3.5 score. Pretty good place, but busy for holiday crowd. Stopped before an outing at the Wadsworth Celestial. Decent service but overtasked due to the crowd, so drinks and meals were slow. I'm better at waiting for food or ordering the meal, but I do like drinks reordered or topped off when needed. Food was good (my New Year's resolution is to take pics). I had the beer battered cod (small cod portion and too much oily breading) and my wife had a Chicken Alfredo (she enjoyed it). Overall, if we are in the area we may return, but won't make this a destination. Again, nothing wrong here just slow and average meals. read more

The food, service and the décor were all top-notch. I sat at the bar, Phoebe took care of me. I asked her about the appetizer of carrots. She highly recommended it. It did not disappoint at all. Quiet, towny, historic, rustic vibes! Very casual atmosphere, feels like a nostalgic place that would take cash only, somewhere your grandpa used to take you and you'd see a town regular posted at the bar. Lots of different seating options, huge booths, intimate tables, cool bar area and looked like nice outdoor patio for warmer months. Our server was SO nice and attentive, offered suggestions of her favorites from the menu. The spirit of a drink I wanted was out of stock so she suggested great alternatives. Both of our sandwiches were good and flavorful, and fries well seasoned. Good portions. Would like to try more things in the future. This is the kind of place that feels homey, like your grandma is in the kitchen and your family is all sitting around talking. If you're expecting out of this world decor and fusion food, this is not the place for you. It's cozy comfort. Nothing super major went wrong, but many little things added up to a not great experience. First, the restaurant was colder than we expected, and the bathrooms were absolutely freezing. It was a cold night (20 degrees or so), but I was surprised the restaurant it self was chilly. I'm not usually cold, so it was surprising. Second, I ordered the "Build an Entree" and chose the pork chop and broccolini as my side (it comes with two sides, but I asked for extra broccolini because of my diet). The pork chop comes out covered in this glaze that I find out is a bourbon glaze, but there are onions in it. I cannot eat onions at all (allergy), and nowhere on the menu is it listed that there is a glaze. The broccolini was cooked but was no longer warm. I mentioned these things to our server, and she said that their pork chop has always come with that glaze and it is mentioned on the menu. I asked to see a menu, and the only place the pork chop is mentioned is in this "Build an Entree" section, and no glaze/sauce is listed. The pork also looked slightly undercooked for medium, but maybe that's just me. They cleaned off the glaze and reheated everything, and the food was good. My wife had the salmon and very much enjoyed it. Finally, the check came and everything was priced 4% higher than the menu prices. When I inquired about that, they said it was because of credit card fees, and if we paid in cash, they would remove that fee. I understand the need for credit card fees, but it's not listed anywhere on the menu that they have such a fee, and the fact that it came out with such a fee built in already makes me question whether or not they reduce it unless someone asks specifically. All in all, it just wasn't the quality experience we were hoping for on a date night. I don't think we'll be back any time soon. read more

Very unassuming spot. Interior is very Bavarian, all wood everything lol. The menu is fantastic. We started with the lamb nachos, hear me out: lamb meat and a curry sauce atop pita chips. Then for my meal I had the scallops appetizer, garnished elegantly and the house salad. You can tell their lemon basil vinaigrette is made in house. Soooo slow. Had a 5:30 reservation and our food finally arrived at 6:40 with the wrong sides on the wrong plates. Ordered the burrata bruschetta as an app and it had four pieces of tomato total on the entire thing. Hot honey chicken sandwich was lacking hot honey flavor. Overall just disappointing. We occasionally drive out to this clean rustic restaurant to enjoy their humongous burgers! Oh my gosh, for me it was quite a bit of burger, so I took half home! LOL But oh so yummy! The Brocollini was done to perfection! I've had other dishes there and they are just delicious. The fare is down home cooking with an upscale flare that changes seasonally (I think.) Service is responsive and friendly but not intrusive. I have always wanted to try an evening out for some beverages and entertaining music but still haven't gotten there. Well you have to have goals and a bucket list. I guess I will be adding that to mine. read more

