but each visit after got worse. Food is cold or burnt. Ordered takeout & it was done in less than 20 minutes which I think is great! It was also right before closing... This was our first time getting food here, and everything was pretty good but I think it was overpriced for what we got. The Asian Shrimp for example - $17 for 4 shrimp & some lettuce? Same with the chorizo balls - they ended up being over $3 each - not really worth it. The steak & sides were tasty & probably the most reasonable item we got but I would've expected at least some bread & a salad with it. The people I spoke to on the phone to order seemed very nice. I have never left a negative review for a restaurant on any platform in my life, but after what I would describe as the worst plate of food I have ever been served, I have no choice. I ordered steak tacos, which were to include pickled red onions, cilantro, and lime sour cream. Pretty basic dish. Technically, I received those ingredients. The steak was cooked fine but was literally plain cooked meat. No seasoning, not even salt and pepper was used when cooking. One taco had two pieces of the pickled red onion, a piece of cilantro, and enough sour cream to maybe cover a stick of gum. I was more embarrassed for the individual who prepared the food and served it, than I was angry at the them for serving it to me. A photo of the taco has been provided, which numerous people on my social media unanimously and separately called, "sad taco." A photo review is also provided. Stopped in for dinner on a Sunday evening while waiting on a pick up run for a 1.5 hour delayed flight (about 12 minutes from CAK). We sat in the most empty rustic-ish dinning room next to the fireplace and bourbon tasting room. Our server was very friendly and attentive and gave good suggestions on both food and beer. I got the buffalo chicken mac and cheese which had the chicken and peppers as a topping to a bowl of mac and cheese. Separately I found it to be a bit spicy but when I mixed them together the mac and cheese brought down the spice level. 1st visit. Went there with my wife, daughter and Granddaughter. I had the mushroom flatbread, others had fish and chips, burger and Mac and cheese with shrimp. All of us throughly enjoyed our meals. I'll limit my comments to the flatbread that I had. (pic attached) . It was very good and very different from a normal pizza. It had a sweeter flavor to it and was excellent. My daughter tried a bite and loved it. My taste leans more to spicy and salty. I sprinkled some black pepper and salt on it and what a difference (to me) ! Either way this is a great flatbread. I expected more. The patio is very nice. The beers were not their own and a mediocre selection. The quesadilla was delicious-loved the creme fraiche and salsa. The service, though, from the time it took to be greeted to the overcharges on our bill, was unfriendly and a little haughty. This was our first stop out and to say we're disappointed would be an understatement. We had two couples and each spent $85+. The cocktails were great but it pretty much stopped there. The hot chicken sandwich was VERY small and dried out plus came with the wrong side. We saw other sandwiches going out that looked much better. Our friends got the pretzel app though the bottom was burnt to a crisp. She also got the black bean burger but it had ZERO taste. The only meal that was enjoyed was my sirloin and fries though this was $23.00 for sirloin. We unfortunately won't be rushing back. I'd recommend for drinks and happy hour, specials or apps. It is also very important to note that we could see directly into the kitchen and the cooks WERE NOT wearing masks. Be warned! My first visit to Caston & Main Brew Yard was to attend a relative's job promation celebration & it was in the back "party" area of the building. The atmosphere, beverages & server were good. But, they up-charged on the menu they offered the party room. I got the fish & chips for the rediculous price of $27.99, I can't imagine what the regular menu price is, but I'm guessing it too is pretty pretty high. The only reason I got it was to be sociable with others that were ordering dinner. When I got my fish & chips it was missing the sides (hush puppies & cole slaw). I had to ask for those to go, when I paid my tab. I paid the server her tip in cash & paid the tab with my debit card. They charge the 2.75% credit card service fee which they do have a sign on the door for. But, they didn't have a sign on the door about including a 20% gratuity if you are in the back room. I didn't notice this until I got home. So, I paid the server a 20% gratuity twice, once in cash & again as a line item on my tab. I called to talk to the manager 3 times the next day without any returned calls. I called the next day twice, no returned calls. I finally caught up with manager on the fourth day. She refused to give the 20% gratuity that was on my bill back or even give a gift certificate in the amount of the gratuity that I paid twice. In my opinion, even though it was totally on me for not closely scrutinizeing my bill when it came, the manager should have offered a voucher or gift certificate in the amount of the 20% gratuity that they unexpectedly line itemed on my bill to be used towards my next visit in hopes of making it right with the customer. Instead, she wasn't even willing to ask her server if SHE would be agreeable to returning one of the twice paid gratuities. Needless to say I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. If you go, make sure you pay close attention to your bill & prices. read more

Loyal customers no more. We discovered Caston's new model provides (overpriced) meals such that: - Salads are delivered first, other party members will have to wait for food that takes longer. (I got a $14 Caesar Salad in about 20 minutes, and the rest of my family got their chicken sandwiches and tacos about an hour later). - But that said, other parties who arrived after us had ordered similar food and were done eating and left before we were served our ordered food. The list goes on. I agree it's overpriced according to the other reviews. After many good times and meals there, we seen a drastic change. It's mismanaged somewhere in the upper echelon and worthwhile to avoid Caston. Note: The staff is genuinely good. The manager working the floor is good. Above that, I prefer not to say except the upper management did not have the basic common courtesy to hear our concerns for taking the risk of continuing to patronize (not any more). BTW - Coincidentally, after isolating, it appears a member of our party got sick from the classic burger (that arrived an hour and 40 minutes after ordering). read more