Took the family to Wolf Creek Tavern again as we've had very good meals here in the past. Upon arrival, we were promptly seated at a booth, which I liked. The menus were already on the table, but they were stuck to the sticky table top. As an appetizer were ordered fried green tomatoes, which weren't on the menu, but were recommended by our friendly waitress. A little while later, the tomatoes arrived and my kids tasted them, but didn't like them. My wife ate one and said it was okay. I loved them and would definitely order them again. For dinner, I ordered a spinach dinner salad with chicken. It came with goat cheese and strawberries - very good salad. My daughter ordered brisket mac n cheese, which was rich, not overly smoked, and delicious. My wife's flatbread pizza was tasty and my son said his tavern burger was yummy. Great meal, great service. Busy place! We had a short wait 25 minutes and the food was well worth it! Spicy cauliflower was great! Service was good.

We have been there before and loved it. Went there last night. 7pm. Was not overly busy. Waited 50 minutes for a soft pretzel. Then waited another 75 minutes for dinner. Dinner was cold and rubbery. Very sad the service and food was poor quality. Will not be going again anytime soon. read more

Friday night dinner at Wolf Creek Tavern Norton, OH. Locals packed the place. The accommodating & very friendly John served us this evening. We started with a pint of Brew Kettle White Rajah & a Shirley Temple. For dinner we had their homemade Fish Sticks with Old Bay Seasoned Fries & a Hamburger with fruit. My daughter finished with their homemade Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake. The Fish Sticks came hot out of the fryer. We loved them. The fruit was a sizable portion and very fresh. The Pumpkin Spice Cheesecake was fantastic!! Unfortunately the fries were cold, and old. The burger and its roll were both dry and inedible. I think if you order any of their homemade items and dessert you'll be very pleased with your experience. read more

Update Jan. 30 2021- Had a very delicious veggie burger on a busy Saturday night. The Brussel sprouts are amazing as well! I wish the wine selection was better... the restaurant seems slightly more upscale, so you think they'd have a good wine menu, but sadly no. Also, we waited FOREVER for our food. Once again, the ridiculously long wait put a slight damper on the evening. Not sure I'll be back. The speak easy in the basement is fun though...but cooooold. Brrr! And the bartender had to keep running upstairs to run credit cards...apparently they can't do credit cards in the basement. The poor bar tender seemed a little frantic it and frazzled having to run up and down the stairs, and it caused a delay at the bar. read more

Oh my goodness. We ate on the patio tonight and I could not be more impressed. We live about 30 minutes away but we met our Norton friends here and had a beautiful dinner. Grace was our server and she was beyond friendly and the owners even stopped by during our meal to thank us for coming out. I also saw a busser cleaning each individual chair after a nearby party left. I highly recommend the tavern lemonade (strawberry) to drink and the Shane's Ginger-tini. The food we got was delicious and included the baked Brie, hot honey chicken sandwich, giant pretzel, confit wings, and wedge salad. read more

Very nice patio and servers are great. Was disappointed by the food. Appetizer pretzel was very unappetizing. Probably one of the worst pretzels I've ever had. Burgers are good options for here and their side of chips was yummy. Salad was small and salmon medium cooked had some raw parts to it- but maybe that's my fault for ordering salmon cooked medium. Drinks were fine. Pricy place. I guess this place has a speakeasy during the winter months on Fridays and Saturdays so that's probably really cool. Definitely a place to get drinks or a burger but nothing fancier like a salmon salad. Stick to ordering the bar food. When you think of an old tavern this is it! Friendly service and relaxing atmosphere. We were here from out of town (from Akron originally) and met up with my brother and sister-in-law. The drink menu was all inclusive: beer, wine , and spirits. I had an old Fashion that was delish! The Brie appetizer was top notch! The gnocchi chicken paparika was delish too. Good Food! My husband were on the area on a beautiful, sunny, Saturday afternoon on our way to visit a few wineries. Looking for lunch, of course I checked Yelp. Wolf Creek Tavern had great reviews, so we decided to stop...and glad that we did! We arrived at approx 11:30am, and proceeded to the outdoor patio. Our server arrived a short time later and took our order. I ordered the chicken Waldorf salad. My husband ordered the chicken sliders with fries. Our food arrived fresh and tasty. My husband's 2 sliders were huge, nicely dressed on fresh, butter toasted buns, accompanied by fresh cut fries. My salad was seasoned well, lots of crunch walnuts, shredded chicken, celery, grapes, apple slices, green onions and red onions, in a light dressing, served on salad greens. I would have loved some crackers, toasted pita, or a croissant, along with the salad. Our server was attentive and efficient. We enjoyed our meal and would return, when in the area. read more

Wolf Creek used to be one of our favorite places. But, over the summer we had three meals that have turned us off. In one instance a chicken and noodle dish was served without the chicken, another time the chicken salad was served without the chicken and the final straw was the grilled Romain salad, which was served with Romain lettuce that a produce manager in a grocery would have deemed unfit to sell and discard. They should have been embarrassed to serve it. We won't be going back. read more

This characterful, historic building is just off I-5 on a route we travel a couple of times a year, and apart from gas stations and fast-food places, there isn't a whole lot of choice in this stretch. But Wolf Creek Tavern is a really decent place for a break. They have awesome, big, dog-friendly courtyard out back, complete with yard games. The food is really decent, I think there's someone in that kitchen that really cares about food: terrific home-made breakfast biscuits, country-fried potatoes (we were proudly told included two varieties of potato for flavor) On top of that, the staff is so friendly and accommodating! Restaurant holds a lot of promise if they could ever get their act together. We were in town for a Memorial Service for a friend who had passed and decided on Wolf Creek Tavern for dinner. On the surface it looked good and when we arrived we were impressed with the facility. It was warm and inviting with a somewhat eclectic atmosphere. A lot of history here going back to 1840 and the fact that it was once a stop on the Underground Railroad and was a Speak Easy during prohibition. We were promptly seated and drink orders taken. Being a Southerner, I took a chance and ordered Sweet Tea. When she told me they did not have Sweet Tea, I asked it they had Simple Syrup in the Bar, she said she would check and when she came back, her reply was no and then changed it to ... sort of, What is sort of? Ended up with regular unsweetened with half of the undissolved sugar in the bottom. In anycase, after reviewing the menu, my wife chose two appetizers. She ordered Garlic Bread and Fried Green Tomatoes. I ordered the Tavern Burger with Fries. An hour and 10 minutes later and having watches much larger parties than our party of two come in, order and get served and almost finished, we flagged down the hostess. She said she would check and disappeared for 5 to 10 minutes. When she came out, she said our order was just coming out and would be served shortly. 5 minutes later, when it was served, the burger was slightly warm, the fries were stone cold and my wife only got her garlic bread which turns out is more of a flat bread. Granted the presentation was nice and it looked good bu the fact was when I bit into it, it was cold and well past it's prime. They offered to redo the order but I did not want to wait another hour so I ended up eating the cold burger. It was not bad and probably would have been very good if it had been served when it was ready. My wife Fried Green Tomatoes, finally did show up about 5 minutes later. They offered to comp her another drink but she also declined. All indications are that the order was processed normally and was ready when it was suppose to be but no one picked it up and it just set there getting cold. Restaurant has a good menu and good atmosphere and the food is probably very good when served at the proper temperature but the Service goes beyond leaving much to be desired. read more

I love this place, I have been coming here all my life. I the restaurant has changed hands sever times in the last 20 years, but the building remains the same. This place has history, even said to be haunted. Don't be scared, this place is very warm and inviting. I've been to Wolf Creek many times for dinner, but never lunch, so I thought I'd try that today. I had the Barrata Pizza, a Mozzarella-like cheese, black olive, fresh tomato, pesto and herbed oil rendition of this classic Italian favorite. It was very good, but I would have loved a house-made crust that was representative of the culinary creativity I know this place is capable of doing. The Mac & cheese, however, was spot on! Wow!! This place is rich in history (it was part of the Underground Railroad, and has a prohibition speakeasy) and a diverse and absolutely delicious menu. Seriously, if this place wasn't 40 minutes away, i would be here every week. We ordered the lamb poutine for a starter, and the lamb was so tender and delicious. The fried cheese curds were great. I ordered the beet and butternut squash ravioli, which was homemade and delicious. I really love how many vegetarian options were available. Lastly, the atmosphere is cozy, with live music if you go during the weekend. We had great service and loved checking out the (supposedly haunted) speakeasy.