First time there, so consider that with my initial perspective. Went with a friend and really liked the setting and look of the place. I've spent the past few years on the west coast and this place def has that vibe I saw in the pics. This place has a great atmosphere and so much potential, location may be the only limitation but I imagine time will tell. I really liked the menus as well, great beer list; very good bourbon offerings; and the food offerings sounded really good. Had the Nachos and while they were good, they were missing some overall flavor. My friend didn't care for them at all. For my meal we had the Bourbon Stir fry and that was very yummy. Done really well. There are quite a few others I look forward to trying. Lastly, they don't run a lot of good promotions or happy hour specials. I believe this is a strategy, however it leaves you with a $50-$60 meal for 2 with a Few drinks every time. So I believe that could improve while still maintaining the atmosphere. read more

Nice atmosphere and patio. Beers are a little pricey, same with the food. Service was good, the flatbread was cheesy and tasty. I got the cheesesteak which could have used more meat. As is, I had to spread the meat around to cover the bread better and I still had leftover bread. Bread to meat ratio is bad. The beer cheese on it was tasty, but that was about all you could taste. Little bits of steak that fell into my plate were overly salty. People were getting seared salmon. The whole patio smelled of it, but it smelled good. The sweet potato fries seemed to be coated in corn starch which for potatoes is ok, makes fries crunchy, but on the sweet potatoes it didnt do anything, just coated them and made it weird. read more

What an impressive place! I had the most enjoyable lunch here with family. The recent remodel was done in a warm, cozy industrial style and is broken up in to four spaces. There is a yard with patio seating and an outdoor fireplace, a bar room with a horseshoe style social bar and high top tables, a dining room with a two sided fireplace and on the other side of that fireplace is a bourbon tasting room. First off, the service was excellent. It was conversational where everyone was addressed in a personalized manner. We truly felt like welcomed guests. Everything we ordered was excellent. For apps we sampled these sloppy joe meat fried meatballs with a tasty glaze. They had a bit of a spice and the sweet glaze was perfect. We also sampled the soft pretzel bites that came with an awesome beer cheese! The fresh cut fries were perfect and everyone raves about their sandwiches. I had the bacon and blue burger subbed with Swiss cheese. It had a wonderful horseradish aioli which I asked for more of! It was great for dipping the fries in also We sampled some bourbon too. The list is very extensive with some more rare ones and the prices are beyond good compared to big city places! This place is worth the drive if you enjoy good food and tasting bourbon. They also have an extensive craft beer list on tap. One thing I'd suggest is bringing a bottle or two of water. Being a city girl, I could not drink the water... This place looked super cute. I was here for a baby shower in the winter time so we sat inside. It has a rustic look and I didn't see their full menu but the food they provided for the shower was so so good! The salad they had seemed awesome on the menu but it looked very minimal when it was actually in front of you. Idk if it was missing a few items or what but I added some steak from my plate to my friends salad so it'd be more filling. The steak was great and the appetizers were delicious too. They only had 2 beers on the list that they brewed. I got the hazy IPA and it was good! They had plenty of other beer to choose from as well. When we were seated, we looked at the menu and decided what we wanted to eat. 15 minutes later our server said they are out of 7 different food items. The menu is already small, so there wasn't much to choose from. It took over an hour to receive a burger and wings. Unfortunately, the wings were very very dry and the burger was too crispy. Overall, the entire process was slow, even just getting a bar drink. They weren't even terribly busy. Read other reviews, they will tell you the service is really slow. I would like to start this off by saying that I was a huge fan of this restaurant for months. Despite the weird pond water they try to serve (seriously, tastes like it came out of a fish tank) and the overpriced food for small portions, I really did love going there because it was a local spot with a fun atmosphere and excellent brunch options. We loved going after church on Sunday and went on a nearly weekly basis. And then a few things started to amount until I reached my breaking point tonight. 1. I loved the brunch. Fried green tomato Benedict is so unique and fun, and I ordered it every time. I brought my future mother-in-law here because she thought it sounded good. The kitchen literally forgot to make it one time. They brought food out for the whole table except her. By the time we got our food, it was after brunch ordering, and they said they were out of it and she had to get something else. No discounts or even apologies. 2. Given how much we loved it, we considered having our wedding reception there. Wasn't worth the inquiry. They never followed up despite our emails, phone calls, and coming into the restaurant. Glad we didn't decide to book anything there as the communication is clearly lacking. 3. The cocktails are nearly always missing some ingredient. I've never gotten one (and I've ordered many) that have actually had the garnish described on it. 4. They are always out of something we try to order. I've never been there (10+ visits in the last few months) and been able to order what I want and actually get it all. Sometimes the appetizer, sometimes the entree, other times the drink. They're always somehow out of something, which can be a bummer when you're really craving something that was great last time. Despite all of these minor things, it easy enough to overlook them for a good atmosphere and a fun brunch. I was more forgiving than some - friends and family I've brought here have been disgusted by the fishy water or bothered by the service or lack of menu item availability. But overall, I love supporting local businesses, especially places with brunch. Naturally, I ask a few friends/coworkers to meet up for dinner there to sit on the patio, as two of us had dogs we wanted to bring along. For context, my fiancé and I had been there only days prior and had seen 3 dogs, one in a purse, others sitting by the table on a leash. Throughout the summer, we'd seen dogs on the patio. I thought it would be perfect. I brought my dog, a 20 pound, very well-behaved, calm-tempered boy. The hostess had informed us that they don't allow dogs, to which I expressed my surprise, as I had just seen them a few days ago. "Not here, you didn't. It's been against policy for three years." Weird response, but okay. I just said "that's fine, we'll go somewhere else." No trouble. Weird, but that's completely their prerogative as a business. We leave without any trouble, and suddenly, the same hostess follows us out to the parking lot as we begin to call other restaurants to verify if they allow dogs on their patios. The hostess says "those were service dogs. I just want you to know that we're not discriminating against you." I had no problem with them until she said this. These were absolutely not service dogs based on their behavior and interactions with me. I'm a dog lover. I always talk to owners and ask permission before I pet. An owner of a service dog would not have allowed me to pet their dog, but alas I had pet a few only days prior. "They weren't service dogs a few days ago," I replied, to which she said "We have a policy against dogs, you didn't see any." At this point, I'm a bit tired of hearing her try to tell me what I did and did not see, so I said "I don't know why there were dogs here the other day, and frankly, I do not care why they were here the other day. I just know that there were, so maybe the other employees aren't aware of the policy." She rolled her eyes at me and walked away. To reiterate: I do not have a problem with your policy. I have a problem with you chasing me out the the parking lot to attempt to convince me that I couldn't trust my memory due to some arguably existent policy that they have only occasionally enforced. It's just a really strange way to treat a (previously) loyal customer. Or any customer for that matter. Now I'm not sure I'll ever return, and I certainly will not be recommending it the way I once did. read more

I've eaten here about 20 times but tonight was an absolute disappointment. Waited at the table more than 10 minutes before our server finally came over to say hello. Was very obvious that someone dropped the ball as the hostess had a meeting with three servers before our server walked over to apologize. Neither the manager or server came over to apologize. We went because my daughter wanted a pretzel. We ordered immediately when the server came to greet us. 25 minutes later The server showed up with our entrees and no pretzel. Server apologized but that was the extent of the service for the night. Bottom 10% of service I've experienced in my life. Unfortunately, experience was bad enough I will likely not return nor recommend the restaurant. The food was good. Fiancé and I were starving so we got a soft pretzel as an app. When the description says "giant pretzel" they mean giant. Came with cheese and mustard. I ordered the bbq pulled pork eggs Benedict and it was delicious. Poached eggs cooked perfectly. Came with tasty and crisp red skin potatoes. My beeb ordered chicken and waffles and you know I had to snag a bite. Perfect amount of spicy and sweet. Wait staff was friendly and fast, restaurant was clean and aesthetically pleasing. Absolute worst food experience of my life. Waited 2 hours for brunch and still no food. Manager, Denise, who was TERRIBLE argued that it was only an hour and 15 minutes of wait which LOL ok sure that's still a "normal" amount of time for breakfast food. When we said we would like a discount because would not pay full price she said she would not. And would call the cops on us if we didn't pay full price. Never truly apologized and instead made it feel like it was our fault because it was only over an hour. Saw at least 2 other groups walk out. Truly the worst. read more

Yesterday was my birthday. My wife asked where I'd like to celebrate and Caston & Main sounded like the perfect place for me! We made reservations for 7pm. We got seated immediately, but we had no menus, no drinks, no silverware. Just an empty table with the 4 of us sitting there. Ok, they'll get to us soon. Waitress finally came around at 15 minutes to see if she could get us water or any drinks. Those came 10 minutes later (25 minutes in). I want to say our server was wonderful. I could tell she was overworked, and was doing her best. 40 minutes in she asked us if we'd like any appetizers. We ordered those and they came in a reasonable amount of time, probably 15 minutes later (almost an hour there). She took our dinner orders and things were going pretty good. Then we were 1.5 hours in and no sign of food. I had to flag her down twice for another beer. Again, I feel bad for our server, I really think she was doing the best that she could. At 1 hour 40 minutes, with no sign of food in sight, we asked if we could get our food to go. We had to pick up my other son at 9pm from lacrosse practice. She said absolutely and brought me our bill. I paid our bill and we waited another 15 minutes for our food. It never came, there was no communication, and we were 15 minutes late picking up our son. Sorry, I can't recommend and we won't be back. Happy birthday to me! I will be disputing this charge. No food. read more
